Phillip wonders sometimes why he went on this adventure sometimes.
Upon exiting Mount Moon, he found a safe place to sleep as it was night when he finished that tour. Once the sun was up again, Phillip walked down Route 4 to find two idiots arguing about kicks and punches. Phillip didn't get involved and kept walking past the two.
The route had many ledges Phillip had to jump down to continued. Luckily, he didn't have to do too much to follow the path.
After three ledge-jumps in a row, Phillip found himself at the entrance to a new city, Cerulean City. He walked past the two fences on each side of him to see a large city surrounded with either faces or a river. Phillip looked past a couple buildings to see a bridge going farther north.
He took a stop at the Pokemon Center to heal his team fully. Once finished, Phillip picked up a map of the city and looked around for the Gym. He saw that it was found in northwestern part of the city. However, Phillip found himself more attracted to see what bridge held. So he simply headed north to it to see what was going on.
Upon arriving to the selected place, Phillip was met with a terrible fate.
Gary Oak was walking down the bridge towards him with a grin. " Well, look who it is: that Nobody from Pallet Town." That cheerleader squad from before walked behind the boy as they cheered for their selected champion.
Phillip tried walking past them. " I don't have time for you."
However, Gary wasn't keen on doing so. " Oh, I don't think so. You made me look bad at Pallet Town. I want to return the favor." Gary pulled a Poke Ball from his belt, made it into its larger size, and held it out at Phillip.
Phillip walked past the group. " I have no want in this foolishness you carry with you."
Phillip's foot touched the first step before he was forced to duck under a mighty torrent that came from behind him. He turned to see Gary kept with his threat and summoned his Squirtle from its Poke Ball. Seeing no other choice except running, which he had too much pride to do so, Phillip puled out his own Poke Ball and summoned Pidgeotto to the scene.
Gary smirked. " I knew you'd reconsider! Squirtle, Water Gun!" Another powerful water blast escaped its mouth, aimed directly at Pidgeotto.
" Pidgeotto, dodge and circle around to Squirtle's back." Pidgeotto flew up to avoid the water and used the winds to go over and behind Squirtle.
" Squirtle, go into your shell!" Squirtle followed its command and retracted its legs, arms, and head into its shell.
" Pidgeotto, Gust!" Pidgeotto stopped in mid-flight to flap its wings furiously. Each flap sent powerful winds crashing into its opponent. The impact sent the Squirtle flying into the river that flowed under the gold bridge. It survived the fall and quickly surfaced. Pidgeotto flew overhead to deliver the next blow.
However, Gary made the first call. " Squirtle, duck under the water and use Water Gun!" Squirtle followed the commands, quickly diving down and used its powers to bring about a torrent far stronger than before.
" Pidgeotto, get out of there now!" Pidgeotto spun a bit before going into a dive. However, the water was much faster than it, hitting it slightly on the wings and sending the bird spiraling out of control. It crashed into the ground and couldn't get up fully to continue the fight.
Squirtle had no problems continuing, though, and jumped out of the water to continue the attack with a Tackle.
Phillip made the next command. " Pidgeotto, summon your Sand Attack!" Pidgeotto used its good wing to bring about a small whirlwind of sand, blinding those around it.
" Use Quick Attack, Pidgeotto!" For a second, nothing happened. After a minute of this tense feeling, A large hole separated the Sand to show Pidgeotto's wing ramming into Squirtle's underbelly. Said Pokemon was then hurled from the wing and landed in front of Gary.
Gary growled. " Weakling!" He pulled out another Poke Ball and threw it into the air. " Come on out, Pidgeotto!" In a flash of light, another Pidgeotto appeared, flying high above the other one. Phillip called back his and pulled out Pikachu.
" Pidgeotto, use Sand Attack!" This Pidgeotto did the same thing Phillip's did for Gust, flapping both wings to summon brutal currents, only these were aimed at the ground instead of the Pikachu.
" Pikachu, use Quick Attack to race through the smoke!" Pikachu shot off like a bullet through the Sand Attack.
" Pidgeotto, use Quick Attack yourself!" Pidgeotto swooped down to enter the smoke at maximum velocity. Once more, a tense moment settled between the trainers. Minutes of silence continued for what seemed to be hours before something happened again.
Two pillars of smoke bellowed from the top. On the left was Pikachu, focusing solely on the other pillar, which was Pidgeotto. While in the air, the two were weaving between each others attacks. Pikachu, being more nimble than the other, would leap over or duck under flying Tackles using the birds own limbs as platforms before sending a Thunder Shock at it. Pidgeotto, who commanded flying with a passion, would rise and fall with the currents to evade the electrical barrage before swinging around to make another pass.
Unfortunately, time was of essence to Gary, seen as he called to his Pokemon, " Quick Attack!" Pidgeotto followed through, rushing forward as fast as it could to deal the needed damage to Pikachu.
That was his first mistake.
" Pikachu, go over the attack and latch on!" Pikachu's foot landed a step on the Pidgeotto's head, allowing it to evade the attack. Once the Pidgeotto's back tail feathers were close enough to Pikachu, it grabbed them, causing Pidgeotto to stop mid-flight to squawk a painful call.
Phillip smiled. " Now, Thunder Shock!" Pikachu released the high voltage attack on it's target, which quite close to the release zone. In one second, the sky flash a brilliant yellow. The next, Pidgeotto was now pitch black with ash and was falling at a quick rate. The two recalled their respected Pokemon back to their ball.
