Episode 58: Wake up Snorlax!

Once again, Hana, Akira, Diana, and Chase continue on their journey down a forest path. Pikachu has fallen asleep on Hana's backpack, same with Alistair on Akira's backpack. Shippo and Winnie are both sleeping in the carrier. Suddenly, the group sees an old man with long white hair covering his eyes and a long beard. He is wearing a green robe with a blue jewel necklace.

The old man sees them and says, "Groovy! Greetings, children of the universe."

"Hello. Are you all by yourself?" Hana asks.

"I have my music," The man says, brings out a yellow flute that has a Pokeball on it.

Soon, the man begins to play music, much to the friend's delight. Soon, the Pokemon begins to wake up as they let out yawns.

"Wow!" Chase says.

"That was nice!" Diana says.

Then the old man says, "Now that you've heard my music, you have to give me some food."

Soon, the group becomes confused.

"We thought it was free!" Akira says.

"Isn't my flute playing at least worth a sandwich?" The old man asks.

"We'd like to give you something to eat, but we don't even have anything to eat ourselves," Hana says.

The old man asks, "Not even a cookie?"

"Cookie? We don't even have crumbs," Akira says.

"Another free concert. Well, guess you should hit the road, then," The old man says.

The group then heads off, but because they haven't eaten anything, they feel that they don't have the energy to move.

Hana groans, "I'm so hungry!"

"I'm about to collapse," Chase says.

"We haven't had anything to eat since yesterday," Diana says.

Winnie then barks along with Shippo.

"I think Winnie and Shippo are hungry too," Hana says.

"Pika Pi," (Me too.) Alistair says.

Suddenly, Pikachu spots something, "Pika pika," (Look over there.)

The group turns their heads to see a town is up ahead. Meanwhile, Team Rocket isn't far from behind and is listening to the old hippie too.

When he's done playing, the hippie says, "Pennies for the piper? Food be nice, too."

However, Team Rocket isn't buying it.

"You stop people, play some weird song," Jessie says.

"Then you beg for food?" James replies.

Meowth comments, "You should be begging for music lessons."

Team Rocket soon walks away, chucking over Meowth's comment.

The old hippie says, "Bad vibes. Those dudes should at least respect their elders."

Meanwhile, Hana and her friends arrive in town.

"We finally made it," Hana says.

"At last, we can get something to eat," Diana says.

"Pikachu," (At long last.) Pikachu says.

"Yeah," Chase says.

Soon, the group first stop at a bread bakery, but they find the shelves and boxes to be empty.

"There's no bread left!" Diana says, shocked.

Akira calls out, "Excuse me! We'd like to buy some bread, please!"

"Pika." (Please.) Alistair says, as Winnie and Shippo bark.

Just then, the baker arrives at the window, "What's that? A customer?"

"We'd like to buy some bread, please," Akira says.

"I'm sorry, we don't have any bread left," The baker says.

"Really? Not at all?" Chase asks.

The baker shakes his head in reply.

Soon, the group checks the market place to find the shelves, boxes, and stores are all empty.

"There aren't any vegetables, either!" Chase says.

"Not even fruits and berries," Hana says.

"What happened to all the food?" Diana asks.

Hana and her friends ask around, but every store and home they've been to has no ingredients to make anything, or any type of food.

"I can't believe it. An entire town without food," Chase says.

"This isn't good. I'm starving," Diana says.

"And it seems everyone else in town are," Hana says.

Suddenly, an old man approaches them, "My friends, what's the matter?"

We've been looking all over for food in this town, but, there's nothing to eat," Chase says.

"We're so hungry we can hardly move," Diana says.

Soon, the old man invites them to his home where he gives them food to eat. Even the Pokemon are able to eat, and Winnie is drinking from her bottle.

:"So you and your friends are on a Pokemon journey together," The old man, who is actually the mayor of the town.

"Sir. What happened to the town? There's no bread in the bakery," Hana asks.

"And there aren't any vegetables at the market," Chase says.

"The water in the river has completely dried up, killing all our produce. So food in our town has become very, very hard to come by. It's hard enough to keep food for ourselves to eat," The mayor says.

The group soon grows concerned to hear this. This town sounds like it's in real trouble.

Seeing their expressions, the Mayor says, "Oh, please, don't worry. Our family can live off our food stores for quite a while yet."

"But I don't remember the weather being any drier this year than it usually is," Diana says.

"It rained just like it always does," Akira says.

"It's not the rain," The mayor says.

"But if it's not the rain, what is it?" Hana asks.

Soon, the Mayor shows them the river that is practically empty.

