A/N: And now, this is where things start to go differently. But how different you ask? Well, let's find out as you read further. :)
Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet the Wolfman
Chapter 4: A Ferocious Encounter
Later, at night, Alvin, Simon, Theodore, Amy, Brittany, Jeanette, and Eleanor were on their way back to their respective homes.
"I just feel so sorry for Nathan. He must come from a very unloving family.", Jeanette spoke.
"You know, I don't care if he comes from a pack of angry wolves.", Brittany responded.
"Wolves?!", Alvin exclaimed.
"That was just a figure of speech, Alvin.", Amy assured.
"Oh, but Brittany...", Jeanette began only for Brittany to interrupt.
"Oh, please! This compassion you feel for mankind is sickening, Jeanette.", Brittany interrupted.
"You wouldn't be saying that if that compassion benefits you one day. I'm just saying.", Amy retorted.
"I wonder why Nathan picks on you so much, Theodore.", Eleanor pondered.
"Beats me. Maybe he just doesn't like me.", Theodore responded.
"We already know that, Theodore. What we don't know is why he doesn't like you.", Amy responded just before a twig snapped with Alvin gasping.
"Did you guys hear that?", Alvin asked.
"Hear what?", Theodore asked.
"Someone's behind us.", Alvin responded as he and the others turned around to see a dark, vacant sidewalk with naught but fog and leaves blowing across the wind.
"So what? It's a public sidewalk.", Simon stated.
"M-Maybe it's...Nathan.", Theodore spoke.
"I don't hear anything.", Eleanor responded.
"Yeah. If that really was Nathan, he'd already be there by now.", Amy responded.
"Alvin, it was just your imagination.", Simon spoke.
"Maybe. And maybe not!", Alvin responded before Simon grabbed his arm and dragged Alvin along.
A few moments later, the group passed by a gate toward the front entrance.
"Uh, gee. It, uh, seems a little dark tonight. Doesn't it?", Jeanette asked.
"Oh. It's probably just the fog.", Eleanor guessed.
"I hate fog.", Brittany spoke before Simon sighed.
"It's merely condensed water vapor suspended from...", Simon began.
"Like I care! I-It's creepy and it makes my hair frizz.", Brittany responded before Alvin stopped the group.
"Now what?", Brittany asked.
"It sounded like...breathing.", Alvin responded before there was a growling sound ahead of them.
"You're right. Although, it sounded more like growling to be honest.", Amy responded before wind blew around.
"What's that?", Alvin asked in worry.
"Alvin, there's nothing...", Simon began before another growling sound erupted, but louder and the source was now visible as it stood with a growl with glowing red eyes.
"Wow. That is one big dog.", Amy spoke in awe.
"Oh, really? What kind of dog is that big and has glowing red eyes?", Alvin asked.
"Lots of dogs have that kind of flash in their eyes, Alvin.", Simon dismissed.
"M-Maybe, he's hungry.", Theodore guessed as the beast was practically drooling by the side of his mouth in anticipation.
"Huh. So he is. Good thing I still have some leftover turkey in my lunchbox. I mean, I was planning on saving this for dinner, but now's a good time as any.", Amy grinned as she got out her bag and got out the turkey before walking toward the growling beast.
"Be careful, Amy.", Jeanette warned as Amy walked more cautiously with each step.
"Easy, boy. I know you might be hungry. So, I thought I'd give you a little something for your tummy. So that..., you know, you wouldn't get cranky.", Amy assured a bit nervously with slight chuckles before the beast growled as it neared the contents in Amy's hand and sniffed them.
After a moment, however, the beast roared and quickly scooped the leftover turkey slices from her hand into its mouth, inadvertently scraping the back of her hand with its teeth in the process.
"Aah!", Amy exclaimed as she reeled back.
"Amy!", the Chipmunks and chipettes gasped in worry before hurrying over to her.
"A-Are you okay?", Theodore asked.
"Yeah. I'm fine, but it kinda hurts...", Amy responded, gesturing to a small, red scrape across the back of her hand.
"Guys? Look.", Alvin spoke, pointing to the beast, who was still tasting the turkey as it seemed halfway finished eating it.
"Yeah. Uh..., let's all go home.", Amy responded before the Chipmunks and chipettes agreed with nods and both groups cautiously continued as they were only to run the rest of the way back to their respective homes once they got close enough with Amy following Alvin, Simon, and Theodore before all four got inside and closed the door behind them.
"Whew. I think we're safe now.", Amy sighed before Dave walked in.
"Hi, guys. Just in time for...", Dave began before Alvin interrupted.
"Quiet! It's out there...", Alvin interrupted as he climbed up on top of Simon.
"What's out there?", Dave puzzled.
"Well, let's just say it was a big, hairy dog that really has a thing for processed meats.", Amy responded.
"Like that scene from 'Invasion of the Pet People'!", Alvin added before a knock on the door was heard, taking Alvin aback as he screamed while losing balance and then falling backwards.
