Finding the gym wasn't too hard. All he needed was a description of it and it was a walk in a park.
Seriously, though, why someone paint a place made for Pokemon battling in circus colors and place a metal version of a water Pokemon was beyond his comprehension. It was like telling the entire population that the gym was a water-type user, leaving all trainers able to figure out their weaknesses and play it to their advantage.
He walked in and found himself in some stands above a large pool with a diving board at one end. On the other side of the room was another row of seats high above ground level. Phillip didn't look for a long time and continued past the scene. He then followed a case of orange stairs in a narrow room with the same color down to a lower level.
At the bottom, he found an aquarium with a mass of different fishes and Water-type Pokemon. The only down side was it was still colored the orange the stair case had. Phillip followed the light farther that were installed in the ceiling. He didn't get very far in, however, before hearing voices speaking.
Phillip soon found where the voices were coming from. There was large room that lightened only the middle, which happened to be a a pol equally as large as the one in the first room and with a couple platforms floating around.
Two flashes of light, even brighter than the light around the pool, signaled the battle's beginning. The first flash disappeared to show a purple butterfly with white wings, blue limbs and mouth, and red eyes.
It's mouth had two fangs out and two antenna swung in the light breeze the summon created.
The second one pulled out a star-shaped Pokemon. Its five appendages were golden-brown in color. A red stone were held in place at it's center by a golden ring that wrapped around the lower limbs.
Phillip pulled out his Dex and scanned the two, which pulled up as Butterfree and Staryu. He closed it before the Dex could spit out anymore details and watched as the fight commenced.
The Butterfree went up and just rammed into the Staryu, knocking it flat on its back. Staryu jumped back onto its " feet" and leaped at the airborne Butterfree with a spinning attack, which Butterfree dodged with ease. Staryu was forced onto one leg and hopped to the edge of its new platform. Butterfree used that time to Tackle it again. The Staryu took two more hits before it landed safely on the platform.
Then things got tricky for Butterfree. Staryu jumped off its platform and into the water, away from Butterfree's main assault. Staryu then came back up to spray a small torrent of water at Butterfree. The attack hit directly, but got out quickly. Staryu returned to the platform to shot more sprays, but Butterfree got wind of the scheme and weaved through the barrage. Butterfree glided over Staryu, leaving a yellowish spore in its wake. Staryu started twitching as the spores fell upon it, but jumped into the water to rinse them off. It came back good as knew.
Butterfree tried using a Sleep Powder, but Staryu just jumped into the water to avoid the spores. It then came out of the water with the spinning attack again, hitting Butterfree finally before diving back under. Butterfree, however, was a fast adapter. It dodged the next couple tackles Staryu had sent after it.
It's luck ran short, though, as Staryu's last attack hit home, causing Butterfree to fall directly into the water. This caused its trainer, who appeared to be Ash, to bring it back to the Poke Ball. Ash pulled out his next Pokemon, which happened to be Pidgeotto.
The other trainer, which surprised Phillip that it was Misty of all people, brought back Staryu to bring out a much stronger Pokemon.
This one had ten purple appendages this time around. There was a golden formation on its front that contained yet another red jewel, this time appearing to have been cut. The Dex brought it up as a Starmie.
Pidgeotto tried using Whirlwind, but Starmie easily stood its ground. Starmie then jumped into the water and jumped out from the spinning Tackle that would knock Pidgeotto back a few paces. Starmie came back for another strike, but was pulled out the hover with a Wing Attack. However, Starmie landed and the water and was quick to recover, coming back for another hit. Pidgeotto was just as fast, and as Starmie came back for another attack, Pidgeotto used a Gust to send it flying into a wall. The sound of a siren went off as Starmie's blinked on and off.
However, that ended the battle for now. Soon, the walls and ground began to shake as it a tremor was coming through. Suddenly, a wall gave way so everyone in the room could see the machine behind it.
It looked like car built onto a boat, only all made of metal, had tank wheels, and somehow able to break buildings. There were plumes of smoke coming out of a small somestack at the side of it. It was colored gold at the car part and silver with everything below it.
That's when those two came out.
To protect the world from devastation.
