Episode 30: Families that Grow and Learn
After leaving Lavender Town, Hana and her friends continue their journey to Silver Town and Diana's next Pokemon Contest. And then to Saffron City to Hana's Gym Battle.
Diana asks, "Hey Hana, are you going to be okay there?"
"Sure I am. Why'd you ask?" Hana replies.
"I think it's because Latios and Latias are flying next to you and your brother and sister are walking next to you," Chase says.
"And Winter and Cubone are sitting on your shoulders," Diana adds.
Then Akira says, "And you have Pikachu on your head. Not to mention you're holding your Pokemon Egg in her arms."
Indeed, all her baby Pokemon including Pikachu are either beside her or are sitting on her. Finally, Hana is holding her Pokemon Egg.
Hana smiles, "I don't mind. I do that with my brothers and sisters so I'm used to it. Besides, you're holding your eggs too guys. Akira has Alistair and Diana has Ember"
"I guess you're right. I'm just excited. This is the first time I'm taking care of a Pokemon Egg so I'm excited," Diana asks.
"Having a Pokemon Egg is fun, but It's also important to take care of it. You're basically taking care of a life that is ready to be born," Hana says.
"I know what you mean. I helped my parents take care of Pokemon Eggs all the time with my parents," Chase says.
"Raising Pokemon Eggs are great. I remember raising Alistair from an Egg before he hatched," Akira says.
"Pika Pika," (And I love you taking care of me.) Alistair happily says.
Hans then turns to Winter, "And Winter was also born from an Egg too. Along with Latios and Latias."
"Cubone Cubone Cubone," (Sounds like you are a real mother to Pokemon.) Cubone happily says.
Hana blushes, "I don't know about that."
"What did Cubone say?" Diana asks
"He said that I'm a real mom to Pokemon," Hana says.
The group laughed.
Suddenly, Akira's Egg is beginning to glow causing him to stop in their tracks.
"My Egg… it's glowing," Akira says, surprised.
Then Chase's Egg begins to glow.
"My egg is glowing too," Chase says, surprised.
Then Diana and Hana's Egg.
They both exclaim, "Mine too!"
"That means that our eggs are going to hatch," Akira says.
"But we're still ways from Silver Town," Hana says.
Chase looks at the map and says, "There are cabin areas for trainers to rest. We can stay in one of them."
"Let's hurry," Diana says.
Hana looks up, "And soon, it seems that a storm is coming.
The group begins to run as fast as they can to reach one of the cabins so they can rest and before their eggs hatched. Sometime later, the group of friends are able to reach the cabins, and are able to find one that is enough for all of them. The group hurries inside the cabin as the rain begins to pour down. Lighting and thunder begin to make loud sounds causing Cubone and Winter become scared and huddle together on the couch.
Hana, who is sitting next to them, pets the two to calm them down, "It's okay. The storm will pass."
Akira looks at the window, "It may be a while. The storm looks like a pretty big one."
"It's a good thing we came to the cabin in time," Diana says as she dries Ember.
Since Ember is a fire type Pokemon, water isn't her cup of tea. She then shakes the water off of her.
"Well, it looks like we'll be staying here for the night," Hana says.
"Yeah. But it's a good thing we found a place to stay for the night. And we'll head to Silver Town in the morning," Chase says.
Then the four Pokemon Eggs begin to glow again.
Hana says, "I think it's time."
"Already," Akira says, holding his Pokemon Eggubator.
Each of the friends remove the lid from their Eggubators and hold their Pokemon Eggs. Everyone watches as the four Eggs begin to glow bright. First, Akira's Egg is the first to hatch into the baby Pokemon.
The Pokemon that is born from Akira is a small, yellow, canine Pokémon. It has black legs and torso, a yellow tail, and a yellow collar. It has white rounded bumps on the backs of its forepaws. It has a black "mask" and red eyes. It stands on its toes instead of its entire foot, and cyan blue collar on its neck. It has developed two black appendages that hang down from its head.
Hana and the others are amazed to see this Pokemon. The little Pokemon looks up to see Akira and shows a smile on its face.
"Aww, it's so cute, Diana says.
"It's a Riolu, and a shiny one," Chase says.
"I think she's cute," Hana says.
"She?" Diana says, confused.
Akira says, "Yep. This Riolu is a girl. I can tell. I'm going to call her… Winnie."
The little Riolu barks with a smile.
"I think she likes it," Diana says.
Akira brings out his App and cans the little Riolu
Dexter says, "Riolu, the Emanation Pokémon. When sad or scared, Riolu's aura becomes stronger as a way of signaling its allies."
Just then, Diana's Egg glows brighter and it hatches as well. Diana's baby Pokemon is a small, ground-dwelling rodent Pokémon with pale yellow fur. Its ear-tips, collar, and tail are black and angular, pink cheek pouches, and its tiny nose looks like a dot. And the little Pichu also has bangs.
