A/N: Hey y'all I'm back with a new story. This was heavily inspired by the fanfic The Fox's Kit, which has been unfournately been taken down, so creds to the original author I guess. Anyways enjoy.

Naruto walked through Konoha. It was a late afternoon. Team 7 had just finished up a mission for that day and with nothing else to do he decided to take a stroll around the village. Thankfully not many people were around so he could have a peaceful walk.

Naruto sighed to himself as he walked. Today has been a long day. Today's mission was a pretty simple one; a D-rank mission to be more specific. And of course as usual Sasuke embarrassed him. He groaned just thinking about his name, oh how he loathed him.

And of course as usual Sakura fawned over Sasuke as usual, catering to his every whim. How he wished she would pay attention to him. But she was always annoyed at him and when she did pay attention to him she usually attacked or insulted him.

"I'll beat him one day," Naruto said to himself. "And maybe I'll wish over Sakura and she'll love me, finally."

He continued to walk through the streets of Konoha. Then he heard a voice that made him stop in his tracks.

"Hey Naruto," Sasuke said to him in a sarcastic and unfriendly tone. He was leaning back against a wall with his arms behind his back and his eyes closed.

Naruto glared at Sasuke. "What do you want Teme?" He hissed. "I'm not in the mood."

"I don't want anything," he said. "I just noticed you and thought I'd say hello."

"Yeah, sure," Naruto rolled his eyes. "You don't even like me when we're together half the time."

"Well excuse me for trying to be nice." Sasuke spat back.

"Like you ever cared to be nice to me."

"Oh shut it Dobe," Sasuke growled. He was no longer leaning against the wall, and he was glaring at Naruto with his arms crossed. Naruto returned a glare back at him, and walked away.

"Stupid Sasuke," He thought to himself. "I'm going to beat him one day. I'll show him. I'll become hokage, and then I'll prove everyone wrong."

He decided to continue his walk for a little longer. He walked by the park. It was fairly big and spacious, and nobody was around. Naruto decided to take a stroll down there.

He strolled through the park, looking around at the earthy green scenery around him.

Some birds chirped in the distance. He smiled to himself. Even though he may not seem like it, he loved nature. Since he didn't have any family or friends, he spent a lot of time in nature, and he's enjoyed it ever since.

Everything was silent until he heard a faint sound in the distance. He stopped dead in his tracks. He turned his head and stared in the other direction.

"What was that?" He thought to himself. "I thought nobody was around here except me."

Curious, he decided to run toward the direction the noise was coming from. He walked towards an area which had many trees and whose ground was scattered with leaves.

Just then, he heard the sound again. He stopped so he could hear it better. This time, it was more audible and he could hear it better. It sounds like babbling or cooing.

"I hear it!" He thought to himself again. "It kind of sounds like… babbling? I guess that's what you can call it."

He stopped for a moment and looked around to examine the area. He saw a tree near a large bush and a pile of leaves, a few scattered around the grass near the tree. He heard the sound again.

"It must be coming from over there," He said to himself. He ran over to the tree.

Just then, as he was going to examine the area, a flock of birds came flying down at him. Naruto screamed as he ducked them.

The birds clawed as they ganged up against Naruto, flapping their wings in his face. Naruto had an angry glare on his face, and he growled loudly.

"Stupid birds!" He yelled. He fought them off, waving his arms in front of his facts.

"Shoo! Leave! Get out of here! Leave me alone!"

He managed to fight off the birds until they finally gave up and flew away. Naruto groaned to himself angrily as he wiped his hands on his jumpsuit.

"Why do these kinds of things always happen to me?" He whined to himself in his head. These kinds of things always seemed to happen to him for some reason, it was like he had some kind of bad luck or something.

Then, he heard the babbling again. He looked up, and his mood quickly changed from angry back to curious. He looked towards the bush, which the sound seems to be coming from.

"I guess that's where it's been coming from the entire time," he said. He moved closer towards the bush. He looked over it, and what he saw next left him shocked.

Behind a bush, a baby in a basket wrapped up in a blanket lay on the ground. The baby had small black hair, green eyes and was sucking on their thumb. They smiled and laughed when they saw Naruto, holding and waving their little arms up.

Naruto's eyes shrank to the size of dots and his jaw dropped. He couldn't believe what he just saw.

"A BABY?" He thought to himself. "Who would leave a baby here? In the middle of a park no less?"