"This is the river that used to flow through our town. For some reason, it suddenly stopped running two weeks ago," The mayor says.

Hanas notices the plants drying up, "The plants! They're all dried up!"

"Pika pika," (How terrible.) Pikachu says.

"We can't produce wheat or vegetables. Our town's in real trouble," The mayor says.

"And you can't grow anything without water, can you?" Chase suspects.

"No. This is a serious problem," The mayor says.

Akira then asks, "Could the source of the problem be somewhere upstream?"

"Let's go check it out!" Hana says.

Then Diana says, "We have to pay you back for that delicious meal. We'll find out what the problem is."

"Mr. Mayor, we'll be back as soon as we can," Hana says.

The Mayor says, "I should warn you that no one dares go upstream anymore. There's no telling what you might find.

"That's okay. We're always ready for anything!" Hana says.

"Pika!" (And how!) Pikachu says.

Soon, the group begins to travel upstream in the river. They see that the water is only coming out like little streams for a pond.

"Do you think something could be blocking the river from getting through?" Hana asks.

"It is possible, but we won't know for sure unless we find the source," Akira says.

Suddenly, Chase notices something up ahead, "Hey, what's that?"

The group finds the river has been blocked by a large wall of thorns.

"Oh my, the river has been covered by thorns," Hana says.

"Be careful guys when we crawl through," Akira says.

Soon, Hana and her friends begin to crawl under and pass the thorns. Suddenly, a sharp thorn leaves a cut on Diana's arm, and it stings a bit.

"Be careful, those things are sharp!" Chase says.

"How am I supposed to be careful? Everywhere you look, there's more thorns," Diana asks.

Suddenly, Pikachu and Alistair panic as they try to get through, "Pika ka ka ka!" (Someone please help us!)

"Pikachu!" Hana says, worried.

"Alistair," Akira says, concerned.

"Guess I have an idea. Maybe our Pokemon can help us," Chase says.

"Good idea!" Diana says.

Hana brings out Bulbasaur and Bounsweet.

Hana calls out, "Bulbasaur, Bounsweet, Razor Leaf attack!"

Chase then calls out, Grovyle, "Grovyle, use Leaf Blade!"

Soon, the three Pokemon begin to use their attacks to cut away the thorns. Soon, Hana and the others are able to get out of the bushes of thorns.

Hana sighs, "We're finally through those thorns!"

"Yeah. That was too close for comfort," Diana says.

Soon, they reach a spring that is practically dried up as well.

"It's a spring!" Diana says.

"It looks like the spring is starting to dry up, too," Chase says.

Soon, the Pokemon and Hana hear a loud snoring sound.

"What's that sound?" Chase asks.

"It sounds like someone snoring," Hana says.

The group notices something ahead and walks over. What they find is a Pokemon and it's huge. huge, bipedal, dark blue-green Pokémon with a cream-colored face, belly, and feet. Its body is composed of mostly its belly, as its limbs are comparatively small. Its head is large with small, pointed ears and two pointed teeth protruding from its lower jaw. It has round feet, which both have three claws and a circular brown paw pad, and short arms with five claws on each hand. It snores loud and it's sleeping. Then scratches it's tummy with his paw.

"It's huge!" Diana says.

"It's a Snorlax!" Chase says.

"I've seen a Snorlac before, and I still think it's huge," Hana says.

"Alright!" Akira says.

Hana brings out her Pokedex and Eexter says, "Snorlax, a Sleeping Pokemon. Snorlax wakes only to eat."

"It doesn't sound too hungry," Hana says.

Suddenly, Diana notices, "Guys, look! Snorlax is blocking the water from the spring!"

"That's why the water in the stream stopped flowing!" Chase says.

"So we just gotta get Snorlax out of the way," Akira says.

"Easier said than done. Snorlax are very very heavy sleepers, but let's try," Hana says.

Hana shakes snorlax, "Wake up, Snorlax!"

"Snorlax, wake up!" Chase says.

"Wow. He's really big," Akira says.

"Pika Pika!" (He's gigantic!) Alistair says.

Hana then shouts, "Hey, Snorlax! Wake up!"

So far, Snorlax is not waking up.

"It just won't wake up!" Diana says.

"Well, then, we'll have to move it," Chase says.

"No. Snorlax is too heavy. They're known for being the heaviest Pokemon, and they can weigh over a thousand pounds," Hana says.

"That does sound heavy," Chase says.

"Well, then there's no way we'll be able to move it," Diana says.

"Maybe we can catch Snorlax in a Pokeball, that way we can move it," Chase says.

