Season 1, Episode 1
After the fight
Miguel ended up walking home. His hair was sticky from the medicine that Kyler poured on him, but he didn't think much of it. All he could think about was the guy that saved him from those bullies.
He could really use those skills. Had the cops not came, Miguel would've asked the man if he could give him some tips on how to better defend himself.
The cops showed up, and despite Miguel's persistence in telling them the man was defending him and that the kids started it, the officer he spoke to told him it wouldn't matter.
"Look kid, a grown man jumping a bunch of teenagers almost never goes in his favor, no matter what the reason. If what you say happened really happened, the best they'll do is look at security footage and he'll still be at fault. The justice system doesn't work the way it should."
After that, the officer told Miguel he should just go home, and charges wouldn't be too severe, but still there. Miguel sighed in defeat and headed back into the store to buy another Pepto-bismol, then made his way back home.
Once he got there he tried to be quick in not being seen, so he put the medicine on the counter and made a dash to the bathroom, before being interrupted.
"Miggy? Is that you?"
He stopped, hearing his mom's voice from his Yaya's room.
"Yeah mom, just about to shower!" He called back
"Would you bring the medicine in here first?"
Miguel hesitated, "Actually, I kinda jogged home, so I'm sweaty, plus I smell. It'll be a quick shower, and I put I put the medicine on the counter, so—"
"Miguel Diaz, don't make me ask again!" She cut him off with her famous 'you better do as I say' mom voice.
Miguel obeyed, grabbing the pepto and entering his Yaya's room. She lay in her bed and looked like she just woke up a few minutes ago.
Both of them gasped at the sight of Miguel.
"Miggy? What happened?" His mom asked.
"Nothing, mom. I'm fine."
"No nos mientas," Yaya warned. 'Don't lie to us.'
"It's just some kids from school, nothing I can't handle."
"It doesn't look like you handled it well tonight," his mom said, then continued, "school's starting again, should I call and tell them—"
"No! Look, it's just a couple of jerks and they saw me outside of school. They can't, and won't, treat me like that when teachers and stuff are around."
His mom and Yaya looked like they didn't believe him, so he added, "I promise if it really gets worse I'll tell you. Just, please, don't call the school."
His mom looked from him to Yaya, and one look between the two of them told Miguel he'd won.
"All right," she sighed, giving in, "now, where's that medicine?"
He held out the pepto, and his Yaya gratefully took it.
"No deberías haberte metido en todos estos problemas por mí, Miggy." She said as she was opening the bottle. 'You shouldn't have gotten into all this trouble for me.'
Miguel shook his head, smiling, "Cualquier cosa por ti, Yaya."
'Anything for you, Yaya.'
