Episode 65: A Chansey Operation

It's a day after the incident at Grandpa Canyon, and Hana has to stay in a hospital for observation. Hana is sleeping in a hospital bed with Pikachu sleeping next to her. Diana, and the others are resting on the couch or chairs for their rest, and Gary decides to stay with Hana for the night. Hana wakes up and lets out a calm yawn. Pikachu wakes up to see Hana up and walks to her with glee.

Hana smiles and pets him on the head, "Hey Pikachu, how are you doing?"

"Pikachu, Pika Pi? Pika Pikachu?" (I'm okay, but what about you? Are you okay?) Pikachu replies.

"I'm feeling a lot better now. It's not as painful as it looks, or feel," Hana says.

"Pika pi," (That's good.) Pikachu says.

That's when Diana, the boys, and the little Pokemon wake up from their sleep.

Diana is the first to see Hana, "Hi Hana, how are you doing?"

"I'm okay. I'm feeling a lot better now," Hana says.

"That's good. You had us worried when that Aerodactyl got you," Chase says.

"Yeah. You just had to do something crazy," Gary adds.

"Sorry guys, but you would have been attacked by Aerodactyl," Hana says.

"It's beat being eaten by a Prehistoric Pokemon," Akira says.

Gary says, "Yeah. And Grandpa was pleased and not pleased."

"Pleased and not pleased?" Diana says, confused.

"He's pleased to see that Hana and I got fossils and living Prehistoric Pokemon, but not pleased that Hana almost got eaten alive. But he was also happy to hear Charmeleon evolve," Gary says.

"Yeah. I know I'm going to get a bit of an earful later," Hana says.

Just then, a man with short brown hair, tan skin, and wearing a medical coat walks into the room.

"Good morning everyone. How is our patient?" The doctor says.

"I'm feeling a lot better Dr. Proctor," Hana says.

Dr. Proctor says, "That's good to hear. I'll just give you a little check up and you'll be done."

During the examination, Dr. Proctor removes the bandages to see the bruises from the Aerodactyl's claws haven't done much damage and the cuts are healing properly. He checks her heart, her sight, hearing, and her reflex. A few minutes later, Hana walks back out and is greeted by Pikachu who jumps into her arms. Hana giggles as the two snuggle each other's cheeks.

"Well Hana, everything's checked out. You're free to go," Dr. Proctor says.

"Thank you Doctor," Hana says.

"Glad to see you're feeling better," Diana says.

"I'm glad too. Now we can continue with our journey," Hana says.

Before Hana and the others can leave, they hear the hospital's computer phone going off.

"Hmm, your phone is ringing," Diana says.

"I wonder who that could be," Dr. Proctor replies.

The doctor walks to the computer, and Nurse Joy appears on the screen, Hello? Hello?

"Hello, Nurse Joy. What can I do for you?" Dr. Proctor questions.

Nurse Joy becomes serious, "Doctor, this is a critical emergency! A truck that was carrying Pokemon that was stolen by two poachers was involved in a traffic accident!"

Then the screen shows the incident as Nurse Joy says, "Many Pokemon were injured and my Pokemon Center can't handle all the victims!"

At the incident, two police officers arrested two men who are most likely the poachers. At the same time, ambulances and Chansey with stretches are carrying Pokemon left and right.

Officer Jenny says, "The Pokemon Center's full! We better get these Pokemon to the hospital!"

Back at the hospital, Hana and the others are shocked to see what is happening.

"This is terrible!" Chase says.

"It's awful!" Diana agrees.

"There are so many injured Pokemon," Hana says.

"It's no wonder the Center can't hold them all," Gary says.

On the screen, Nurse Joy says, "We need your hospital to help care for some of these patients temporarily."

Dr. Proctor says, "Okay. Bring them down this way."

"Thank you, Doctor," Nurse Joy says, and hangs up the phone.

"That is one bad accident," Gary says.

"I wish there's something we can do to help them," Hana says.

Just then, Dr. Proctor holds out coats and outfits, "Alright, everyone. You better get into these."

Everyone becomes confused to hear it.

"We don't have enough doctors and nurses, so it looks like you'll all have to be my assistants," Dr. Proctor says.

Confused, Diana asks, "We're gonna help treat Pokemon?"

