Chapter One: Orgins, Part One.
"Mom…" Percy groans, pushing her away as she forces a box of macrons on him.
"Percy! Honey, just take them!" she says, forcing them into his arms and shoving a croissant into his mouth. He tries to mumble around it, but she pushes him out the door of the Triton-Jackson bakery. He spits his croissant out and scowls. As he waits for the light to turn green, letting himcross and not be late to school!, Percy sees an older man in a wheelchair struggling to cross. A car is coming, and no one else is moving, so he drops his macarons hastily and races to push him out of the way. They reach the sidewalk as the light turns green, but Percy ignores it, focusing on helping the older man.
"Thank you, young man," he says, patting Percy's hand as he checks him over for injuries. "Oh! Your pastries!" He glances at them, most spilled on the ground, and puts the remaining ones in the box.
"It's no big deal," Percy says, and it's not. Still, he apologizes and he gives the man one of the more crumpled macrons. Vanilla, by the look of it.
"Delicious. Where did it come from?" he asks. He points to the bakery storefront.
"Triton-Jackson Bakery. Check it out, they're pretty good," Percy tells him. The man nods and smiles.
"I may just do that. Have a nice day, young man." With that, he wheels off, leaving Percy to stare after him. What was I supposed to be doing? Crap. School. He races to Collége Goode, bursting through the doors and up to my classroom. Luckily, his teacher, Mr. Blowfis, isn't here yet so Percy goes and sits in his usual seat. Second row on the right. He begins placing his stuff down when a familiar voice breaks the comfortable silence.
"Triton-Jackson! Get out of that seat!" Percy huffs and twists to face Luke Castellan. He's pouting, like the spoiled brat he is.
"Why?" Percy asks. "This has been my seat for years!" Luke smirks.
"Not anymore."
"New school, new year, new seats!" pipes up Ethan, Luke's little lackey. Luke grins and keeps speaking.
"Annabeth, my best friend, is coming to school this year and I want to sit there, so she can sit next to me!" He smirks back at him, with much more snark if he does say so himself.
"Who is this 'Annabeth'," Percy says, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Is she your girlfriend?" Ethan starts cackling and Luke's lips twitch.
"Who's Annabeth? Um, duh? A model? Like, a really famous model?" Ethan says, still laughing slightly.
"Where do you live? Under a rock?" Psh. Please. Luke's pathetic attempts at burning him are definitely not making him flush. At all. "Like I said, she adores me. We're besties. So, move." He puts his hands on his hips and towers over Percy. He stands up to face Luke.
"Hey! Who elected you the king of seats?" a new voice asks. It's the new kid, Apollo Cesȧire.
"Oh, look Ethan! We've got a little do-gooder in our class this year. Whatcha gonna do newbie, shoot beams out of your sunglasses? Why are you wearing sunglasses anyways?" Luke says, trying to put Apollo in his place. Apollo smirks.
"Wouldn't you like to know," he quips, grabbing Percy's arm and pulling him down next to him. "Let's go, man." Percy trips and spill all his remaining macarons but one.
"Damn it," he says under his breath. Apollo laughs.
"You're a little clumsy, aren't you?" He grins back at Apollo slightly.
"I wish I could interact with Luke without wanting to punch him in the face, like you," Percy tells him. He snorts.
"I do want to punch him in the face. But it would make me more like him, and there's no way in hell that I'm becoming Luke Castellan. But I've got a superhero for my example." He pulls out his phone and shows Percy a picture of a confident man standing on a building, wearing an indigo suit. "Majestio. He says that all that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing, and Luke is the evil, which means we have to be the good. We can't let him get away with it." He mulls over his words in his mind, and tucks them away for later. Then, shrugging, Percy picks up the last macaron and break it in two. He hands a piece to Apollo.
"Percy," he tells him. He nods, taking it.
"Apollo," he says, even though Percy already knows his name. Mr. Blowfis walks into the classroom, prompting conversations to stop.
"Does everyone have a seat?" he asks. The class nods. "Good. For those of you who don't know me, I'm Mr. Blowfis, and I'll be your teacher this year." He pulls out a literature book, prompting them to grab theirs. "Please turn to page 20."
Luke rests his chin on his hand, frowning. "She should be here by now…"
Annabeth Chase races towards Collége Goode. So close. Her father's assistant, Malcolm, catches her arm, effectively stopping her.
