Phillip opened his eyes to the sound of shuffling. He tried sitting up by using his arms, but flinched as pain coursed through his left arm. He looked down at it and saw the lower arm's bone was misplaced majorly. With a grab and a scream, Phillip pushed the bones back into place. Letting out hisses, he stood up complete, cradled his arm with his shirt, and walked down the silver corridor he found himself in.
What happened?
Gabriel spoke from inside Phillip's mind. " Do you not remember? The ship sank."
Phillip thought for a moment. Oh yeah. He gave a chuckle to himself before walking farther. However, he was becoming more drowsy as the seconds past.
" Are you not paying attention to the areas around you anymore?" Gabriel asked.
Huh? Phillip got his answer when something wet slid past his eye. He wiped it off with his good hand and looked down at a smear of red. However, he kept with his hope that the liquid might have been a drink forgotten. So he did the one thing he could differentiate between the two.
He gave the air around himself a small sniff.
The tunnel was filled with an iron scent, but most of it came from above and below Phillip. His head throbbed painfully and he reached up to his forehead to quell it, only for the hand to meet a liquid and he was met with more red by his thumb when he pulled back.
His head spun and Phillip almost fell back words. He regained his footing though, and continued to move forward in the darkness.
After two minutes of mindless walking and stumbling, he heard voices coming towards him. Phillip looked around and found an open room next to him. He ran into it and waited by the doors entrance.
The footsteps rushed by the room, not stopping for anything. Phillip peered through the door way and saw Ash and his friends running down the hall. Well, at least I know their safe. Phillip continued down the same path he was following before.
" Are you not going to follow them?"
Nah. They're in capable hands.
Phillip kept walking for minutes on end, despite the oozing blood. However, things take a turn for the worse when ships leans to one of the sides, causing Phillip to lose balance and begin to slide down the ships slope.
Gab?!
"Right."
Phillip looks down as his nails begin to increase in length and width while glowing bright white. He curves his hand and slams it into the floor. The nails go through and Phillip stopped completely. The ship turned to the other side, almost causing Phillip become perpendicular to the ground, but it shifted to the other side again.
Soon, the boat leveled itself out again and Phillip pulled his hand out of the ship. The nails shrunk back to normal size and stopped glowing. With another hiss of pain, Phillip cradled his arm once more and looked at the wall he was now next to. Fish could be seen swimming past and some small Pokémon as well.
" Let's go, Wartortle." Wartortle came out with a flash and turned to Phillip with a grin. It changed the happy expression to a sad one when it say Phillip in the bad state.
Phillip placed a finger on his own lips, asking for silence. Wartortle complied and then Phillip told it his plans.
" I need you to carry me out of the ship when I destroy this wall. Can you do that for me?" Wartortle nodded at the plan and Phillip resummoned the the glowing, longer nails. With two swipes, the wall was open and water was quickly leaking in.
Phillip looked back down the hall. Those three should be getting to the engine room by now. I hope they can get out enough.
Wartortle climbed on to Phillip's back, face towards the ground. Phillip shrunk the nails back and gave the wall a punch. The water rushed in and Wartortle carried Phillip out of the ship.
Once outside, Phillip turned to the ship and began closing the hole he had made with his only arm, hoping to give the others as much time as needed. Once done, Wartortle pulled its head into it's shell and used a Water Gun to propel the two towards the surface, Wartortle never letting go and Phillip doing his best not to breathe.
They broke surface and kept flying until the Water Gun finished. By this point, they were so high in the air that, if they were to fall, they would be a pancake on impact.
Phillip pulled Wartortle close to his stomach and willed upon the one thing he had not used. They fell back to the ocean and caused a large wave.
They had survived the fall, but only due to Phillip's skin absorbing the impact. Wartortle pushed them both to the surface and allowed Phillip to lay on its shell for a small recovery.
Gabriel spoke soon after. " I told you unbreakable skin was a good thing. But no, you wanted to keep a mortality check."
I'll only use it when I need to use it.
" What happens when you get ambushed?"
That's why I have you and why you're helping me. Phillip stretched both arms and groaned as they both gave a crack.
" Yes, I do give you an increased healing rate and quick mending bones, but I still can't help you if you die. Also, I'm your only anchor to every other dimension. Without me, you would have stopped in Xiaolin Showdown."
And I amen you for that, but your first passive has a somewhat greater use during battle.
Who are you talking to?
" No one you would want to meet," Phillip told Wartortle, who rolled its eyes at the response before it continued to swim.
" Oi!"
Oh, be nice, Gab.
" Show me some respect first."
I have given you respect in the past. But the longer we know each other, the more I need another reason to give you respect.
Gabriel just groaned and released the connection.
Now for real. Who were you talking to?
