Episode 46: The Legend of Dratini
Hana and her friends continue to travel down the road to reach the Safari Park. It sure is a nice and beautiful day, that they also like to have a picnic while in the Safari Zone. Soon, they arrive at the Safari Zone Gate and a building next to it. They suspect this is where they need to go to get the items they need.
Hana happily says, "We're finally at the Safari Zone. I can't wait to check out what's inside."
"Yeah. I have to wonder what kind of Pokemon is living there. I'll bet it will be fun to see them," Diana says, holding a picnic basket.
"And it sure turned out to be a nice day," Chase says.
"Yeah. It's a good thing we agreed to have a picnic in the Safari Zone," Akira says.
"Pikachu," (Yeah.) Alistair agrees.
Winnie nods her head as her pacifier is in her mouth.
"Well then, let's go inside and get ready to catch Pokemon, and have some fun," Hana says.
"Pika," (I agree.)
The group walks inside to meet with an old man who has gray color hair. He wears a blue shirt with a black tie, a brown vest with matching shoes, and peach color pants. However, Hana can sense the man doesn't seem too happy, and it's obvious because of the frown on his face.
"Hello sir. My friends and I would like to go to the Safari Zone," Hana says.
The man looks at the group with a frown and says, "I am Kaiser, the warden here at the Safari Zone."
"Nice to meet you," Diana says.
"Is it just the four of you?" The man, Kaiser asks.
"Yep. And of course, my Pikachu, Alistair, and little Winnie too," Hana says with a smile.
Kaiser simply nods his head and turns his head away as he gathers the supplies. The group looks at each other with skeptic expressions. Then Kaiser brings out a bucket that has Safari Balls and a fishing rod.
"Wow! These are Safari Zone balls? I have never seen them before," Hana says.
"These Safari balls and this fishing rod are all you can use in the Safari Zone. No other Pokeballs are permitted," Kaiser says.
"Right," Akira says, and takes the bucket.
Diana looks to notice something, "Hey, isn't this a Dratini?"
"Really?" Chase asks as he and the others walk over.
They look at the photo to see a small Pokemon. It's a serpentine Pokémon with a blue body and a white underside. It has white, three-pronged fins on the sides of its head and a white bump on its forehead. Above its round, white snout are oval, purple eyes. It also has a four pointed star on it's white bump.
"It is. It's so cute," Hana says.
"Isn't that Kaiser in the photo with it?" Akira replies.
"He looks so young, so it must have been a long time ago when this photo was taken," Diana says.
"I wonder if that Dratini is still in the Safari Zone," Chase replies.
"Maybe, but it's probably a Dragonite at this time," Hana says.
"Maybe. This photo was taken a long time ago," Diana says.
Suddenly, Kaiser takes the photo calmly and says, "Excuse me."
Then walks inside the back room with the photo.
"Wonder what was that about?" Diana asks.
"I don't know, but… he seems to have deep sadness in his eyes. I think it has something to do with that Dratini," Hana suspects, looking concerned.
"He seems to be a bit defenside and was acting suspicious of us," Akira says.
"You know, I remember hearing rumors that a Dartini was actually spotted in this Safari Zone. I'm guessing the rumors must be true, but I heard something bad happened after word got out," Chase says.
Hana then says, "Let's asks Professor Oak to see if he knows anything."
In the room, Kaiser is holding the old photo of himself and the Dratini.
He says in deep sadness, "Dratini… you won't be disturved ever again."
He then looks out from the porch to see the Safari Zone. Inside, Hana calls Professor Oak and asks him about Kaiser and the Dratini.
Professor Oak explains, "I know Kaiser very well. And it was Kaiser himself who discovered the Legendary Dratini thirty years ago. But afterwards, trainers who had heard rumors about it suddenly started intruding, and got every Pokemon they could find. As a result, the Safari Zone ended up completely wrecked. After that, the Safari Zone's rule to use thirty Safari balls was established."
"So that's what happened," Diana says, sadly.
"So then, what happened to the Dratini Kaiser knew?" Hana asks.
"In the end, it was never found. But a photo remains. Even I don't know where it really is. After all, it's a legendary Pokemon," Professor Oak says.
