According to Ignitus, I've been training for 3 months now. The only breaks I've gotten are when he has to do his work as the Chronicler and even during that time I'm reading information on new types of abilities or new powers. So far I've added light to my list and I think I can use healing magic now too, but I don't know for sure since I don't have anything to test it on. The Ancestral Gems or Blue Gems for simplicity, seem to be increasing my ability to restore my own magic. My magic reserves have also greatly increased too, I can now sustain more of each element for longer periods of time now.
Something else interesting that Ignitus told me was that I've caught up to Spyro in skill thanks to the trials on the white isles and have caught up to him in magic output as well, so I'm already finding this more than worth it. He says that the only two things that give me a leg up on Spyro is the fact that I can use more than four elements and I have also figured out how to make a multiple element fury. Spyro can of course do this too, but according to Ignitus he hasn't actually done it yet.
"You ready to start again Sam!"
"Ready!"
Well, back to work I guess. It's a lot easier now than it was when I first started I felt like I was going to collapse after the first few sessions. Now training has become more of sharpening skills and trying to use up all of my energy in order to test the blue crystal theory.
So over the course of the next three months I'll be testing ome things. Like the variations on each element like water and steam for ice and lava for fire or nature for earth, electricity was a little weird though, it was basically a thunderstorm.
Wind was similar. And from what I've learned, fear should actually be called the element of emotion, you can use it to make others experience more than just fear. Now don't get the wrong idea, you can't make someone love you or someone else and it's biggest weakness is awareness, if you are aware that what you are experiencing is fake, the power doesn't work. Light can be inverted into darkness and shadow can be used to make oneself or something invisible. I even learned the big one, convexity. I also learned time magic too but I don't plan on using that unless I need to.
In the end, those three months flew by in nothing flat and it was time for me to leave and go live my life in the dragon realms.
"It's almost time, are you ready to go Sam?"
"Almost, let me just finish cleaning up. Don't want to be filthy for my first day"
It's my last day here so I'm taking some time to prepare for my first day in the world. I've been cleaning and polishing all of my scales, they were actually taking on a dull color. So I took some time to make sure I was thoroughly clean then I ignited myself for good measure. With that done I take a look into the mirror that Ignitus put on the wall for me this morning, to see if I missed anything. It's the first time I've actually gotten to really look at my new body. I'm completely silver all over but the scale pattern on my chest and stomach are overlapping plates while the rest of my body is covered in the smaller typical scale design. My horns are a slightly duller grey like a metal. They curve back and point up a little bit at the end. The scales on my face are even smaller, making it look smooth and more detailed. That's another thing I noticed, my scales can take a hit but they're soft to the touch, like petting a cat almost.
"Ok, I'm ready Ignitus."
"You done checking yourself out?"
"What. I haven't seen what I look like yet!"
"Really? Because most male dragons your age like to check out their muscles in their reflections."
I don't doubt for a second that it's true either, I mean I definitely develop some muscle while here but I'm not ripped. Damn it….. he got me.
"Anyway, I have a letter for you to take to the Guardians. They'll let you stay in the temple and take care of your living expenses. I know you were wanting to keep your powers a secret but there is an elder there who can see your aura, he would find out in an instant. I'll tell him in advance that you're coming and I'll tell him to keep quiet about it. He can also help you learn how to use your healing powers in secret if you wish"
"Wait, how are you going to get him to do all this?"
"Well I am the Chronicler, and besides he's an old friend of mine."
"Oh, ok then"
"And do me a favor, tell Spyro I'm ok. The Guardians didn't tell him that I became the Chronicler, they were afraid of him leaving to come and see me.
"What would be so wrong with that?"
"Some of the residents of Warfang believe that he'll end up like Malefor and want to keep a constant eye on him. So if he were to suddenly leave they would try and hunt him down and kill him just for slightly disobeying them."
"That's awful! He saved all of them and they treat him like that!? It's a wonder he hasn't ended up like Malefor with how everyone is treating him."
"Cynder is why he would never turn. She and him know how much pain came from evil like that and they never want to be the ones to cause it."
"I'm glad they have each other, and now they have me too! if they'll be my friends that is."