Hana then throws her Pokeball at Snorlax, but it ends up rolling off it's stomach.

"That didn't work," Diana says.

Akira turns to Hana, "Maybe your brother and sister can move it?"

"I think Snorlax might be too heavy for them to carry," Hana says.

"We've got to move it, or the town will run out of water!" Diana says.

As Hana and her friends try to come up with another plan, Team Rocket is watching them nearby."

"Yay, it's a Snorlax!" James says.

"Right! We'll go after it in a Formation Z!" Jessie says.

"Okay!" James agrees.

Meanwhile, Hana and her friends are still thinking.

"Well, then, how should we wake it up?" Chase asks.

Suddenly, James appears with a microphone and says, "Good morning, everyone! Oh, well, it's not really morning anymore. Who cares anyway? I'm here to report on the eagerly awaited awakening of the Snorlax. Zoom in, camera person."

Jessie who is holding a video camera, zooms in with the camera

"Ah, it's sleeping. Still sleeping. Watch closely, everyone. This is how Snorlax looks when it's sleeping. Doesn't it look cute? Now watch carefully as we wake up the Snorlax," James says

Annoyed, Hana asks, "What do you think YOU'RE doing?"

Team Rocket turns around to begin the motto.

Jessie:

Prepare for trouble.

James:

Make it double.

Jessie:

To protect the world from devastation.

James:

To unite all peoples within our nation.

Jessie:

To denounce the evils of truth and love.

James:

To extend our reach to the stars above.

Jessie:

Jessie.

James:

James.

Jessie:

Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light!

James:

Surrender now, or prepare to fight.

Hana sighs and says, "Your routine is so boring Snorlax is gonna go into an even deeper sleep!"

"Ha. That's what you think," Jessie says.

Soon James pulls out a radio communicating Meowth, who is floating over them from their balloon.

James contacts Meowth, "This is R2 calling R1, over."

"This is R1, all systems are go!" Meowth says.

"It's Meowth!" Hana says, shocked.

Meowth says from the balloon, "The Ultra Deluxe Balloon Bang-Bang is about to begin!"

Meowth presses a button and deploys grappling cables from the bottom of the balloon.

"What are those things?" Diana asks.

Jessie laughs, "Soon you'll be seeing Snorlax from cable!"

Soon, the cables are lowering to Snorlax

"I'd hate to let them steal Snorlax, but if they get it out of the way for us.." Hana says.

"The spring water will flow like before!" Chase says.

Soon, Pikachu and Alistair direct Meowth to lower the cable while Hana and her friends along with Team Rocket begin to cuff Snorlax with the cable.

From below Meowth sees it all, "Well, I never thought I'd live to see this day, even with nine lives!"

And shed tears, "Team Rocket and Team Twerp working together!"

Once everything is ready, James calls out, "Okay, hoist away!"

Soon, the balloon begins to lift Snorlax in the air as Meowth gives it the gas.

James says, "Steady. Keep it up. Keep it up."

"We've got it now!" Jessie says.

Soon, Snorlax's arms and legs start moving up.

"Just a bit further!" Meowth says.

Suddenly, the cable snaps and sends Meowth and the balloon flying away.

"The cables were too weak to lift Snorlax!" Chase says. says.

"I knew this wouldn't work!" Hana says.

"Yeah, we shoulda known Team Rocket would mess things up," Akira says.

This irritates Team Rocket as Jessie angrily says, "What did you say?"

"Well, it's the truth," Hana says.

"Nothing makes me angrier than being told the truth!" James says.

Soon, the balloon crashes and Meowth emerges from the basket.

"It looks like we're gonna have to wake up Snorlax after all," Meowth did in defeat.

Chase holds an alarm clock and makes a loud sound, "An alarm clock doesn't work."

Holding a bucket of water, James says, "Let's see it sleep through this!"

Then throws it at Snorlax.

"That's sure to do it!," Jessie says.

"Nothing could sleep through that!" Meowth says.

Unfortunately, Snorlax hasn't awakened from it either, leaving Team Rocket disappointed.

"It's not waking up," Jessie cries.

"But why not?!" Meowth adds in tears.

Suddenly, Jessie has an idea, "I got it! In the story of Sleeping Beauty, the beautiful princess, with whom I identify, was awakened by the kiss of a noble prince."

James understands the idea, "Jessie, that's it! Snorlax just might wake up with a kiss from a noble Pokemon!"

"Hey! That might just work!" Diana says.

James says, "Alright, everyone, pick your noblest and we'll try it!"

"Okay!" Chase says.