Hana sadly says, "I'll bet Kaiser and that Dratini were really close. Maybe that's the reason why he took the photo and looks suspicious towards us."
"He was worried that we might try to capture his Dratini friend. And I'll be he'd tell anyone that it's not around," Chase says.
"In other words, Kaiser wants to protect Dratini and doesn't want anyone to catch it," Hana says.
"Then we just won't. I'm sure it's what Kaiser wants," Akira says.
"Right. Let's go to the Safari Zone and explore," Hana says.
"And catch some Pokemon," Diana happily says.
Unknown to the group, Team Rocket is spying on them from the roof, and has heard their conversation through the window?"
"Did you hear that?" Jessie asks.
"Yes. A Dratini is right here, right now," James says.
Meowth happily says, "If we get a Legendary Pokemon, there'll be coins thrown before us."
"I won't be satisfied with that alone," Jessie says.
Then stands up and points to the Safari Zone, "We'll be taking all the Pokemon, here in the Safari Zone."
"Brilliant idea, Jessie," James says.
"You operate far higher on the scale of villainy!" Meowth says.
At the front gate, Kaiser opens them and gives Hana and her friends access to the Safari Zone.
Hana turns to Kaiser, "Okay, we'll be heading off."
"Once you use all the Safari Balls, return here immediately," Kaiser says.
"Okay," The group replies.
Suddenly, they hear someone say, "Hey there, twerps!"
The gang and Kaiser look up to see Team Rocket on the Safari Zone sign.
"Team Rocket!" Hana says, shocked.
Kaiser angrily says, "Hey, what are you doing there? Get down there now!"
"We'll be getting down soon, so just wait a bit," Jessie says.
"For now, there's something we must do," James says.
And with that, Team Rocket begins their motto.
Jessie:
To protect the world from devastation.
James:
To unite all peoples within our nation.
Jessie:
To denounce the evils of truth and love.
James:
To extend our reach to the stars above.
Jessie:
Jessie.
James:
James.
Hana and the others groan with annoyed expressions.
Jessie:
Team Rocket blast off at the speed of light.
Hana then whispers to Pikachu, and Pikachu smiles and releases sparks from his cheeks
James:
Surrender now or prepare to fight.
Meowth:
Meowth, that's right.
Hana says, "Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!"
Team Rocket turns their heads and Pikachu launches his Thunderbolt. With the explosion, Team Rocket is sent flying in the air.
They soon scream, "We're blasting off too soon!"
Soon, Team Rocket is gone.
"Nice job, Hana. you too, Pikachu," Chase says.
"Pikachu," (Thank you.) Pikachu says.
"That should get them off our backs for a while," Hana says.
"So who were those people?" Kaiser calmly asks.
"They're a group of bad guys known as Team Rocket. Knowing them, they're probably after Dratini and all the Pokemon in the Safari Zone," Akira says.
Hana then says, "Professor Oak told us what happened and we'll make sure Dratini is safe if we do it."
Kaiser calmly says, "I see. Just remember the roles, return after you use all your Safari Balls."
"We will," Hana says.
Diana says, "And watch out for Team Rocket. Knowing those three, they might come back to try another one of their schemes."
Sometime later, Hana and her friends reach the Safari Zone. They soon divide the Safari Balls from the basket. Chase, Diana, and Akira get seven Safari Balls, and Hana gets nine. Since Akira, Hana, and Chase have fishing rods, Diana gets the Safari Zone's rod. Of course, using their own Pokemon in the park to capture Pokemon is not allowed.
"This place looks amazing," Hana says.
"Yeah. It's a great place for Pokemon to live," Chase says.
"And I think I see one now," Diana points out.
The group turns their heads to see a Pokemon. It's a black, zebra-like Pokémon with thick, double-pointed white stripes on its neck, chest, back, and hind legs. It has a rounded muzzle with a large, dark nose and oval, blue eyes with yellow scleras. On top of its head are short, triangular ears with blue insides. Below the knees, its legs are white with black hooves. Its tail is stubby, white, and has two points. Running up its neck is a spiky, white mane, which culminates at the front in a long extension that resembles a lightning bolt.
"It's a Bliztle. They are native found in the Unova Region," Chase says.