"That's nice of you, I hope you can help them, but for now it's time for you to get going"
"Thank you, for everything."
I reach up and give Ignitus a hug
"That's from future Spyro"
With that, I hop in the portal Ignitus had waiting for me.
When I exited the other side of the portal I found myself a decent way away from Warfang in a nearby forest. I wonder if this is the Forbidden Forest? I guess I'll have to ask Volteer for some maps when I get settled in. I take off into the sky as fast as I can, using my wind ability to get me going faster. I'm sure I just let everyone know I was here since I just let off a sonic boom, but I just couldn't help myself. I was flying through the sky and I was enjoying every second of it. I could have been to Warfang in a few minutes too if I had gone straight there. So, since I was taking the scenic route, and by that I mean flips and barrel rolls, it took me a good 20 minutes.
I fly straight toward the biggest building in Warfang once I finally reach the wall since I know that the temple is the biggest structure in Warfang. I stop mid flight However when I hear shouting from below. When I look down I see three guards coming up from the wall looking kinda angry. Was I speeding or something?
"Hey kid!, what do you think you're doing!"
"Uh, Heading to the temple. Was I going too fast?"
The guard looks at me, kinda surprised, but immediately refocuses "No kid, you're supposed to go through the gate not over it!
"Oh, my bad. I didn't know, I'm sorry."
"How could you not know! you've been living here long enough."
"Actually this is my first day here."
"That's impossible, there's no way a kid like you has survived out there on your own for this long."
Oh great. I completely forgot about a cover story for that. I could just make myself look like a coward I guess. I really don't care what other people think of me if I don't know them.
"Well, I'm really fast so nothing could ever catch me."
"BwaHahaha, ok kid I'll believe that, but from now on come through the gate."
I can't believe that worked, oh well. I continue on to the temple to find one of the Guardians. It looks like that might be an endeavor by its self with how massive the temple is. I land by the front entrance and look at the grand architecture as I climb the few steps leading to the door. When I enter the first thing I notice is how clean it is, it looks like every inch of it is polished to perfection. The moles sure do know how to get shit done that's for sure. I make my way through several halls looking for someone to give me directions until I actually come across a mole.
"Hello there! do you have a moment?"
The mole looks up at me and answers in a nasally sounding voice. "Sure, what can I do for ya?"
"Can you give me directions to one of the guardians? I was told to meet with one of them."
"Sure thing, come with me."
He begins leading me down several more hallways until we come across a courtyard and standing in the middle of it, was Cyril.
"There ya go young man, there is the guardian of ice, Cyril"
"Thank you."
"No problem"
Well here comes the moment of truth, will it play out like Ignitus said or will I be thrown out. I move forward into the courtyard and receive the verdict when I notice that Cyril is actually teaching a lesson to Spyro. So I stay back and watch and wait till they are done
"Hay, who are you!?"
I nearly jumped out of my scales when I heard that. I turn to look behind me to see who just scared the crap out of me and i find Cynder standing there looking at me angrily.
"You scared the heck out of me. I almost had a heart attack"
"That doesn't answer my question. You know what I don't care anymore, I don't care if you people want to keep an eye on Spyro at all times. The Guardians made it clear that no one was to be allowed inside of the temple."
"Now hold on, that's not fair. I wasn't here to keep an eye on anyone. I was actually waiting my turn to talk to Master Cyril thank you."
I know I wanted to be their friend but I'm not going to let her walk on me like that. So I turn back around toward Spyro and Cyril and ignore her. I'll talk to her later when she decides to cool off. Now that that's decided I'm listening to what's being said
"Now Spyro, I want you to keep practicing the ice bomb, it definitely needs some work but you're getting there. Keep up the good work"
"Thank you master Cyril"
Oh, they're done already, what a shame I wanted to see if I could learn something new. But now that his session is done I move forward to have my turn with Cyril. Cynder is right on my haunches the whole way watching me like a hawk. This is already annoying, It's definitely going to be the first habit I'm going to try and break her of.
"Hello Master Cyril, I was sent to meet with you about a letter"
"Ok, hand it over then"
"I can't at the moment sir"
"Why not!? If the letter is meant for me why can't you give it to me?"
