MasterClass60 asked about this classic Kelly Clarkson song, so enjoy your request! I thought it would be nice if, to go along with their story Adventures in Kalos: The Journey With Friends, Sofia meets their character Ember, and Elsa from Frozen, when she's having a crisis of confidence when she sees someone from her past. One might also think of this as an alternate universe setting, since the mystery person is Sofia's birth father, who was lost in a storm in Forever Royal. Thanks to MasterClass60 for helping with the story. Kelly Clarkson's music is not mine.

Sofia was excited to host her first festival in the village since becoming a princess. She knew her family would be there to help her if she had questions, but as she looked around, she felt that she had done a good job of organizing a festival that honored the town founder. She hoped he would be proud of her, and of everything that was going on.

She also couldn't help but think back to the time she hosted her first Royal Prep tea party. Amber had taken over, but in the end, it had all worked out, since she got to have the tea party she wanted, and everyone had loved it. (She couldn't help but laugh as she remembered how she and James had gotten back at Amber with the Sweetheart Pies the next day, but at least Amber had learned a valuable lesson about taking over things that weren't hers to take over, and Roland and Miranda had even admired the way the lesson had been delivered, as a prank.)

As she walked around the village, she admired the decorations. Since Amber promised to stay in the background this time around and offer advice, Sofia had let her assist her, but not take over. However, Amber had come up with some nice ideas for flower arrangements and the table settings.

She had just accepted a freshly made pretzel roll from a nearby vendor when she saw a family in the distance. As she looked closely, she thought that the man bore a very strong resemblance to her birth father.

She then took a closer look and then gasped in realization. That man was her birth father! She had not seen or heard from him since she was very little. A river of emotions went through her body: fear, anger, hurt, but mainly sadness. Sofia did not know how to react, but before she could, the man noticed her, and in fear, Sofia ran off before he could even say her name.

Sofia hid behind a tree, looking behind her to see if the man followed. Seeing no sign of him, she sighed a breath of relief before frowning in fear. Her father was never really nice to her when she was growing up, always being verbally abusive to her. After an accident made him become physical with her, Miranda had decided that enough was enough, and divorced him. Since then, Sofia never heard or saw him again until now.

Sofia paced back and forth, saying, "I can't believe it. He's here and he saw me! What if he tries to do something to me like before?! I can't face him. I don't have the courage to even his face without being scared or traumatized. Oh...what do I do?"

Suddenly, her amulet began to glow. Sofia looked at it momentarily before hearing a branch snap behind her. She turned and almost shouted in surprise at who she saw.

Instead of a princess, the amulet summoned...a creature, though this creature was unlike anything she'd ever seen before. She looked like a fox, but had yellow, white, and red fur, as well as red fur sticking out of her ears, which each had a blue ribbon tied nicely. She also had honey blonde hair that went to her shoulders and sapphire blue eyes. The creature also was wearing a jean jacket that had a music note and said Pop All Stars on the back. Her most noticeable feature was a silver music note on her left paw. She seemed to be a creature/human hybrid of some sort. Sofia frowned a little. Just what kind of creature was she? Was she under a curse or something?

The creature smiled at Sofia, saying, "Don't be afraid. My mother and I were summoned by your amulet. My name is Ember. My mother you may know," as the creature pointed behind her.

Sofia turned and saw that Princess Elsa, who now resided in Arendelle's Enchanted Forest as its Fifth Spirit, was standing right behind her. Sofia smiled, saying, "Elsa, what are you doing here?"

Elsa smiled. "Like Ember said, we were summoned by your amulet to help you. I can tell you have many questions about Ember. Allow me to explain. She is a creature known as a Pokémon, and her Pokémon name is Braixen. However, she gained this human form after discovering something about herself and her past. I named her Ember due to her fiery spirit. When she found out that she was born in the Enchanted Forest and had no biological family, I adopted her and have been acting as her mother figure since."

Ember smiled, saying, "It's all true. Now, what seems to be the problem Sofia?"

Sofia explained the situation to them, then asked, "Can you two help?"

Elsa responded, "I can help, but I think Ember can be the one to really tell you what you need."

The firefox nodded, saying, "Elsa is right. I know more about having a hard life growing up than anyone."

Sofia was surprised as she asked, "Really?"

Ember nodded in response, explaining, "I grew up under torture and pain from a group of bad people known as Team Flare. I had to endure a lot of hardships, and even after I escaped and found my true friends, I still would somehow get plagued in the past. However, one thing that a friend of mine taught me is to never give up till it's over. Face your fears head on. Plus, to use what I have from my experiences to help. My best friend Serena taught me that, and I have been able to face my past with confidence. If you follow my advice, you will too, Sofia."

Elsa added, "Learning about the past or remembering it can always be scary at first, but what helps is knowing that you've grown stronger since then. Use that strength to allow yourself to mentally grow and be able to face whatever comes your way."

Sofia smiled a little. She had done things like this already since she had become a princess. She had made the Flying Derby team despite people telling her that riding in the Flying Derby wasn't a 'princess thing'. She had helped save the fairies from their former apprentice when Miss Nettle had trapped them in a bubble and went after their spellbook. She couldn't even count the number of times she'd gone up against enemies who wanted to harm her family and friends. She even remembered Rapunzel's advice about risking it all, even though that was really aimed more toward Amber.

