effervescent

"To the firm of Pearson and kiss my ass."

They had finally gotten Hardman out, and now he was sitting in his office, celebrating over champagne and laughter and dancing, surrounded by the two most important women in his life.

He was dancing with Jessica and Donna was turning herself around and then he shifted to dance with the redhead and it's been a while since he's been this happy. He takes a moment just to stare at these ladies who run his life and he truly is mystified by them.

They're still dancing and celebrating when Jessica's phone rings and she steps out of his office to take the call, leaving them alone.

She hasn't noticed Jessica's absence and so he keeps it moving, but stares her down. She's a wonder. She's effervescent, overflowing around him like the bubbles in his glass.

He is once again taken aback by her, so carefree and happy. She is light and free, moving to the music and before he knows it he's grabbing her by the waist, moving along with her. They don't touch like this, and as soon as she's in his arms he remembers why. It's too much, to have her close like this.

As one song fades into the next he finally spins her out and her breath hitches and they stare for a moment before she breaks the tension and shakes her hips and he's glad she gave him an out because he needed the break.

He thinks getting rid of Hardman was amazing, but having her back at his desk is way more meaningful.
