Episode 67: So Near, Yet so Farfetch'd

Hana and her friends have been on the road for a while now. So, they decide to take a little break in a beautiful meadow. Hana, Diana, and Akira watch as Pikachu, Alistar, and some of their Pokemon play together. Diana is also cleaning her Pokemon egg, and really wishes it will hatch. Chase tells the other about a rumor that a rare Pokemon in the area, of course Chase actually has one.

"A Farfetch'd huh?" Hana asks.

"Yeah. There's been a rumor that one's been spotted near here," Chase says.

Hana brings out her Pokedex, and Dexter says, "Farfetch'd, a Wild Duck Pokemon. Farfetch'd makes a delicious meal, especially when cooked with leek. Because of this, Farfetch'd is nearly extinct."

"I don't feel comfortable about Pokemon being eaten," Hana says, feeling a little sick.

"Yeah, but you don't have to worry about that, Farfetch'd are considered endanger Pokemon so they're forbidden to eat or sell," Chase says

"There's supposed to be a spring nearby and we need to get some water. Anyone want to come?" Akira replies.

"Yeah! I'll go with you!" Hana says.

"I'll go too," Chase says.

Diana passes Hana her canteen, "Will you get some for me? Pretty please, Hana?"

"Sure, Diana," Hana says.

Then turns to her Pokemom, "Pikachu, Dratinis, Pachirisu, Cubone. Let's go."

"Alistair, Winnie, Shippo. You want to get some water?" Akira calls out.

The Pokemon then hurry to their trainers and head off with then, leaving little Pichu by itself.

Diana calls out, "Thanks, you guys!"

She sits on the stump and lets out a sigh, "My legs are tired from walking."

Pichu hops on Diana's lap and soon begins to fall asleep.

"I guess it's back in the Pokeball and have a nap," Diana says.

Suddenly, Diana hears something. At first, she thinks she imagines it. But then, she hears it again.

That causes her to worry, "Huh? Who is that?! Who's there?!"

Diana looks behind her and finds the source of the noise. What she sees is a Farfetch'd marching towards her.

Diana is surprised, yet amazed, "Wow! I don't believe it! That's Farfetch'd, the rare Pokemon!"

Farfetch'd does a little performance for Diana, by using it's leek. It twirls it's leek like a baton and tosses it in the air. Then catch it. After that, it gives her a peace sign.

"Ha! That's the coolest Pokemon ever! I just have to catch it," Diana says, excited.

Suddenly, the Farfetch'd runs into the woods.

Diana calls out, "Hey! Wait! Please, don't run away!"

Diana calls Pichu back in her Pokeball and places her egg in her backpack.

Then chases after it, "Wait! Come back, Farfetch'd!"

Diana chases after it as she calls out, "Little Farfetch'd?! Where are you hiding?! Come out, Farfetch'd!"

Suddenly, Farfetch'd appears from behind a rock.

"There it is!" Diana happily says.

Farfetch'd then runs away again.

"Hey, wait! Come back, little Farfetch'd!" Diana calls out and chases after it.

"Hold on! Please, wait for me! I won't hurt you, Farfetch'd!" Diana calls out.

However, the Pokemon keeps running and Diana continues to chase after it.

"That Farfetch'd sure runs fast," Diana says.

The Farfetch'd then runs around the corner, and Diana soon follows after it. Suddenly she bumps into someone.

"Ow! That hurt!" A voice of a boy says.

Turns out, Diana has bumps into a boy that has brown hair with a down ponytail. He is wearing a red shirt with a pink stripe, green, shorts, and blue shoes.

He notices Diana and says, "I'm sorry, are you okay?"

Then the boy helps Diana up on her feet.

"Yeah," Diana says.

The boy says, "It's my fault. I wasn't looking where I was going."

"Well, I wasn't paying attention either. I was chasing a Pokemon," Diana says.

"Oh," The boy replies and picks up Diana's backpack.

Then passes it to her, "Here you go."

"Thanks," Diana says.

"See ya!" The boy says, and runs off.

"Bye!" Diana says.

Diana sighs and says, "Looks like Farfetch'd is long gone now. I better get back to the others."

Soon, enough, Hana and the others turn to see Diana, "Hey, there she is.

