Sitting upon the shore of the lake of Avalon was Merlin. The greatest wizard the world has come to know and former servant to King Arthur. Merlin had stayed on the shores of Avalon since Arthur's "death" for he had no purpose without the young Pendragon. He stayed there waiting for his friend to return to the land of the living. He waited and waited and waited. But there was no sign of his friend, so one day Merlin decided that all hope was lost and left the lake of Avalon. He rented an apartment in the city and prepared to live out his useless life. Merlin shortly went to bed and fell into a dreamless sleep. Merlin awoke the next morning to banging on his door. He jumped up then the unthinkable happened. "MERLINNN!!!" the wizard could not believe his ears! That couldn't be- couldn't possibly- be the King of Camelot. Despite Merlin's disbelief the banging and yelling persisted "MERLIN!" Merlin shook himself and ran to open the door and sure enough Arthur was standing there, in the flesh, as real as you and me. Arthur and Merlin both looked each other from head to toe. Arthur had a very confused expression on his face "Merlin what the hell is going on? Where is Camelot!? And Guinevere!!?" Merlin just stood there gaping. Arthur snapped his fingers in his servant's face "Merlin!" He snapped to attention "Ah...ah Arthur many things have changed..." The King raised a brow and allowed Merlin to guide him to a chair. Merlin sat down as well and sighed, "Now um..this might come as a shock but you've been gone for more than 100 years sire." Arthur was absolutely dumbfounded "WHAT!!!" Merlin hastened to calm him down "Arthur, Arthur! Let me explain." The last Pendragon settled down and listened. "Gwen, Leon, Percival, and Gwaine are all gone. After you "died" Gwen took over the kingdom and everything was at peace. I told everyone of my magic and Gwen died a peaceful death, warm in her bed." Arthur couldn't believe what he was hearing, after Merlin explained everything he had a hard time processing what had happened. There were things called- cars now and some strange sorcery known as a TV. Merlin didn't look much different at all maybe a few wrinkles but nothing major his clothes on the other hand...his servant was no longer wearing his scarf and tunic. What has the world came to??Merlin decided to show Arthur the city but first he had to get him dressed in something different. The King was still wearing his armor and tunic. Merlin pulled out a hoodie and jeans for his King to wear. Arthur stared at the odd looking clothing in wonder. "Why are there pockets?" he asked, curiously sticking his hands in them. "They're to warm your hands." Merlin explained, while dressing Arthur. The King didn't know What to think about these strange pants! They were extremely inappropriate but for some reasons everyone wore them nowadays. What shocked Arthur the most were those tall towers which had- people on them??? How the blazes did they get stuck up there!? And where are everyone's swords??? "Merlin." his friend looked at him "Yes sire?", "Where are everyone's weapons? Bandits could come!!" Merlin sighed, "There are no more use for swords or bows they are now used for enjoyment and fun. For weapons everyone uses guns now." Shocked was an understatement for Arthur. Swords and bows used for FUN!!??? Also what in the bloody hell are guns??? "What is wrong with people Merlin?? What are guns?" Merlin shifted between crowds, guiding Arthur along "I don't know Arthur people are much different now. Guns are these small or big machines that shoot these things called bullets that kill you." Arthur nodded "Huh, how strange." Merlin chuckled, "Oh Arthur, that's not even the weirdest thing!" Arthur's eyes widened "Really?" Merlin grinned "Ah yes, here let me take you into this store.'' Arthur followed Merlin in and nearly gaped, strange clothes were hanging on racks and there was this odd noise..."Merlin what's that noise?" His servant looked up from the clothes he was looking at, "Oh that's this thing called music. Singers somehow record sound and people buy it and play it." Arthur nodded. Merlin found a perfect shirt for Arthur "Now sire-" he looked around in confusion. Arthur was gone.