"You'll do fine as long as you do exactly as I tell you," Dr. Proctor says.

"I'm ready if you are, guys," Hana says.

"I'm ready," Akira says.

"I'll help too," Chase says.

"I guess I can help, but take it easy Hana, okay," Gary says.

Hana nods her head, "I will, don't worry."

"Let's help those hurt Pokemon!" Diana says.

"Pika Pika," (Now, let's do it.) Pikachu says.

"Pikachu," (Let's help those Pokemon.) Alistair says.

Winnie and Shippo bark in reply.

Soon, sirens are beginning to be heard from outside.

Dr. Proctor comments, "They never told us about this in med school."

As soon as Hana and her friends are ready to help, the doors open and the patients are rushed inside to the medical rooms. One of the first ones is a crying Cubone.

Cubone continues to waill, "Cubone!" (Owie!)

Dr. Proctor runs to the paiten and asks, "What's the condition of the patient?"

The Chansey hands him a clipboard, "Chansey." (Here it is.)

Dr. Proctor takes it and looks at the condition, "Okay, take it to the external injuries room one and prepare for a Cubone scan!"

In one of the medical rooms, Hana, Chase, and Hana's Pokemon Chansey are helping with the Cubone. Hana calls Professor Oak to have her Chansey sent to help out with the situation.

Dr. Proctor tells the group, "Move Cubone to the treatment table, stat!"

"Ready? We'll do it on three. One. Two. Three!" Chase says.

The group moves the stretcher bed on to the treatment table, and Cubone is still crying.

Cubone cries out, "Cubone! Cubone!" (It hurts! It hurts!)

"We have to keep the patient under control!" Dr. Proctor says.

Hana takes the little Pokemon in her arms and begins to rock it, "There there Cubone, everything is going to be okay."

Hana begins to hum the tune Oracion and Cubone begins to calm down.

"Wow Hana, you've got a knack for this," Dr. Proctor comments.

"Thank you," Hana says.

"Yeah. Hana has actually been helping Pokemon since she was little," Chase says.

"Well color me impressed," Dr. Proctor says.

Soon, Cubone calms down and Hana laws him on the table as she says, "Take it easy, you're gonna be okay."

Cubone feels happy and Hana pets him on the head.

Hana says, "You were scared, weren't you? Everything's gonna be fine now. You're a brave little one, aren't you, Cubone?"

Hana moves away from a second allowing it to have his head examined.

Soon, Hana's Chansey comes in with an x-ray of Cubone.

Dr. Proctor takes the x-ray, "Thanks, Chansey."

He examines the x-ray and says, "Its head is okay thanks to that thick skull, repair the fracture with superglue and apply a bandage."

"I can do that for you, Doctor," Chase says.

"Okay, Chase," Dr. Proctor says.

Hana passes Chase little Cubone and says, "Now you be good for Chase and he'll fix you right up."

Cubone nods his head a little and looks rather nervous, but decides to be brave knowing he is in good hands.

Meanwhile, Akira is helping out an Arcanine that has an injured leg. It whimpers a little to feel the pain from having medicine put on the injury on it's leg.

Akira says, "Hang in there a little more. I'm just about done putting the medicine on."

Alistiar passes the bandage wrap to Akira, "Pika Pi," (Here you go.)

Akira finishes putting the medicine on the wound and takes the bandage, "Thanks Alistair.

"Now just hold still," Akira says as he wraps the bandage on Arcanine's leg.

Soon, he is finished.

"There you go," Akira says.

Arcanine barks, meaning thanks and licks Akira on his cheeks, causing him to laugh a bit. Arcanine does the same to Alistair and causes him to laugh.

In another medical room, Diana and a few Chanseys are helping at Hitmonchan by putting a cast on his left arm. Once Chansey finishes wrapping the cast and bandages on it, Diana puts an arm sling on it and adjusts it so the arm can be comfortable for Hotmonchan.

"There you go. You were a great patient," Diana says.

"Hitmon," (Thank you.) Hitmonchan says.

Gary and some of his Chansey also help out with a Poliwag, Poliwhirl, and a Poliwrath. They put bandages and wraps on them so they can heal.

Back to Hana and Pikachu, turns out two of the patients are an Arbok and a Raticate?