"Oh, man...", Alvin groaned as he recovered before Dave went over to the door and was about to open it when Alvin noticed it and gasped before leaping on top of him.
"Don't answer it!", Alvin shouted as he leapt up on top of Dave, stopping him from answering it.
"Alvin! Let go! I-I can't breathe!", Dave urged before the knocks sounded again as he put Alvin down and was about to open the door.
"Dave, no!", Alvin shouted before Dave opened the door to reveal a sort of man in a red shirt with a coat holding a cane with a silver wolf-shaped handle on top as Alvin tried to speak only to be muffled as Simon and Theodore led him away.
"Can we help you?", Dave asked.
"Mr. Seville, my name is Talbot. Lawrence Talbot. I'm your new neighbor.", Talbot greeted.
"Mr. Talbot! It's a pleasure to meet you. Oh, and this is my niece, Amy.", Dave introduced.
"Hi, Mr. Talbot.", Amy greeted.
"Hello, Amy. That flower on your head. It...it looks really nice.", Mr. Talbot spoke.
"Thanks. Would you like to come in and eat with us?", Amy asked.
"No. Thank you.", Talbot responded before noticing a lone bite mark across Amy's right hand, which caught him unawares as he suddenly gasped in alarm.
"Your hand! What on earth has happened to you?", Talbot asked in worry just as Dave noticed as well.
"What do you mean?", Amy pondered.
"That. What happened to your hand?", Dave asked.
"Oh, that? On our way home, a big, hairy, hungry dog stood in front of us in the middle of the sidewalk. He must've been really excited because he accidentally scraped one of his teeth against the back of my hand when he ate the turkey.", Amy explained.
"Oh, no. He really did that?", Dave asked.
"Yeah. Can't say I blame him, though. It must've been really tasty. He must've also been playful, too.", Amy responded.
"A big..., hairy..., hungry dog...?", Talbot asked a bit nervously.
"Yeah. That's what I said.", Amy responded.
"Mr. Talbot, are you sure you're all right?", Dave asked before Talbot growled softly, trying to pull himself together.
"Oh, I'm... I'm sorry. It's just that...someone in this house wakes me up with their screaming every night!", Talbot responded.
"I know the feeling. Believe me...", Amy groaned.
"That's Alvin. He says your dog woke him up with its howling.", Dave responded.
"I don't own a dog.", Talbot responded.
"Told ya.", Amy spoke to Alvin.
"Then, what are you doing with all those bones?", Alvin asked.
"How did you know I had bones?", Talbot asked in surprise.
"Ha, ha. I didn't until just now.", Alvin responded.
"Alvin, will you just cool it with this?", Amy asked just as the full moon started to rise nearby behind the houses.
"I'm so sorry, Mr. Talbot.", Dave apologized before Talbot noticed the moon rising and had to end the conversation quickly.
"I have to go. Please excuse my behavior tonight. I'm...not myself.", Talbot apologized.
"Of course, and please, if...", Dave began before Talbot sniffed a scent from in the house nearby.
"Your lasagna's burning.", Talbot spoke.
"Oh, no. Dinner!", Dave spoke as he hurriedly ran back to the kitchen.
"Good night.", Talbot spoke before walking away with a growl.
"Good night, Talbot.", Amy spoke before closing the door.
"I'm tellin' ya, that guy creeps me out.", Alvin spoke.
"Now that you mention it, something does seem a bit off with him. I'm almost worried about what he might be going through right now.", Amy agreed just as Dave got the lasagna out from the oven and set it down on top of the stove.
"How'd he know I was making lasagna?", Dave asked.
"Well, it's not really that hard when you're close to the kitchen, even when you're outside.", Amy responded before Alvin laughed a bit nervously.
"Well, beddy-bye time!", Alvin spoke nervously before running up the stairs only for Amy to stop him.
"Oh, no, no, no! You're not getting out of it that easily.", Amy spoke as she held Alvin up by the back of his shirt.
"She's right, Alvin. As soon as I go patch up Amy's bite injury, we need to talk.", Dave responded before Alvin sighed in defeat as Amy set him down.
"You guys wanna wait in the den?", Dave asked.
"Oh! Do we have a choice?", Theodore asked.
"Nope.", Dave responded.
"Then..., we'd love to.", Simon responded before pushing Theodore gently along toward the living room.
"So, how are we going to patch it up?", Amy asked.
"That depends on how serious it is. Here, let me see it.", Dave spoke as he then gently held Amy's hand and saw the bite mark on the back of her hand.
"Well, it doesn't look too bad. Let's go clean it up. Did you recognize the dog?", Dave asked.
"Not really, no.", Amy responded as she shook her head.
"Well, don't worry about it. I'm sure we'll find it. You just wait right here while I go get some bandages for your hand.", Dave assured as he then went upstairs to get something for her wound.
"Thanks, Uncle Dave.", Amy thanked.
"Alvin!", Theodore whispered.
