On January 22, the world of sports lost a great legend. Hank Aaron passed away at age 86. (And I know he played right field, but I'm not that good at sports; this is one of a few baseball related songs I know!)

Following the events of A Tale of Two Teams, I thought it would be fun if the Royal Redhawks and the Dunwiddie Ducks got together for a friendly game of Dazzleball. The Ducks get a surprise when Sofia plays for the Redhawks this time, but they're reminded that Sofia's always going to be loyal to them. They still have a fun time together, and it gets even more fun when James leads both teams in a song as the game progresses. Thanks to Sofia2017 planning for helping with the story. John Fogerty's music is not mine, and on a more serious note, rest in peace, Hank Aaron.

The royal family was going back to the castle, and they were all happy. The King's Cup Dazzleball game had ended, and the village team, the Dunwiddie Ducks, had won. However, even though she was a royal now, Sofia had chosen to play for that team.

Miranda leaned over and squeezed Sofia's hand. "You and your friends played a wonderful game, Sofia; I'm so proud of you!" She reached out to Amber and James next. "You did a wonderful job too."

"Thanks, Mom," James smiled. "Sof, how would you like to play for the Royal Redhawks next time?"

"I'll have to take it up with my friends, but that sounds like fun," Sofia smiled.

"It sure does, Sofia," Amber agreed. "In fact," she continued, "I saved a headband for you."

"Thanks, Amber," Sofia smiled. "They really did look cute when you first had them on."

"Too bad they didn't work out," James added. "Like I said, Amber, during the games, be the coach; not the fashion consultant."

Amber frowned a little. "James, please…"

"But at least you helped us when we needed it," James continued, "And maybe next time you could give those to our fans to help them support the team."

"I think that's a wonderful idea," Miranda agreed.

"Yes, but for your mother and I, we'd need something for both teams, since we support all of you," Roland added.

"Oh, yes, and I think we'd be the only ones wearing both Redhawks and Ducks colors," Miranda smiled.

Sofia giggled as she pictured them wearing both teams' colors as she said, "You know, Amber, James, I think I have an idea."

"What's your idea, Sof?" James asked.

"Well, I thought we could invite both teams to the castle for a celebration," Sofia suggested. "All of us have always been friends, and I'd like to see us all have fun together and maybe play a game of Dazzleball just for fun."

"I think they'd love that idea," Miranda smiled.

Roland nodded in agreement. "I don't see why not."

A few days later, the Dunwiddie Ducks and the Royal Redhawks were at the castle. Amber had designed new jerseys with both mascots on them, and in both team's colors.

"This is really cute, Amber!" Jade smiled. "You're a really good fashion designer!"

"And your glasses are the perfect accessory," Amber smiled.

"I did what I said and had my mom take me to the doctor, and I got my own pair," Jade agreed.

"Great idea, Jade," Sofia smiled.

"Yeah! And maybe you and your new glasses would like to play a friendly game of Dazzleball right now?" James asked.

"We'd love to," Jade giggled.

Ruby grinned as she picked up a dazzleball. "Let's get started!"

"But whose team are you going to play on for this game, Sofia?" Lucinda asked.

"If it's okay with you guys, I'd like to play on the Redhawks team this time," Sofia replied. She saw Jade look like she was going to say something, and said, "It's only fair, Jade. Like I said before, I may be royal now, but I'll always be from the village, and you and I will always be friends."

"That's okay, Sofia," Ruby agreed. "You really did a great job when you were on the Redhawks team."

"It's true," Jade admitted. "And we'll still be friends no matter what."

Sofia smiled. "That's great Jade; I knew you would understand!"

"This is all for fun anyway," Ruby agreed.

As the game got underway, Zandar noticed that James was humming something as he caught the Frisbee, then threw it to him. "Good idea, James!" he called.

"I know the Dazzleball doesn't turn into a baseball, but this is still a fun song," James agreed.

"And at least everyone here knows it," Sofia agreed.

"So, what are we waiting for?" Lucinda smiled as she waved her wand.

"Thanks, Lucinda! And this is the only time magic's allowed by the players!" Amber called as Baileywick, who was acting as referee again, nodded in agreement.

