Episode 56: Snow Way Out
As Hana and her friends continue their journey, they begin to make their way towards a mountain. The mountain seems to be the only way to get their next destination. However, when they arrive at the mountain, they are shocked to see that the mountain is covered in snow.
"Oh my. This isn't a hill. We'd need a ski lift to get up this thing," Diana says.
"Are you sure this is the only way to get to the next town?" Hana asks.
Chase looks at the map, "According to the map, if we go over this mountain, then we'll be able to get to the next down. I didn't think it would be covered in snow."
"Well then. I guess it's best we put on our snow gear and start climbing," Akira says.
With that, Hana and the others dressed in their snow gear. Akira makes sure Shippo, Winnie and Alistair are dressed warm and in his backpack. Soon, they begin to climb up the mountain. The mountain is proven to be a bigger challenge than they thought. They've been climbing for a while, and not sure how much longer they need to climb.
Diana shivers, "It's freezing out here. I wonder how much longer until we get over this thing."
"According to the map, we should be pretty close to the top," Chase says, looking at the map and compass.
Suddenly, notices that the needle of his compass is circling around and around.
"That's weird," Chase says.
"What's weird?" Hana asks.
"The compass is going crazy. This mountain must have so much iron that it's throwing the needle off," Chase says.
The three friends are shocked to hear this.
"If the compass doesn't work, how are we going to find our way?" Diana asks.
Chase looks up, "Now don't panic. If the sun's up there about three o' clock.."
Then looks at his map, "According to my calculations… we're lost?"
The three groan to hear the news.
"Can't believe we got ourselves lost again," Akira says.
Suddenly, Hana has an idea, "I know, Maybe Delibird can help us. He can withstand the cold and help us find out which way to go."
"Good idea," Chase says, and calls out Delibird.
Soon, Delibird comes out of his Pokeball.
"Delibird, can you find a trail that will lead us off the mountain?" Chase asks.
"Delibird," (Okay.) Delibird says.
He then flies in the air and high above the cliffs. He flies high until he can see the snow covered trees and past it, are trees and mountains not covered in snow. Seeing the way to go, Delibird flies back.
"Did you find the way?" Chase asks.
"Deli Deli Delibird," (We have to go this way.) Delibrid says, pointing to the direction.
Hana says, "Delibrid says it's this way."
Diana and the boys nod their heads and begin to walk down the trail. Unknown to the group, something is flying towards the mountain, and it has blue feathers that shimmers at the tail. Meanwhile, on the other side of the mountain, Team Rocket has been following the group again. Meowth and James are hugging each other because they are freezing.
"Why'd they come to the cold way? I feel like a cat-sicle," Meowth says, shivering.
"I hate snow as much as you do," James says.
Then turns his head, "But she loves it."
Indeed, Jessie is singing as she is dancing around the snow. She is very happy to be in the snow.
Confused, James asks, "Jessie, you don't actually like this frozen stuff?"
"I love it! It brings back delicious memories!" Jessie happily says.
The snow's making her a little flakey," Meowth replies.
Jessie stops singing and says, "Huh? I'm totally serious. Don't tell me that you've never eaten a snow-gasbord."
Confused, James asks, "What is a…?"
"Snow-gasbord?" Meowth adds.
"Snow-gasbord, one of the few cherished memories of my otherwise wretched childhood," Jessie says.
Jessie remembers when she's a little girl, her mother made her food of her favorite dishes, which are practically made with snow. Jessie really loves the snow made food and is able to eat all of them.
Jessie happily sighs and says, "There's nothing like 'snow-m- cooking."
James shakes his head in shock, "I can't believe what I'm hearing."
"You must be joking. You mean your mother actually made meals out of snow?" Meowth adds.
"We had to make due. Besides, snow food is low in fat and helped me maintain my fabulous figure," Jessie says.
James and Meowth look at Jessie looking dumbfounded.
Then Jessie says, "A snow-roll with just a dash of soy sauce. Mmm. There's nothing like it," Jessie says with glee.
Then says, "Of course, only freshly fallen snow will do."
James and Meowth think differently.
"Ooh, sounds awful," James comments.
"Yeah, but at least it's all natural," Meowth says,
"Let's get going before the sun sets," James says.
Then points his finger, "We can head them off if we use the balloon."
Soon, the group reached the Hot Air Balloon.
"Let's make like snow and drift," Jessie says.
Then James laughs. Soon, they begin their Motto.
Jessie:
To protect the world from devastation!
James:
To unite all peoples within our nation.
Jessie:
To denounce the evils of truth and love!
James:
To extend our reaches to the stars above.
