Katniss POV:
Today was the day of info for Peeta and me. Haymitch was in front of the room, pointing to a slide in a slideshow. The slideshow was filled with tributes and I didn't know any of them. I was pretty sure none of them even came from Panem.
"Hello, Earth to Katniss!" says Haymitch, before taking a long sip from his wine glass and refilling it, "As I was saying, this year's Hunger Games won't be like before. Let me repeat it for you sweetheart, as you didn't feel like listening. These are the first seven tributes from left to right; Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, Leo Valdez, Piper Mclean, Jason Grace, Hazel Levesque and Frank Zhang. They're all demi-gods, half god, half human. They'll tell you their powers when you meet them, but their main job is to protect the world from monsters." I didn't know what to do with this information. Demigods? Haymitch said that casually, as if he expected us to believe him.
"Demigods?! First of all, I don't even think they're from Panem, and second-"
"That would be 'cause they aren't from Panem, sweetheart, they're one time visitors. And you might want to listen without interruptions because you're one of the only ones without any special powers." Haymitch said, interrupting my outburst. I looked over at Peeta. He met my eyes and shook his head, as if to say Don't argue, he's drinking again. It's probably just a regular hunger games. I sighed and looked back to the slideshow. It was now showing two people, a boy with golden hair and eyes. He looked like he thought he was the best and he would kill anyone who would come in his path. The girl on the other hand was short and had red hair and green eyes. They both had weird looking tattoos all over their body and their weapons were glowing. Glowing. "These two are very strong. Try to make them your allies. The demigods too, preferably. They're called shadowhunters. They hunt demons and they're both half angel half human. Their purpose is to protect the human world from demons or other demonic forces. Both of them are stronger than most other shadowhunters since they have more than regular angel blood in them. Their names are Jace and Clary, left to right. As I heard, they both have a weird history of last names." Haymitch smirked. Now shadowhunters? Definitely drinking. I rolled my eyes again and tried not to get discouraged.
Haymitch switched to the next slide which showed two people, one boy and one girl. They both had regular tattoos, not like the 'Shadowhunters'. They both looked terrifyingly fierce and not like someone you wanted to cross. The girl had blonde short hair and the boy had dark hair.
"These two are people you might want to make allies with too. The girl might be easy to convince but the boy is independent. They're both what you call divergent. They're both perfectly ordinary, just like you two, but they were trained as warriors or soldiers. They both have good fighting skills. Their names, from left to right are Beatrice and Tobias, but prefer to be called Tris and Four." This gave me courage, as they were regular and we might have a chance against them.
Haymitch looked back at us. "You got that so far? In other words, the only way that you might even have a slim chance at surviving this is to make allies with the powerful people, also known as everyone but you."
"Very helpful and inspirational, Haymitch. Thanks." I said sarcastically as Peeta turned pale and I rolled my eyes. "I have a good feeling about this now."
Haymitch glared at me and switched to the next slide. This one had four people, two with red hair, one with black and a lightning shaped scar on his forehead and the last one had brown bushy hair. They were all holding things that looked like sticks in front of them, confident expressions on their faces.
"These four are kind and might be easy to make allies. They're very powerful, too. They're witches and wizards, all except for the last one, Hermione Granger. She has regular human blood in her but has magical powers, so she would be what they call, a muggle-born wizard. The rest of their names are Ginny Weasley, Ron Weasley and Harry Potter. Their purpose is to keep the wizarding world hidden and protect the humans from their own kind that went bad."
Haymitch went to the next slide. This one showed a picture of five people who looked completely normal, other than the weird clothes they were wearing.
"These five are nice and good allies. They all have powerful talents and Sophie most of all. They're all elves and come from a place in the center of the Earth, which the humans used to call the Lost Cities. The humans all forgot about it now, but the elves still come here from time to time to assist us. Their names are Sophie, Fitz, Keefe, Biana and Dex."
Peeta and I coughed. Center of the Earth? I sighed and decided to listen to Haymitch since it didn't look like he was joking.
Haymitch switched to the next slide. This one showed two people, a boy and a girl. They both looked completely normal as well, but I was sure that after the last five slides, I was wrong.
"You know what, all of these would make good allies. You get your pick. The girl, Lena is what you call a caster. Her kind are sort of like the witches and wizards but they all have their own specific powers. Casters get claimed, either light or dark for life, when they're 16, but Lena is different and her power is rarer. She'll explain it to you when you meet her. The boy on the other hand has no supernatural powers, but he has a good aim." he directed the last statement at me. I needed to get the bow in the arena before him.
"I'm not killing any of these people. Their goal is to make the world a better place. This is wrong." Peeta said, startling me. I knew where he was coming from, though. If everything Haymitch said was right, most of their goals were to protect normal people, like us from monsters, demons and other evil people or creatures.
"Me neither." I said.
"Too bad. It's the only way you can survive."
