"I'm so tired. I just want to rest." Laurence said on his walk home.

Life just seemed to be passing by. Things just seemed to happen without rhyme or reason. He had no idea why he continued on every day, but he did. Each day had it's own mundane challenges but they all felt the same. An overdraft every few years, some old loans for a degree for a field he didn't even currently work in, another one of the people or animals he loved dying, whatever. It all seemed to just blend together into this nice, fresh pit of despair and apathy that no one else seemed to be able to see, even though he felt as if there was a giant hole in himself.

He decided to take a small detour at the park. It wasn't exactly like he had anything to rush home to. The day was pleasant enough. Just a little on the cold side just the way he liked it. Cloudy but clearly it wasn't about to rain, it helped the ambiance. Seeing the people just walking around him, living their lives brought him a modicum of joy. At least some of them seemed happy, something he himself seemed unable to feel in any large quantity.

These few seconds of peace did nothing to help his constant feeling of tiredness however. Nothing seemed to helped. He leaned back and tilted his head over the backside of the bench and covered his face, letting out a breath of exasperation simultaneously. He didn't really care if he looked a little nutty, no one paid attention to him anyway. He felt something over him but just figured it was a pedestrian walking by.

"Ready or not here I come!" A feminine voice said happily.

Laurence opened his eyes and saw a beautiful woman, quite possibly the most beautiful he had ever seen. She looked like the definition of goth. Pale skin, leather pants, a tank top, combat boots, and all as black as possible. The eyeliner and lipstick also fit the motif. Despite her attractiveness he figured she had to be quite a bit on the weird side to strike up a conversation with a random nobody in the park.

"Excuse me?"

"The way you were covering your face I figured we were playing hide and seek."

He had to huff out a little laugh at that. At least she was funny. "If we were playing hide and seek wouldn't I be the one saying it since my eyes were covered?"

She smiled and slid over to the other side of the bench and had a seat. "Don't report me to the hide and seek authorities, I'd be in big trouble."

After a few seconds of awkward silence he decided to revert to an old faithful for small talk. "So what brings you around here? You're obviously not going for a jog, or even a long walk in those shoes."

"Just work. You know how it is."

"Yeah I feel you." Once again they had a pause in the conversation, but he realized It did not feel the same as last time. He was comfortable just being near her and he had no idea why. She looked at the other people with him, occasionally their eyes crossed and her bright smile seemed to part the clouds and make the sun shine once again. "You probably get this a lot, but you're probably the most beautiful woman I've ever seen."

The mysterious woman burst out laughing. He was clearly confused. "I think you're the first one to say that actually. Most people are intimidated or scared of me."

"Really!? You don't seem scary at all."

"I always tell them that but it's rare that they listen."

He figured she was playing into the whole mysterious cryptic thing and left it alone. It wasn't his business. It's not like he would see her again anyway. He's not that lucky. See was probably just talking to him because she was bored.

She looked at him and cocked her head. "You look tired."

"Yeah. I've been tired for a while. Not much I can really do about it. If you can see it I should probably head home and get some rest though. It was nice talking to you."

Before he could get up she said. "You know you can rest here."

This time he was the one that laughed. "Yea. I'll just lay my head in your lap. It'll be right after you kiss me." He said jokingly. She clearly had to be joking or she somehow mistook him for a homeless person. It would make sense since it seemed like she was doing her good deed for the day.

She shrugged and grabbed his collar to pull him in for a kiss. It was just lip to lip for a few seconds but it felt nice.

"I-uh. I don't really know what to say."

She let him go and gave her thigh a pat."You don't have to say anything. Just rest."

"You don't have to ask me twice." He laid his head down in her lap and once again felt at ease. He felt his eyelids getting heavy. "This moment is perfect."

She ran her fingers through his hair. "Just rest."

"And you'll be here when I wake up?"

"I'll always be by your side from now on."

He smirked as his eyes closed. "Usually that would have sounded creepy, but I'm surprisingly okay with it knowing it's you." He opened his eyes one more time to look at her beautiful face, then closed them to finally rest.

Author's Note: I...hope you all like it and that I didn't besmirch the name sandman. I did a bit of reading on her/saw a few videos and found her interesting. If you all hate it I understand. Had a thought about writing something like this when I wanted to put myself on ice and finally had the courage to post it.
