Jestalnaker94000-Yes surprise, surprise, Aaron is on the way. Things are all starting to fall into place for season two of this story. Hope you enjoy this one too.
WhatWhereWhen-Yeah Daryl and Sawyer have a rapport, that's what I felt best suited them. They can both be gruff and sometimes rub people the wrong way but I thought a brotherly relationship would fit them best.
Thedarkpokemaster-The others will be popping up in various groups all over the series, somewhere you'd least expect it. As with Eko, he has a distaste for guns which isn't the best in this world but he obviously has other strengths. And little bonus for Sophia being a good shot as well.
Don77-Getting there slowly but surely, I'm looking forward to the prison arc as I have huge plans for that already laid out but still gotta get through this season.
Kevinrock8899-Lori continues to hold onto the old world while the others push onwards, but with Sophia learning as well her reasoning is fought against even harder.
The Others-Glad you are enjoying the story, the thing I love is being able to tell this story and change deaths. I also like having the option to just kill characters from Lost who never died, like Hurley, while having survivors live longer, like Eko. Also, I get the others are an awesome group but again I don't see them all together in this world and holding all the awesome Other characters until season 7 or 8 isn't something I want to do. As Ben is coming in sooner than some might think.
Enjoy
Claire doubled over in pain while holding her stomach, "Oh my god, no, no, no, no, this can't be happening. Not now." She said as Lori put her hand on her back,
"Yes sweetie, it's happening now. It's okay." Lori said reassuringly,
Rick looked around for Jack quickly but didn't see him, yet he spotted Jin walking with some firewood, "Jin! Jin get over here!" He exclaimed. Jin looked at him confused for a moment before dropping the wood and running over, "Jin you got to find Jack for us, you get me? You understand?"
Jin thought for a minute trying to think before looking wide eyed, "Doctor! Doctor Jack?"
"Yes, you tell him to come here. Now!" Rick said as he returned to Claire, "You think you can move?"
Claire winced before shaking her head, "No, I-I can't."
"Okay, okay, just hold on." Rick said as he slowly picked her up and carried her to his tent laying her down on his cot, "Alright you're gonna have to do it here, okay?"
Claire looked up at him fearfully, not wanting to answer. "Claire sweetie, you can't ignore this. Your child is coming." Lori said as she took her hand,
"B-but, I don't think I can do this. I can't bring my baby into a place where it isn't safe." She replied in tears,
Lori paused and went very silent before lowering her head, "Claire, nothing is going to happen to your child, I won't let it, everyone here won't let it." Rick said firmly before letting out a small smile, Claire however shut her eyes, ignoring the sheriff's words.
Meanwhile back off the farm Sayid drove the others down the road, each of them silent and agitated from Shane's tactics. Just behind them they heard a car revving then Shane's Tucson came speeding past before cutting in front of them and halting. Sayid slammed on the brakes before putting it in park. "What are you doing?" Sayid snapped out, showing a hint of his own anger,
Shane got out of his car and let out a little sigh, "Listen ya'll I was just trying to give you a taste of what it's like when shit hits the fan. Sayid knows when things go bad they go bad fast and you can't let it cripple you." He explained as the four of them got out,
"Where'd you get that, a fortune cookie?" Sawyer asked with a scoff,
"Experience." Shane retorted,
"So that's what, your apology?" Amy asked as she crossed her arms,
Shane let out a sigh as he took off his police cap, "I crossed the line when I brought the people we've lost into it. So, yeah it's an apology."
"You know you're a real dick sometimes." Kate spat out,
Shane let out a little chuckle, "Yeah, I acknowledge that. I'll tell you what: we've got a lead on Andrea. I'm gonna go check it out. You should all come with me, be my backup. My team."
Amy looked over at Sayid in some shock, hearing about her sister immediately changed her mood. "Well shoot, doesn't that just bring a tear to your eye?" Sawyer said with a smirk,
"If there's any chance...you know I have to go." Amy said to Sayid,
"I know." Sayid replied with a nod, "Then I will go too." Sayid said as he looked over to Shane,
Shane let out a nod before looking back at Sawyer and Kate, "C'mon now, more the merrier." He said with a little smirk,
Kate let out a little sigh, "Alright."