As she caught the football, Sofia called, "Thanks, Baileywick!"

When Sofia threw the ball to him, James started singing as it turned into a Frisbee. Well, a-beat the drum and hold the phone
The sun came out today
We're born again, there's new grass on the field
A-roundin' third and headed for home
It's a brown-eyed handsome man
Anyone can understand the way I feel

"That's a good song for the game," Jun agreed.

"That's my brother, the team jukebox," Amber smiled as she showed the team a plan she'd come up with.

"Yes, we noticed," Maya smiled. "You said that James is your team jukebox! And I remember what Sofia said he did at the Flying Crown race too!"

"Oh, yes, he did find a way to help Sofia and Hugo that day," Amber smiled. "And I know he'll find a way for this game to be even more fun!"

"Music does make everything better!" James grinned as he intercepted the ball from Lucinda and threw it to Jun.

The Royal Redhawks all sang together, Oh, put me in coach, I'm ready to play today
Put me in coach, I'm ready to play today
Look at me, I can be centerfield

"Yes it does!" Jun agreed as she kicked the soccer ball to Sofia.

"And at least I can play better now," Jade agreed as she threw the Frisbee to Ruby.

"You're doing a great job, Jade," Ruby said as she scored another point.

"Thank you!" Jade smiled.

As she ran up the field with the football, she sang, Well, I spent some time in the Mudville Nine
Watching it from the bench
You know I took some lumps, when the mighty Case struck out

She threw the ball to Ruby, who joined in, So say hey, Willie, Tyler Cobb
And Joe DiMaggio
Don't say it ain't so, you know the time is now

"This is all for fun anyway," Maya agreed as she intercepted the ball.

Her smile widened as she heard the Dunwiddie Ducks sing as they ran up the field, Oh, put me in coach, I'm ready to play today
Put me in coach, I'm ready to play today
Look at me, I can be centerfield

James blocked a kick as he joined in, Yeah, I got it, I got it

Jun smiled. "You know it!"

As she caught the ball, Meg joined in, Got a beat-up glove, a home-made bat
And a brand new pair of shoes
You know I think it's time to give this game a ride

"I don't think I've ever seen either team have so much fun as they were playing Dazzleball," Roland smiled as he watched them.

Zandar intercepted the Frisbee again as he sang, Just to hit the ball, and touch 'em all
A moment in the sun
It's a-gone and you can tell that one good-bye

"It's fun hearing them sing as they play, isn't it?" Miranda smiled as the Redhawks scored another goal.

"Oh, yes," Roland smiled. "This was a good idea James had, to play this song for the game."

"It certainly was," Miranda agreed.

Even they had joined in the chorus at this point, Oh, put me in coach, I'm ready to play today
Put me in coach, I'm ready to play today
Look at me (yeah), I can be centerfield

As the last goal of the match was scored, everyone was finishing the song together, Oh, put me in coach, I'm ready to play today
Put me in coach, I'm ready to play today
Look at me, gotta be, centerfield
Yeah

Soon, the game ended, and the Royal Redhawks won. Everyone was congratulating each other, and Sofia was even inviting Ruby and Jade to have a sleepover at the castle that night.

"That sounds like fun," Jade agreed.

"Great idea, Sofia!" Ruby smiled.

"It's okay with us too," Miranda agreed as Roland nodded at her side.

"And Ruby, Jade, just so you know, even though I played for the Redhawks this time, I'll always be loyal to the Ducks," Sofia said as she, Ruby, and Jade hugged.

Jade smiled. "I know that now. Thanks, Sofia."

"We're all on the same team anyway," Sofia continued as she accepted a hug from James.

"We are?" Amber asked as she came over.

"That's right," Sofia smiled. "The team of Good Friends!"

"I like the sound of that!" James grinned.

"And no matter what team we're on, we're still friends, right?" Ruby agreed.

Sofia smiled. "That's right!"

Well, it looks like I'm sliding into home plate for this edition of Do You Want to Sing Together! But tomorrow I'll be ready for another group of songs! I'm still taking requests and writing them down, so keep an eye out for the next installment!