He crouched down at the child's level, simply just observing them. The baby blinked and giggled at him, still waving their arms in their face.

Naruto slightly leaned over the child, while still kneeling his leg on the ground.

"What are you doing here?" He asked. "Where are your mom and dad?"

The baby simply cooed back in response. Naruto sighed and sweatdropped to himself. Why did he ask a baby a question when it obviously was not going to answer back?

The baby seemed to want his attention, as they were holding out their arms to him.

After a while, the child's cheery demeanor seemed to fade, and they seemed to realize they weren't going to be held. Then, the baby's face scrunched up, their eyes slightly glistening, and then they let out a loud cry.

Naruto's eyes widened and he fell over, giving a small yelp. The baby's crying startled him. He lifted himself up and stared at the child with a worried look on his face.

"Hey, hey," He said to the baby as he leaned over the child. "It's alright, it's okay, shhh…"

Naruto was left harried and confused. He didn't know how to calm down the child. He had never dealt with a baby before. The baby was holding their arms up earlier, so maybe they wanted to be held? He didn't exactly know, but he figured that's probably what they wanted. He gently grabbed the basket containing the baby and walked off to the nearest bench, placing the basket down.

"Shh," he hushed the baby as they wouldn't make any more noise. "I'm here, your fine…"

The baby's cries had all but ceased at the point, and all was left was small sniffles and grunts. Once their eyes met Naruto, they started to smile and laugh again. Naruto sighed in relief.

"Dada!"

Naruto froze and looked down at the baby, his eyes popping out of his head in shock. "What did you just say?'" He asked, surprised.

"Dada!" The baby repeated, giggling happily as if this was the funniest joke in the world to them. Naruto just stared dumbfounded at the baby.

"I'm not your dad!" Naruto exclaimed. "Stop calling me that…" He croaked, starting to get a bit emotional. He lowered his head down, his face turned into a melancholy expression. "I don't even have one of my own..." He trailed off.

He looked up at the child, who was currently sucking on their hand. He smirked a little, he had to admit it was pretty cute. But his mind wandered off thinking about the baby's parents. Why would they leave a defenseless baby all out in the park alone?

They had probably abandoned them, or something like that. Naruto's blood boiled a bit at that thought. Why would abandon a baby out in the middle of nowhere. But at that same time he was also saddened too. They were now alone like Naruto was, and had no one. He decided, even if it was risky, maybe he could look after the baby. It seemed like a stupid idea, but he could leave them here.

Naruto smiled at the child. "I guess you have nowhere else to go, huh?" He said. He played with the baby's tummy a little, which caused the child to giggle happily. "Well you know what, maybe you can stay with me, I live alone so I don't have anyone else to stay with me...so, what do you think?" He asked the baby.

The baby babbled happily, as if responding to Naruto. Naruto laughed a little and decided to pick the child up from the basket, gently pulling the baby to his chest, who giggled and babbled happily all the while. Naruto happily looked down at them.

Then something hit him. "Hey," He thought to himself, "I still don't know what gender they are." He paled a little at the thought, but he knew what he had to do. He positioned the child so they were in front of him, and quickly checked the diaper.

"Ok," Naruto started. "You're a girl." Naruto said, confirming the gender of the baby.

He looked down at the little baby girl, who just stared back up at him, her green eyes meeting his blue ones. She smiled at him, and Naruto hugged her lightly, as to not smother her.

Then another thought struck him. He was alerted as he realized he had to do this.

"Well, if you are going to stay with me," He said to the little girl, "You'll have to have a name. I can't just call you baby."

He thought about a few names to give her. He couldn't name her Naruko, that would be way too slimular to his own and a dead giveaway, so he scrapped that idea. A few other names crossed his mind, until he finally settled on one he liked.

"I know!" He exclaimed to the baby. "How about Mio?" He asked the baby. He had heard the name somewhere and he really liked it, so he decided to use it. Mio giggled in response, as if approving it.

Naruto smiled and laughed at her, bringing her in for another hug. "I'll take that as a yes." he said. He loosened his grip of Mio slightly but gently, and adjusted her in his left arm. He grabbed the basket and the blanket, and looked up at the sky. Time had passed and it was now the late afternoon. The sky was now a light orange, making the dark tree. He looks down at Mio, who seemed content to just be in his arms.

He smiled down at her. "I guess you're with me now," he said to her. She just smiled and giggled up with him. He then started walking home from the park.