Hana calmly says, Just take it easy, Arbok, Raticate. There's no need to let your instincts take over. You both are severely injured."

Soon, both of the Pokemon are calming down, but still not letting their guard down.

"This Raticate's teeth are broken, it couldn't bite anything if it tried," Dr. Proctor says.

"Yeah. If Raticate tries, its teeth can fall off," Hana says.

Dr. Proctor turns to Chansey, "Just glue its teeth back together with super glue."

Chansey picks up Raticate and takes it away from his treatment.

Hana sighs, "That was a little too close."

"Yes. Now, let's see," Dr. Proctor says, examining Arbok.

He then says, "It's own poison is circulating through its body."

"And it has a knot on its tail," Hana says, noticing the problem.

"Right. I'll have to remove it in a hurry," Dr. Proctor says.

Dr. Proctor, Hana, Chansey, and Pikachu hurry to another treatment room.

Hana pets Arbok on the head, "It's okay. We'll help unknot your tail."

Arbok groans due to the pain.

Dr. Proctor calls out, "Chansey, bring me a hypodermic of anesthetic."

Chansey brings the hypodermic and gives it to the doctor.

Dr. Proctor proceeds to inject the anesthetic into Arbok. The shot causes it to scream in pain and soon knocked out by the effect of the anesthetic.

"That must have been strong stuff," Hana says.

"Yes. Now, we can perform the procedure," Dr. Proctor says.

Dr. Proctor and Hana begin to untie Arbok's tail so the poison can't be trapped in its body. Hana and Pikachu then put bandages on it.

"There we go. Arbok feels much better," Hana says.

Soon, more patients including another Poliwhirl and a Weepinbell with a Voltorb trapped in it's mouth.

"Looks like more are on the way. I'll go help out," Hana says.

"Thank you Hana. I'll check on Arbok to make sure it's healing properly," Dr. Proctor says.

Soon, Hana and the others call their Pokemon out to help out transporting medicine, bandages including wraps, and heavy boxes. Soon, many of the Pokemon are being treated in the hospital

In another room, Gary and Chase are tending to a Pinsir who has a broken claw on the head.

Chase places the claw on that has super glue, "Keep it from moving around."

"I'm trying," Gary says, having his arms around the Pokemon.

"Alright, this one looks okay," Chase says, after placing the claw on.

Then says to Pinsir, "Try not to move around too much until the glue hardens, okay?"

Pinser happily says, "Ir ir ir ir." (Thank you.)

Gary laughs and says, "I think it's trying to say 'thank you.'"

"I agree," Chase says.

In another medical room, Diana along with Pichu, Bellossom, and Hana's Chansey are helping Weepingbell that still has Voltorb in it's mouth. Diana and Pichu hold Weepingbell while Hana and her Chansey try to pull Voltorb out.

"We have to do this carefully," Hana says.

Hana nods her head as she says, "Easy does it."

Suddenly, Voltorb starts to get electrified as everyone stands back.

"We need to be extra careful on this one. One false move and Voltrob will self-destruct," Hana says.

"Okay. Let's try again, but more gently," Diana says.

Hana and Chansey grab hold of Voltorb.

Hana calmly says, "Don't you self destruct, Voltorb."

Diana and Pichu hold Weepingbell as it feels the pressure of Voltorb being pulled out of its mouth.

"Hang in there, Weepinbell," Diana says.

Finally, Voltorb has now been set free.

"Nice work!" Diana says.

Hana turns to Weepingbell and asks, "How are you feeling, Weepinbell?"

Weepinbell pants as he says, "Weeep...in...bell…" (Thank...you...ma'am..)

In an external injuries room, Hana, Chase, Akira, and Dr. Proctor are dealing with Dodrio that has its neck trapped in one huge knot.

Chase says, "Hey, settle down!"

"We can't get near it! That Pokemon is really upset," Akira says.

"You'll be upset when all your necks were tied together," Hana says.

Dr. Proctor walks over, "That's a knotty problem."

"Doctor Proctor, what do we do?" Chase asks.

Dr. Proctor brings out a paper and reads it, "Dodrio, a Triple Bird Pokemon. Its three heads represent joy, sorrow, and anger.

"All three heads look pretty angry to me," Akira says.

"We have to do something. If we don't, Dodrio is going to suffocate," Hana says.

