Well, it's the first morning in my new room. I know the moles are going to repaint it a sky blue later today, but that green color just ruins the morning. So I get up and get ready for the day. It's time for the advanced classes and there is a good chance that I already know what I'm being taught but I'm ok with that, as long as I can keep practicing, I don't mind.

So we're sitting at breakfast, when we are told that the guardians are walking us to class today. I thought it was pretty cool of them, even if they're just going because they have business there.

We enjoyed our commute to the school talking about various studies that we do at the school. In fact the guardians were asking a lot of questions about the school. It made me wonder why they were going?

As we walk up to the school, everyone immediately knows something is wrong. There are several guards waiting in front of the school along with several teachers. As soon as we came in sight of them one of the teachers leans over to a guard and whispers something in his ear. Almost immediately afterwards, all of guards throw various elemental attacks at me. I can't do anything, if I react the way I need to, they'll know about my elemental abilities. I just have to take it and hope for the best. So I closed my eyes and braced myself for the impact. I heard all of the attacks connect with something, but I didn't feel anything. I slowly opened my eyes to reveal a large stone wall in front of me. Terridor or Spyro must have saved me.

"That is quite enough! I won't stand by while you attack an innocent child!"

One of the guards step forward "Master Terridor, my apologies, but that child is a wanted criminal."

"What!? What did I do?" I exclaimed. though, I'm pretty sure why they're here.

Terridor leans down to me, "don't worry about, it I've gotten it taken care of"

He pats me on the head and turns back to address the guard and the rest of the dragons standing there. "I'm well aware of the charges, I've already made my judgement and so have the rest of the guardians. Sam is Innocent, this establishment however, is not. We agreed to let the public run this school with a very strict set of conditions, many of which have been violated on the first day. So by the decree of the guardians this school is shut down until further notice." He said that like a royal decree…. It's a little breathtaking if I'm being honest. I'm standing next to one of the most powerful and important dragons in Warfang right now. And he's defending me with everything he's got.

"On what grounds!"

"You have no proof that we have done anything wrong."

"if you're taking the welps word in all of this, I can assure you that it was more than likely all lies."

"He's a proven criminal!"

"I'll stop you right there." Terridor just holds up a paw and silences all of them. "I will not have you slandering this young man's name. It wasn't him that ratted you out, it was a member of your own staff. Elder Treevus, if would." He just gestured to Spyro and Cynder's teacher. Wait!? He's an elder?

I turn and whisper to them, "Isn't he a little young he kinda young to be an elder?"

Cynder turns to me, "actually he's been around for 14 generations now, he's a nature dragon, so he's nearly immortal. And he's actually the grand elder." She said it so casually like it was nothing. I guess I'm still not used to this, but I'm pulled away from my thoughts when I hear Terridor speaking again.

"Like Elder Treevus just told you, you were given a bright student and you treated him like a criminal because he decided not to put up with a bad teacher." Damn I missed what Treevus said, "If you are willing to put one student's life in jeopardy, how do we know others are not facing the same problem. So our decision is final, this school will be shut down and the guardians will work with the elders to set up a new one."

Wow, I did not expect that. I guess that means no school for a while.

"However! Until such time comes to pass all of the students may come to the temple to keep up with their studies, otherwise they can expect a larger work load when the new school is ready."

I shoulda known. Well, it's something to keep me busy I guess.

"Terridor, I'm grateful, but why did you take my side? You barely know me. I should have just been completely alone in that fight."

"Did you not hear Treevus? He came by last night to try and sway our verdict beforehand because he saw your soul. He said you have something special that very few have, and that's not something that he would say so frivolously. In fact, I've only heard him say it three times now."

"Oh, I guess I missed that, my bad. So where can I find him? I've met him before but I would like to get to know him a bit more and truly thank him."

"You're welcome." I nearly drop my scales.

"Oh! Elder Treevus! I... I... I'm grateful for your kindness. I truly hope I can repay it in full" god damn I'm jumpy around people who can read me like a book. I hate it….

"Think nothing of it, and while you're at it, please just call me Treevus. I know I'm old, but I don't feel that old yet." Heh, he's a cool old dude. Even if he can take one look at me and tell what I'm thinking.

Then the old dude leans over and whispers, "and after a few centuries you can too."

This jerk! Why I outta just deck him. Good thing I like you.

He just winks at me and goes on about his day. Ya, I take it back, this dude is going to totally make my life miserable just so he can get a good laugh. A Classic old guy trope, right there!