Soon, the group split up as they try to decide what Nobel Pokemon they should use. Whatever that means.

"So, it's supposed to be a noble Pokemon, right?" Diana asks.

"Yeah, whatever that means," Hana replies.

"What about Hana's Horsea or Celestia?" Chase suggests.

"Yeah, that's right! They're like a prince's horse," Diana says.

"Huh?" Hana says, confused.

"What? You want Celestia to kiss THAT?!" Akira asks, shocked.

"Well we have to pick one of them. Horsea and Celestia's our best bet," Chase says.

"So who are we going to choose?" Diana asks.

Suddenly,Psyduck materializes from his Pokeball and to shock everyone, he gives Snorlax a big kiss on the lips.

"Oh my," Hana says, blushing like crazy.

Then Psyduck falls down and lands on his rump.

"That's a bold move Psyduck did," Chase says.

Hana turns to Team Rocket and wonders, "So which Pokemon do you think they'll try?"

"The same ones they always do," Chase suspects.

"You mean Arbok and Weezing?" Diana asks.

Everyone imagines if either one of them kisses Snorlax and gets weird feelings and looks.

"Snorlax will have nightmares," Diana says.

"Those lips would give me nightmares, too," Chase says.

"Don't forget poison," Hana adds.

Suddenly Team Rocket stands to reveal their candidate.

"Our noble Pokemon!" James says.

"Ta-da!" She and James say as they present their candidate… Meowth dressed as a princess.

"Meowth is the only one with a kiss powerful enough to wake Snorlax," Jessie says.

Everyone is silenced to see their idea.

"Give it a big wet one, fella!" James says.

Meowth turns to his teammates in rage, "Why do I have to be the one to kiss that big lumux?!"

Jessie begins to chuckle nervously, "So we can bring that Snorlax back to the boss."

"Hey, you don't look half bad, Meowth," James says with the same expression as Jessie.

"Keep your eyes to yourself!" Meowth angrily says.

Soon Jessie and James pick up Meowth.

"Pucker up!" Jessie says.

James adds, "Give it a smack attack right on the lip!"

"Disgusting! I quit! No way! The hygiene!" Meowth panics as he squirms to break free.

However, Jessie and James force Meowth towards Snolax and give the giant Pokemon a kiss. Soon enough, Snorlax begins to stir.

"Is it?" Akira asks, shocked.

"That kiss may have done it!" Diana adds.

However, Snorlx snows a strange look on his face, like he is traumatized or disgusted.

"It looks like it's been poisoned," Diana says.

"How'd you look if you got kissed by Meowth?" Akira questions.

"I'd look for a new mouth," Hana replies.

"Hey! Wake up, you big lug!" Meowth screams and kicks Snorlax.

But Moewth bounces off and lands on the ground while Snorlax rolls over to its right. Suddenly, Hana notices something under Snorlax.

"Hmm, what's this?" Hana asks and picks up the thing under Snorlax.

"What'd you find, Hana?" Chase asks.

"It says, "Do Not Disturb," Hana says, reading the sign.

"It's like those signs you hang on hotel doors," Diana says.

"Turn it over, maybe it can give us an idea on how to wake Snorlax," Akira says.

Hana turns the sign over and reads, "In case of emergency, please use a Poke Flute to wake."

"A Poke Flute?" Diana replies.

Suddenly, Chase remembers, "That's right! Now I remember, I heard once that you play a Poke Flute to wake up a Snorlax! A Poke Flute has the power to awaken any sleeping Pokemon!"

Hana brings out her Pokedex and Dexter says, "The Poke Flute is used to wake sleeping Pokemon. Snorlax will only awaken to this flute."

Hana looks at the photo and says, "I've seen that flute before."

Hana then remembers when the old Hippie plays a flute that looks just like it.

Hana remembers, "It looks just like the one that old hippie had!"

"You're right. I remember seeing that flute," Diana says.

"Come on, let's go find him!" Chase says.

Then the gang hurries off to find the hippie with the flute, leaving Team Rocket behind who has heard the conversation.

"Poke Flute?" Jessie says, confused.

Then James says, "Hippie?"

Jessie and James soon members the hippie with the flute and come to the same conclusion, "The music man!"

"Oh no, we let them get ahead of us!" Jessie quickly says.

"Let's hurry!" James replies.

Soon, Jessie and James hurry off to find the old man too.

Meowth scurry from behind, "Wait for me!"

Meanwhile, Hana and her friends are able to find the old hippie at the same place where they first met him.

"What's the rush, dudes?" The hippie asks.