Then Dr. Proctor turns to Chansey, "Chansey, prepare the anesthetic!"

Chansey gives Dr. Proctor the needle and the doctor approaches the Dodrio calmly

"Okay, now don't move," Dr. Proctor says.

Suddenly, one of the Dorio heads attacks the doctor, causing the needle to inject the anesthetic into himself. Everyone in the room, including the Pokemon, excluding Chansey are shocked.

"Oh boy. That's not good," Dr. Proctor says.

"Are you okay, Doc?" Chase asks.

Dr. Proctor questions, "Does this look okay?"

"He's right. One injection of that and its lights out," Akira says.

Dr. Proctor takes the needle out and says, "I'd say this'll put me out for at least…"

Soon, he begins to get drowsy, "Six hours."

Hana panics, "Doctor, you can't go to sleep!

"You guys take over. Goodnight," The doctor says and lays down on a table close by

Soon, he falls asleep.

Chase calls out, "Doc!"

Pikachu and Alistair call out, "Pika!" (Doctor!)

Hana nudges his shoulder as she calls out, "Wake up, Doc! Come on! Wake up!"

"It's no use. He's out," Akira says.

Chansey then pulls a blanket over the doctor so he can get some sleep.

"So, what now?" Chase asks.

Hana says, "It looks like we're on our own."

The turns to Dodrio, "And we need to get him to calm down."

"But what can we do? That is one angry Pokemon," Chase asks.

Hana then has an idea, "I think I know."

Then brings out her leaf whistle, "I can play the song Gary's mom should me."

"You mean that song, 'Oracion?'" Akira asks.

"That's the one," Hana answers.

Hana then begins to play the song Oracion on the Leaf whistle. As she plays the song, Dodrio begins to calm down. Akira, Chase, Pikachu, and Alistair watch as Dodrio begins to calm down until it's no longer upset. They close their eyes and move their heads to the music. In a few minutes, Hana finishes with the song and sees Dodrio has finally calmed down. Hana puts the leaf on the table and walks over to the Pokemon. Then pets two of the heads with her hands.

Hana shows a reassuring smile as she says, "It's okay Dodrio. I understand your upset about being tied up and it hurts. Please, let me and my friends treat you and you'll be fine."

The three headed Pokemon look at each other. Then look at Hana and nod their heads meaning yes.

"Thank you, Dodrio," Hana says.

"How are we going to treat it? They'll easily feel the pain if we try to touch it," Akira says.

"I know how," Hana says.

Hana then calls out, "Bulbasaur."

Bulbasaur walks into the room and asks, "Bulbasaur?" (You called?)

Hana kneels to Bulbasaur, "Bulbasaur, I need you to use Sleep Powder on Dodrio so it will sleep while the boys and I perform the treatment."

"Bulbasaur," (Understood.) Bulbasaur says.

Dodrio makes a skeptic tone from their crowing.

Hana pets the middle head and says, "It's okay. It will be only temporary. The sleep powder will make sure you don't feel the pain of the treatment."

The bird Pokemon understands and allows the treatment to continue. Hana nods her head to Bulbasaur and the grass Pokemon performs Sleep Powder on Dodrio. Dodrio soon begins to feel drowsy as it lays its three heads on the treatment table. Soon, the Pokemon is fast asleep.

"There we go, now we can perform the treatment," Hana says.

Then turns to her friends, "Chase, you and Pikachu help me with Dodrio. Akira, you and Alistair see if there's any more Pokemon that needs treatment."

"Got it," Akira says, and hurries out to treat more Pokemon.

Chase walks to Hana and Pikachu hops on the table. Soon, the three begin to help Dodrio by untying their necks from each other.

Meanwhile, Diana and the others begin treatment on the other Pokemon. Diana, Pichu, and Chansey help with Hitmonlee's leg. Akira and Gary put some potion and bandages on a Nidoking and a Sandslash. Hana's Chansey and the Nurse Chansey are tending a Weezing. Hana also tends a Parasect. At the same time, Dr. Proctor continues to sleep throughout the entire event.

Time has gone by, and Hana along with her friends and Pokemon are able to get the Pokemon treated. Hana is looking over the clipboard that has the listing of all the Pokemon.