The little Pokemon looks up at Diana and happily says, "Pichu. Pichu" (Mommy. Mommy.)
"It's a Pichu," Chase says.
"Aww. It's so adorable," Hana says.
Diana happily says, "Hello Pichu, it's nice to meet you.
Diana brings out her Pokedex, and Dexter says, "Pichu, the Tiny Mouse Pokémon. The electric sacs on Pichu's cheeks are small. If it tries to store more electricity than they can hold, Pichu will shock itself."
Pichu sneezes and lets out a little electricity. Diana giggles and pets Pichu on the head.
Next, Chase's Pokemon hatches from the Egg. The baby Pokemon is a small, fish-like Pokémon with a round, blue body. It has large yellow eyes with pupils shaped like plus signs, a pair of semi-transparent, light blue pectoral fins, and stubby feet. Positioned on its rear where its tail would be are a pair of antennae that curve up and over its head. The antennae developed from fins and have yellow, teardrop-shaped orbs at the tips.
"Chou," The little Pokemon calls out.
"It's a Chinchou," Chase says.
Diana brings out her Pokedex and Dexter says, "Chinchou, the Angler Pokémon, have the ability to conduct electrical currents from their two tentacles, which flow positive from one end and negative from the other. Chinchou can also communicate underwater by flashing its tentacles."
"Hi Chinchou. My name is Chase. It's nice to meet you," Chase says.
"Chou," (Hello.) Chinchou happily replies.
Finally, Hana's Pokemon Egg glows and soon hatches into the baby Pokemon. This Pokemon is a small femininely anthropomorphic figure with musical bar-style streaks in its green hair with blue dots like notes, quarter notes for its arms and hands and pupil-less eyes resembling whole notes (semibreves). It has a blue jewel on its forehead and a black headpiece that seems to be shaped like a treble clef which doubles as an attached microphone such as one often used by singers. Its ovular head seems to be ⅓ its body's height and about half its height in width.
The little Pokemon lets out a yawn and looks up to see Hana.
Hana smiles and says, "Hello."
"Letta," (Hello) The Pokemon shyly says with a smile.
Chase, Diana, and Akira are surprised to see the Pokemon.
Chase says in shock, "It's a Meloetta, an extremely rare Pokemon."
"Meloetta?" Hana says, confused.
She brings out her Pokedex, and Dexter says, "Meloetta, the Melody Pokemon. Its melodies are sung with a special vocalization method that can control the feelings of those who hear it. Meloetta is an extremely rare Pokemon that is hardly seen by humans."
The Pokemon, Meloetta reaches her arms to Hana. Hana then picks the little Pokemon up and places her in a holding position.
"Well, it looks like we have more members in our group," Hana says.
"You can say that again," Chase says.
Soon, the newborn Pokemon's stomach begins to grow, even Cubone, Winter, and all the Pokemon out of their Pokeballs have growling stomachs.
"Looks like we're all hungry," Akira says.
"Yes. I suppose it is time for dinner," Hana says.
"Yeah," Chase says.
Soon everyone calls out their Pokemon from their Pokeballs, "Come on out, everyone!"
Soon, all the Pokemon are called out.
Akira then holds out another one, "And now it's time to show you another friend of mine."
Then throws his Pokeball, "Come on out, Celestia."
The Pokeball opens and reveals the Pokemon inside. It's a Rapidash, but to Hana and the others shock. It has a different appearance. It has a white coat, pale blue eyes, and a long, curly mane and tail colored in streaks of pastel cyan and pink. Its horn is much longer than that of regular Rapidash and is deep violet in color with a spiraling white line running its length. Its fetlocks are adorned with long pink fur that stores psychic energy, which gives it a swift, airy gait, and it has deep violet hooves. Hana and all the other Pokemon are in awe to see the Rapidash of a different appearance.
"That's a Rapidash… it's a different color," Hana says, surprised.
"Oh Akira, she's so beautiful," Diana says.
"And she looks well trained and healthy," Chase says.
Akira brings out his Phone and shows the Pokemon App.
Dexter says, "Galarian Rapidash. The Unique Horn Galar Form. A Psychic and Fairy Type. Brave and prideful, this Pokémon dashes airily through the forest, its steps aided by the psychic power stored in the fur on its fetlocks."
"I'm guessing you had her before you came to our world," Hana suspects.
"I sure did. I got her when I was in the Highlands, in Scotland. I had an assignment that there were poachers that were capturing Pokemon and selling them at the Black Market," Akira says.
"That's terrible," Hana says.