"Actually I was told to give it to one of the Guardians and it has some very sensitive information" I glance at Spyro and Cynder a couple of times to try and get the point across. Cyril took notice of this and waved them away.
"Now can you give me this confounded letter."
"Now I can."
I pull the letter out of my pack and hand it to Cyril. I can tell that he already recognizes the seal from the look he gives me. He begins to read through the letter with extreme interest now. When he finished he looked at me with a look of fascination.
"You actually got to meet with Ignitus? How did you find the white isles?"
"It was by complete accident really, I was flying for my life from this pirate ship that was determined to catch me when a voice began to speak in my head telling me which way to go. Shortly after I ended up in his care until he could get me back here safely."
It's technically the truth I just didn't specify who was speaking in my head.
"That must have been quite an ordeal. Well I need to call a meeting with the rest of the Guardians now. For now, let me show you to a room for the night."
I nod my head and let him lead the way. We go down even more hallways to my temporary room. How many hallways does this place have? Anyway Cyril opens the door for me and gestures for me to go inside.
"It's only a guest room, but it should be sufficient for the night. I'll hold a meeting with the other Guardians and we should have a room ready for you by the end of the day tomorrow. Oh, and before I forget, school is starting tomorrow. You'll be expected to attend if you want to stay here. Have a nice evening."
Well that last bit was a little harsh but it's to be expected for Cyril at least. And he was right too, there really isn't much to this room, it has a single window in the back and a singular cushion in the corner. I mean it's a nice cushion but it was only one. I like lots of cushions to sleep on personally.
I bring out my phone for the first time in six months and text my mom that I was alive and doing well, really well actually. She responds but before I can even read it there comes a load knock on the door and I quickly put it away before answering.
"Yes! Who is it!?"
"It's Spyro, can I talk to you for a bit?"
"Uhhhh, sure…. give me a second."
I get up and go to the door and open it. And Standing in the doorway was the purple dragon himself, but right next to him was Cynder and she still looked upset. I just level my eyebrows and give her the really dude look.
"I guess I was right, you are upset with her"
"Well considering she started a fight with me for something I wasn't doing, ya I'm a little peeved. Putting that aside, it's nice to meet the two of you. And thank you for saving the realm."
I was a little confused, because both of them had a completely floored look on their faces like I had just said something profound.
"What, did I say something weird."
Spyro was the first to break out of the confusion to reply
"Actually, ya, no one usually cares that we saved the world and either attacks us or berates us for one reason or another."
"That's pathetic, every single person who would belittle the dragons that saved their lives isn't worth the dirt they stand on."
"Ahahahaha" Cynder just started breaking up laughing out of nowhere and I must have look confused because she quickly adds to her little spat
"Oh, I'm not laughing at you, I'm just laughing at the irony. Usually we're the ones being told that we aren't worth the dirt we stand on. He he"
"Well I don't believe that for a second, and I don't plan on letting you ever believe it either. You're cherished, whether you know it or not you have at least one person who will always love you."
I send a knowing look to Spyro and he almost immediately blushes.
"Oh don't worry, I know" Cynder then bumps Spyro with her hips with a little laugh.
"Anyway" Spyro clears his throat " you know who we are but what's your name?"
"My name is Sam, it's nice to meet the both of you" I say while giving a sarcastic little bow.
"Well it's nice to meet you Sam." Spyro returns my bow with a goofy smirk on his face
"So Sam" Cynder cuts in before we keep up our antics "you going to school tomorrow?"
"Yes I am actually, I was about to ask if you guys wanted to hang out with me tomorrow since I don't know anyone in the city.
"Oh, are you new to Warfang?"
Spyro seemed excited about the idea about me being new, maybe he thinks I won't have a bias because of it.
"Ya, I actually just arrived today. Why?"
"Oh nothing it's just not very many dragons haven't been to the city before, it's nice knowing I'm not the only one that didn't grow up here."
Oh you have no idea dude. But I'm glad it was as innocent of a reason instead of what I was thinking.
Anyway, we say our good nights to each other and head to bed for the night. For the first time in my life I'm actually excited to be going to school.