Diana sighs, "Oh, how could I let it get away?"

"Diana! Where'd you run off to?" Hana asks.

"Well, I found a Farfetch'd and tried to capture it, but it got away," Diana says.

"You tried to capture it?!" The group says, shocked.

"Yes Anyway, Farfetch'd is an incredible Pokemon," Diana says.

She sighs and says, "It's so cute when it twirls its leek like a baton."

"Sounds cool," Akira says.

Hana passes Diana her canteen, "Here. I've brought you your water."

"Thanks, Hana," Diana says.

Diana then opens her backpack to put it back inside, but gasps to see a shocking surprise.

"What's wrong?" Akira asks.

"Pikachu Pi?" (Are you okay, Diana?) Alistair asks.

"I must have picked up the wrong backpack! Look!" Diana panics.

She dumps out her backpack to reveal a bunch of rocks that are rolled up in the newspaper.

Meanwhile, the boy has Diana's real backpack and laughs, "Just like taking candy from a baby, eh, Farfetch'd?"

Farfetch'd agrees.

He opens the backpack and says, "Now, let's see what's inside. Six Pokeballs and a Pokemon Egg? This must be all of her Pokemon."

He laughs, and says, "Now, they're mine."

Back at the meadow, Diana explains the group the entire story.

"So let me get this straight. You were chasing after the Farfetch'd and you bumped into some kid?" Akira asks.

"That must've been when the backpacks were switched!" Chase says.

"How could this happen?! I had six of my Pokemon I ever caught in that backpack and my Pokemon egg is still in there! What's more, my Contest Ribbons, my Contest Card, my stones, and anything I have in that backpack are in there!" Diana says and begins to cry.

Hana kneels down and reassures her, "Don't worry Diana, we'll find your backpack and that boy. And we'll make sure to get all of your stuff and Pokemon back."

Diana wipes the tears from her face and says, still upset, "Thank you guys."

"It will help if we go over the facts of what happened," Chase says.

Akira begins to think out loud, "Hmmm, Farfetch'd came and performed a trick. You then chased it into the woods and bump into the boy. He helped out and gave you what looks like your backpack and walked off. What's more the Farfetch'd disappeared. Hmm, something doesn't sound right."

"On top of that, the backpack is filled with rocks wrapped in old newspaper," Chase says.

"But I'm sure that the boy must have taken my backpack by mistake," Diana says.

Hana begins to think and hasn't said a word.

Chase says, "Maybe, but why would he have rocks and news appearing inside."

"Not only that, but you ran into that boy as soon as Farfetch'd turned to the corner and disappeared," Akira says.

"I guess. The boy left and I noticed Farfetch'd was gone, and that's when my backpack was switched by accident," Diana says.

But Hana says, "Or not by accident at all."

Diana and the others look at Hana with confused expressions.

"What do you mean?" Chase asks.

"Like I said, what if what happened was no accident but was planned out," Hana says.

"I think I know what Hana means. Think of it, you saw a Farfetch'd and performed a trick. Then you followed it deep in the woods. When you turned around the corner, you bump into the boy and Farfetch'd was already gone. And he gave you the backpack. When you come back you find that the backpack is full of rocks with newspaper. I'm thinking this isn't a coincidence," Akira says.

"What are you saying?" Chase asks.

"What we're saying is that the boy Diana ran into stole Diana's real backpack with her Pokemon, the Egg and all her stuff, and switched it with a fake," Hana says.

"And that Farfetch'd was actually that boy's Pokemon, and actually lured Diana to where that boy was waiting for a switch," Akira says.

"In other words, those two had Diana lured into the woods so they could switch the backpack and stole all her backpack with all her Pokemon and stuff right from under her nose," Hana says.

Diana gasps in shock, "Oh no!"

"And since the rumor of Farfetch'd has been seen around here, it's possible that those two have already stolen backpacks from other trainers who came by here," Akira suspects.

"But how are we going to know where he went?" Diana says.

"Let's see if Officer Jenny knows," Chase says.

The group nods their heads and hurry off to find Officer Jenny. Soon enough, they are able to find Officer Jenny and explain to them about the situation.

Diana finishes her story and says, "And then he ran off. And that's when my backpack was switched."

