"So errm, tell me about yourself"
she asked, struggling to get the words out. Her arm lay across her chest gripping onto the opposite arms elbow tightly. Her gaze suddenly darting to the floor as she regretted asking such a personal question.
He looked at her a smile appearing on his lips as in took in her cheeks now with a splash of pink upon them.
"So I tell you what, I'll tell you anything you want in return for an answer to a question that you cannot avoid"
He chuckled slightly expecting a negative response from the blonde standing beside him. She stopped walking her face returning his confused gaze. Her pale emotionless face staring at him like she was trying to work something out.
"what question?" came a voice that carried with it a certain heir of authority.
"Well I guess you will have to agree and find out" his eyes widening, daring her to agree to his terms.
"Fine, but I want to know everything" her expression now having a slightly more stern look.
He didn't show it externally but he was genuinely shocked that she had agreed to his request, she wasn't the type of person to jump into such things without first knowing the stakes, and he could ask her anything. It gave him pause that now maybe the question he was going to ask her maybe wasn't what he should ask her. I mean he could ask her anything and she would have to answer it, he had to rethink what could be one of the only times he ever got to ask her... anything.
"Fine, what do you want to know about me? He asked while beginning to walk along the well trodden road again.
"Everything" the blond said as she also began to walk beside him again.
"Very well your Majesty, but don't forget that you asked for this, my life hasn't exactly been a bed of roses"
He ran a hand through his unkempt dark hair as he pondered where to begin.
"I told you to use my name" came a now timid voice
"I know you did, but It's hard to call you by it, I'll be honest I shouldn't really be out going for a strole with the Queen let alone being able to call her by her name. It's a little... how to put it, above my station?" a slight sigh leaving him.
She could feel a slight anger building within her as her eyes narrowed ever so slightly. " And what do you mean by that?" she tried to hide the venom in her voice but she didn't hide it all as she spat back.
They continued to walk, the cool summer breeze rustling the trees about them. There was not a soul around, and he hadn't realised that they hadn't seen anyone else in quite a while. The dirt road stretching out in front of them, the only signs of civilization being the hoof prints and carriage tracks the lined the road below them.
"I meant no disrespect to yourself your Majesty, with all due respect you are royalty, and here I am, well... I'm me, not really anybody to be totally honest, just a regular run of the mill sell sword, someone who should be serving royalty, not having a day out walking along side someone of your title." He found himself rambling, he had caught himself doing whenever he was around her, he never really got nervous, only when he was talking to the Queen. It wasn't as if it was that she was Queen, it was something else something deeper.
"I'll tell you this only once Simon, who I choose to be around and who I choose to... go on a 'strole' with is my choice, I do not care about 'station' and you know this, so call me by my name please, and besides I enjoy your company, there isn't anything artificial with you, I like honesty and I enjoy..." she stopped talking as she chose her next words carefully, trying her hardest to speak them aloud. "I enjoy being around y...you" she couldn't find the courage to say what she really wanted to say , so this would have to suffice for the time being. Her cheeks began to redden as the blood rushed to them.
It took all of his willpower to not show how affected he was by her words, had she just told him that she enjoyed being around him, he couldn't comprehend why someone as beautiful and intelligent as her would enjoy being around someone as unassuming as himself. "Thank you your Majesty, that means a lot to me, even if it's hard for me to believe... I enjoy your company as well, more than you could know." A smile started to appear on his lips as he felt a warmth in his chest he hadn't felt in a very long time.
"So shall we get started, its gonna take a while to tell you my past, and you may not like my company after, so let get started your Maj... Elsa"