Hana brings out her Pokedex and says, "Blitzle, the Electrified Pokémon. When thunderclouds cover the sky, it will appear. It can catch lightning with its mane and store the electricity."
"Guess we can find other Pokemon from other Regions too," Hana says.
Diana then brings out one of her Safari balls, "And I'm catching it."
"Safari Ball, go!" Diana calls out and throws the Safari Ball.
The Safri Ball hits the Blitzle and it goes inside. With a few shakes, the Safri Ball clicks and Diana' catch is a success.
"Great job, Diana," Hana says.
"Yeah. A successful catch," Chase says.
Suddenly, something pecks on his head. Chase turns his head to find another Pokemon. It's a two-headed, bipedal avian Pokémon. Each head has a long sharp beak and two beady black eyes. It has a bristly, down-like covering of brown feathers on its body and both heads. A male has black flexible necks, whereas a female has brown necks; both genders have brown legs. Each foot has four digits ending in a sharp claw.
"Aww. It's a Doduo," Hana says.
Hana brings out her Pokedex and Dexter says, "Doduo, the Twin Bird Pokémon. Its short wings make flying difficult. Instead, this Pokémon runs at high speed on developed legs."
Before Chase can act, Doduo presses the Safari Ball and goes inside, and it clicks in seconds.
"Looks like you got your first Safari Pokemon," Akira says.
Hana giggles, "More like it chose you."
The group then begins to laugh with smiles on their faces. After having a good laugh, the group then begins to search for more Pokemon. This time, they find a group of Tauros.
"Wow! There are so many of them," Diana says.
Hana brings out a Safari Ball, "And I plan to catch one."
Hana then throws her Safari Ball and it hits one of the Tauros. Soon, Hana catches the Tauros.
"I got one," Hana cheers.
The group continues to travel and see what Pokemon they can catch. The group hide behind the bushes to see a Scyther that is practicing its fighting skills. Akira tries to look in his backpack, but he isn't able to find his phone and tablet.
"Still can't find them?" Hana asks.
"No. I can't find it anywhere," Akira says.
Hana brings out her Pokedex, "I'll check this Pokemon out."
Dexter says, "Scyther, the Mantis Pokémon. It leaps out of tall grass and slices prey with its scythes. The movement looks like that of a ninja."
Akira then sneaks up to it and then throws the Safari Ball at it. Soon, Scyther is caught in the Safari Ball.
"That was easy," Akira says.
"Let's go find some more Pokemon to catch," Diana says.
The gang soon begin to travel around the park to find more Pokemon to catch. Hana catches a male and female Lilito, which are usually found in the Kalos Region. She then catches a Rhydon that has an item called a Protector. Diana also catches a Girafarig, Pidove, Skitty, and a female Combee. Chase ends up catching a Phanpy, Pinsir, and Exeggcute. Akira also catches a Purrloin, Shinx, and a Pansage.
Back at the gate, Team Rocket is able to return in a short amount of time, and knocks out Kaiser. They look through some of the papers and stuff to get an idea where to find Dratini.
Meowth holds some papers, "Man, this guy has a lot of stuff in here."
"Well, there is definitely proof that there is a Dratini, judging by the photo," Jessie says, holding the picture.
James looks around the desk and notices something on the desk. He takes the paper off the desk and notices something that has his attention.
James turns to the others, "Jessie, Meowth, look what I just found."
"What is it?" Meowth asks, walking over.
Jessie looks at the paper and begins to smile, "Well, I think we just have an idea where Dratini is."
Back in the Safari Zone, the gang decides that it's time for them to find Pokemon in the water. Hana ties a Pikachu lure to her fishing line. Chase does the same with a Grovyle lure. Akira has a Cinderace Lure.
Hana then passes Diana a Seel lure, "Here Diana, you can use this."
"Thanks Hana," Diana says, and takes the lure.
She then ties it to the finishing line.
"Alright everyone, ready to go fishing?" Chase asks.
"Ready," The girls answer.
The gang then throws their fishing pole back and then swings forward to cast their rods. Soon, they all land in the water.
Hana sighs, "This is kind of nice."
"Yeah. A good way to relax," Chase says.