Sawyer looked at Kate with a mixture of surprise and a bit of annoyance before letting out a sigh and giving a quick fake salute, "Aye, aye, captain," He sarcastically muttered while getting back into the car,
"Good, let's saddle up." Shane replied as he walked back to his car.
Meanwhile at camp Sun caught up with Jack just as he was stepping out of Desmond's room, he made sure to check in with the Scotsman as often as he could to monitor his head injury. Even if he was moving around again there was no telling exactly what the injury did, beyond a case of minor amnesia. The doctor's attention quickly shifted as he saw Sun holding her left hand in her right, while a small amount of blood pooled in her palm, "Sun, what happened?"
"I had noticed Hershel working on his fences earlier so I wanted to help by clearing off some of the vines, while I pulled it, a piece of the fence cut me," Sun explained as Jack walked over and quickly inspected her hand,
After a moment Jack said, "Well, doesn't look that deep, so no stitches, but I'll need to clean it and bandage it up. Follow me," He added on while leading the woman down stairs,
As Sun followed Jack she noticed the way he was holding almost forcing himself to walk upright, yet still leaning most of his weight onto the railing. In addition to that, she couldn't help but notice the sweat soaking his collar and the slight paleness on his skin, "Jack...are you alright?" Sun finally asked as they reached the dining room,
"Fine," Jack quickly replied, fighting off a wince as he reached down on the floor to pick up his black medical bag. Sun stared back at him watching as he moved to the table with a slight limp before sitting down. She reluctantly sat down next to him and watched as he dug through the bag and pulled out some peroxide as well as a cloth and bandage.
A few minutes later Jack was finishing up treating Sun's wound when Jin sprinted into the house. The pair watched the man running up the stairs calling out for Jack, "Jin? Jin down here!" Jack called back making the asian man turn back and rush into the room. Jin wasted no time, speaking a mile a minute to Jack, though unfortunately in full Korean."What's he saying Sun?" Jack asked looking over to the woman,
Sun listened for a moment as Jin continued to explain things before turning back to Jack, "He says Claire is having her baby right now."
Jack blinked a few times, his face seeming a little sunk in. "Okay, is she alone? Does he know if her water broke? " He said after shaking his head, "Where is she?" He asked Sun,
Sun turned to Jin and quickly asked him for where Claire was, he thought for a moment and quickly replied. "He says Claire couldn't move, she was by the tents with Rick and Lori. He isn't sure about the rest," Sun replied as Jack got up and slowly walked towards his bag, his legs seemed to be moving weakly. "Jack, are you alright?" She asked while standing up,
Jack pursed his lips fighting the sensation of pain, "Yeah, I'm fine." He quickly said while picking up his bag and turning back to them,
"Should I ask for Hershel?" Sun asked hesitantly while watching him move past her and Jin,
"No, It's fine. I can do this." Jack replied firmly, as he headed towards the front door while clutching his side a bit.
The pair watched him take three more steps before suddenly collapsing to the ground. "Jack!" Jin and Sun exclaimed in unison while quickly running to his side. Jin reached out rolling Jack carefully onto his back, Jack winced and clutched at his side. "Hershel! Hershel!" Jin exclaimed to his wife quickly, Sun let out a quick nod and ran from the house.
Back outside Charlie wandered around the camp, looking for Claire. He hadn't seen her since they returned from gun practice and was starting to worry. He spotted Carol and Sophia hanging up some clothes to dry and quickly walked over to them. "Hey, have you two seen Claire anywhere?"
Sophia looked up to him and thought for just a moment, "I saw her talking to mister Grimes. Then it looked like she was sick or something." She replied a little absentminded,
"What? Sophia honey, when did you see this?" Carol asked in concern immediately,
"A few minutes ago, they were over there." Sophia replied pointing towards Rick's tent,
Charlie looked over to Carol a bit wide eyed before quickly walking towards the tents, "Sophia I want you to go find Dale alright, you stay right next to him until I come back." Carol said, causing Sophia to let out a nod, She then turned and followed Charlie down to the tent.
As soon as the two reached the tent and looked inside they heard Claire let out a pain whine. Charlie quickly burst into the tent seeing Rick standing, looking a bit worried, and Lori holding Claire's hand tightly. "Claire! What's wrong?! Is she alright?!"
