On May 9, the world of music lost one of its greatest legends. Little Richard passed away at age 87.
As a deleted scene from chapter 7 of Going on and on and on's and my collection The Lost Memories, I thought it would be fun if, during Angelina's welcome party, Rachel and Noah sing one of their favorite songs to her. This brings back great memories of their father for them, and they know they can share them with their sister, since they have to tell her what he was like. Thanks to Going on and on and on for helping with the story. Little Richard's music is not mine, and on a more serious note, rest in peace, Little Richard.
Everyone was having a lot of fun at Angelina's welcome party. She had received a lot of nice gifts from Rachel and Noah's friends, including a plush rabbit, which her mother had said was from her late father. Rachel and Noah had even made her a photo album full of pictures of him, so she'd know who he was, and what he was like.
"This is nice," April smiled. "I love how you made that photo album for Angelina."
"We had all those pictures of Papa, and we wanted to make sure Angie had something to remember him by," Rachel smiled.
"We've got pictures of him too, in our own photo albums," Noah agreed, bringing over a cup of punch for April. "And we've got our own plush animals and things so we can have something too."
Rachel nodded, thinking of the teddy bear and the cap that their father had given her when she was little.
Noah smiled beside her as he thought of the plush monkey and wood carvings that he had been given when he was younger.
At the same time, Makayla was dancing near the karaoke machine with James. "I'm glad we were able to do this," she said as the song was ending. "And James, it was nice of you to find all that music for Angelina."
"It's no problem," James smiled. "I just remembered a lot of the songs my birth mother used to sing to me and Amber, and I made a copy of them, which I put on a CD for her."
"You played that when we were setting up the party," Amber smiled. "Those songs were wonderful!"
"You've got a real talent for music," Rachel agreed.
As she watched everyone dancing and having fun, Angelina squealed as she put the rabbit in her mouth.
"You like this, Angie?" Makayla smiled.
Angelina giggled as she watched everyone dancing. She was getting used to seeing so many nice people, and she was liking the music and hearing everyone sing.
"We'll have to play James' CD for you again, won't we?" Noah asked. He turned to April. "Mom, I hope it's okay with you, but I want to borrow the CD and tape a few songs that I heard and that I like, so I can have a copy of them."
"That's fine, Noah," April smiled. "Rachel told me that she wants to do that too."
"I'll have to come over and make a copy of the CD too," Makayla agreed. "Some of the songs on there were really cool!"
"Sure, come over any time," Rachel invited.
"This is going to be great," Makayla smiled, letting Angelina play with her finger.
"Mom, I thought of another song Angie might like," Noah continued, holding up a different CD. "I remember Papa singing this to me and Ray-Ray once when we were sad about something, and it really cheered us up."
"I remember," April smiled. "You had a cold, and Rachel had to miss out on going out with her friends to help me take care of you. Her friends and I made it up to her the next weekend, but you felt better when your father sang that song."
"James says that music makes everything better," Rachel smiled.
"It does indeed," Ruth smiled. "And the songs you've been playing are wonderful!"
"Yes they are, but Rachel, what song are you talking about?" Makayla asked as she approached the group.
"Have you ever heard this one?" Rachel grinned as she gave James the CD and took Noah's hand as she started singing.
A-bop-bop-a-loom-op a-lop-bop-boom
Tutti frutti au rutti
Tutti frutti au rutti
Tutti frutti au rutti
Tutti frutti au rutti
Tutti frutti au rutti
A-bop-bop-a-loom-op a-lop-bop-boom
"Of course I know that one!" Makayla smiled.
When James heard the song start, he grinned as he said to Amber, "You remember when we were little and Dad would sing this?"
"Yes, and I always loved that!" Amber smiled.
"We both did!" James grinned. As he remembered dancing around with Amber to this song, he sang as he spun her, I've got a girl, named Sue
She know just what to do
I got a girl, named Sue
She knows just what to do
Noah grinned as he took Rachel's hand as he joined in, She rocks to the east
She rolls to the west
She's the gal that I love best
"Let's dance too, Angie!" April smiled.
Angelina giggled as April danced her around and joined in, Tutti frutti au rutti
Tutti frutti au rutti
Tutti frutti au rutti
Tutti frutti au rutti
Tutti frutti au rutti
A-bop-bop-a-loom-op a-lop-bop-boom
As James spun Amber, he sang to her I've got a girl, named Daisy
She almost drives me crazy
I've got a girl, named Daisy
She almost drives me crazy
She knows how to love me
Yes indeed, boy you don't know
What she's doin' to me
Amber smiled as James lifted her off her feet, similar how Roland used to toss her up in the air when he sang this. "Just like old times, right?"
"That's right!" James grinned back.
At the same time, Makayla and Sofia had joined in the song, Tutti frutti au rutti
Tutti frutti au rutti
Tutti frutti au rutti
Tutti frutti au rutti
Tutti frutti au rutti
A-bop-bop-a-loom-op a-lop-bop-boom
"I forgot how much fun this song is!" Sofia smiled as she danced with Makayla. "My friends and I used to dance to this in the village before I became a princess!"
"This was always a fun song," April smiled. "Rachel would always have this, or one of her other songs, on when she helped me around the house!"
She joined Rachel in the song, Tutti frutti au rutti
Tutti frutti au rutti
Tutti frutti au rutti
Tutti frutti au rutti
Tutti frutti au rutti
A-bop-bop-a-loom-op a-lop-bop-boom
"It's like James says, music makes everything better!" Rachel smiled as she took Angelina for her own dance.
"Words to live by," Ruth smiled as she watched everyone having fun. She took Angelina and bounced her on her lap.
At the same time, Noah was spinning Makayla as he sang, I've got a gal named Daisy
She almost drives me crazy
James joined in as he spun Sofia and Amber, I've got a gal, named Daisy
She almost drives me crazy
They sang together, She knows how to love me
Yes indeed, boy you don't know
What she's doin' to me
Everyone joined the last chorus, Tutti frutti au rutti
Tutti frutti au rutti
Tutti frutti au rutti
Tutti frutti au rutti
Tutti frutti au rutti
A-bop-bop-a-loom-op a-lop-bop-boom
As if she was giving them applause, Angelina squealed as she watched everyone having fun
"That was fun, wasn't it, little angel?" Ruth smiled. "Rachel and Noah always had so much fun with that song!"
"James and I did too," Amber smiled.
"It's good to have these wonderful memories, isn't it?" Ruth smiled. "That way, we can share them with Angelina."
"That's right," Rachel smiled. "Noah and I have all sorts of pictures of Papa and things of his that we can share with Angie. That way we can tell her what he was like."
"That's a wonderful idea," Ruth smiled. She looked over at Angelina, who was beginning to nod off. "But for now, let's let her get some sleep. We can share some memories with her later."
"Sure," Sofia smiled. "We can take you to one of the guest rooms and she can take a nap there."