Gary sighs in exhaustion, "That was tiring. I have no idea Nurser Joy had to treat this many Pokemon."

"I know what you mean. Nurse Joy must have a big job to do to treat so many different types of Pokemon," Diana says.

"True. But it does make it worth it once all the Pokemon are treated," Chase says.

"Yeah. All the Pokemon have been treated and are resting in some of the medical rooms. Everything is fine," Akira says.

Hana looks over the list and notices, "Not all of them…"

Diana and the boys look at Hana with confused expressions.

"What do you mean?" Akira asks.

"I was looking over the list of the Pokemon we're supposed to treat, but there seems to be one missing," Hana says.

The others gasp in shock.

With that, Hana and the others, including the Chansey and other Pokemon begin the search for the missing Pokemon. They learn in the many treatment rooms, lobbies, and other places they can think of. So far, they are having trouble finding the missing Pokemon. Diana passes one of the open rooms, but stops to notice something. She walks back to the room to see something in there.

Diana calls out, "Hey guys, I think I found it."

Hana, Gary, Chase, Akira, and the two Pikachu, Winnie, and Shippo hurry to the room to see the missing Pokemon. The Pokemon is a small, white squirrel-like Pokémon with a faint purplish tint and a light pink stripe starting from its forehead and goes all the way down to the tip of the tail. A large white tooth grows out of its mouth. It has deep gray eyes and a dark yellow circle on each cheek. Its tail is almost twice as big as its body, with three spikes at the top of the curl, and the arms and legs are very short.

Hana notices something's wrong. It looks weak and sick. It seems to have redness on its face and sparks of blue electricity sprouts out of its cheeks.

"That must be a missing Pokemon," Gary says.

"It's a Pachirisu. I've never seen one before," Chase says.

"I've seen a Pacharisu before, and that one is a different color. It must be a Shiny Pokemon," Diana says.

"But something is very wrong with it. It looks very sick," Hana says, and gently walks ahead to help the Pokemon.

Diana says, "Be careful Hana, that Pokemon seems to be electric."

She takes out her Pokedex and Dexter says, "Pachirisu, the Electric Squirrel Pokémon. It makes electricity with pouches in its cheeks and shoots charges from its tail. It lives atop trees."

Hana gently kneels down to the Pokemon and feels its forehead.

"Pachirisu is having a very high fever," Hana says.

Hana also notices that its right leg is swollen, "And it seems to have inflammation on it's leg."

"You mean it's hurt… and it's sick," Diana says, concerned.

"I think it's more than that," Hana says.

The little Pachirisu opens it's small eyes and begins to shake in fear at the sight of it. It tries to move back or use it's electricity, but it's too weak to do anything.

Hana calmly says, "It's okay Pachirisu. We're here to help you."

Pachirisu slowly shakes its head and continues to shake in fear. It slowly turns it's body so its tail will face Hana.

"Don't worry Pachirisu. My friends and I are here to help you. We can help you feel better," Hana says with reassurance.

Pachirisu turns its head slowly to see Hana holding a gentle and sweet smile on her face. Pachirisu gently becomes relieved and allows Hana to pick it up. Hana pets Pachirisu gently on the head with her fingers to comfort it. Despite the sickness and the pain, Pachirsisu feels secured in Hana's arms.

Hana stands and turns to the others, "Okay. We got a sick Pokemon. We'll need to work fast."

In another treatment room, Hana has Pachirisu placed on a treatment table that has a small pillow for it. Winter uses Ice Beam on a bucket of water and Cubone bangs his bone on the ice so they will break into chunks. Diana places the ice in a plastic bag and passes it to Hana. Hana takes the bag and places it gently on Pachirisu's forehead. Gary and Akira find small blankets for Pachirisu and pass some to Hana. Hana places the blanket on the Pokemon, but has it's tail exposed. Hana then examines Pachirisu and sees the sparks on it.

"Hmm, I wonder," Hana says.

"Did you find something?" Akira asks.

"I think it's possible that Pachirisu is experiencing an Electrical Overcharge. It happens to electric types sometimes. It's when the electricity builds up and causes a high fever, and it can cause great pain to them as well," Hana says.

"Is there any way to help it?" Diana asks.