"She's having her child." Rick replied while putting his hand out, attempting to calm him,
"What!? She needs Jack then! We need to-" Charlie replied in a panic,
"Relax, Jin is getting Jack, maybe Hershel too. We just need to stay calm." Rick replied as Carol stepped past the two men.
"Hey," Carol said softly while kneeling down next to Claire, "How are you feeling?"
"It-it really hurts." Claire replied back weakly,
"I know sweetie, but it's going to be okay." Lori replied softly before peering back at Rick and Charlie, "Carol hold her hand." Lori said slowly getting to her feet, "I'll be right back okay, you just relax." Lori whispered to Claire before turning to Rick and Charlie, "Okay, let's go. She needs some room and so will Jack when he gets here."
"What no, I can't just-" Charlie replied resistantly,
"You can be here for her but outside, let's go. Both of you." Lori immediately shot back,
"She's right, Charlie. We're just in the way right now." Rick said in agreement, leading Charlie out of the tent with Lori in tow. As the three got a bit of distance from the tent they both looked at Lori who clearly had something to say, "What is it?"
"She...she's not trying," Lori said, searching for the words to say,
"What? What the hell does that even mean?" Charlie asked back with a look of bewilderment,
"I don't think she's willing to have this child right now, she's holding back, ignoring what's happening and if she doesn't wake up and see what she has to do, this could go very wrong," Lori explained, "Jack is going to need her help but I don't know if she'll give it,"
Rick hung his head for a moment, shaking it, before he looked up towards the house, "Where is he?"
"We need Jack here, now," Charlie said urging Rick that they should go and look. Rick let out a nod and quickly the two jogged over towards the main house, leaving Lori.
Lori watched the pair for a moment, then glanced back at the tent before a smell caught her nose. She looked over to the center of camp seeing Dale, Locke, Ana-Lucia, and T-Dog cooking some lunch with some fresh meat provided by Hershel. She could feel her stomach slowly turning over as Dale began to pass the others each a burger fresh off the pan. Lori turned her head and covered her nose with her hair and wandered off, making it to a nearby log to sit on while clutching her stomach.
Dale noticed the woman's sickening reaction and decided to take this moment to finally speak with her about the things. As the older man walked towards Lori, Ana glanced following him with her eyes, trying to make out what was going on between the two.
Dale approached the woman who was letting out a slow exhale to calm her stomach. "My wife was pregnant once," Dale said causing Lori to look up in surprise, "Miscarried and we, uh, we didn't try again after that,"
Lori took a long pause, "I'm so sorry," She finally uttered out,
"The thing I remember most was, how nauseated she became from the smell of cooking meat," Dale continued, "And she was a meat eating gal, my wife," He said with a small smile and a toss of his hands, Lori let out a few nervous breaths but couldn't help herself from laughing as well, "That thanksgiving, the turkey? She couldn't be in the house two days until it was aired out, Poor thing,"
"Glenn told you?" Lori finally asked,
"What did you expect? The boy has no guile," Dale sighed, "And I'm sure Charlie wasn't far behind either,"
"Because of Shane?" Ana asked while approaching the pair,
Lori looked up at her with wide eyes before looking back to Dale who merely looked at her expectantly, "My god, was it really that obvious?" She weakly asked the man,
"No no, I don't think anyone knew," Dale assured Lori while kneeling down, "I didn't, not for sure," The elder then looked back to Ana who was standing silent, looking at him with slight expectation, "Here I let you two talk," He softly said nodding to Ana before getting up and walking away.
Ana gave Dale a thankful nod and waited for a moment before approaching Lori who sniffed and quickly wiped her eyes, "Look, I thought my husband was dead," Lori defended while Ana sat down next to her, "And I felt like I died with him. I needed to feel something...anything. And now I hate myself for it,"
"And the baby?" Ana gently asked,
"It's Rick, none of the rest of it matters," Lori sharply said without thought,
Ana nodded and looked around for a moment before softly saying, "Has Shane tried anything since that night at the CDC? You think he would think he's the father?"
