Happy Monday Guy! I know I said I wanted to post this over the weekend. I'm so sorry, time just got away from me. But I am back with new chapter and hope you guys are excited to see what Edward will do to protect Isabella and Issac.

Lets find out...

Chapter 5

After I left Isaac and Isabella in her room I went looking for Leah. I wasn't sure exactly what my plan was to help Isabella, but I did know that, as her doctor, Leah needed to know about it.

I made my way over to the nurses station and had one of them call for Leah. She made it over to the station about five minutes, giving me a questionable look when she saw the panic and fear in my eyes.

"What's up Ed?"

"First of all, stop calling me 'Ed'. You know I hate that," I told her. "Secondly, I need your help with Isabella."

"Has something happened? No one alerted me," She said, in a sudden panic herself as she looked over her iPad.

"No, she's fine and I left Isaac with her so they can reconnect. But, Isabella is still in danger."

"How's that?"

"Isabella's husband cannot be allowed to her," I told Leah. "James Hunter can't step foot inside her room."

"And why is that?" She asked again.

I then went on to give Leah the cliff notes version of Isabella's life. The abusive husband, the threats, the beatings and how Isaac could be in danger as well if James got his hands on him.

"Well, that explains the physical trauma," Leah said after hearing the story.

"What do you mean?" I asked Leah. She then brought my attention to her iPad that showed an outline of the female body along with some notes attached to each portion. I assumed this was Isabella full work up.

"We ran a few scans of Mrs. Hunter, along with my own visual examination. I found several healed abrasions and scar tissue. I was going to ask her about it when she woke up, but I guess you beat me to it," She explained.

"I was sitting with Isaac when she happened to wake up. When I told her her husband was coming to collect them, she almost became hysteric," Giving Leah a play-by-play.

"Alright, well from what you've told me, it seems the best I can do is to put Mr. Hunter on Isabella's 'Unwanted visitors' List. Which means we can keep him from seeing her."

"That's not gonna be enough," I said, a little too emphatically. "From what Isabella has told me about her so-called husband, he's not the type of person who takes no for an answer and just walks away. We've told him they are here and he will try anything to get to them. Not to mention that policy only protects them in the hospital; What happens once they leave? We will be powerless to stop him from going after them."

After my little rant, Leah could see how adamant I was about protecting this woman and her son. She folded her files and iPad over her chest and gave a long sigh before responding.

"Well, what do you propose we do?" She asked calmly.

I was afraid she was going to ask me that. What I was about to suggest was completely risky and highly unethical, but it seemed to be the only solution to keep James away.

"Okay. I need you to keep an open-mind to what I'm about to say," I expressed to her. She nodded, giving me go-ahead to continue. "I need you to go back over Isabella's file and delete them. Erase any evidence of her ever being here."

Leah stood there for a long while, not showing any physical or verbal response to my plan.

"Please tell me your kidding," She finally said.

"I'm not."

Leah then rolled her eyes and let out a forceful groan. She then spun around, mid-groan, and faced me again with hands in her face.

"Edward, do you understand what you're asking me to do?"

"I do," I answered back.

"Do you?" She emphasized. "Because, it sounds like you want me to lie and falsify documents."

"Not lie," I clarified. "Just not tell the whole truth. She will still be your patient and you will be treating her for her injuries. You just won't be treating her under the name "Isabella Hunter".

"What would her name be?" Leah asked.

"Just go with 'Jane Doe'. It'll be next to impossible for James to track her that way." Seeing as how Jane Doe was the global name for non-identified patients.

"What about her son?"

"I'll get Laurent to change his file name to 'baby boy doe'," I told her.

"And what if James calls the police station to verify the accident?"

"I'll call Sam and have him intercept the call, saying there was a mistake and his wife was not actually in the accident." I explained.

"Wow!" Leah exclaimed. "So now, you're not only jeopardizing my job and Laurent's. You also want to rope my husband in and risk his job as well? You got a set of balls on you Cullen," Leah almost snarled.

I knew telling Leah about bringing Sam into this would hit a sore spot with her. Sam was a highly regarded officer whose job meant everything to him. Well, next to Leah and she knew that. I felt completely guilty and knew I was asking a lot from the both of them, but it seemed the most efficient way of protecting Isabella.

