"Well, let's see…."

I can literally go wherever my imagination takes me. So where would be best? I definitely want to go somewhere hospitable to dragons and I want to be able to enjoy the full experience of being a dragon. I can only think of three worlds; the dragon lands from Dragon Tales, the DragonRiders of Pern series, and the Legend of Spyro.

The Dragon tales are a little too kid-like for my tastes. And I don't really want to be a mount… so I guess The Dragon realms it is then

"Are you familiar with the Legend Of Spyro series?"

'Why yes I am, that was actually the place I was going to send you if you couldn't come to a decision.'

"Well, then it's decided."

I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little anxious about leaving. Not only would I not be able to come back, but I also won't know how my family is doing… and neither would they know how I'm doing either.

'Now, before I send you off I can grant you three wishes, if you will. And before you ask, no I'm not going to be like a genie and be all technical so don't stress about the wording'

"Why? You're already giving me a better life, why give me more?"

'Do you not want them then?'

"No! I want them, I'm just curious is all"

'I know, I was just giving you a hard time. So to answer your question truthfully, I think it's only fair I send you with some gifts since your entire life is being uprooted. Plus your being sent to a place you're not entirely familiar with, and I don't want you to die, at least not very easily anyway'

"O...k… well then I want my phone to work like it's supposed to in Avalar and I want it to never die or break. I have to keep in contact with my mom and let her know I'm ok."

'That is actually quite a noble request, I was expecting a little bit of a selfish request.'

"Wow, thanks…. Anyway, I do want every power in The Dragon Realm available to me, now I don't want to just automatically know how to use any of my powers, I want to work for it so I can feel some accomplishment and really enjoy it."

'That's quite a tall order, I might have to cut you short on your next request'

"Is having a personal dimensional storage space too much?"

'A little, but I'll let it slide'

"So can you send me to a specific time and place?"

'Yes I can, but if you interfere with the timeline I can't guarantee that things will turn out how you think they will.'

"That's ok I had no intention of doing that. I don't want to ruin the lives that they have worked so hard to make for themselves. But I do want you to send me to the Chronicler. He'll have all the information I need to train myself in the elements and maybe I can convince him to help me. And I also want to be sent to right after the world is put back together and Ignitus is the new Chronicler, if that's ok?"

'That should be fine, he'll know about your arrival either way, but this way no one else can accidentally see you pop into existence.'

"Can I say goodbye to my mom first?"

'Of course, but make it quick. The military is almost here.'

I pull out my phone from my little satchel that my mom gave me and turn it on. I go to my contacts and started a facetime with my mom. It takes her a bit to pick up but when she does it makes me happy. She seems to be doing ok.

"Oh Sam! Where are ya baby!?"

"I'm fine mom, how are you?"

"I'm doing ok, but where are you?"

"I'm at Stonehenge mom!"

"How the hell are you all the way at Stonehenge that's almost halfway around the world, you left just 16 hours ago"

"Well then you are not going to believe this then, but I actually went across the pacific to get here!"

"No...way… that's crazy!"

"I know right it was fun... but it was a little scary since I was being chased"

"What!?"

"The military spotted me and chased me from the Midway Islands almost to Japan"

"How in the world did you get away."

"I think I may have broken the sound barrier…"

"…."

"Mom?"

"That's amazing honey, I'm glad that I don't have to worry about you so much now"

'Not to interrupt but the military is almost here'

"Hey mom I have to go now, but I'll call you as soon as I can. The only difference being I won't be in this dimension anymore!"

"What!?"

"Don't worry mom it's safe, I'll call you soon, love you, BYE!!!"

"Love you, be safe"

I hang up the phone and put it away and wait for instructions. I can already hear the military in the distance so I have to get out of here now.

'Ok let me give you a quick rundown. That pack you have, it's going to be your extra dimensional storage space. If it can get past the zipper it can go in, so other than that you have unlimited space. And all you have to do to get something out is to simply reach in and think of what you want to grab.' Your phone, you don't have to worry about numbers, as long as you have the name of the person you want to contact in it, it will make contact with them. Additionally, your phone is connected to your thoughts now, so you can have it do everything you need it to without having to do any more awkward paw grabs.'

"Sweet, so when do I leave?"

'Now'

Then just as suddenly, the ruins all around me begin to glow and I can feel myself being whisked away. It sent a chill down my spine the entire time it was happening.

Then it just stopped. I'm officially off of earth now. I'm….Free.

It was hard to describe what I was looking at, at first everything seemed blurry, but then I realized that everything actually had this eathral blue glow to it. So I'm pretty sure I'm on the White Isles at least. So I started to wander around to see if I could find the main chamber and it wasn't long before I came across a circular room with doors lining it. My first thought is 'great now I have to face my greatest fear or do half a dozen trials before I can enter, but I was quickly proven wrong when suddenly the door on the far side of the room from me opens up. and to my surprise, ignitus was standing right there, in front of me. I could die happy now.

"Well, are you coming in?"

"What!?"

"That's why you came here, correct? To have me teach you."

"Yes, but I was kinda expecting to have to do some kind of trial first"

"Normally you would, but that wouldn't be fair in this case. You have been driven from your home and shoved into another world. I won't be the one to make your life any harder."