"No," Lori lowly replied, "I don't know what he'd think but it wouldn't matter, this child is Rick's,"
"Alright, then what are you afraid of?" Ana asked,
"Memories are what keep me going now. Memories of what life used to be. I have a deep well on me, I still can remember joy, but I think Carl's well is already running dry. And this baby? The baby won't have any good memories at all, only fear and pain," Lori spat out in disgust,
"Come on, you can't think like that," Ana said in an urging tone, "We need to think of a better future as hard as that may be to see. We find strength in each other, fight back against what this world has thrown at us. This can't last forever," Anna strongly replied, though the latina could sense her own disbelief in her words,
"You really believe my baby has a chance? Look me in the eye and tell me that this baby will grow up to be as old as Dale, live a long happy life and die peacefully. Tell me that's what you really believe," Lori shot back with giving her wet eyes a quick wipe.
Ana stared back at Lori, let out a low exhale unable to reply. Lori nodded, knowing she was right and jumped to her feet, "I was pregnant," Ana finally said causing Lori to halt. The mother turned back and looked at her in surprise, "It was a few months before all this started, before Rick got shot."
"You never...I never knew," Lori stammered back,
"I didn't know what I was going to do, I wasn't sure if I was ready." Ana explained, her tone turning more stoic with each word. The officer's face tightened in anger for the briefest of moments before saying, "I never got the chance to decide, my accident…" Ana said softly causing Lori to cup a hand over her mouth in horror, "It was taken from me, and it killed me everyday, it left hate and anger. It's still there but I keep pushing back," Ana continued while standing up then calmly said, "Just promise me you'll think about it, imagine a world with and without it," She finished before separating from Lori.
Meanwhile back in the house Rick and Charlie came jogging through the door just to see Hershel and Jin lifting Jack up and bringing him over to the dining room table. Sun quickly cleared it and the pair laid the doctor flat on his back. "Jack? Jack are you still with us?" Hershel asked while turning his face to his,
"I...I'm fine, I think I'm just dehydrated," Jack muttered back,
"Well Jack, I respectfully disagree with that," Hershel replied while lifting her shirt and pressing down on the man's side,
"What's going?" Rick quickly asked,
Jack let out a short groan of agony from Hershel's push, "It's his appendix, with this pain and him collapsing it's clear, they need to be removed,"
"What? Right now?" Charlie asked in shock and even some minor frustration, "Claire is having her baby! We need you two!"
"Charlie calm down," Rick dismissed, "Does the surgery have to happen right now?"
"He has already collapsed, he's in severe pain, if he ends up waiting or moving too much they may burst. And if that happens, he will die," Hershel replied without looking up, instead digging through Jack's bag of supplies, "Sun, I need you to go get Patricia, tell her to get me my tools. Please tell your husband to go into the upstairs bathroom, retrieve my razor so we can clean the area."
Sun quickly turned to Jin, told him of his task before the pair ran off, "What are you going to do about Claire!?" Charlie exclaimed,
"Can you bring her to us?" Jack winced while attempting to sit up only for Hershel to push him down,
"Jack, you need to stop moving," Hershel firmly stated,
"She can't move, we were able to bring her to my tent at least," Rick explained,
"It'd be best not to move her then," Hershel calmly replied, "Now Charlie, Rick, I'd like to tell you Jack or I will be there soon but that in all likelihood will not be the case."
"What are you saying?" Rick asked stepping towards Hershel,
"I'm saying, you're going to have to handle this on your own the best you can," Hershel sternly replied, "Take blankets, water, whatever you need but you'll have to get her through this alone,"
"W-What are you talking about? We need to...you can't just-" Charlie stammered back only to be cut off by Rick,
"Okay, we can do that," Rick confidently agreed,
"Okay," Jack winced, "Listen you're going to need to time Claire's contractions, you don't...you don't want her to push too soon or too late," Jack painted a few short times, "When you are able to tell that they are one minute apart, that's when she needs to push, but make sure it's with them until the baby's head is clear and then after that as hard as he possibly can,"
"But you can't just...she needs-" Charlie weakly began to argue,
"Charlie, she can do this, we're going to make sure," Rick assured the british man, "Take care of him Hershel,"
"I'll do my best," Hershel merely replied while standing up and helping take Jack's shirt off, intently working things out in his head while Rick and Charlie headed towards the front door.