"Annabeth, you know what your father said about public school!" Annabeth scowls, then sees a pedestrian looking their way and plasters on a camera-worthy smile.
"I know what he said, but it was definitely Helen's doing! She's controlling him!" Malcolm rubs his forehead. He hates dealing with teenagers.
"Please, Annabeth? Your father and Helen just want the best for you!" Annabeth slumps.
"Malcolm, I just want friends, like any normal sixteen-year-old. Is that too much to ask?" Malcolm doesn't respond, pulling her towards the Gorilla, her bodyguard, and the car that will take her back to prison. Suddenly, Annabeth sees an older man in a wheelchair. The wheelchair is tipped over, and he is struggling to get up. Annabeth disregards Malcolm-what does he know?- and runs towards the man, setting his wheelchair to rights.
"Thank you, young lady," the man says, wheeling away. She hears Malcolm calling her back and, sighing, willingly heads back into her glamorous life as Annabeth Chase, lonely model extraordinaire. As the Gorilla drives her and Malcolm back, she only says one thing;
"Please don't tell Helen or Dad about this?" Malcolm gives a slight nod and Annabeth slumps back into her seat.
"Clarisse!" growls Charlie Beckendorf, commonly referred to just as 'Beckendorf'. Percy twists back to see what the disruption to the class is as Mr. Blowfis hurries up the aisle.
"What's going on, Charles?" he asks. Beckendorf slams a fist onto his desk. A smirking Clarisse leans away.
"It's Clarisse! I'm so gonna get her…"
"Charles!" Mr. Blowfis exclaims. "Go to the principal's office!" Beckendorf punches the desk again and heads out, scowling darkly. Silena Beauregard stares after him, concerned. Ah. Percy thinks that he knows what's going on right now. And he feels terrible for Beckendorf. They're pretty good friends, but Percy doesn't really have a best friend-even though Apollo is certainly shaping up to become one.
A woman in a tailored suit with a brooch shaped like a butterfly leans on a cane. She looks angelic, with white butterflies floating and fluttering around her. A silver mask shaped like wings is perched on her nose, and her hair is unbound. It's a beautiful picture until a demonic smile crosses her features. Cupping her hands, she captures a butterfly and dark energy immerses it. When her hands release it, it's dark as sin. She cackles and it perches on her finger.
"Negative emotions-self loathing, anger, sadness…the perfect canvas on which to paint a masterpiece. Fly away, my little akuma, and evilize him!" The dark butterfly flutters out an open window, heading out in the direction of Goode.
Beckendorf stomps into Mrs. Dodds' office. She scowls at him and slams the lid of her laptop shut.
"Hasn't anyone taught you how to knock? Go on, try it again! This time, knock!" Beckendorf stomps out and the paper in his hand crumples as he clenches his fist. The akuma lands on it, and his head snaps up, a dark flush dusting his cheeks. The purple neon butterfly symbol appears on his face and the woman's voice echoes through his mind.
"Ironheart, I am Kronas. I give you the power to revenge yourself on those who have wronged you. All I ask is that you give me the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous in return." Beckendorf grins evilly.
"Yes, Kronas," he says, and the black energy surrounds him. When it leaves him, he is an iron statue, taller than he was and stronger too. Mrs. Dodds calls to him.
"Come in!" she says. Perfect. Ironheart's first victim. He knocks the door down and her scream echoes through the hallway.
Percy and Apollo are studying in the library when a scream makes him perk up.
"Did you hear that?" he asks Apollo, who nods.
"Yeah. I wonder what it was?" Suddenly, the doors of the library burst open and Ironheart enters, scanning the room.
"Clarisse!" He roars. Not finding Clarisse, he swipes at the shelves and leaves. Percy and Apollo are thrown to the floor, but while Percy is staring at Ironheart's retreating figure in shock, Apollo is grabbing his bag and scrambling to his feet.
"Was that Beckendorf?" he asks Apollo, who unexpectedly grins and nods.
"Sure seems like it, huh? It's like he's an actual supervillain! I gotta get this on tape!" He races out the door, leaving Percy to stare after him.
"What an idiot," he mutters. Mrs. Dodds' voice crackles onto the loudspeaker.
"Attention! All students are to head home immediately! I repeat, all students are to head home immediately!" Percy shoulders his bag and starts heading out, wincing at the trail of destruction in Ironheart's wake.
"Have you finished your homework?" asks Malcolm. Annabeth rests her head on her hand and scowls, very bored.