" I thought I answered that question."
Vaguely.
" Exactly." Phillip said with Wartortle giving a small sigh.
Time Shift: 2 hours
Phillip had to call out his Pidgeotto for a shift as Wartortle grew tired. So, now on the Pidgeotto's back, Phillip scanning the waters for the others, if they got out in time. He looked down at Pidgeotto with slight worry. He knew the birds were strong, but his Pidgeotto wasn't use to heavy loads. In fact, Phillip made sure the Pokémon didn't need to do any heavy lifting throughout the journey so far.
" I can swim if you want."
Wartortle wouldn't be pleased with that.
" And I told that same Wartortle that I could handle myself. The only reason you're out here is because Wartortle is too stubborn for its own good."
And who does that remind you of. Phillip stuck his tongue out at the remark. Pidgeotto chuckled a bit at this. Besides, I like to consider this some small training for ahead of time.
Phillip sighed before giving the sea another skim. The sun was out a bit ago, but it was now ducking under the horizon. Being so far out at sea, he didn't think they could find land soon enough. He heard his stomach growl and, not long after, Pidgeotto's stomach answered.
I'm going to grab a fish real quick. Phillip didn't respond, giving the okay for the attempt. Pidgeotto gave a sudden dive and snagged the fish from the waters.
" Great. Now show me land." Phillip said. Pidgeotto flinched at this, realizing the small miscalculation.
Sorry. My stomach thought before my mind did.
" Don't worry. I know the feeling." Phillip said, smiling down at the bird. He gave another scan of the waters and saw a make-shift raft off a few meters. Pidgeotto covered the distance quickly and Phillip found Ash, Brock, Misty, Pikachu, Jessie, Meowth, and James sleeping slightly. Phillip looked them over.
" Alright. Lets see if we can find land. Pick the ropes up and pull the raft, can you?" Phillip asked as he landed on the deck without a thud. Pidgeotto nodded and dropped the fish on to the raft. Phillip caught it and set the fish gently on to the floor. Luckily, too, as the fish would have cracked the raft if it hit. Pidgeotto took up the ropes and dragged them farther down the road.
Time Change
Phillip kept himself up through the night as to "dissuade" any wild Pokémon from attacking them. However, when the sun peaked past the horizon, Phillip dropped dead. It was a few hours later that he woke up, and that was because he smelt smoke and he thought someone was dumb enough to start a fire and was burning the raft.
Lo and behold, only the first part was true. Brock had found a way to cook the fish, but not have it destroy the raft: Charmander's tail. Ash and Brock watched as Charmander slowly cooked the fish for consumption. Misty was keeping an eye on Team Rocket, who all but Meowth were staring intently at the large fish. Meowth was too busy staring Phillip down to care about the fish.
" Look what the bird dropped in." Phillip looked at Misty who met him with a smile.
Brock was second to talk. " Nice of you to drop on by."
Phillip rolled his eyes. " You're lucky I found you here. Else, you might have died from hunger."
Brock grinned. " I wouldn't deny it." He turned to Team Rocket a little while after. " What do about them now?"
Phillip shrugged. " We'll hit land and then we'll wonder what we need to do."
Time past and Charmander's tail was still heating up the fish. Team Rocket was still getting antsy. Meowth had already tried eating the fish, but came back with no avail. Meowth then tried to eat an orange fish with yellow whiskers, stomach and back fins, and white pectoral and tail fins. However, that came with the price of Meowth's teeth turning into dust on impact.
James grew irritated and kicked the Pokémon into the water. There, it floundered about from a few seconds before flashing white. Soon later, a new Pokémon had replaced it.
The new one was a tall blue Pokémon with a yellow underside and spots along the body. It had a dark blue, three-pointed crest on its head and four white fins down it's back. It's mouth was gaping wide and had a blue barbels and a white fin on each side of the mouth.
" You messed up this time!" Everyone turned to Phillip, but he had already gotten Pidgeotto to turn the raft away from the new Pokémon, Gyarados if the PokeDex said anything, and told it to book it. Pidgeotto didn't waste any time and start flapping as hard as it could as to escape the raging Gyarados, who kept on their tail. Phillip summoned Charmeleon and Wartortle to help out. Wartortle pushed the back of the raft as hard as it could while swimming while Charmeleon used it's Flame Thrower to give the raft more movement, if the attack gave any.
Soon, the group was too far for the Gyarados to keep following. Along with it tired out, there was always the chance that Charmeleon may have damaged it in the retreat.
However, they were going much too fast, and by the time the words, " Land!" had reached Phillip's ears, they crashed into a beach. When they hit ground, they buried underneath the sands.
That's a wrap!
Any and all constructive criticism will be greatly appreciated.
Let the rants begin!