Suddenly, Diana feels her fishing line being poled.
"I got a bite," Diana says, and springs into action.
Diana pulls the rode as hard as she can. She pulls it until a Pokemon comes out. The Pokemon is a small fish Pokémon with an ellipsoid body. The bottom half of its body is light-blue while the top half is black, and a purple stripe. It has small blue pectoral fins, two black oval-shaped dorsal fins and purple eyes. And a caudal fins that resemble a pair of blue butterfly wings with purple spots.
"It's a Finneon," Chase says.
Diana throws her Safari Ball, "And there!"
Diana throws the Safari Ball and it hits the Finneon. Soon, Finneon is caught in Diana's Safari Ball.
Hana picks up her Safari Ball and says, "Got it."
Diana brings out her Pokedex, and Dexter says, "Finneon, the Wingfish Pokemon. After long exposure to sunlight, the patterns on its tail fins shine vividly when darkness arrives."
"Sounds pretty," Hana says.
Chas then pulls his Fishing Rod, "I got a bite too."
Hana feels her rod pulling as well, "I got one too."
They both pull their fishing line at the same time to see they both have a Pokemon.
On Hana's fishing line is a pink Pokémon that resembles a cross between a salamander and a hippopotamus. It has vacant eyes that never seem focused, curled ears, and a rounded, tan muzzle. It has four legs, each of which ends in a single white claw. Its long, tapering tail has a white tip.
On Chase fishing line is a sea dwelling Pokémon with a spherical body and a flat, paddle-shaped tail. The upper half of its body is dark teal and the lower half is very light yellow. Its tail is tall and thin with a dark teal outline, light yellow inside, and two dark teal dots in the center. Its eyes are even with its body, and are always seen slanted angrily. Below its eyes are its puffy pink lips. All around its body are sharp, conical spikes.
Hana says, surprised, "It's a Slowpoke!"
"A Qwilfish!" Chase says.
They both throw their Safari Ball and they catch the Pokemon in the matter of seconds.
And now, Akira's fishing rod begins to be pulled as well.
Akira grabs on to his rod, "I got one too."
Akira tries to pull the rod, but the line is pulling him instead.
"Whoa! Seems I caught a big one!" Akira says.
"We'll help you," Hana says, and grabs the rob.
Chase, and Diana join in too. They pull the rod with all their might and are able to pull the Pokemon to them. Soon, they end up seeing a Gyarados on the fishing line. The group screams in shock to see the Pokemon, but Akira sees his chance and throws the Pokeball at it. Gyarados goes inside and soon, it's caught as well.
"What was too close," Chase says.
"That really scared us," Diana says.
"Let's head to another spot before anything else jumps at us," Akira says.
The group nods their heads and begins to head somewhere else.
Meanwhile, Kaiser is able to regain consciousness and sees that his office is wrecked. Seeing the photo on the ground, he fears that Team Rocket is going to go after Dratini. With a serious expression, he knows where they're heading.
Along the way, Hana and her friends are able to catch more pokemon. Diana and Hana both caught Clamperl. Hana also catches a Cufant, and a Cottonee. Akira catches a Bagon and a Buizel. Chase also catches a blue Shellos, and a Murkrow.
The group decides that since most of them use their Safari Balls, it's a good idea to get some rest and have their picnic lunch. Hana and the others soon find themselves at a large lake that has spike rocks and a beautiful glow, that it's a perfect place to have their lunch. They set up the picnic area and eat the sandwiches inside.
Diana says with a smile, "This tastes good.
"I know. And it's a great place to have lunch," Hana says.
"I agree. It's nice and relaxing here. I wonder if this is part of the Safari Zone," Akira says, as he feeds Winnie her bottle.
"Probably is," Chase says.
Pikchu and Alistair continue to have their lunch, until they hear something coming from the water.
Alistair turns his head, "Pika?" (What's that?)
Pikachu notices, "Pikachu," (Look over there.)
What Pikachu and Alistair see is a little Dratini that is watching them from a short distance.
Hana turns her head, "What is it Pikachu?"
Hana looks to where Pikachu is looking and is surprised to see the little Dratini.
"It's Dratini," Hana says, surprised.
