Chapter five

'There is something I would like to ask, but you don't have to tell me. You earned the right to keep anything secret, especially after all the things Albus kept from you.'

'Ask and I'll decide then.'

'The death wards, that's what everyone called them. Were they done by you?'

Harry stared at Sirius then glanced at his wife who shrugged, 'Yes, I was so pissed off at everyone but I also wanted to make sure I was safe while I was in hiding. Apart from staying hidden and secluded, I did a lot of spying. Being away from that greasy bastard told me I was damn good at making potions. So using my cloak, I got a lot of hair from many different people then snuck into places like the ministry and Diagon alley. The women, Umbridge, she was going to be at Hogwarts where she would not teach anything and anyone that spoke out about Voldemort would be doing a detention with her. She planned to use a blood quill. She also was going to have Filch take certain students down to the dungeons where they would be whipped. Naturally I was on the top of her list but so were the muggleborns. She hoped she could work on a way to kill me without anyone finding out she was involved, but do the same for muggleborns. She turned up outside the wards I erected,' Harry shrugged, 'The death eaters just kept sniffing around where the house was. There was old ruins near it and I left it there in the hope it would put people off. I was lucky though, the house or tent couldn't be seen due to the wards I erected. Even when I left with the muggle government, I left the wards around that place so I had somewhere safe to go if I wanted to get away. The messages were automatically sent and it would change depending on who the person was and what they were doing.'

'Then Umbridge deserved to die, along with Fudge. Many believed it was Lucius Malfoy that killed him, or at least Voldemort ordered his death. What I don't get is Percy Weasley.'

'He was a death eater Sirius. He had secretly believed in what Voldemort wanted, a pure blood world. I found out he had personally killed two muggleborns and their families. The children were only six and seven. I didn't want his association with Voldemort to hurt the Weasley family. We knew it would, look at your situation. You're brother and cousins were death eaters, you were thought of as dark just by association. I might not trust any of the Weasley's again but they were kind to me when I was young. They just listened to the old man when many should have told him to stuff it.'

'Arthur was really angry with you at first. After he calmed down he realised you would only kill Percy if you had a damn good reason. He never spoke with Molly about what he thought, but he did believe Percy would do anything to get what he wanted. So if Arthur knew he had been a death eater, he would not have been surprised. Maybe you could let them know, at least they could stop grieving for a son who wasn't worth their time. So even if you are the headmaster now, did you enjoy teaching?'

'I did, I really did.'

'Harry was the most popular teacher here,' Sally smiled at her husband.

'Let's go for a walk, you'll meet the kids later,' Harry stood from behind his desk, gave his wife a kiss before he left the office with Sirius, 'I regularly check the rankings of all magical schools. The Queen's Magical Academy is now number one. It took a lot of work and a lot of meetings between many people. But we got a school that suits everyone but it gives every student a thorough education to work and survive in either the magical or muggle world. Even if a pure blood came here, they could blend into the muggle world easily. Before I left I found out that Hogwarts wasn't the top school, it was in Europe, but it was in the bottom ten when compared to the rest of the world. Schools in Australia, America, Canada, China and many others all combined magical and non magical education. It made it easier for the students since they had their full educational papers if they decided to go onto university or just to apply for a job. Since England is so old, it does have a lot of old families, but they just did not want to change. They especially didn't want to lose all their power. So many of the muggleborns or muggle raised that left Hogwarts realised they had been lied to. The muggle government began to help them with their education while they served in the military. That's when the queen put together different groups filled with squibs and muggleborns. There is a magical military squad, along with different parts of MI5 and Scotland Yard that is filled with magicals. It's for safety and security of great Britain, but it's also to make sure that no one in England tries to put the pure bloods back in charge.'

'It worked, there hasn't been any trouble since Voldemort fell. You did kill him, right?'

'I did. I was able to get the information about the prophecy, I informed the prime minister who worked it for me to be ready when the time came. I trained with the military and many of the magicals that left the wizarding world.'

'That was one thing Albus was always concerned about. If it wasn't you then would Voldemort return, again?'

'We made sure he could never return again.' Harry stopped and gestured to Sirius who turned to look in the classroom.

'So that's where Filius disappeared to,' Sirius grinned as he watched the little charms teacher.

'Along with Pomona, and Aurora. But there is one person here you might be surprised to see,' Harry gestured for them to continue until they came to another classroom.

'Is that Hermione?'