"Yes, ages ago." she says. He nods and gathers up her papers.
"Your mother wishes to speak with you," he says.
"Step-mother," Annabeth mutters under her breath. Malcolm ignores her and opens the door. Helen enters the room, her stride confident. Annabeth sits up straighter. Helen seats herself next to Annabeth and leans towards her, a frown on her face.
"So you want to go to school," she says. It's not a question. Annabeth nods. "Malcolm, leave us for a moment," Helen instructs. Malcolm nods and leaves, leaving them alone. Helen slams her fist on the table, startling Annabeth.
"You are NOT going to school. I told you this." Annabeth frowns.
"But Helen!" she begins. Helen cuts her off.
"You will stay here, where I can keep an eye on you. I won't have you outside in that-" she pauses, choosing her words carefully, "dangerous world." Annabeth fights back tears as she argues back.
"You don't care about my safety! I just want to go to school and make friends like everyone else! Just let me go! Why do you want to make me miserable?" she shouts. Helen reaches her hand back and slaps Annabeth, hard. Tears do spring to her eyes as she stares at Helen, who is breathing heavily. Annabeth is shocked, but she stays quiet.
"You made me do that," Helen says. Annabeth stays silent, staring her down. Helen exhales angrily and glares at her. "Fine! Go to school! But if you speak of this to Fredrick, I will pull you out. Is that understood?" Annabeth nods, and stands up to head to her room.
Slumping onto her couch-she's the only teenager she knows with a couch in her room, oh wait, she's the only teenager she knows period- Annabeth clenchs her hands. She won the right to go to school, so why does it feel like she lost? Running her hands through her hair, Annabeth looks around her ginormous room Something black catches her eyes. Curiously, she picks up the small black and red box on her coffee table. Opening it cautiously, she skids backwards as a small thing pops out.
"No way," she breathes, watching it float in front of her. "Like a genie in a lamp!" It opens it's mouth.
"I met him once," it says in a masculine tone. Annabeth stares at it, entranced. She loves science, and this beats all its laws. The thing keeps talking. "So he grants wishes! Big deal! I'm wayy more personable! I'm Plagg. Nice to meet you. Ooh, shiny…" He floats over to her computer and it looks like he's trying to force his surprisingly large mouth around it.
"Don't touch that! Get over here!" Annabeth yelps. Shrugging, Plagg flies to her bookshelves.
Percy goes up to his room, after telling his mom about his day at school. His dad's in the back, baking, per usual, so he heads to his blue-themed room to relax and maybe design a little bit. Emptying his bag, he sees a small black and red box tumble out.
"What's this?" he mutters. Opening it, he jumps back in shock as a red floating thing pops out.
"Hi!" it says cheerfully. Percy yelps and jumps onto his chair, using it as a shield.
"Talking floating bog-mouse!" he exclaims.
"No, I'm Tikki!" It floats closer and Percy slams a jar onto it, trapping it."If that makes you feel better," it says in a high squeaky voice.
"Can you eat this? What about this?" he akss as he flies around with Annabeth chasing him. Finally, she cups her hands around him.
"Are you hungry?"
"Always, blondie," Plagg tells her. Annabeth walks over to her mini fridge.
"Don't call me blondie. What do you want?" she asks. It points to a block of American cheese she has sitting in there.
"Cheese. But next time, better cheese. Something like…Camembert?" Annabeth grabs the cheese and goes back to the couch. Plagg sits on the box and proceeds to eat it.
"You still haven't told me what you are, or what your doing here for that matter," she says. Plagg belches and puts down the cheese.
"I'm an all-powerful, all-hungry being called a kwami. We grant powers, and mine is the power of destruction." Annabeth raises an eyebrow.
"Say I believe you. My parents wouldn't really be happy with me having superpowers." Plagg flies up in front of her, suddenly serious.
"You can't tell anyone about me, got it?" Annabeth nods.
"Mom? Dad?" Percy calls. Tikki phases out of the jar effortlessly and floats in front of him.
"Shush! You can't tell anyone about me!" she warns.
"Yes?" Sally calls. Percy glances at Tikki and she shakes her head warningly.
"Nothing!" he calls back. Turning back to Tikki, he levels her with a stare.
"Explain."
"Ok, to transform, say 'Plagg, claws out!" Plagg tells her, after letting her examine the silver ring for a bit.
"Plagg, claws out!" Annabeth cries.