"I know how much I'm asking from you and Sam," I told her. "And I understand the risks you'd both be taking. But, you have to know I wouldn't be doing any of this, unless it was a matter of life and death."

"And you think Isabella's husband could actually kill her?" Leah asked.

"I wouldn't put it past him. And God only knows what he might do to that little boy" I told her.

Leah just stood there for another few minutes, contemplating what I said. I could see the debate that was raging with herself.

"Leah," I called for her attention. "You took an oath to do no harm. I took an oath to make decisions based on the best interest of the patient. And Sam took an oath to serve and protect. If we don't do anything, if we just turn a blind eye to Isabella and her son and something happens to them; How can we stand by those oaths?"

I could see my words had an effect on her because a few minutes later she gave me her answer.

"Okay Edward," She said. "I'll do it, but not for you. I'm doing it to help that fragile woman and that innocent baby in there," Pointing towards Isabella's room.

"Thank you, Leah," I breathed out in relief.

"But if this comes back to bite me in the ass, I will not hesitate to give up your name," She stipulated.

"I understand."

"I'll go delete Isabella's file. But Laurent's' going to need to delete Isaac's since he was technically his patient," Leah informed me.

"I know, I'm heading down to catch him before he leaves. I also need you to have the front desk page you when Isabella's husband gets here and then call me right after. Just to make sure, he's off the property."

"Okay, will do," Leah confirms as she turns to make her way down the hall.

"Leah," I called to her and she turned around to face me.

"Thank you again. I really appreciate it."

"Just don't make me regret it," She warned as we took our leave to accomplish our tasks.

I was able to find a Laurent before he left for the day. It took a lot of convincing, but Laurent finally agreed to help me hide Isaac from James and delete his file. Afterwards, I made a call to Sam and asked him to cover for us. I knew Sam had the most to lose in this, but I'd hope he understood what was a stake if we didn't.

Sam told me that he wouldn't lie for me, but that he would do his best to keep James from finding out about Isabella and Isaac. And after threatening me several times with bodily harm if I were to put his wife or her job at risk we concluded our call.

James would arrive shortly and I knew I was going to need more help if James were to try to get physical. So I shot a quick text to Jasper and Emmett, telling them to meet me outside Isabella.

While I waited for them to arrive, I quickly checked in on her and Isaac. I was able to catch them in the middle of dinner. Isabella was spoon feeding some of her mashed potatoes to the two-year old while he watched some toddler show about a family of pigs. I checked to see if everything was alright and Isabella confirmed they were both doing okay.

"Is James here?" She asked in a whisper.

"No, not yet. But don't worry, he will not be coming anywhere near either of you. I'm making sure of it," I told her. With a smile, I made my exit back into the hallway.

Jasper and Emmett were coming out of the elevator as I closed the door to Isabella's room.

"What's going on man?" Emmett asked.

"You know Aro is pissed as hell at you for blowing off work," Jasper informed me.

Yeah I knew that was coming. I'll have some major apologizing to do when I got back to work, but I'll deal with that later .

"I know. I'll worry about him later. Right now, I need you both to help me with Isabella." I said.

"Whose Isabella?" Jasper asked me.

"That girl from the accident this morning," I told him. "She's in trouble and I need you guys to help me keep her husband away,"

I then went through the same story I told Leah. But, unlike Leah, Jasper and Emmett didn't need me to convince them to help. Once they heard about a beaten woman and a little baby, they were willing to help.

"What do we need to do?" Emmett asked.

"I just need you guys to hold back. Leah is going to explain that Isabella and Isaac Hunter are not here. But, I have a feeling he won't just walk out the door. If he tries to get through and he becomes physical, I'll need your help to escort him off the property."

"Don't we have security for that?" Jasper asked.

"They'll be there too," I told them. "But I want as much muscle there as possible because I don't know how much of a fight James will put up. We just need to be sure, James gets back in his car and leaves the parking lot."

Jasper and Emmett both agreed to the plan and not long after they consented, my phone began to vibrate in my pocket. I read the caller I.D and immediately answered.

"Hello," I answered.

"Edward it's Leah," She announced. "A James Hunter just arrived at the front desk and demanded to know where his wife and son are."

"On my way," I told her before hanging up.