"Sam!" Oh no, Cyril's pissed. Then while still holding an aggressive posture he ask in a very…. weird tone "Why didn't you tell us that you completely wiped the floor with Mrs. Fig!" What….?

Terridor raises an eyebrow and looks down at me too "Actually, I'm a little curious now too"

"As am I" Volteer chirped in the background.

Then flare smarts off, "Ya she's been one of the big pains in our side, we would have loved to hear that she got pummeled."

All of us just give him variously dumbfounded looks, but then the guardians all start laughing.

Cyril, between laughs, gets his two cents in, "why did you have to ruin it we had him"

Terridor looks like he's in actual pain from laughter so Volteer answers for the both of them, "either way, it was funny"

I can't help but laugh a bit too and neither can Spyro and Cynder. They already have accepted me, I guess this is what makes them great guardians.

Terridor straightens up and addresses me with a straight face, "in all seriousness, thank you, we have been looking for a way to shut down that school since the public strong armed us into giving them control and forcing Spyro to go."

I turn to Cyril "So that's why you wanted me to go there and try and get into the advanced class, Spyro was in danger there wasn't he."

"Yes he was, he would never fight back, so his life is in danger every time he goes into public."

Cynder just shoots me a knowing look.

Then it was my turn to get back at the guardians, I just slowly looked downward and prepared my act. "So…. you were just using me. For your own selfish goals!" I look up to see the half horror on everyone's face, but I was grinning, "And you didn't invite me in on the fun!? How rude!" Spyro was the first to start laughing and then Cynder.

"Oh! he got you guys good."

Cynder nods her agreement while trying to stop.

The guardians just share a look and it's not looking like a good one for me.

Cyril takes on his snobbish persona "well now that we're done with you, please remove yourself from the temple by the end of the evening. I will commend you however for completing your task ahead of schedule." He can't even keep a straight face. Volteer kinda ruined it too, he has a terrible poker face.

"Thank the ancestors! The color on the walls were atrocious anyway!" I gave them a little smirk and we all just smiled.

"So" Terridor puts a paw on my back, "wanna become a guardian?"

How do I respond, I can't very well be a guardian if I wield more than one element. Well I could fake it, but that would get me in trouble later. I guess I'll just have to improvise.

"I would love to, but"

"No buts, no one ever turns down the chance to be a guardian" Cyril seems so sure, I would hate to disappoint them, but it might get them in trouble.

"I can't accept"

"What!?"

I knew they were going to freak.

"Why would you turn down the chance of a lifetime" Cynder looks so confused and so does everyone else for that matter.

Terridor gives me a concerned look, "you're more than qualified Sam I know it's a daunting task, but you seem like you're more than capable."

"I know, but I just can't"

"Why the blazes can't you?!" Cyril is actually getting mad at me. I knew I was going to have a hard time because of my abilities, but I didn't expect it so soon.

"I can't tell you, you would hate me…."

Spyro looks appalled, "why on earth would any of us hate you?"

"I…" I don't know what to say. So I just look away. Should I just leave? They're going to be curious about it now and I doubt they'll let it go.

"Well let's just drop it for now, if he's uncomfortable with it, let's just leave him be." Flare, I didn't expect him to help me. I didn't expect anyone to help me really. I guess his father rubbed off on him.

"I agree with flare, let's just leave it for now." Cynder too, well she makes sense. She thinks she can sympathize, but if they knew. Spyro would really be the one to sympathize with me.

Volteer clears his throat, "well, you three have a whole day off go have some fun."

"I guess it's as good a time as any to go get things for my room."

I want to be left alone right now. I have to think about what I want to do next…

In the meantime, I want to at least be comfortable. So I'll just explore warfang and get some stuff for my room.

It wasn't hard to find the things I wanted, the market was massive. I got a bunch of cushions for my bed, I got some various little nick nacks for my shelves and a couple of books for my bookshelf. I'm glad I have my bag, infinite space is nice.

"So should we look into what he was talking about."

"No Volteer, he'll tell us in good time."

"I must agree with Terridor, he'll tell us when he's ready."

"I'm not so sure Cyril, he may never tell us unless we ask him or we find out by some chance. I know from experience…"

"Cynder's right, he won't just up and tell us, but we shouldn't force him either. We just need to accept it when we learn about it. What do you think Flare?"

"I think you're right Spyro, I'm sure my father would agree too." He drops the hint to the other guardians since Spyro still doesn't know that he is the chronicler.

"We just need to let things run their course."