Sofia then asked, "But don't you ever feel scared about things like this? Don't you worry about what might happen?"

Ember nodded, saying, "Fear can play a major role in preventing you from facing something harsh in the past. But...what I learned is that fear...it's only an illusion. They can throw whatever they have at you, but as long as you remain focused and mentally strong, you can do absolutely anything. In other words, what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger."

Sofia couldn't help but laugh. "I think I feel a song coming on! Thank you, James' knowledge of music and talent with words!"

"Shall we, then?" Elsa chuckled.

"Yes we shall!" Ember smiled, Sofia nodding at her side.

Using her magic, Elsa created music and began to sing, You know the bed feels warmer
Sleeping here alone
You know I dream in color
And do the things I want

Sofia smiled and gave Ember a little twirl as she joined in, You think you got the best of me
Think you've had the last laugh
Bet you think that everything good is gone
Think you left me broken down
Think that I'd come running back
Baby you don't know me, cause you're dead wrong

As Elsa joined them on the chorus, she created snowflakes that swirled around them.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
What doesn't kill you makes a fighter
Footsteps even lighter
Doesn't mean I'm over cause you're gone

"If only Amber was here; she loves this song, and she'd agree with you about this," Sofia smiled.

Ember nodded as they sang, What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stronger
Just me, myself and I
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone

Elsa smiled as she joined them, You heard that I was starting over with someone new
They told you I was moving on over you

She made more snowflakes swirl around them as Ember sang, You didn't think that I'd come back
I'd come back swinging
You try to break me, but you see

Sofia joined her, What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
What doesn't kill you makes a fighter
Footsteps even lighter
Doesn't mean I'm over cause you're gone

"If I may say so, Elsa, this reminds me of this one trick Cedric used to do when I first came to the castle," Sofia added, "He waved his wand and made little sparkling lights dance around in the air, just like you're doing with the snowflakes! He used to do that when Amber and James were little too!"

"I heard about that," Elsa grinned. "As the Fifth Spirit, I know all about the different types of magic! The sparkle spell always had a wonderful calming effect on someone!"

Sofia smiled as she sang with her, What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stronger
Just me, myself and I
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone

"We'll have to visit Sofia and see those sparkles in action!" Ember smiled.

"Yes, they'd be beautiful together with my snowflakes," Elsa smiled back.

Her smile widened as she sang with Sofia, Thanks to you I got a new thing started
Thanks to you I'm not the broken-hearted
Thanks to you I'm finally thinking about me
You know in the end the day you left was just my beginning
In the end...

Sofia smiled as she took a solo, What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
What doesn't kill you makes a fighter
Footsteps even lighter
Doesn't mean I'm over cause you're gone

"And I have to say it, where was this song when I was trying out for Flying Derby, or rescuing the fairies, or facing enemies that wanted to hurt my friends and family?" she added, smiling as Ember danced with her.

"There will be plenty of opportunities for you to use this song, Sofia," Elsa smiled. "Music has the power to make everything better."

She continued the chorus, What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stronger
Just me, myself and I
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone

"Have you been listening to my brother James? He says that too!" Sofia smiled.

"He's right about that," Ember smiled as they finished the song together.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stronger
Just me, myself and I
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
When I'm alone

As the song ended, Sofia felt a lot better, and was feeling braver and much more confident. She smiled and said, "I get it now. I think I am able to go see my birth father now."

Ember nodded in approval, and Elsa encouraged her, "Go right ahead and see what happens." Suddenly, sparkles began to surround Elsa and Ember, signifying that it was time for them to go.

Before she disappeared, Ember shouted, "Sofia! When you can, stop by the Enchanted Forest and visit us sometime. You'll really like the place! By the way, Olaf says hi!"

"Goodbye, Elsa! Goodbye, Ember! And thank you! When you see Olaf, give him a warm hug for me!" Sofia called before Elsa and Ember disappeared in a flash of light.

Feeling braver and more confident, Sofia then headed back to the village where the festival was in full swing. She looked through the crowd of villagers until she found the man and his family again. After taking a shaky breath in and out, she went up to him slowly and said, "Hello...dad."

The man turned and saw Sofia looking at him. He was stunned, but recovered quickly enough to say, "Sofia...is that you?" Sofia nodded as the man smiled, saying, "To think, my little girl has grown up. Sofia, I know you might never forgive me, but I am truly sorry for the way I treated you before. I've changed for the better since you last saw me." He motioned to the people at his side. "Meet my new wife, Melany, and our kids. This is Jeffery, our eldest son, and Aria, our little girl. Melany, kids, this is Sofia, my daughter from my first marriage. As you can see, she's a brilliant and beautiful girl."

The kids went up to her and gave her friendly greetings as Sofia was surprised, but happy nonetheless.

Melany came up to Sofia, saying, "It is such an honor to meet you. I am glad that your father helped you come into this world and become the great person you are today."

Sofia couldn't help but tear up a bit in happiness as she looked back at her former father, the two sharing a small smile. Sofia then said, "You know? The concert is about to begin in the town square. Would you guys like to come with me and watch it?"

The kids asked their parents as the man said, "I don't see why not. Sure thing."

This made everyone excited as Sofia led the family through the village, happy that everything turned out alright in the end.