Jessie:
Jessie!
James:
James.
Jessie:
Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light.
James:
Surrender
Suddenly, Meowth screams in a kind of panic.
Jessie grabs Meowth and says, "Stop interrupting, Meowth.
"We're getting to the best part," James adds.
Meowth screams, "But the balloon is drifting away!"
Jessie and James look up to see the balloon is drifting away. They all scream and begin to chase after the balloon as they fly away. They continue to chase the balloon as they scream and panic. Time has gone by, and dark clouds begin to roll into the sky. Soon, Hana and the others are able to reach a trail and walk down it to find the other side.
"We've been walking all day and we're not even at the top," Chase says.
"It must be higher than we thought," Diana says.
Suddenly, snow begins to fall from the sky.
"Pika?" (Snow?) Pikachu says, confused.
"Hey. It's snowing," Akira says.
"Oh no. It was clear just a second ago," Diana says, worried.
"The weather in these mountains is totally unpredictable," Chase replies
"We better get moving fast before the sun goes down," Hana says.
Then begins to walk ahead, "Come on."
"Pika," (Let's go.) Pikachu says.
Hana and her friends continue to walk down the trail to reach the other side before the sun goes down. Meanwhile, Team Rocket is tired because they chase the balloon, but they're unable to get to it.
James says, "We're sunk. All of our food and supplies are on that balloon."
"Yeah, and it's starting to snow," Meowth adds.
"I'm getting hungry," James says, depressed.
Jessie is staring at the snow and then an idea hits her.
"James. Meowth," Jessie says, making her teammates turn their heads to her.
"What is it, Jessie?" James asks
"Do you have a plan to get us out of here?" Meowth asks.
"I can make snow-rolls" Jessie says.
James and Meowth fall down dumbfound.
"Snow-rolls?" Meowth asks.
"I think I need something a little bit more substantial," James says.
"There's some soy sauce in that balloon and we have to get it. I can't make snow-rolls mama's way without soy sauce! Let's go!" Jessie angrily says, and marches after the balloon.
James and Meowth decide to simply follow.
Somewhere on the mountain, Hana and her friends are traveling through the snow that has turned into a blizzard in a matter of seconds.
"Come on guys, we need to keep going," Hana calls out.
"But I'm too frozen to go any further!" Diana calls out.
"I think we better stop and set up camp for the night!" Chase calls out.
"You might be right. It will be best to find a cave and we can set up camp there," Hana says.
"Good idea. This storm is starting to get dangerous," Akira says.
"Then let's start digging a cave and we can set up camp for the night," Hana says.
Suddenly, the blizzard's wind begins to pick up so hard that Hana is knocked down and Pikachu falls out of her arms. Soon, Pikachu is swift away by the wind as he calls out to Hana.
Hana cries out, "Pikachu!"
Hana runs ahead as she cries out, "Pikachu!"
"Wait!" Hana!" Diana cries out.
"Wait. We need to stay here. We'll get lost out there," Akira says.
Soon, the wind continues to blow harder. Hana hurries through the blizzard as she tries to find her little buddy.
Hana calls out, "Pikachu! Pikachu, where are you! Pikachu, I'm here! Pikachu!"
Hana continues to walk through the snow as she calls out, "Pikachu, can you hear me? Pikachu!"
The snow and wind continue to blow hard.
Suddenly, she hears a familiar cry, "Pi-Ka-Chu!"
Hana recognizes the call and cries out, "Pikachu!"
"Pika Pi!" Pikachu cries out again.
Hearing Pikachu's voice, Hana heads in the direction of Pikachu's voice and tries to find him. She hears Pikachu cry as she tries to cry out to him. Suddenly, part of the snow gives out under Hana's feet and she slides down to a ledge.
Suddenly she hears Pikachu's voice, "Pika! Pika!"
"Pikachu!" Hana replies.
She hurries to the edge and is shocked to see Pikachu is hanging on to a ledge after falling down.
Hana reaches down, "Pikachu, here, grab hold of my hand!"
Hana and Pikachu begin to reach for each other with all their might. Hana reaches out and is not planning on giving up. When Hana is close to reaching Pikachu, the rock Pikachu is holding on to snaps off. Hana quickly grabs Pikachu's little paw and pulls him up.
Hana hugs Pikachu, "I got you. Are you okay?"
"Pika Pi," (I'm okay.) Pikachu answers.
Hana stands up and says, "Come on, let's find the others."
Hana begins to climb back up, but she ends up sliding down. She then tries again, but the same thing happened.
"It's no use. We can't get back up," Hana says.
Then calls out, "Akira! Chase! Diana!"