"Yes. We need an electrical device that can take out Pachirisu overcharged electricity. Then we should give it some medicine along with an oran berry to help. It will also be a good idea to get some potion and bandage wrap for the injured food. Along with apples, just in case it might be hungry," Hana says.

"I'll get the device," Gary says.

"I'll find some medicine," Chase says.

"I'll find the Oran berries and apples," Akira says.

"I'll find the Potion and bandage wraps," Diana says.

Everyone else hurries out of the room and moments later, they return with all the supplies. The electrical device, medicine, oran berries and apples, along with a potion and bandage wraps for its inflammation.

Hana holds the decision and says to the others, "Alright, everyone get clear."

Then Hana gently places the two rods on Pachirisu's tail. The electricity absorbs out of its body, but causes it pain. Soon, the fever is gone and Pachrisu wakes up.

Hana then holds a small pill, "This pill will help you regulate your voltage. Now down the hatch."

Pachirisu eats the pill and swallows it.

"There you go. You'll feel better in no time," Hana says.

"Pacha," (Thank you.) Pachirisu weakly says. Then falls asleep.

"Alright now, that it's resting we can start with the injured food. Gary, can you help me with the treatment," Hana says.

"Okay," Gary says.

Then Hana turns to the others, "Diana, can you make the mashed oran berry and Akira, make some mashed apple."

"Okay," Diana says.

"We'll take care of it," Akira replies.

Soon, the two head off to make the mashed foods.

Hana then tells Chase, "Chase, you, Chansey and the rest of the Pokemon check out the observation of the other Pokemon."

"Got it," Chase says.

Chase, Chansey, and some of the Pokemon head out to check on the injured Pokemon. Diana, and Akira make the mashed Oran Berry and mashed apple. Hana and Gary take care of Pachirisu's little foot. Gary sprays a bit of the antidote on the leg and Hana wraps it up gently. Diana, and Akira have finished with the mashed apple and Oran berry.

Hana feeds Pachirisu the mashed Oran berry, and since it's hungry, Hana also feeds it mashed apple. Pachirisu enjoys the berry and apple, and soon falls back asleep to get some rest.

Time has gone by, and all the Pokemon are in medical rooms resting after their treatments, Pachirisu also feels better and is laying down in a medical bed. Finally, Dr. Proctor has woken up from his nap to see all the Pokemon have been treated. Soon, he meets with Hana and the others.

Dr. Proctor says, "Thank you all for your assistance, especially when I was knocked out for a while."

"You're welcome, Doctor," Diana says.

"We're just glad we're able to help those injured Pokemon," Hana says.

Dr. Proctor says, "I just received a call from Nurse Joy and she told me that all the trainers who have their Pokemon are all coming by tomorrow to pick them up. All except one."

"Who is it?" Chase asks.

"It's a Shiny Pachirisu. According to Officer Jenny, that Pokemon has been caught in the wild somewhere in the Sinnoh Region, so it doesn't have a trainer. However, I can see it decides to have a trainer already," Dr. Proctor says.

Hana and the others become confused until Hana feels something snuggling at her leg. She looks down to see the little Pachirisu hugging Hana by her leg and snuggling her.

"Well, looks like Pachirisu wants to go with you," Chase says.

Hana kneels to Pachirisu, "So Pachirisu, do you want to come travel with me."

Pachirisu smiles with glee and climbs on Hana's shoulder.

"I'll take that as a yes," Hana says.

Soon, Hana and her friends are outside of the hospital and say their goodbyes.

Dr. Proctor says, "You all did an excellent job everyone, especially you, Hana. Have you ever thought about becoming a doctor for Pokemon? You have a real nack for it."

"A Pokemon doctor huh. I'll think about it, but first, I like to travel and train to be a great trainer and a great breeder," Hana says.

"We all have our journeys ahead of us," Diana says.

"And we all have dreams to follow," Chase says.

"We better get going," Akira says.

"I'm sure you'll will continue to follow your dreams and become whatever you wish to be," Dr. Proctor says.

Hana and the others say goodbye to the doctor and the Chansey. Gary then heads off on his own path to train some more. Hana also has a brand new Pokemon accompany her. The group is happy to have helped the injured Pokemon, and Hana feels more determined to help any Pokemon she will come across, and strong determination to become a great Pokemon breeder. As the journey continues.