In the meantime Shsne, along with Sawyer, Sayid, Kate, and Amy drove down the abandoned Georgia streets until they reached the freshly built area of Wiltshire Estates. Leaving behind their cars in favor of searching on foot, the group made their way into the seemingly empty community. "Listen y'all, mistake or not, you keep your ears open and alert, ain't no telling what might be around here," Shane firmly told the others,"
"Do you really think my sister might be here?" Amy asked Sayid with a hopeful expression,
"It's the best lead we've found so far," Sayid softly replied as he clutched his pistol scanning the area, but it's difficult to say,"
The group of survivors slowly began to walk down the street, looking around at the abandoned high end houses of the gated community. The eeriness of the complete silence that enveloped them putting each survivor further on edge with every step, "I don't like this, there is nothing here?" Kate whispered over to Sawyer,
"Easy Freckles, don't jump overboard before the wave comes," Sawyer dryly replied, attempting to calm the woman, ignoring his own feelings,
Back at the camp, Charlie and Rick made their way back into Claire's tent to explain the situation to her and Carol while Lori made her way over to Glenn who was chopping wood. Without a moment's hesitation Glenn looked over to Lori and spoke, "I'm sorry, I tried to keep it between me and Charlie but it just came out to Dale, I didn't mean to-"
"It's okay," Lori easily replied, "I never should have put you in that position. I've been thinking about what you said, needing help during all this?" Lori continued, looking at the young man expectantly, "And you're right, I do,"
"Name it!" Glenn instantly replied, ready to make up for spilling Lori's secret from earlier,
"If you're still willing to make a run into town for me…," Lori sheepishly replied,
"I'm you man," Glenn smiled back,
"Thank you," Lori instantly replied while embracing the young man into hug,
"It's okay it's not a big deal really, I know Locke was going down later anyway,I can get you whatever without him noticing, if that helps," Glenn replied with slight uncertainty, Lori nodded and headed off rather quickly only handing the man a small list just as last time,.
Twenty minutes later Glenn, Locke, and Maggie were making their way back towards town on horseback, "If everything goes well, we should be back within two hours," Locke thought aloud, "Medicine and food should be our main goal, like it or not, we're going through them faster than anything else,"
"Yeah, the pharmacy is still pretty stocked up," Glenn replied to the elder, "People seem to be sticking to the sign about taking what they need only,
"It may be worth our wild to igone that and just take what we can carry," Locke dryly replied, thinking about the supplies that may before gone before anyone realizes,
Glenn silently nodded back and the trio continued in silence, Maggie and Glenn eventually began to lag behind Locke and the asian man took this change to speak to the farm girl, "You didn't have to come, you could just hate me from a distance...please just say something,"
Maggie stayed silent, unsure if she even wanted to respond to the man before she felt a swelling of anger in her chest, "I asked for your trust and you betrayed it! My dad's pissed at me, your turn,"
Locke's brow raised, yet he decided to pretend he couldn't hear the pair, granting them the illusion of privacy they needed, "So your dad thinks they're sick? You agree with that? Even after what you saw at the well?"
"I'm not sure what I saw at the well," Maggie indignantly retorted,
"You know what you saw," Locke calmly interjected, "What you choose to believe...that's always up for debate,"
"I'm not an idiot, John, I know how you people see them," Maggie snapped back,
"If you'd seen Atlanta, you'd not have a barn full of walkers, believe me!" Glenn nearly begged as the trio reached the town and got from their horses,
"I wish you'd stop calling them that." Maggie growled back,
Glenn stared back at the girl with uncertainty, "Well, what do you call them?"
"Mom! Shawn!" Maggie shot out, emotion flooding over her face and eyes, "Mr and Mrs Fischer, Lacey, Duncan, can you two understand that?"
"I understand loss better than most," Locke easy replied, "And I know how hard it is to...let go. Are these people in your barn still your family and friends, or just husks of decaying flesh, I can't say. But, are the people you knew, the ones you still hold the memories with gone? I'm sorry to say, yes."
"You don't...you can't understand…" Maggie lowly muttered back,
"My sister Genie died when I was a boy," Locke interrupted, halting Maggie's response, "Fell off the monkey bars and broke her neck...and my mother, well my foster mother, she blamed herself of course." Maggie squeezed her eyes shut at the thought, "She thought she wasn't watching close enough and that she could have done more to protect her. So she stopped eating, sleeping, talking...people talked, assuming she was going to do something to herself, I guess. Anyway, about six months after Genie's funeral this golden retriever shows up at the house out of nowhere, beautiful healthy dog, no collar, no tags. She walks right into the house and sits on the floor, looking right at my mother. After a minute of them staring at one another my mother bursts into tears, the dog stayed with us, slept in Genie's old bed until the day my mother passed and then disappeared back into the wild just like that,"
Glenn ran a hand along the back of his neck as he soaked in the story for a moment, "Wait, so, you're saying that the dog was your sister?"