"Yes. Pokemon like Celestia are very rare and will cost millions to the highest bidder. I found Celestia caught by the poachers and with Hurricane, Judy, Alistar, and Frosty's help, we were able to stop the poachers and free the Pokemon they captured, including Celestia. However, they are able to over power us and Celestia defends us by using Dazzling Gleam and Fairy Wind. That wrapped up the case one in for all. Since Celestia wants to be with me, the Chief didn't mind at all. And that's how Celestia came to be with us," Akira says.
"That's a nice story," Diana says.
"She's very powerful, brave, and beautiful," Hana says.
"Thanks. And I'm sure, Celestia thank you too," Akira says.
Alistair walks to Celestia and says, "Pika Pika," (Hi Auntie Celestia.)
Celestia looks down to see Alistar and kneels down to lick him on the cheek. Alistair hugs Celestia by her muzzle as she lifts it up, allowing the Pikachu to climb on his head.
"She's very sweet," Hana says.
Akira then shows Winnie to Celestia and the others, "Everyone, this is Winnie. She's the newest member of the family."
Akira's Pokemon say hello in their Pokemon Language.
"And everyone, this is Pichu," Diana says, holding the baby Pokemon.
"This is Chinchou," Chase says.
"And this is Meloetta," Hana says.
All the Pokemon talk and they say hello to the newborns. The baby Pokemon can't help but smile to see the Pokemon being friendly.
Later on, the trainers are making food for themselves and the Pokemon. Akira and Diana are in charge of the dinner for the humans. Chase and Hana are making the food for the Pokemon. Meanwhile, the Pokemon are either relaxing, sleeping, or even playing. Latios, Latias, Cubone, Winter, and Meloetta are sleeping on the couch with Little Brother and Little Sister, Luxray, and Lucario watching them, watching them. Judy and Frosty are playing with Alistair and little Winnie. The rest are simply relaxing, or watching the rain coming down. Since there is a television in the living room, they are able to watch some TV.
Akira cuts the carrots as Hana cuts the berries needed for the Pokemon food. Diana is handling the stove to make some hot soup for them and Chase is in charge of making some milk and crushed Pokemon food for the little ones. Diana looks outside to see the rain is still pouring down.
"The rain looks like it's coming down hard. It will be all night or later tomorrow," Diana says.
"I know what you mean. I'm glad the Pokemon are able to relax through all this," Chase says.
"Yeah. Many of the baby Pokemon have fallen asleep because of the rain," Hana says.
"I agree. I think it's good we're able to relax after our travels," Chase says.
"And you know what else is great… the fact that we haven't had any trouble with Team Rocket so far," Diana says.
"Don't be so sure, Team Rocket always knows how to find us or we end up getting caught in one of their schemes," Hana says.
"Yeah. Those jerks are always trying to swipe our Pokemon," Diana says.
"But we're always going to be ready to take out those jerks," Chase says.
"What are the chances that they'll stop going after us," Akira questions.
"Close to never," Hana says.
Soon, the trainers begin laughing.
Sometime later, all the food is ready. Hana and Chase have made Pokemon food, and also put some berries in the mix. Hana also makes some Poffins for desert. All the Pokemon begin to have their dinner and they taste delicious. Since there are baby Pokemon, they are having Moo Moo Milk mixed with berries in bottles. Even the trainers are having their dinner. They are watching TV for a special announcement.
On the screen shows Lillian, the Pokemon announcer.
"Hello all Coordinators and viewers everywhere. In just a few short months, we're going to have a very special Pokemon Contest that is coming to Kanto… the Wallace Cup, and have our very special Judge that bears the Contest's name, Wallace! " Lillian announces.
On the screen it shows a photo of a young man. He has turquoise short hair and eye color. He is wearing a white hat with a green and white outfit and cape with purple pants. He also has a beautiful Milotic as well. Diana becomes awestruck.
She then squeals, "I can't believe it! Wallace is going to be in Kanto and the Wallace Cup is going to be in Kanto!"
"Um, who's Wallace?" Hana asks.
Diana calms down, "That's right, you don't know. Wallace is basically one of the best Trainers in history. Wallace is my hero and seeing his many accomplishments as a Coordinator, I wanted to be a Coordinator just like him."
"Really?" Hana asks.
"Yeah. Wallace is from the Hoenn Region and was once the Sootopolis City Gym leader until he passed it to his mentor, Juan. And against all odds, became the Champion of the Hoenn Pokemon League. He also then became Top Coordinator in Hoenn as well," Diana says.
"Hoenn?" Hana replies.
Then turns to Chase, "Didn't you tell us that you live in the Hoenn Region before you traveled?"
"Yeah in Lilycove City. And well, maybe I should let you know before you find out yourself," Chase says.
"What do you mean?" Akira asks.
"Well um, how can I put it gently. Wallace is actually my uncle," Chase says.
"What?!" Diana exclaims in shock.
"He is?" Hana asks.