Diana and the others quickly turn their heads and are surprised to see the legendary Pokemon itself.
"Wow! It is a real Dratini," Chase says.
"It's cute," Diana says.
Soon, Dratini begins to swim towards them with curiosity.
"I wonder if it's the same one Kaiser told us about?" Diana asks.
"I don't think so. The one from the photo has a star on it's white bump. This one doesn't have one at all," Hana says.
"You're right. So this one is a different Dratini," Diana says.
Then Dratini stops at the front of the shore and looks at them with curiosity.
"You think it's hungry?" Chase asks.
"Hey kids!" Someone calls out.
The group turns their heads to see Kaiser running to them.
"It's Kaiser," Hana says.
"I wonder what's going on," Diana says.
Kaiser says, "It's good that I found you. Those crooks came back and knocked me out. They're after Dratini and the other Pokemon.
Suddenly, someone says, "That's right."
The group turns their heads to see Team Rocket.
"Team Rocket," Hana angrily says.
"Not you crooks again!" Chase says.
Diana picks up the little Dratini, "We're not letting you take this Dratini, it belongs here."
"Sorry, but we're not just here for Dratini, but for all the Pokemon, including yours," Jessie says.
James then holds out a dynamite that has a timer, "And this detonator is going to help us. When it explodes, the Pokemon will be knocked out."
"Then they're ours for the taking," Meowth says.
The group gasps in shock. Before they can react, James throws the bomb into the water.
"Oh no! If it explodes, the Pokemon will get knocked out!" Diana says, frightened.
Before they can react, Kaiser jumps into the water, and Hana dives in as well.
"Hana!" Akira calls out.
Hana then brings out her Pokeballs and calls out Popplio and Squirtle. Somewhere in the water, Kaiser is swimming deeper and deeper into the sea to find the bomb.
Kaiser thinks, "Where's the bomb? I have to hurry and go for a breath."
Suddenly, Hana is swimming by as she holds on to Popplio, and Squirtle swims beside her.
Hana turns to Squirtle, "Squirtle take Kaiser and go on ahead for me."
Squirtle answers, "Squirtle." (Roger.)
Squrtile swims to Kaiser and begins to swim him back to the surface. Kaiser turns his head in concern. Meanwhile, Hana and Popplio continue to swim down into the water.
"I need to find that bomb. Kaiser worked so hard to make sure the Pokemon are protected, especially Dratini," Hana thinks.
Soon, Hana and Popplio are able to find the Bomb. Hana grabs it and she along with Popplio are beginning to swim back up. But Hana and Popplio are running out of time, the counter continues to countdown until it reaches zero.
Hana thinks, "We need to hurry and get the bomb out of the water."
Back at the surface, Diana and the others begin to grow worried until Kaiser and Squirtle reach the surface.
"Kaiser, where's Hana?" Chase asks.
Kaiser takes a breather and says, "She went to grab the bomb on her own."
The group becomes shocked.
Down under the sea, Hana and Popplio swim back to the surface as fast as they can. Hana is starting to run out of air and unable to support herself any longer.
At a last resort, Hana passes the bomb to Popplio, "Popplio, take the bomb. Hurry."
Soon, Hana begins to lose consciousness. Popplio panics and makes a balloon with her nose. She then smiles down and grabs Hana with her teeth. Thenc watches the bubble with the bomb on the nose. Popplio continues to swim back up with Hana and the bomb at hold. She refuses to let her trainer drown and let the bomb explode. Suddenly, Popplio begins to glow as an unidentified Pokemon begins to swim towards them.
Back on the surface, a rain storm pours in.
"The weather just changed all of the sudden," James says.
"To a major storm," Jessie adds.
Soon, thunder clashes in the sky, and the waves are getting rough.
"The lake is…" Chase says, shocked.
Soon, a whirlpool begins to appear. Suddenly, a bright light appears in the center of the whirlpool.
Meowth asks, "What's that?"
Suddenly, something rises from the water.
"Th-that's…" Kaiser says, shocked.