"They're never going to hear us from here," Hana says.
Just then, the wind begins to pick up again. Soon, Pikachu begins to shiver. Hana then wraps her arms around Pikachu to help keep her warm.
"The Blizzard is picking up fast. I'll dig us a cave so we can stay for the night," Hana says.
Suddenly, she hears a loud cry. Hana and Pikachu turn their heads to see something flying towards them. The blizzard is blowing so hard that she isn't able to see what it is.
She squints her eyes and wonders, "What's that?"
The Blizzard doesn't make it easy for her to see as it blows at her and Pikachu, blinding them. Suddenly, Hana feels something picking her up and takes her up the mountain. Hana opens her eyes to see that she is being carried in the air. Both her and Pikachu are confused. They look up to see the Pokemon is a familiar Pokemon.
"An Articuno?!" Hana says, shocked.
The Articuno cries out as it's head turns to Hana. Then continues to fly forward.
"Where are we going?" Hana asks.
"Pika Pika," (I don't know.) Pikachu answers.
"But why would this Articuno…" Hana begins to ask.
But then realizes turning to Articuno, "Hey wait a minute…. I know you!"
Hana remembers that she has helped an Articuno once, when it became weakened and sick with poison. Hana and her friends are able to save it and stop Crimson from trying to sell it.
"Are you… are you really the same Articuno I met before?" Hana asks.
Articuno screeches with glee.
Hana smiles, "It really is you, but where are we going?"
Articuno squawks again and flies down to see a large cave somewhere in the mountains.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket are in an Igloo that they made and have a fire going in there.
James sadly says, "We're doomed. How are we ever going to survive in this ug-gloo?"
"And this candle is our last bit of heat," Meowth says, holding a candle.
Until the candle goes out.
Jessie then places her snow made goods on the ground and says, "Dinner time!"
"Mom's secret recipe snow-rolls," Jessie says.
James sadly says, "I'm just not in the mood for frozen food."
"Now all we got left are burnt out matches," Meowth says, holding them in his paw.
James takes one and says, "If we pretend they're actually heating lamps, maybe that will be enough to keep us warm."
Jessie takes another, "We just have to use our imagination."
"I'll try anything to warm up," Meowth says.
Soon, the three begin to imagine being in hot places in order to keep cool. Meowth imagines he is in a hot tube. James imagines himself at the beach. Jessie imagines she is in a desert, with a kotatsu, heaters with teapots, and wears sweaters and scarves. Jessie soon opens her eyes to find James and Meowth asleep, mostly falling into dreamland. Knowing that this isn't a time for sleeping, Jessie claps them to wake up.
Then angrily says, "If you fall asleep you'll freeze!"
Then Jessie continues to slap them multiple times to keep them up.
Meanwhile, thanks to Articuno, Hana and Pikachu are able to find a large cave in the mountain and hurry inside. Articuno then uses its Ice Beam attack to freeze the entrance so the cold can't get in.
Hana says, "Thanks for helping us Articuno."
Articuno screeches in reply.
Hana says in concern, "I hope Diana and the others are alright."
"Pikachu," (Me too.) Pikachu says, worried.
Hana then places Pikachu in her jacket and wraps her arms around them to keep cool.
Hana turns to see her Pokeballs, "I do hope all my Pokemon are alright."
Hana then takes her bag off and places it inside her jacket. That way her Pokeballs can stay warm. Hana knows she's going to regret the idea, but she knows it is for the best.
"Hey Pikachu, I think it will be best if you get inside your Pokemon," Hana says.
"Pikachu," (No way.) Pikachu denies.
"I know you don't like going in there, but you'll get cold if you stay out here," Hana says.
"Pika Pika Pikachu," (But then, you'll get cold and you can't go in a Pokeball.) Pikachu says.
"Don't worry, I've been in the cold multiple times. It took some time to get used to it, but I'm okay," Hana says.
"Pika Pika. Pika Pika Pikachu Pika Pikachu Pi Pika Pi Pikachu." (I'm not going inside. I want to help keep you warm. You've always been helping me and taking care of me, and worry about me, it's time I do the same for you too.) Pikachu says.
Hana's eyes widen and softly says, "Pikachu."
Just then, Little Brother and Little Sister, Luxray, Lucario, Baby, Cubone, Latios, and Latias, and the rest of her Pokemon leave their Pokeballs. Then they huddle against Hana like they're all part of some pack. Even Articuno decides to join in and wraps her wings around them.
Hana can't help, but smile and shed tears with glee, "Alright, you win. I guess we'll all stick together. We'll all be cold together."