To unite all people within our nation.
To denounce the evils of truth an love.
To extend out reaches to the stars above.
Jessie
James.
Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light!
Surrender now or prepare to fight!
Meowth, that's- " Ah!"
Phillip's Poke Ball returned to his hand at the missed attempt. " Darn it. Almost had that one."
Meowth returned to the safety of inside the machine. " Call me when it's over!"
Jessie sighed as James looked over his shoulder and said, " You know, you could try defending yourself." Meowth wasn't listening, as he was too busy trying to get into the machine.
The two recomposed themselves as James said, " The Water Pokemon have the advantage."
Jessie continued the train of thought. " But if we steal that water away,"
James finished. " The Pokemon are ours for the taking."
At this moment, a tube jumped out of the machine and landed in the pool. At first, nothing happened, but then the smokestack released more smoke by the second and the tube began sucking the water out of the pool. Phillip was going to make a move, but the vacuum then released a surge of water that caught everyone in the room. The humans landed safely, but the Pokemon were now in the water, and the vacuum began its original function.
Phillip was beyond pissed. He never did like getting wet while in clothes. Therefore, he did the only thing that seemed reasonable in his mind.
He pointed all the fury into a lightning bolt and tossed it a Team Rocket. At this time, Ash asked his Pikachu to use Thunder Bolt.
The effect was almost instant. Team Rocket was burnt badly, they fell off their now broken machine and into the water, and were sucked into the very tube they used to steal Pokemon.
This, however, didn't stop Pikachu from being sucked into the tube. However, Ash was fast enough to get to the machine and play the reverse effect, sending the water and Pikachu sky high. Pikachu landed in the airs of one of three girls Phillip hadn't seen before.
_Scene Change_
Phillip watched from afar as Ash received his badge due to Pikachu's ability to save them as well as the fact that Pikachu could have won the entire battle before it would have taken damage. Phillip smiled as Ash gladly accepted the badge on those facts.
However, for Phillip, it was not done. Phillip came over to them finally to speak. " Now that the interference is over, I would like to challenge the gym."
The girls look ed at each other before Misty said, " Sorry. My Pokemon were all that were left."
Phillip shrugged. " I can wait if need be."
" I have a better idea!" One girl said, a pinkette in an orange dress. " How about we give you the badge?"
Phillip shook his head. " I will not take something I have not earned. I either have a battle now or later. If you can't give that badge under the correct conditions, then find someone who uses the same strategy and use them."
Just then, Nurse Joy came in. " Hello, girls. I-" She looked over the wreckage before turning to them and saying, " Have I come at a bad time?"
" Not at all," Phillip replied, not giving the others a time to respond. " Why have you come to this famous part of the town."
" Well," Nurse Joy started, " I came by just to tell the Gym Leaders that two Pokemon have fully recovered."
Phillip turned to the others. " Now you can't say no to a challenge." The three girls shared a glance before the pinkette sighed.
Coincidentally, Nurse Joy had brought the Pokemon with her, and, conveniently, the two Pokemon just happen to be a Staryu and a Starmie.
The pinkette threw out the Staryu first, similar to Misty from before. Phillip summoned his Pikachu out, causing the girl to slump over due to how fast this battle might become.
Staryu did its best to avoid the electric attacks, even using the last of the water to avoid them, but a rogue bolt hit the water. This caused the Staryu to be fried.
Starmie came up after and had about the same amount of luck as the other. All it could do was weave in and out of the barrage of lightning before the inevitable. Pikachu hit the Starmie with the last bolt as the Starmie tried using a spinning attack.
The girl fell down at this. " Not again! That's the third time this week!"
" Don't think each defeat as another number to the count," Phillip said as he helped her back to her feet. " Think of it more as a chance to improve. Find where you lack and aim to refine them."
The girl sighed. " I guess." She took a badge that was shaped as a water droplet from one of the others. " There, you've won. Now will you leave peacefully?"
Phillip took the badge. " Yes, I believe I can do so."
Once everything was settled, Nurse Joy taking the wounded Pokemon to the center, Phillip left immediately, near hurrying to whatever location was needed.
That's a wrap!