'Yes. She did leave the country with her parent's. After Voldemort was gone, the Grangers realised they missed this country so they returned. They kept the house in Australia to use for holidays or when the weather gets them down. Hermione enrolled in university to continue her education. She finished her magical education in Australia but did her muggle education at the same time. When she returned and just finished her university courses, she was approached by the part of the government that was tracking down people who seemed to disappear from the educational system at the age of eleven. She told them she hoped to be able to teach when she finished her education. After a few meetings, she was offered a job here as the ancient Runes teacher. It was one class that was only had the basics since we didn't have anyone that was a master in ancient runes. I even learnt what I could, but I knew I would never be good enough to teach, just to get by. Hermione married another muggleborn, she has three children who are in the other part of the school having there lessons.'

'So you have all ages?'

'Yes, it works well and none of the children have any trouble adapting when they start their magical education. But it works for witches and wizards as well. They can blend in perfectly in the muggle world because they learn everything they need, even how to use muggle electronics. The wizarding world will never have electricity and will always keep their traditions, which it should, but most witches and wizards just looked out of place in the muggle world which could be dangerous to our world. This was my idea and spoke with the queen about. To keep the statue of secrecy from most of the muggles, we had to learn to blend in better.'

'They do and many tried to get others to understand how dangerous it was. Most didn't want to listen. When you left and Voldemort took over, many places closed, like Ollivander's. He never opened again, then we found out he was killed. Where do your students get their wands from?'

Harry stopped for a minute then gestured for Sirius to follow him. They made their way outside and to another building.

'We have three masters in wand making working and teaching here. But originally, I was the one who was making wands. It started because I wanted a wand that no one could trace, but also not connected to Voldemort. When I began meeting others that left, we got talking and I realised that adding a bit of the person to a wand made the connection stronger and their magic easier to access. See, while I was crafting my wand, which took a long time, I dropped a hair into it and it became stuck so I left it there. I didn't think anything of it at the time. When I realised how good the wand felt and how easier the spells came, I decided to see if it was the hair or if my old wand wasn't really the perfect match. Adding a piece of someone really makes the wand perfect for the person who will be using it.'

Sirius watched the people inside making wands, but he could see they were also making staffs and brooms.

'You make your own brooms here?'

'It started so we would always have updated brooms and brooms in good condition. I allowed them to examine my Firebolt, some of them had shooting stars, or the nimbus. They got a wide range of brooms and began to examine all of them then experiment. We've been selling two different types of brooms now for five years. One is for racing, as many other countries have a racing league along side quidditch. The other broom is good for a school quidditch team, but they also have slight differences so they will suit whatever position someone plays.'

'The lightning bolt,' Sirius said as he stared at Harry.

Harry shrugged, 'They wanted to name one after me since I gave the school some extra money to kick this off. I said fine as long as it didn't have my real name or the-boy-who-lived. After a lot of names was thrown around they came up with lightning bolt. It's a fast broom, really fast and used for international races. Come on, let's go back inside, I'll introduce you to my kids.'

Sirius and Harry began walking back to the main building, 'Hogwarts might not last. Many believe it has a few years, at most.'

'It's a shame, but if the governors or the old man did any research they would realise why. Hogwarts might have worked a thousand years ago, even five hundred years ago, but times change, everything changes. We take a lot of students Hogwarts would have taken, but we know most pure bloods or kids raised in the magical world all go to Hogwarts. So why is it going to close?'

'There are hardly any students, not enough to keep such a big place open. There is only five full time teachers. Even Albus teaches now, potions. You know how most of those old families only had one or two children. Many only wanted one heir and no more. We found out that there was more to it. They couldn't have anymore. Most of those old pure blood families could only conceive once. It's all due to marrying family members. Amelia, Remus and I believe there won't be any pure bloods left in the next fifty years. The ones from long pure blood lines that are your age are having trouble conceiving, the children that are at Hogwarts will probably have the same trouble. We've tried to put the word out that they need to forget marrying a pure blood, it might be the only way their family will survive. Amelia and I did a lot of research before we married. We wanted to make sure we weren't related in any way. We aren't by blood, only through marriages.'

'If they don't listen then it will be their own fault,' Harry gestured towards a group of children. Two girls stood out, the ones with Lily Potter's auburn hair. Sirius could tell they had looks from both their parent's, but there was also a lot of resemblance to James and Lily. Sirius knew his old friends would be proud of their son and their grandchildren.