With that, Hana and all of the Pokemon continue to huddle together for the rest of the storm, as it continues to blow outside. Finally, the storm is over and the sun rises. Soon, Charmander uses Flamethrower to thaw out the ice so they can come out.
Hana comes out and says, "The Blizzard's over."
Soon, they see a beautiful sun shining in the sky.
"The sun looks beautiful," Hana says.
"Cubone," (Pretty sun.) Cubone happily says.
"Meloetta," (Sure is.) Meloetta says.
Suddenly, Akira's voice appears, "Hana!"
"Hana!" Diana calls out.
"Up here!" Chase calls.
Hana and all the Pokemon turn their heads to see Chase, Akira, and Diana straight ahead as they are riding on Celestia through the snow.
"Hey guys, it's great to see you," Hana happily says.
Soon, Diana, and the others join with Hana and the Pokemon.
"Hana, how'd you get through that storm?" Diana asks.
Hana turns to the Pokemon, "It's thanks to Articuno that we got through it. It found a cave and we hid there until the storm passed."
"Wait a minute, is that?" Diana asks.
"Yeah. It's the same Articuno that we met when it got hurt and sick. I'm surprised it found us here," Hana says.
"I have to agree. Course we didn't end up as cold as you guys were," Akira says.
"Yeah. The Pokemon helped us dig a tunnel into a hot spring. We were warm and toasty," Diana says.
"I guess so, but I'm glad to see you again Articuno," Hana says, and hugs her friend.
Articuno snuggles her with a smile.
"Hmm, it's kind of a coincidence that Articuno found us. Almost as if it's trying to find us," Chase says.
Confused, Hana turns to Articuno, "Were you trying to find us this whole time since you got better?"
Articuno nods its head in reply.
"But why?" Hana asks.
Articuno then screeches with glee and explains what it's doing. Hana is soon shocked to hear it.
"You mean, you want to be my Pokemon?" Hana asks, shocked.
This sure is a surprise to the Pokemon, including Diana and the others.
Soon it makes sense, and Akira says, "Well what do you know. It seems that Articuno has taken a shine to you, Hana."
"That means when Articuno got better it decided that it wants you to be its trainer," Diana adds.
So then once it got better, it flew all over trying to find you. And it ends up being a chance that it finds you when you need help," Chase adds.
Hana turns to Articuno and asks, "Are you sure?"
Articuno nods its head in reply.
Hana smiles and says, "Yes Articuno, I would like to have you. I promise to take good care of you."
Hana then brings out her Pokeball and taps Articuno with it. Then Articuno goes inside the Pokeball. With a click, Articuno is fully inside.
"That's great Hana," Diana says.
"Pika Pika," (A new friend to have on our team.) Pikachu happily says.
"By the way take a look at what the blizzard blew in," Akira says.
The group turn their heads to see a deflated familiar Meowth balloon.
"It's Team Rocket's Balloon. I wonder how they lost it," Hana says.
Diana smiles and says, "Finders keepers."
"It's out of fuel, but I think I know how we can fix it. With some of our Fire Pokemon," Akira says.
"Great idea," Hana says.
Akira brings out Growlithe and Judy, while Hana brings out Vulpix and Charmnder.
Then they both say, "Use Flamethrower!"
The Pokemon then performs Flamethrower into the balloon and it fills it up with hot air. Soon, the balloon is full of hot air.
"Up up and away," Chase says.
Hana calls back all her Pokemon and Akira does the same with his Pokemon. Soon, they're in the Hot Air Balloon planning on heading to the next town. Meanwhile, Team Rocket is pinching themselves to keep themselves awake.
Meowth screams, "It hurts!"
"I hurt more!" Jessie screams.
James screams as well.
"But if we don't stay awake, we'll be history," Jessie cries out.
"If we survive this, I'm gonna need a face-lift," James says.
Soon, Team Rocket notices their balloon, and begins to chase after it. Soon, they fall and splash into a hot spring. They say, "Team Rocket is warming up again.
Hana notices their call and asks, "Hey, did you guys hear something?"
"Huh? I didn't hear anything," Diana says.
Soon, Hana and her friends see a town over the mountains.
"Look over there," Akira says.
"It's a town," Hana says.
"We made it," Diana happily says.
The group laughs as they continue to travel in the air to the next down. Hana has Articuno as a new friend, and she along with her friends and Pokemon survive the snow storm. Now, they are sailing over the mountains to warm land. Meanwhile, Team Rocket is still stuck in the hot springs. It's too hot for them to stay in the pool, but it's too cold for them to leave. They end up getting cold heads and hot feet.