Locke let out a lighthearted laugh, "Well that'd be rather foolish to think, but my mother thought so. She needed it to be true, she had to hold on to Genie somehow, and she thought that dog was her coming back to tell her it was okay and that the accident wasn't her fault." Maggie slowly shook her head and stepped into the pharmacy without a word to Locke, "You go ahead, I'm going to grab a few things from another store,"
Glenn nodded back and swiftly rushed inside catching up to Maggie who merely asked, "What does she want now?"
"I can't say…" Glenn replied causing Maggie to look back with an immediate exhale of disdain,
"So when one of them asks you to keep your mouth shut-" The country girl began to say only for Glenn to hand her the list of items Lori made,
"Crawl out of my butt," Glenn said with a mixture of pleading and irritation of his own, "And help me look, please,"
Maggie glanced down at the list and scoffed at the items, "You have got to be kidding me,"
The duo separated and began to search through the store, grabbing a few odd items here and there. Maggie soon made her way into the pharmacy and as she looked through the medicine a rotten arm suddenly sprung through the other side of the shelving unit, grabbing the girls arm and yanking it towards it's blackened teeth. "No! No!" Maggie cried out while trying to pull her arm free, "Glenn, help me, get it off me!"
"Maggie!" Glenn exclaimed while running over, grabbing a metal shelf right off the rack and jumping onto the counter. Without a moment's hesitation the Asian man swung it into the skull of the walker, nearly decapitating it and sending it to the floor, "Are you okay, did it bite you?!" Glenn asked while hopping down and pulling Maggie into an embrace,
"Glenn!" Maggie cried out once more as the walker, head barely attached, got back to its feet growling at the pair. Glenn stepped forward and reached for his machete but the pair jumped as a knife suddenly flew by, burying itself deep in the skull of the walker.
The pair looked towards the entrance and saw Locke, eyes wide and slightly panting, "Are you two alright?" Maggie let out a whimper and pressed herself back into Glenn's chest, letting him embrace her once more.
Back in Wiltshire Estates, Shane and Sayid led Amy, Kate and Sawyer further down into the gated community. "We're gonna have to go house to house, start out on the far side and work our way back towards the cars," Shane whispered to Sayid, scanning the houses and yards intently as he walked,
"We can split up, do it quicker, I can clear one house with Amy, you take another with Kate and Sawyer," Sayid replied following in Shane's footsteps, "We haven't much daylight left,"
"I hear what you're saying but I don't like it, we stick together in here...something about this place ain't right," Shane muttered back,
"If Andrea really made it this far out, then she's gotta have a real chance, right?" Amy spoke up, looking at the pair expectantly,
Shane pursed his lips and turned away while Sayid hesitated for just a moment before nodding, "Getting back to civilization would be a very good step, she may be here or following a road back to the highway,"
"No chance in hell," Sawyer muttered out causing Kate to scowl at him, "What we're both thinking it, I'm just saying it,"
Moments later Shane was kicking open the first house in the back of Wilshire, the five survivors flooded into the building, though Sayid and Shane made sure to lead as they cleared room by room. "Andera? Andrea, it's Amy," Amy called out, ignoring the soft shushes Shane attempted to keep her quiet,
"Christ, they walled off the damn hallway," Sawyer said to the others as they reached the kitchen, noticing a freshly made drywall with a ripped out hole at the bottom,
"They tried to make a stand here," Shane replied with a short shake of his head, ducking down, he stepped through the hole and continued,
"Is that blood on the wall?" Kate asked with a short gulp,
"Someone was pulled through it from the other side...violently," Sayid replied as he too knelt down and followed Shane.
Amy easily continued to follow Amy though Kate hesitated looking to Sawyer. The blonde man motioned his gun to the hole and with a shrug said, "Ladies first,"
As the five survivors continued to search the house they made their way into the attached garage, recoiling as they found it burnt and with half a dozen charred corpses on the ground, "Damnit...god damn it...she's not here, she was never here," Amy said in anguish while kneeling down,
"It's alright, we'll keep looking, we're not giving up on her," Kate said to the blonde girl only for the group to jump at the sound of dozens of shuffling feet and snarls coming from the other side of the garage door,
"Damn it, come on y'all, let's move!" Shane announced ushering the others back through the house as a few walkers began to crawl through the bottom opening of the garage door. The group rushed out the front door and saw over two dozen walkers dotting the street and even surrounding the cars, "Focus on the road, Sayid, help me clear the damn cars!"