Gary replaced the one in his hand with another to send out. " Go, Rattata!" Phillip watched the rat appear on to the battlefield, bearing its fangs at it's opponent.
" Go, Charmeleon." Charmeleon came out with a loud roar in triumph.
" Hyper Fang, Rattata!"
" Smokescreen, go!"
Rattata lunged forward with its mouth open wide to take a chunk out of Charmeleon, but Charmeleon was faster. Charmeleon opened its own mouth to release the black cloud of smoke that now covered Rattata, causing it to land prematurely.
Phillip pointed at the smoke. " You know what to do." Charmeleon nodded and fired its Ember attack into the cloud, producing an explosion from the combined elements.
Rattata staggered out of the newest smoke plume and reared back its head for a cry before fainting directly. Gary called its back.
" Now," Phillip said as he returned Charmeleon. " I believe this one is wrapped up." With this, he walked on.
" Hold on!" Phillip turned back to Gary, who was holding his last Poke Ball. " I'm not done just yet. Go, Abra!"
A flash of light enveloped the place and a Pokemon with yellow skin and kite-shaped face appeared. It had a small, pale yellow snout and two short, pointed ears with pale yellow insides and had its eyes closed. Its upper body looked like plated brown armor, with the shoulder-blades looking like it was segmented with black skin seen in the joints. Similar with its lower body, the joints showed off the back skin that attached the yellow legs. Yellow arms sprouted from the brown upper body and the yellow tail with a brown band at the end was seen just behind the legs.
Pidgeotto came out and at the call, " Gust." flapped its working wing to cause the Abra to fly away into a tree, knocking it out.
Gary collected his Pokemon quickly and rushed for the Pokemon Center while Phillip healed his Pokemon on the spot before continuing.
However, the bridge was filled with trainers. These ones said something along the lines of a special price. It didn't matter much to him. He just wanted to search the route in front of him, so he defeated the 5 trainers blocking the rest of the bridge.
At the end, there was a man who said, " Congratulations!" to Phillip. "You beat out five contest Trainers! You just earned this fabulous prize!" From his pocket, the man pulled out a large nugget of gold and handed it over to Phillip. Phillip stared at the piece now in his hand for a moment before placing it into his pocket.
The man then suddenly continued. " By the way, how would you like to join Team Rocket?" Phillip's fist was faster than his mouth, punching the man into a rock formation past the hedge behind him. Once seeing his work, which was the man now halfway through the rock, Phillip continued down the paths.
Upon seeing that the road forked again, one to a dead end and another to his right and farther still, Phillip traveled down the right path. There, he fought some more trainers, one with rock-types and the rest with a grass-normal mix. None stood a chance against Phillip's higher leveled Pokemon.
At the end of the path, Phillip found a small house standing to the side. He walked up to the door and knocked, causing it to creak opened slightly. He pushed the door farther opened out of curiosity and found the house void of humans. The only things there were a number of books, packages, and a large machine in the back. The only living thing in was a Clefairy in the middle.
Out of all things, Phillip wasn't expecting the Clefairy from turning to him and shouting, " Hiya! I'm a Pokemon!... No, I'm not!"
Phillip's eyes grew slightly and wold have pulled out a Poke Ball had the Clefairy continued talking. " Call me Bill! I'm a true-blue PokeManiac!"
Phillip reset his eyes from widened to having eyebrow rise. " A what now?"
" A PokeManiac! It's the type of people that like to collect extremely rare Pokemon! Anyway, I need your help. I messed up an experiment and was combined with a Pokemon. Can you help me out here?"
Phillip sighed. " Fine. What do you need help with?"
Bill pointed past Phillip, where a computer rested on a desk. " Wait till I get in the Teleporter. When I do, go to my PC and run the Cell Separation System." With that done, Bill launched to the machine at back of the room and entered one side through a sliding door.
Phillip walked over to the computer and noticed the system mentioned before was already set up. With a final key stroke, the machine whirled to life and started the process. In a couple minutes, the machine stopped and a brunette man in a blue shirt and brown pants popped out of the side Bill didn't go in.
The man grinned to Phillip. " Thanks, bub. I owe you one." He stretched his arms and settled down before continuing. " So, did you come to see my Pokemon Collection?"
" No," was Phillip's answer.
Bill slumped over. " That's a bummer." He straightened and began scratching his head a bit as he looked around. " I've got to thank you. Oh, here, maybe this will do!" Bill reached into his pocket and pulled out a ticket to hand over to Phillip. The words "S. " were written on it.
Bill explained. " That cruise ship, S. , is in Vermilion City. Its passengers are all trainers! They invited me to their party, but I can't stand fancy do's." Phillip nodded and placed the ticket into his back pocket before walking back outside with Bill giving another thanks for the help.
Seeing that nothing was left on the road to see, Phillip walked back through the fork and over the bridge for the Pokemon Center. Phillip walked in and quickly healed his Pokemon to top form. He looked over their levels and saw that they all were Level 21. That meant he knew his next location.
The 2nd gym battle was awaiting him.
Sorry for the wait. I'm juggling school, homework, and needed gaming for later installments. (expect a Kingdom Hearts version)
All constructive criticism will be greatly appreciated.
Let the rants begin!