The light disappears to reveal a Pokemon floating in the sky. It's a long, serpentine Pokémon with sky blue scales and a white underside. It has a rounded snout, oval purple eyes, and a small, white horn on its forehead. On each side of its head is a small, stylized wing, which is white and curves into a swirl at the base. Three blue, crystal orbs adorn its body: one on its neck and two on its tail. And they see Hana on it's back.
Kaiser says, "It's the Legendary Pokemon, Dragonair.
Diana brings out her Pokedex and Dexter says, "Dragonair, the Dragon Pokémon. A Legendary Pokémon that can freely make it rain or snow. It's said to be able to fly, even though it doesn't have wings."
On the back, Hana groans as she gains back her consciousness. She soon finds herself on the Dragonair's hack and is in the air. She looks down to see the bomb being held by another Pokemon.
The Pokemon is a light blue, pinniped Pokémon with three ruffle-like growths around its body. The first ruffle is just under its front flippers, while the last is shortly before the tail. The ruffles alternate white and pale blue. Its long ears are made up of three segments that lighten and increase in size towards the tip; the first segment is ovoid, while the latter two are spherical. It has a long, conical snout with a white tip, a spherical pink nose, and large dark eyes with pinkish pupils. Its front flippers are much longer than its tail flippers, although both have white tips. There are three digits on the front flippers.
Hana looks at the Pokemon carefully and becomes surprised to see what this Pokemon is.
"Po-Popplio?" Hana asks.
"Brionne Bri Bri Brionne," (It's me, though not Popplio anymore.) The Pokemon says.
"It is you… you evolved," Hana says, amazed.
She takes out her Pokedex, and Dexter says, "Brionne, the Pop Star Pokémon. A skillful dancer, it creates a sequence of water balloons as it dances, and briskly bombards its enemies."
Hana hugs her new Brionne, "Thank you."
Then turns her head, "Hey Team Rocket. Here's your bomb back."
Hana tosses the bomb down and Jessie catches it. Soon, the bomb reaches zero and explodes, sending Team Rocket flying.
Team Rocket screams, "We're blasting off again!"
Once Team Rocket is gone, Diana puts Dratini in the water and she struggles with the Dragonair with glee. Hana and Brionne return on land to see the others. Kaiser then walks to Dragonair with astonishment.
Kaiser then asks, "Can you be…?"
Kaiser then remembers when he's young and meets the Dratini with the star mark on its bump. He promises to make sure Dratini lives in peace, and will live up to that promise. Seeing the Dragonair and how it has the same mark, Kaiser realizes that this Dragonair is his old friend, and Dragonair recognizes it too.
Kaiser says with a smile, "I knew it. You're the one from back then."
Soon the two embrace each other with tears from their eyes.
"You've grown up so splendidly," Kaiser says.
Then Dratini swims up to Kaiser.
Kaiser then realizes, "Could this Dratini be your child?"
Dragonair answers with a yes. Hana and her friends smile to see the happy reunion Kaiser has with Dragonair.
After that, they return to the Safari Zone Warden building and talk to Professor Oak.
"Don't worry Professor, we won't tell anyone about Dragonair and her baby," Hana says.
"It would be bad if the Safari Zone got wrecked again like it did in the past," Diana says.
"You've all grown up pretty well yourselves. By the way Hana, give my congrats to Brionne for me," The professor says.
"I will. I hope my new Pokemon won't give you trouble," Hana says.
"I'm sure we'll have a good time. I'll see you again," Professor Oak says, and hangs up.
Just then, Kaiser walks to them with an Eggubator. Inside of it has a Pokemon Egg. The egg is light blue on top and white at the bottom with 2 white spots on the side.
Hana turns to him and asks, "Hey Kaiser, what you got there?"
"It's a Pokemon Egg. It's a… a present from Dragonair. And I believe I can trust you to take good care of it," Kaiser says.
"Really? Is she sure? Hana asks.
"Dragonair is sure of it, so I'm trusting it, and trusting you to take care of it," Kaiser says.
Hana smiles and says, "Thanks Kaiser."
Hana takes the Eggubator and turns to Pikachu with a smile.
Soon, Hana and her friends leave the Safari Zone as they say goodbye to Kaiser. As they leave, Dragonair and Dratini are floating in the air as they see the group of friends head off on their next adventure.