"And we suspected that the boy and his Farfetch stole Diana's backpack and have done it to other trainers," Hana says.

Officer Jenny says, "I'm afraid that you're right, that was no accident."

"So it has happened before?" Akira asks.

"That's right, your friend is the fifth victim of the backpack switching thief this week," Jenny says.

Then walks to a poster that has a picture of a Farfetch that reads, 'Beware of this Pokemon' "She was tricked by that boy and his Farfetch'd."

"Jenny, you have to help me! That thief and Farfetch'd stole my backpack with my Pokemon, Egg, ribbons, and everything else I had!" Diana begs.

"I've been trying to track him down for a while, but he never stays in one place. He's a slippery one, that kid," Jenny says.

Hana turns to Diana and says, "Maybe if we go to the place where your backpack has been switched, it might give us an idea of where he could be."

"It's worth a try," Jenny says.

Meanwhile, the thief and his Farfetch'd are sitting by a campfire.

"We've been together for a long time, Farfetch'd. Right after I found you injured on the road and nursed you back to health, we started stealing," The boy, and Farfetch'd agreed.

Then the boy says, "I wish there was some other way for us to get by, but, how else are we ever gonna survive? We're just too weak to battle."

Farfetch'd replies.

Meanwhile in the tent, Diana's backpack slightly opens and a Pokemon comes out of it. It's revealed to be Pichu. Pichu looks around to see he is in an unfamiliar area. Pichu then looks out of the tent to see a boy and Farfetch'd. Pichu soon becomes scared, but feels that he needs to find Diana. While the boy and Farfetch'd aren't looking, Pichu runs off into the woods to find his trainer.

Meanwhile, Diana shows the group where she runs into the boy and the backpack has been switched.

"This is it! This is the place I ran into him," Diana says.

"Maybe he lives somewhere nearby," Akira says.

Diana sadly says, "Oh, I can't believe he stole everything I had, especially all my Pokemon and my egg. Ember, Swablu, Pichu Clefair, and Jigglypuff."

"Don't worry Diana, we're going to find him and get everything back," Akira says.

"Yeah. He's not going to get away with this," Chase says.

"We'll teach that kid a lesson," Hana says.

Suddenly, they hear a cry, "Pichu!" (Mommy!)

Hana turns to the others, "Hey, did you guys hear that!"

The group stops and hears another cry, "Pichu!"

Chase looks down the path, "Guys, look there!"

The group looks down the path to see the tiny mouse Pokemon running towards them.

Diana happily says in tears, "Pichu!"

Diana runs to Pichu as Pichu sees Diana and runs at top speed. Then jumps right into her arms.

"Oh, I'm so happy to see you!" Diana says, and hugs Pichu.

Then says, "I missed you so much, but how did you get back here?"

"Pichu," (I escaped.) Pichu says.

Diana asks, "Where's my backpack, now?"

"Pichu Pichu." (With a boy and a Farfetch'd.) Pichu answers.

"Pichu said it's with the boy and Farfetch'd. Those are the thieves," Hana says.

"What about the other Pokemon?" Diana asks.

"Pichu," (With the thief.) Pichu answers.

"They're still where the thief is," Hana says.

"Where did he take you?" Diana asks.

Pichu points to the path, "Pichu." (That way.)

"That way," Diana says.

She then puts Pichu down, "Okay Pichy, lead the way."

"Pichu," (Okay.) Pichu says.

Pichu then leads Hana and the others down the road until they reach a fork that goes left and right.

"Okay, Pichu. Tell us which way to go. Left, or right," Diana says.

Pichu points to the left path, "Pichu." (The left.)

"To the left?" Chase says, confused.

"Are you sure?" Diana asks.

Pichu nods his head, "Pi," (Yes.)

"Then let's go," Diana says.

Meanwhile, the thief is packing one of his bags full of the Pokeballs he has stolen and the Egg, and prepares to move on.

"We keep getting more Pokemon," The boy says, and Farfetch'd agrees.

The the boy says, "Well, if we meet someone on the road, we'll just have to take their Pokemon, too."

Farfetch'd agrees.

Meanwhile, Pichu leads Diana and the others to the bushes and soon finds the boy and Farfetch'd

"Pichu Pichu," (There he is.) Pichu says.