"In here. Come on.", Simon added with a whisper just as Alvin and Simon spotted the remote on the couch.
"I got the remote!", Alvin and Simon spoke in unison as they ran to the couch before the latter ran and grabbed the remote before Alvin landed in a cushion, failing to get the remote.
"Ha, ha.", Simon spoke before turning on the TV to show a sort of program with a sort of psychic lady with a crystal ball in it.
"Oh, cool! Madame Raya!", Alvin grinned.
Naturally, Simon was disgusted and tried to change the channel before Alvin grabbed the remote from him and changed it back.
"Hey!", Simon exclaimed.
"Ha, ha, yourself!", Alvin smirked as Amy couldn't help but lean in toward the side of the rectangular archway toward the living room as Madame Raya spoke in the program.
"We'll get back to 'The Wolfman and the Mummy Go to College' in just a moment. Oh, I can't wait to see if the Mummy makes the football team!", Madame Raya grinned.
"Aren't you afraid this'll rot your brain?", Simon asked.
"Too late.", Alvin responded.
"I honestly don't know what Alvin sees in that program. It's just a show.", Amy spoke to herself.
"In addition to being a fine example of cinematic art, today's film makes an important point: Monsters can pop up anywhere! College, the supermarket, even your own home!", Madame Raya spoke before Alvin gasped.
"She's right.", Alvin spoke before Madame Raya opened the blinds of the carriage to show inside a book before getting it out and presenting it.
"That is why you need Madame Raya's 'Monster Book of Monster Facts'! For only $13.95, you can learn all there is to know about monsters so you can protect yourself. For instance, did you know werewolves are allergic to spandex? Maybe that's why you've never seen your mailman wearing bike shorts.", Madame Raya spoke before laughing.
"Bike shorts. The old lady across the street. Really dry skin? Or a mummy? Now, you can tell the difference! This may be the most important book you ever buy, because I'm-a tellin' you. Monsters are everywhere!", Madame Raya spoke before the last word echoed in Alvin's mind.
"Oh, boy. Not again...", Amy sighed.
"Plus, if you order now, I will include this amulet. Doesn't do anything, but I got a real good deal on them from my cousin.", Madame Raya added as she also got out a necklace with a crystal at the end of it.
"Ooh! That's pretty.", Theodore grinned.
"Okay. The amulet doesn't seem so bad.", Amy grinned before Madame Raya then out the amulet away and then held up a piece of cardboard with "1-800-4-Raya" on it.
"Just $13.95. Order today, before my over-insured warehouse has a mysterious fire! Ooh. 1-800-4-RAYA. You must be 18 to call, but don't worry about it. We don't ask. That's 1-800-4...", Madame Raya continued before Simon turned off the TV.
"Huh? Hey! Simon.", Alvin groaned.
"That's enough of that.", Simon spoke.
"Oh, yeah?", Alvin asked before he leapt up toward Simon, who managed to get off the chair in time with Alvin then going after Simon toward the remote, only for Simon to good him back.
"Don't you get it? She's right! There's a monster in our own block!", Alvin urged.
"Oh, puh-lease!", Simon sighed.
"Clean your glasses, pal. Footsteps in the fog, howling at night... Oh, there's a monster around here, all right! And you know who I think it is?", Alvin asked.
"Uh-uh.", Theodore responded as he shook his head.
"Mr. Talbot!", Alvin responded.
"Oh, Alvin.", Theodore responded.
"Why don't you guys believe me?", Alvin asked as Simon walked over toward the shelf below the TV and then got out a sort of photo album and opened it.
"What's that?", Alvin asked before Simon cleared his throat.
"Mrs. Johnson, Mr. Haskell, the milkman, Father O'Malley, the lunch lady, the paper boy, the...", Simon began before Alvin interrupted.
"Enough already! Who are these people?", Alvin asked before Simon closed the album.
"Just the few of the hundreds you've accused of being a werewolf, mummy, vampire, or she-wolf! Just about everyone in Tien is in here, Alvin, except Dave and Amy.", Simon responded as he then put the photo album away.
"Dave. Of course!", Alvin spoke as he snapped his fingers before Simon and Theodore started laughing.
"Uh, no. Dave?!", Simon shouted.
"What about Uncle Dave?", Amy asked before Alvin turned around and saw both Amy and Dave, who was glaring at him before Alvin laughed a bit nervously.
"Who's in the mood for lasagna?", Alvin asked.
Later, Dave was already finished wrapping a bandage around Amy's hand in the bathroom.
"There. Your hand should be good as new in about a day or 2.", Dave assured.
"Thanks, Uncle Dave.", Amy grinned.
"It's a pleasure. Oh, and before you can go to bed, though, there's still one more thing I need to take care of.", Dave responded as he got out and carried a nearby box from the floor.
"Oh, boy...", Amy sighed.
A/N: And there you have it. 1 out of 3 surprising changes found. But wait, there's more. :)
