Merry (belated) Christmas and Happy (belated) Wassalia, everyone! Even though James likes playing the piano at parties, he is always invited to do karaoke with his friends. And while Amber may disapprove of some of the songs he does, even she secretly likes them as well. She and Sofia also have their favorite things to do at the party, and it gets even more fun when everyone gets to join in the fun. Thanks to Sofia2017 planning for helping with the story. Florida Georgia Line's music is not mine.
The Wassalia party at the castle was going full swing. Everyone was having a great time, and James had decided to take a break from playing the piano.
He was coming back from one of the goodie tables when he saw some of his friends come over to him. "James, when you're done with that, you want to join us for some karaoke?" Zandar asked, motioning toward Desmond and Hugo.
"Sure, I've liked all the songs everyone's done so far, and I did promise Sof and Amber that I wouldn't hog the karaoke machine this time," James agreed.
"Don't listen to them, you can sing as much as you want," Zandar joked, "But if it makes them feel better, we'll keep an eye on you."
James smirked. "Thanks, guys."
James and his friends were going over to the karaoke machine when Amber stopped them. "James, you're going to let everyone have a turn at the karaoke machine, aren't you?"
"Relax, Amber, it's going to be a group song, and Zandar asked me to be part of the group," James smirked. "Besides, I don't want to be at the piano all night; I want to have some fun with everyone too!"
"And don't worry, Amber, if it makes you feel better, we'll keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't do too many songs," Hugo added.
"Amber, let's give him the benefit of the doubt," Sofia agreed. "James only did one or two songs, but that was just to test the karaoke machine before the party started. We both know he's going to let everyone use it."
"Thank you, Sof!" James grinned as he and his friends went over to the box of CDs.
Amber looked doubtful, but she saw the look that Sofia was giving her. It was the same one she used to give Roland when she was in trouble as a child. "Alright, Sofia, if you say so…And I'm beginning to regret teaching you that look!"
"Amber, my sweet, caring, loving, beautiful, understanding twin sister, don't you trust me?" James smiled innocently, also giving Amber her own 'I'm the cutest person in the world' look.
"Oh, James," Sofia giggled as Amber pouted playfully. "And Amber, let's go have some fun of our own! I see there's a photo booth over in the far corner; why don't we get Hildegard, Cleo, Lucinda, Vivian, Ruby, and Jade and have some pictures taken?"
"Well, okay," Amber gave a more genuine smile. "I know that Cleo, Hildy, and I have been known to hog the photo booths at carnivals and school events, just like James has been known to hog the karaoke machine!"
"Oh, Amber," Sofia giggled again. "You don't hog anything, but you both know what you like!"
Amber gave her a playful eye roll and joked, "You know me so well, Sofia!"
"That's right," Sofia smirked. "Now, let's have fun with the photo booth, and let James and the guys have fun with the karaoke!"
"Sounds like a plan to me!" James said as his friends nodded in agreement.
When James and his friends were at the karaoke machine, Zandar asked, "So, what song should we do?"
"I've got an idea," Desmond spoke up, "I was doing some shopping with my family recently, and I got this song in my head on the way home."
James grinned when he saw the CD Desmond was holding. "That's a brilliant song, Des! And I can't wait to see Amber's face when we start singing!"
When the song started, James grinned as he took the first verse, Them jingle bells are ringing
Whole family's back in town
Mama's holding down the kitchen
Daddy won't stop bragging 'bout
How we cut us down a big one
Perfect size, ten foot high
And we drug it through the front door
And wrapped it up with lights
Amber actually smiled as she recognized the song. "That's the song we heard coming back home from shopping with Mom!"
"And you thought it wasn't a proper song," Sofia giggled. "I saw you smile as you listened to it the first time! And James was just having fun with the knights when he was singing that with them, and they were as happy as the rest of us were when he said that he'd be singing in public and around the castle again!"
Meanwhile, all the princes sang together, That Christmas tree ain't the only thing getting lit this year
There's Old Camp in the eggnog and that fridge is full of cheers
Got some good ol' Christmas spirit in this cup right here
That Christmas tree ain't the only thing getting lit this year
"Everyone's entitled to a little holiday humor, aren't they?" Roland added as he came over and heard the music.