"Yeah. He's actually my mother's older brother. He actually taught me a bit about Pokemon battles, but I'm more into being a Watcher and a Breeder," Chase says.
Diana gets in Chase's face, "Why didn't you tell me that your uncle was one of the best Pokemon Coordinators like… EVER!"
Chase becomes uncomfortable and says, "Sorry, I didn't know you made my uncle your model. Plus, well, I didn't want to make a crazy scene that people know I'm Wallace's nephew. You wouldn't believe how crazy some fans get."
"I… I see what you mean," Diana says, blushing and realizes that she is one of those crazy fans.
"So Chase, what was he like?" Akira asks.
"My uncle is a great trainer and a good breeder as well. He always loved his Pokemon with great care," Chase says.
"Does he have other Pokemon?" Diana asks.
"Yes. He has a Luvdisc, Sealeo, Seaking, a Wishcash, and Gyarados, and especially Milotic. Those two have been together since Uncle Wallace was a young boy. And like Diana said, he was a gym leader until he decided to travel to compete in gym battles and contests," Chase says.
"He sounds like a nice man," Hana says.
"He sure is. In fact, my sister is the one who gave him his Elizabeth's egg," Chase says.
"Elizabeth?" Akira asks.
"That's the name of his Luvdisc," Chase says.
"I remember seeing her. Luvdisc is very pretty, especially her performance at the appeals round," Diana says.
"I sure love to have a battle with him," Hana says.
"Maybe we can get the chance when the Wallace Cup comes up," Diana says.
On the news, Lillian says, "Our location for our fabulous Wallace Cup is at the nice area of Sunny Town. And the Wallace Cup winner will receive the Aqua Ribbon. Stay Tune everyone and Coordinators make sure you train for this spectacular contest."
Then the TV changes to a Pokemon TV show.
Hana turns to Diana, "I'll bet you like to enter in the Wallace Cup huh?"
"You know it. And maybe I can meet Wallace," Diana says.
"Sunny Town is kind of far, but I think we can make a stop during our journey," Akira says.
"I agree. I'm sure Uncle Wallace will like to see a Coordinator like you in the contest," Chase says.
Diana smiles, "Thanks Chase."
The humans and Pokemon continue to have their dinner until they're done. Soon, the humans are doing the dishes while the Pokemon is relaxing or playing and having a good dinner. Little Winnie looks around with curiosity and walks over to Akira's backpack. Curious, Winnie then begins to look through the backpack.
Akira puts some of the dishes away to notice Winnie digging into his backpack.
Akira chuckles and says, "Uh, Winnie… what are y-"
Just then, Akira, Hana, and Diana heard a sucking noise. Winnie climbs out of Akira's backpack, revealing where that sucking noise came from Winnie... has a pacifier in her mouth. She smiles to have the pacifier with glee
"Aww! That's so cute," Hana says with a smile.
Diana giggles and asks, "Akira… what's with that pacifier in your backpack?"
"It used to be Alistair's. I held onto it and some of his old toys in case I was to get married and have a human baby." Akira says.
Akira looks back at Winnie, who is somehow enjoying the pacifier she has found in Akira's backpack.
"On the one hand…" realized Akira.
Then says, "I think it suits Winnie quite well."
"I have to agree. She seems to like it," Chase says.
Alistair smiles to see that his old pacifier is put to good use for Winnie. Akira walks over to Winnie and picks her up to hold the baby. Then he begins to rock her. Winnie smiles as she begins to fall asleep.
"Awww!" The girls happily reply.
Later in the night, everyone sleeps in their beds. Akira is sleeping with Alistair and little Winnie and the two Pokemon are happy. Hana is sleeping with Pikachu, Cubone, Meloetta, and Winter. Diana has Ember and Pichu sleeping with her. Finally, Chase has Chinchou sleeping with him as well. They are all very happy.
The next day, after packing their things, the group begin to make their way to Silver Town. Of course, they make sure their new baby Pokemon and the rest are put in their Pokeballs. Of course, they decide to have some fun along the way to the next town. Hana and Akira call out to Luxray and Celestia.
Hana pets Luxray, "Alright Luxray, are you ready to get some exercise."
"Luxray," (You bet.) Luxray says.
"You ready to race, girl?" Akira asks, petting Celestia.
Celestia replies by licking Akira on his cheek.
Diana smiles, "This is going to be fun."
"Yeah. I never rode on a Galarian Rapidash before," Chase says.
Soon, the group begins to race on the Pokemon. Hana, Diana, Pikachu, and Ember ride on Luxray. Akira, Alistair, Winnie, and Chase are riding on Celestia. They all laugh and scream as they ride on the Pokemon. Since they have new additions to their families, they'll be more lively. And so they continue to race off to Silver Town to Diana's next contest. As the Journey Continues.