"Oh, I see…"

I was a little depressed from that. I was kinda wanting to see if I could do it, but then Ignitus looks at me with a smile

"Don't look so down, I'll get you on your feet. Then I'll kick you out into the world."

"Geez, a little harsh don't ya think."

I put a smile behind my little remark since I could tell that he was just trying to throw some humor my way to cheer me up a little.

"Well come along young one, you've only got six months."

"How come?"

"Well for starters I have a job to do, and school is starting in six months in Warfang so it would be better for you to learn there."

"Ok, then let's get started! I don't want to waste a second!"

"Hold on, you're going to have to do some studying first."

"Ok, then where do I start?"

"Nothing's gonna slow your roll is it."

"Nope!"

"Well then let's get you started on dragon culture."

"Already know it, and if I'm missing something I can just learn it at school"

"People might call you out for it."

"Ya but you guys just got done with, what, a 100 year war? So any lack of education can be explained away by the war."

"You are unexpectedly wise for your age, young dragon."

"I can thank my mom for that, she always tried to explain things to me rather than treat me like some kid."

"She sounds like a good mother, so I bet she would want you to start studying about now wouldn't she."

"Yes, yes she would. So what do you got for me?"

"Well you have the entire library to go through for information, but here are eight books on the basics on the eight most common powers in the realm. Once you finish these and can at least use those elements I'll start giving you some actual elemental training."

With that, Ignitus left me to do some studying. I look over the books to try and decide where I want to start. Well if I have to go to school in Warfang then I'm probably going to need to join a class based on my element. However, I have more then one. That could be a problem then. So I guess I should hide my abilities, oh well. So I should probably go for the wind element since I'm silver and most wind dragons are white and silver themed colors. So I'll start on the wind book and try and specialize in it.

So I spent the last few hours reading through the basics of wind and I think I have it down so I want to try it out. The absolute basic thing for a wind dragon to do is to move the air around them. So I concentrate on that for a second to get it to happen, I can feel a slight breeze around me and the drain on what I would guess would be my magic reserves. It left me a little winded, ya the pun was intended, so I definitely need to work on increasing my reserves and according to the book that would be by simply using my abilities. So I just sit back down on my cushion and start up a very light breeze around myself but not nearly as strong as before. This needs to be like endurance training, plus if I don't use my energy as fast as I can regenerate it I can keep this going the entire time I'm reading. Two birds one stone, nice! So I move on to the other books.

They're all pretty similar in composition, they tell you how each element is easily awoken by which emotion, how each one can be utilized, and where in the body the power can be felt the strongest. Wind is the wings, Fire is the heart, Ice is the lungs, Earth is the gut, Electricity is spread throughout the body (so muscle maybe?), Fear is the eyes, Poison is the mouth, and Shadow is the scales. Magic sure is fun to learn about it just expands your worldview.

I finishedreading the last book and I've been using my wind element nonstop the whole time and I'm definitely starting to feel tired from it, but I have one more thing I want to try. I get up off of my cushion and move into the center of the room and close my eyes. I want to see if I can use more than one element at a time. I stand there for a bit to concentrate on as many sources as I can. Then I applied energy, which I then focused into various little things that the elements can do that don't take up too much energy. When I opened my eyes I saw the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.

The energy of each element was all around me, there were some whips of fire and little streams of water dancing around in the air currents and chucks of ice twinkling in place in several little groups around me. The shadow at my paws seemed to be swaying like it was listening to a good song and the earth was vibrating with life. The poison element appeared in many different colors swirling around me in a rainbow of colors. It was just a stunning sight. Then I heard someone clear their throat behind me. I stoped what I was doing and look behind me with a little bit of surprise.

"I see you've picked up the elements in record time, impressive."

"Thank you, Yawn, but I'm drained from just that little bit. At least I can go to bed knowing I had a productive day."

"Well actually, you've been in here for 3 days now."

"Really?!"

"Yes you've made some major advances either way, this just means I can start your training sooner."

"Ok, I'll be ready, right after a little nap yawn"

"You don't actually need any sleep, your energy is just drained."

With that, he threw a green gem at me. I knew what to do with it but I had a question.

"Is there a way to restore energy without green gems?"

He looked at me puzzled for a bit, then started to open his mouth as if to tell me something, then he stopped like he was thinking about it again. He eventuallyrelaxed his expression and answered.

"Besides green gems, no, there isn't a way. However we do naturally restore our own energy, but that usually takes a whole day to fully replenish ourselves sometimes more if the particular dragon has a larger reservoir to fill."

"So is there a way to improve our natural regeneration?"

"Well there have been some that have claimed that ancestral crystals can do that, but there just simply isn't enough information to be sure."

"Don't you have access to these gems? You could test it out for yourself."

"I do, but I can't use them, and I'm not going to give them to you. Don't need you accidentally blowing something up."

"That's not what I was aiming for, but why don't we do a training session, and let me use one after I'm drained to see if it increases how fast my magic comes back?"

"I guess we can do that, but that means I plan on working you to the bone over these next six months. I'm making you earn. Every. Single. One."

I can definitely tell he's being dead serious about it. I'm in for it now.