"That's not what I meantttt!" he shrieks as he's sucked into the ring. Annabeth runs to the full-length mirror in her bathroom and examines her suit.
"Tikki, there's a problem," says Percy.
"What is it?" she gasps.
"I don't have my ears pierced... and mom might murder me if I get them pierced," he tells her, eyeing the earrings before him.
"Oh! That's no problem!" Tikki closes her eyes and concentrates, and the earring turn into cuff links. Luckily, Percy's trademark dark blue jacket has cuffs. He thought it was weird at the moment, but now he's grateful for them. He inserts them, and looks expextantly at Tikki.
"What next?"
"Wicked," she says. A high-collared black leather bodysuit covers her head to foot. Bright green gloves reach up to her elbows and like-colored boots starts at her knees. Her mask is molded to her face, and green film covers her eyes, protecting her distinctive grey eye color. Cat ears pop out right behind her curtain bangs and her hair is bound in a long braid, reaching to mid-back. A tail formed from a belt swishes behind her. Two staffs form an x on her back, and she grabs one, launching herself out her window into Paris.
"Ok, ok, ok," Percy says, pacing around his room and running his hands through his hair. "Capture the akuma, Lucky Charm, Miraculous Ladybug... this is all going to fast, Tikki! I won't be able to keep up!" Tikki pats his hand.
"Sure you will. Now, all you have to say is 'Tikki, spots on!'"
"That's a pretty lame phrase," he scoffs, but says it anyways.
"Tikki, spots on!" A red flash envelops him, and he races to his mirror to inspect himself. A black mask with two red dots at the corner covers most of his face. Most of his bodysuit is dark red, with small black dots scattered along his back and shoulder. Short black gloves protect his hands and short back boots cover his feet. Two black lines start at his high ribs and end in a point above his pelvis. A yo-yo is slung across his hips like a belt, and he doesn't really like it.
"Hey Tikki? Normal clothes, please?" She doesn't respond, of course, and Percy jogs up to his mom's rooftop garden. Unlatching his yo-yo, he draws it back and flicks it slightly. Immediately, it latches onto a gargoyle that's pretty far away. Experimently, he tugs it and is promptly flung to it. He almost smacks into the gargoyle but manages to land on his feet. Well... not for long. He stumbles and falls off the roof. Twisting in midair, he tries to throw his yo-yo again but the damn thing isn't working, of course. He's about to hit the ground when he smacks into a body. They get tangled up by his useless yo-yo and he opens his eyes cautiously. Blonde bangs and green-tinted eyes greet him. The girl-probably his partner- winks at him.
"Hey there, partner." He flushes slightly and untangles them quickly. He falls to the ground first, then turns and catches her. She hops out of his arms and leans on one of her staffs, scrutinizing him.
"So you're the partner my kwami told me about. A little clumsy, aren't you?" she says. He rubs his neck.
"Yeah. I'm Per-perfectly sorry!" The girl raises an eyebrow and Percy curses his stupidity. "Ok…I'm-uh-"
"Haven't thought of a name?" Percy asks snakily. She gives him an unimpressed look.
"As if you have, Red." She keeps thinking and then her face lights up and Percy can't wait to hear what he should call her. "Call me Lady Jinx. Purrfect!" she crows. Percy thinks it's a great name, but just because she's cute when she's annoyed hold on what?!, he antagonizes her.
"Why, again?" he asks. She smirks.
"I'm a black cat. Black cats are a bit unlucky. Jinx is something that gives you bad luck and I'm a girl. See where I'm going?" she prompts.
"Not really, no," he tells her, and she scoffs.
"Bug-brain. Anyways, we've got a villain to catch and people to save. Let's go." She preps her staff and he winks and bows.
"After you, m'lady."
"Don't call me that, bugaboy." She vaults away and as Percy tosses his yo-yo in the direction she's heading, he's got a love-struck grin on his face.
A/N:
Confession time: I haven't actually watched Miraculous Ladybug in it's entirety. But I have seen a lot, so even though I might not include all episodes(face it, not all of them are thrilling. Mr. Pidegeon? Joke) I'll try to include the goodies. Percy and Annabeth will obviously be OOC as they are a combo of Adrien/Marinette, respectively. Grover won't be Alya because our favorite daughter of Zeus is gonna be Nino and Grovalia is nasty. Apollia is much better. I'm just gonna roll with where this takes me, but rest assured this will end with the love square all wrapped up. Well…maybe:). See you next chapter!