Marching down the steps and up the road Shane and Sayid shot the walkers around their vehicles with ease, "I'm getting the car started, let's go, now!" Sayid yelled out. Kate and Sawyer shuffled along with the man, taking a few more shots, nailing their targets before jumping into the backseat of Sayid's car,
Shane looked over and saw a walker getting close to Amy as she fumbled with her pistol, attempting to clear a jam. "Sayid go, get them the hell outta here, I got this!" Shane shouted out and though Sayid wanted to argue, he did as told and sped off, leaving Shane and Amy behind. As Amy continued to work on her gun she looked to Shane, expecting him to clear the dead away from her as they closed in, but the man merely looked back to her expectantly, "C'mon now, focus, don't panic, clear the blockage,"
"Are you fucking serious?!" Amy exclaimed back,
"I got your back, now go on!" Shane snapped back just as Amy finally saw the jammed round pop from the slide and a fresh round take its place. All in an instant Amy raised her gun and fired, landing a headshot on the walker in front of her. She tightened her grip on the pistol and fired again, and again, landing two more headshots, "Good, that's it!" Shane praised, "Now c'mon let's go!" He ordered while running back to his Tucson,
"Agh!" Amy screamed while continued to fire her gun, her eyes flaming with fury, each shot landing into a walker,
"Amy! Amy, let's fucking go!" Shane growled while rushing over to the girl and roughly pulling her towards the car, snapping her out of her fugue state.
Back on the farm, Locke, Glenn, and Maggie returned from their nearly ill fated run into town. Maggie, seeing nothing but red, stormed Lori while Locke and Glenn followed, "Maggie, hey, please, take it easy," Glenn begged,
"Hey, we got your stuff!" Maggie yelled out to Lori who paused, stunned by the outburst,
"U-Uh, okay, well please, come on inside and we can-" Lori attempted to reply,
"Why? Nothing to hide. We got your special delivery right here! You Lotion, your shampoo, soap opera digest!" Maggie seethed while reaching into the bag, throwing each of the items at Lori's feet, "Oh and here are your damn abortion pills! Next time you need something, you get it your damn self, we aren't your servants!" Maggie finished before storming off. Glenn stood for a moment, almost working up to an apology before turning and rushing off after Maggie leaving Lori and John behind.
It didn't take long for Glenn to catch up to Maggie, just a short ways outside of camp, "Look that wasn't cool, Locke didn't even know about Lori-"
"What? You think I care about what secrets that bitch keeps after she almost got us killed?" Maggie retorted,
"I should have gone alone," Glenn sighed, "So if you're going to be mad at anyone be mad at me,"
"Of course, you'll take the heat. You know for a smart guy, you're really stupid," Maggie grunted back,
"Um, okay now I'm confused, because it sounded like you were paying me a compliment but-" Glenn stumbled out only for Maggie to walk over and pull him into a passionate kiss,
"Shut up," She said in a husky breath, "I've already lost three people I care about most in this world. You're smart, you're brave, and you're a leader. You don't know it and your group doesn't want you to see it, they rather just keep you gathering peaches. You're walker bait, and I can't take you turning into one of those things," Maggie finished before rushing off, leaving Glenn in the field with her words ringing in his ears.
Back inside the camp Locke easily made his way into Lori's tent where she sat at the table, tears in her eyes as she thought about Maggie's words as well. "How bad was it?" She asked the bald man who rested his hands on his hips,
"It was a close call, one of them grabbed Maggie, just snuck up on her," Locke replied, "Could have happened to anyone,"
"If one of you didn't return because you were getting something for me I-" Lori began to say before a break in her voice stopped her,
"But we come back, risks are everywhere, and it's no one's fault when something goes wrong," Locke reassured the woman. With a short pause he ran a hand along her mouth and pointed to the pills, "Will they work?"