"Daddy, did you overhear us?" Amber asked.
"I just came to see how you're doing," Roland smiled. "I just happened to catch the last part of your conversation."
"We were just taking some photos in the photo booth," Sofia smiled.
"So I see," Roland smiled as he looked over some of the pictures. "You and your friends always did enjoy the photo booth. In fact, just like I have trouble getting James away from the karaoke machine, I can't get you and Amber away from the photo booths!"
"Sofia's right, Daddy, we all have things we like at parties," Amber smiled as she replaced her parasol and sunglasses with a feather boa.
"That's right," Roland smiled. "I'll let you go back to your fashion show and catch up with you later."
At the same time, Zandar was singing, Pawpaw's in the pantry sneaking something from a flask
Yeah, nanny's nodding off again, and we can't help but laugh
Hugo joined in, 'Cause cousin Eddie's in from Denver, brought some homegrown mistletoe
And if that's any indication how this holidays'll go
All the princes joined in again, That Christmas tree ain't the only thing getting lit this year
There's Old Camp in the eggnog and that fridge is full of cheers
Got some good ol' Christmas spirit in this cup right here
That Christmas tree ain't the only thing getting lit this year
As the girls came over, James shouted, Yeah, baby
As the girls spun around in their outfits, James motioned for his friends to go over and surprise them. He tapped Sofia on the shoulder and asked, "You want to dance with us?"
"Okay!" Sofia smiled.
"Combining what we're doing in a big song and dance, complete with costumes?" Amber smiled. "I love it!"
"Sounds like fun," Cleo smiled.
"And it's about to get even more fun," Amber smirked, motioning toward the box of costumes.
"I like the way you think, Amber," Hildegard smiled as she took a pair of sunglasses.
"And let's just be lucky that James is a good sport about this," Sofia smirked, remembering how, during a spring music contest, Amber had put a large hat and sunglasses on James before he started his song. Fortunately, he had been a good sport about it, and his new look had even gotten him extra points with the judges, making him the winner.
As they were dancing, the girls put the feather boas, sunglasses, and accessories on their partners.
"Yes, Amber, I remember this," James grinned as he let her put a big hat and sunglasses on him.
He spun her as he sang to her, I ain't ever had a drink with Santa but if he shows up here tonight
Yeah, it'd better be his last stop, 'cause he won't be good to drive
"You guys have never looked cuter!" Cleo giggled as she and Hildegard put hats and feather boas on James and Desmond, and Sofia put a big hat and sunglasses on Hugo and Zandar.
"Just like that one singing contest I was in," James smirked, recalling how Amber had put that impromptu costume on him. He also remembered how she used to do that when he sang songs by that same artist and how much fun they had with her dress-up clothes and costumes.
By now, everyone was singing together, That Christmas tree ain't the only thing getting lit this year
There's Old Camp in the eggnog and that fridge is full of cheers
Got some good ol' Christmas spirit in this cup right here
That Christmas tree ain't the only thing getting lit this year
That Christmas tree ain't the only thing getting lit this year, woo
"Why, Hildegard, I thought you didn't like this song," Zandar smirked.
"I enjoy a novelty song like any other person," Hildegard smirked.
"But really, Zandar, everyone's entitled to their own style of music," Desmond agreed.
Zandar nodded in agreement, Aw, yeah
Desmond tipped his hat to Sofia and Amber. Feels good, baby
Hugo also grinned. Gotta love Christmas
As everyone applauded, Sofia asked, "James, do you and the others want to take some pictures with us?"
"Okay," James nodded as he looked around at his friends, who were nodding and grinning at each other in their dress-up outfits. "We can give anyone else a chance to use the karaoke machine too."
"But we all know we can sing as much as we want, and it's all for fun," Desmond agreed.
"That's right, Desmond," Sofia smiled as she and Amber led the way to the photo booth. "Now, let's go have some more fun!"