Diana looks and recognizes him, "That's the kid!"

Then hugs Pichu, "Good work, Pichu. You find him!"

"Pichu." (Thank you.) Pichu happily says.

Well, I guess we better get going," The boy says, holding the bags.

Farfetch'd agrees.

Suddenly, Hana with Piachu, Diana and Pichy step forward.

Hana sternly sas, "Hold it right there!"

"Give me back my Pokemon and my backpack, you thief!" Diana says.

Pikachu angrily says, "Pika Pika!" (Hand them over!)

"Pichu!" (Right now!) Pichu says.

"Oh no!" The boy panics and tries to run away, but finds Akira, Chase and Officer Jenny. Alistair, Winnie, and Shippo are there as well.

"Don't try to run! You're surrounded!" Akira says.

Officer Jenny says, "You're under arrest for grand theft Pokemon!"

"Your crime spree is over!" Chase says.

"What makes you think it was okay to lie and cheat people so you could steal their Pokemon? It takes a lot of love and care to raise Pokemon. We worked real hard to train them all to win their Pokemon battles!" Hana says.

"That's right!" Diana says.

Jenny says, "Maybe we should start off by showing this kid just how difficult a Pokemon match is!"

"Good idea!" Chase says.

"Sounds good to me," Hana says.

The boy becomes confused, "Huh?"

"That's right! A battle!" Diana says.

"Pichu," (Let's battle.) Pichu says.

The boy quickly says in a panic, "Wait a minute! Farfetch'd is too weak. We have no other choice!"

"Hmm, what's your name, anyway?" Hana asks.

The boy answers, "Keith."

"Well Keith, what you think isn't true at all. Pokemon will become stronger with trainers who'll work with them," Hana says.

But Keith says, "But Farfetch'd isn't…"

Yet Farfetch'd decides to step forward and accept the battle.

"Huh? You mean, you want to battle?" Keith asks, surprised.

Farfetch'd turns to the boy and answers, "Far Farfetch'd!" (Yes, I do!)

"Sounds good to me, now who is going to be your opponent," Hana says.

Suddenly, Pichu steps forward, "Pichu Pichu," (I'll battle against Farfetch'd.)

"Pichu?" Diana asks, surprised.

Farfetch'd steps onto the battlefield.

"I think those two really want to battle," Hana says.

Keith calls out, "Wait! Farfetch'd!"

"Pichu, are you sure?" Diana asks.

Just then, Pichu charges towards Farfetch'd with Quick Attack, but the bird Pokemon jumps over the charging Pokemon. Pichu tries again and the same result happens.

Keith cries out, "Farfetch'd, stop!"

Pichu then uses Thunderbolt to attack Farfetch'd and it's a direct hit.

Keith cries out, "Farfetch'd, no!"

Pichu then uses Quick attack and charges at Farfetch'd

Keith cries out, "Please, stop, Farfetch'd! You can't win this!"

Suddenly, Farfetch'd begins to reflect the attacks of Thunderbolt with its leek, surprisingly everyone, especially Keith. Pichu then tries to use Thunderbolt, but Farfetch'd dodges all the attacks.

"What's that?" Diana asks.

"It's Farfetch'd's Agility!" Chase says.

Pichu says, shocked, "Pika!" (No way!)

"I didn't know Farfetch'd could do that," Keith says.

Pichu and Farfetch'd continue to use their speed to dodge each other's attack. Farfetch'd is able to strike at Pichu with the leek. Finally, Farfetch'd swings its leek like a bat and slams Pichu to the ground.

Diana hurries to Pichu and asks, "Pichu are you okay?"

Pichu slowly stands up,"Pichu." (I'm okay.)

"I never knew Farfetch'd had attacks like that!" Keith says, and leaves everyone confused.

"You really didn't know about its powers?" Diana asks.

"No. If I had known it was this strong, I wouldn't have used it to steal," Keith says.

"This is why you should never judge a Pokemon by the way it looks," Hana says.

Pichu then stands up and begins to walk towards Farfetch'd

"Pichu, what are you doing?" Diana asks.

"I think Pichu still wants to battle," Hana says.

"But… but why?" Diana asks.