"I...I'm not sure, I don't even know if I want them too," Lori replied, staring down at the morning after pills that she clutched in her hands,
"Lori, I can't tell you what to do, no one can. But what I can do is offer a little advice, this decision, you're not the only one affected by it...so maybe, don't make the choice all alone," Lori shut her eyes and Locke in turn left the tent, leaving the mother to think in private. Minutes passed, and tears were rolling down Lori's cheeks as she thought everything over. With shaking hands she pulled out half a dozen pills and quickly swallowed them with a cup of water.
In the meantime, Amy and Shane were driving back towards the farm, the latter was focusing on the road, attempting to catch sight of the back of Sayid's car. Amy, still coursing with adrenaline, looked over to Shane in a surprising act, reached over and groped the man. Shane slammed on the break and looked back at her, "Well...come on then," With a burst of energy Amy jumped to Shane's lap, pressing her lips against his, and just before sunset, far after Sayid, Kate and Sawyer, the duo returned to the farm.
"Thank god, I was about to head back out looking for you two," Sayid said as Shane and Amy exited their vehicle, "Are you alright?"
"Fine," Amy replied, keeping her eyes off both Sayid and Shane,
Dale approached the trio and looked them over, raising a brow he turned to face Amy, "No luck?"
"No," Amy quickly replied,
"What happened out there?" Dale continued, watching as Amy looked up, though rather than looking to him, she merely looked to Shane before diverting her gaze one more,
"We, uh-" Amy started to say only for Shane to take control,
"Walkers got us cornered for a minute there, we were able to take 'em out and get out alright. We'll cover some more ground tomorrow," Shane easily explained,
"Come on, let's get you cleaned up," Sayid said while walking with Amy back towards the tents while Shane stepped past Dale making his way up the other end.
Dale blinked a few times before a frown began to form, "Shane,"
"Huh? Yeah?" Shane grunted as he turned back, a small pleased grin on his face,
"I was thinking you got yourself that fancy new car, plenty of fuel, more than enough for you to get far from here." Dale sharply told the man who let out a short chuckle in response,
"What, you telling me to leave?" Shane asked with smirk,
"I know you've been planning to, maybe it's finally time you do it," Dale shot back, the elders gaze staying locked on Shane,
"What...is this because of Amy?" Shane scoffed,
"I'm looking out for the group," Dale replied with a shake of his head,
"Oh you think the group would be better off without me, Dale?" Shane scoffed, "Why don't you tell that to Rick and Lori, that boy would be dead if I didn't put my ass on the line,"
"Along with Otis's and Desmond's, right?" Dale retorted, visibly shaking Shane, "Now you've been vague about that night, and what happened. And you're the only one with a memory of it,"
With hollow words Shane responded, "Otis died a hero, and Desmond nearly joined him, show some damn gratitude,"
"I wasn't there," Dale said as he stepped closer to Shane,
"No, man, you weren't," Shane instantly replied, doing the same,
"But I was there the day you raised your gun on Rick," Dale reminded the deputy, "You had him in your sights and you held him there," Shane rubbed his head and let out a sharp exhale, "I know what kind of man you are,"
"What, you think I'd shoot Rick? That is my best friend, that's a man I love, I love him like a brother. You think that's the kind of man I am?" Shane asked, her eyes turning almost wild as he began to press forward on the old man, "Let's just think that through, so you think I'm the kind of man to kill my best friend, what you think I'd do to a guy I don't even like? Especially when he starts throwing accusations my way," Just then the pair heard a few sticks snap and Shane turned, seeing Eko standing a few feet away, glaring down on him in silence. Shane returned the glare, looked back to Dale and let out a final scoff, storming off while shaking his head. Dale looked to Eko, let out a fearful exhale of uncertainty.
Okay, it's been a hell of a long time since I wrote for this story, I basically archived it and moved on for literal years due to lack of interest in the tv series as a whole but every once in awhile I thought about it and I still loved the idea of the Lost characters being involved with the story. So I figured I'd come back, I'd make the story my own once again, and this time follow the show that I liked, changed what I hated, and later on, maybe just write later seasons all on my own without their direction. So with that idea in mind, I also want to get a little feedback on your thoughts. Are there any major things you'd want to see changed from the show? Are there characters so far in the story you think we need to see more of? Do you want Shane to live or die? If you have any thoughts at all I'd love to hear them and I hope you enjoyed this very late release on a very old story.
