Clary's POV:
I woke up in a bed that was not my own that night. I could barely remember what happened the day before but as soon as I got up, I knew something was wrong. I saw Jace, in the bed beside me, stir.
"Where are we?" Jace asked, looking around. I shrugged and walked over to the window. When I opened the curtains, I heard a knock on the door. I searched my pockets and behind me, Jace did the same. I couldn't find any of my weapons, which was odd, because some of them were well hidden. Jace went to the kitchen and brought out two kitchen knives. I took one and opened the door carefully. As soon as I did, Jace lunged so fast I could barely see him, and landed on top of a man, who looked like he was in his 50s.
"Where are we and how did we get here?" Jace demanded.
"You were taken here as a token of peace for Panem, chosen to compete in the hunger games. The hunger games is a battle to the death where only one out of 24 people can come out alive. My name is Coriolanus Snow. You may call me President Snow while you're here or alive."
Jace snorted. "You actually believe that we'll agree to play your games? Well you know what I think? There's two of us and one of you so you'd want to run now, as fast as you can."
"Actually, I'm here to take you both to the training room, where you train with the other tributes before you enter the arena." Snow answered, calmly.
"Look, mundane. You have two choices. Run or die." Jace threatened.
"It's you who has the choices. Come the easy way, or hard way." Snow said, and when Jace rolled his eyes, he whistled. At that moment, the door burst open and an army of soldiers, kind of like the Storm Troopers in Star Wars, tried to grab them. I could only do so much against a whole army. Beside me, I could see Jace struggling, trying to fight off ten soldiers at once. As he gave up, a hand clamped over my mouth and nose and my eyes felt heavy. I gave up struggling and fell asleep.
Tris POV:
I woke up in a room so unfamiliar and very unlike dauntless headquarters. I got off the bed and looked around for Tobias. I heard a door rattling behind me and I went toward it. Tobias looked at me through the window and mouthed Where are we? I shook my head and gestured to him to move aside. As soon as he did, I kicked the door, trying to open it. I didn't expect it to work so easily. As soon as I kicked it, the whole door came tumbling down and I went inside. The room Tobias was put in was way different than mine. It looked like some kind of training room. It had empty floors, the same boxing rings as the dauntless headquarters, and weird weapons I didn't recognize. I was pretty sure it had every fighting tool in the world. I knew immediately what this was for. Yesterday, a strange man, who didn't look like anyone I had seen from any faction, came to tell us that he wanted to take us as a 'token of peace' for some weird place called Panem. We were told that we had to compete in a battle called the Hunger Games where only one out of 24 people could come out alive. Tobias and I had killed many people in our lives, but this was different. We had to kill innocent people, who were also probably taken forcibly from wherever in the world they came from. Just so Snow and his 'Capitol' could be entertained by a 'game'.
"If I ever see Snow or any of his 'Peacekeepers' again, I'll kill them." I said, because this was evil. Plain evil.