"Thank goodness you're still here! Please, sir, we have a favor to ask of you," Hana says.

"Ask away," The hippie says.

"Just come with us!" Hana says.

"Hey hey! Chill out, my friend!" The hippie.

Team Rocket soon comes rushing in.

"Hi again," Jessie says.

And takes the hippie's hand, "Please come with us."

"We really need your help," James says.

Hana takes the Hippie away, "No way."

Hana then throws her Pokeball, "Primeape, go!"

Then Primeape comes out of his Pokeball.

"Primeape, use your Thrash Attack!" Hana says.

With the matter of seconds, Primeape gives Team Rocket a hard thrashing and sends them flying.

Team Rocket screams, "Team Rocket's blasting off again!"

Soon, Team Rocket is gone and defeated once again.

"Great! Now's our chance," Hana says.

Soon, Hana and her friends return to the spring with the hippie to help with their situation.

"Please, play your Poke Flute to wake this Snorlax," Chase says.

However, the Hippie says, "Hey, you've gotten a lot bigger since I saw you last, Snorlax. Your girth is blowing my mind."

Confused, Diana asks, "You mean you know this Snorlax?"

"I don't just know it, this Snorlax is mine. This little dude loves to snooze. I can't even take it for a walk, I just come to wake it up once a month. I'm running a little late this month, though," The Hippie says

Hana says, "Your Snorlax is stopping the water from flowing into town. We gotta move it out of the way."

"No problem. I can do it," The Hippie says.

The old man begins to play his Poke Flute, and Snorlax's ears twitch as he scratches his tummy. Soon, Snorlax sits up and stretches his arms like he is exercising.

"Guess that did it," Chase says.

Soon, Snorlax walks off.

"Later, Snorlax!" The Hippie says.

However, Diana notices something isn't right, "Look! The water still isn't coming out!"

"Look at that!" Akira says, seeing the problem.

What they see are more thorns blocking the river.

Hana groans in frustration, "Not more thorns!"

"That means, we'll have to clear out all of these thorns before the river can start flowing into town again!" Chase says.

Chase sighs, "What a job!"

Suddenly, they notice the thorns are beginning to move, and turn to see Snorlax eating them.

"Chow down, Snorlax. Looks like you got a case of the munchies," The Hippie says.

"Look! It's eating the thorns!" Diana says.

"Thorns are Snrolax's favorite snack item," The Hippie says.

Diana brings out her Pokedex and Dexter says, "Snorlax's hunger isn't satisfied until it consumes nine-hundred pounds of food, then it goes back to sleep."

"That Snorlax is being Snorlax. When it isn't sleeping it's eating, and when it's not sleeping it's eating." Hana says.

Snorlax continues to eat all the thorns that are in the forest. Soon, the thorns are being cleared up and the river begins to flow normally again, much to the group's delight.

(Soon, Snorlax eats all the thorns, allowing the river to flow normally again)

"Look, guys! The river's back to normal again!" Akira says.

"Pika!" (Alright!) Alistair says.

Soon, the river reaches the town and it begins to flow normally.

The mayor happily says, "Thank goodness! The river's flowing just like before! How can we thank you?"

"It wasn't just us," Hana says.

"The Snorlax helped out, too," Diana says.

"This calls for a celebration! We'll hold a special banquet!" The mayor says.

Hana and her friends smile with glee and things have worked out for everyone, except for Team Rocket. Team Rocket are hobbling through the woods after recovering for the attack they received.

"I'm getting tired of always being beaten," Jessie says, tired.

"I'm as tired as Snorlax," James replies.

Soon, Team Rocket meets the hippie again.

Jessie asks, "Hey, there. What happened to Snorlax?"

"Me amigo? Snorlax are all those thorns and it's caught in some Zs," The Hippie says, turning to Snorlax to see he's back to sleep.

"It went back to sleep?" James says, dumbfounded.

"Mm Hmm. It'll be awhile before it wakes up," The Hippie says.

"About how long?" Jessie asks.

"Well, let's see. This one wakes up about once a moon," The Hippie answers.

Team Rocket is in disbelief after hearing how long Sorlax can sleep. Soon, the timer belonging to the Hippie goes off.

"Well, I gotta split. Wake up another Snorlax. Keep on trucking, dudes," The Hippie says, as he laughs and walks away.

Soon, Team Rocket falls over in disbelief.

"Should we try to capture the Snorlax?" Jessie asks.

"I ain't kissing it," Meowth says.

Then James says, "We better kiss it goodbye."

Soon, Snorlax turns his body and ends up squishing Team Rocket with a thud. As the journey continues.