Chase steps in, "I think I know. Pichu wants to beat Farfetch'd so he can help you get all your things back. That because he knows having him and the other Pokemon, and even your ribbons means a lot to you."

"I agree. Pichu wants to continue battling until he gets your things back," Hana says.

Diana turns to Pichu, and asks, "Is that true?"

"Pichu. Pichu Pichu Pichu," It's true. I want to beat Farfetch'd and get our friends and our ribbons back," Pichu says, weak, yet determined to fight."

Diana smiles, "Thanks Pichu. Let's continue with the battle and teach this kid a lesson."

"Pichu," (You got it.) Pichu says.

Suddenly, Pichu begins to glow bright white and blue, and soon begins to grow in size.

Diana becomes surprised, "Pichu…"

"Pichu is…" Hana says.

"Pichu is evolving," Akira adds.

Pichu continues to glow and grow as it evolves. Soon, Pichu has evolved into Pikachu and is showing a determined smile on his face. The only thing different is that it has a black lightning bolt on the tip of its tail.

"Pichu evolved into Pikachu," Chase says.

Diana brings out her Pokedex, "You go Pichu…. I mean, Piakchu."

Diana opens her Pokedex and Dexter, "Pikachu, the Mouse Pokémon, and the evolved form of Pichu. It stores electricity in the electric sacs on its cheeks. When it releases pent-up energy in a burst, the electric power is equal to a lightning bolt."

"Alright Pikachu, you evolved and it appears you learned a new move.. Let's continue with the battle," Diana says.

Diana's new Pikachu charges for the battle. Farfetch'd charges as well. Farfetch'd slams the stick at Pikachu, but Pikachu dodges the attack. Farfetch'd performs it's agility while Pikachu performs his Quick Attack.

"Wow! Look at them go," Chase says.

"I have no clue Farfetch'd can do that," Keith says.

"I can say the same about Pichu. He really has grown since he just evolved," Diana says.

Farfetch'd then swings his leek that slams Pikachu and sends him to the ground.

"Pikachu!" Diana panics.

Diana's Pikachu stands up and sends a powerful electric charge on his tail. Hana, and the others, including the Pikachus are shocked to see what Diana's Pikachu is doing. Diana's Pikachu lets out a battle cry as his tail creates a ball of electricity and throws it with his tail. Farfetch'd soon gets a direct hit from Pikachu and slams into Keith. Then they both slam into the tree. Soon, the battle is over, and Diana's newly evolved Pikachu has won.

Later, Hana and the others including Keith accompany Officer Jenny to the police station. He returns all the Pokemon he has stolen, including Diana's backpack with her Pokemon, egg, and ribbons.

Keith bows his head and apologizes, "Forgive me. I'll give back all the Pokemon I stole."

"None of the victims in the area are going to press charges, since they all got their Pokemon back," Jenny says.

Keith says in replief, "That's good."

"It's great to have my old backpack back!" Diana happily says.

"And I hope you learn a lesson Keith," Hana says.

"You're right. It was wrong to steal. And it was wrong not to believe in Farfetch'd," Keith says.

Farfetch'd says, Fetch'd Far Far! (Now that's better!)

"Now, I'm gonna train Farfetch'd to become even stronger!" Keith says.

"Great! That's the way it should be!" Hana says.

"Now, you see that Pokemon can be anything a good trainer wants it to be," Chase says.

"Yeah. Thanks a lot," Keith says.

"Farfetch'd Farfetch'd" (Yeah. Thanks a lot.) Farfetch'd says.

Then Keith turns to Farfetch'd, "Let's go Farfetch'd."

"Farfetch'd," (Right.) Farfetch'd answers.

Soon, Kieth and Farfetch'd start to walk away.

"See ya. Let's go, Farfetch'd," Keith says, as he and Farfetch'd depart to start their journey from scratch.

Diana waves, "Good luck, you two!"

"Take care!" Akira says.

"Goodbye," Hana says.

Hana and the others see Keith and Farfetch'd head off to begin their new journey and train and capture their Pokemon the right way. It's thanks to Pichu, who has now evolved into a Pikachu, Diana has all her belongings returned to her. They also learn an important lesson about honesty, bravery, and trust between trainer and Pokemon. As the journey continues.
