Faye slammed her book shut causing the small girl next to her to jump.
"You know it's really pissing me off that you're not talking, Historia." Faye glared at Historia.
Historia sat up a little straighter, but didn't meet Faye's eyes. It had been a little over a week since Historia has spoken. She had told everyone her story and then she lost her voice.
"All you do is mope around all day!" Faye pulled tighter on her ponytail and looked toward the floor. "I know you're still sad about Ymir, but you're not the only one who lost someone that day."
Historia looked to Faye, watching her fidget with some hair that had fallen loose. She had forgotten. Historia had been so overcome with her own feelings of grief at losing Ymir that she had forgotten.
"Faye, I'm sorry. I know how you must feel." Her blue eyes dropped to the ground again. "I know you and Reiner-"
"To hell with Reiner." The hardness of Faye's voice startled Historia. "Honestly, at least you know Ymir made her choice to protect you. That she actually cared about you."
Faye looked up to Historia, green eyes meeting blue. Historia could see the tears that Faye had so desperately tried to hide. Historia reached out and put her hand on top of Faye's hand.
"Faye, don't do that to yourself."
Faye pulled her hands back and leaned back in her chair. Rubbing the tears from her eyes. She took a steadying breath before meeting Historia's sympathetic gaze.
"Look, whatever Reiner and I had is gone. If we ever actually had anything." Her voice trailed off. "When we find him he's going to have to kill him. And I'm going to be the one to do it. I have to."
"Faye, you don't have to do that. You can let us handle it."
"I do." Faye sighed allowed," If you could save Ymir, would you do it?"
Historia didn't answer for a long while, "No. She made her choice. It wouldn't be fair if I changed it."
Faye hummed to herself thoughtfully. "I think would give just about anything to save Reiner."
Historia didn't have time to respond before the book was shoved open. Armin stood in the doorway.
"Sorry to interrupt. Captain Levi wanted us to finish up some chores before he gets back. Everyone's waiting in the kitchen."
"Of course." Faye pushed herself out of the chair and followed Armin, stopping at the door way and looked back to Historia. "We have to let them go, Historia. It's the only way we can keep living."
Historia glanced up at Faye, unsure how to respond. Faye sighed again and headed out toward the kitchen where the others were waiting, her head flooded with thoughts.
She knew she had to let Reiner go, she couldn't save him. She just didn't know if she could.
A/N guess who's back, sort of. Been pretty lazy and fairly unmotivated but here's a little something. I'm going to try and write more.
