-End of AN-

Liz threw herself down on the couch in exhaustion, embracing the feel of the soft cushions underneath her and she let out a heavy breath.

She loved her new daughter, but Lauren- like all new babies- are a lot of work. She was on leave from work but it hardly felt like a vacation. She cherished the time with her daughter, but after being woken up multiple times in the night by her cries, she was embracing the fact her daughter had just fallen asleep.

She knew the saying: When the babies sleep, you should sleep. She'd dealt with it before with her sons, and it was no different with Lauren. With her sons off at school, and Franco back at work again it was just her, the baby, and exhaustion.

Just as she was about to close her eyes and commit to the possibility of a nap- baby monitor by her side- she is awoken by a noise. No, not a baby crying, but the phone blaring.

She groaned as she sat up and went over to the phone, just hoping whoever it was didn't wake up Lauren. She pressed the talk button and placed it to her ear.

"Hello?" She answered, slightly bothered.

"Hey, Liz." The voice on the phone said back. Liz did a double take at it, not sure she was right.

"Sarah?" Liz asked. "Is that you?"

"Yeah." She answered back. "I know we haven't spoken in a while but I wanted to check in on you.."

"Okay…" Liz said cautiously, curious. "Kinda random?"

"It's just that I recently had something happen that was pretty eye opening that you should really cherish life." Sarah told her.

"Are you okay?" Liz asked her, concerned as she picked up the phone and took it with her back to the couch where she figured she could at least sit down.

"Yeah, I luckily didn't get hurt too bad." Sarah said. "You see I was leaving the night shift at the hospital and I was taking the back steps to the parking lot cause the one elevator was out of order and it was really crowded and out of nowhere this man attacked me."

"Oh my god!" Liz exclaimed.

"He grabbed me and luckily someone just a floor up opened up the doors to the stairs and was walking down. Scared him off but he still managed to bruise up my arms from his grip, not to mention the fact that he threw me down as he feld. Messed up my ankle trying to not fall down the steps when he threw me."

"That's so horrible! You went to the police, right?" Liz pushed her on.

"Yeah." Sarah told her. "They can't determine what the motive was, but unfortunately as a women there's a multitude of reasons he could have grabbed me."

Liz shuddered at that mention. She didn't say rape, nor was that the only reason he might have grabbed her but her mind couldn't help but go there as a victim. She knew Sarah didn't mean to but her throat caught in the memories and hoped Sarah would just start talking again so she could move on and get it out of her mind.

"They said they probably won't be able to find him. They just told me to not take the steps next time. Can you believe that?" Sarah scoffed.

"Sadly, yeah." Liz sighed. "Why can't they find him, you gave a description right?"

"What description? He wore a mask." Sarah responded. "It's just had me wondering about all the what-ifs and it's been pretty crazy. Between that and the fact you had your baby I just figured we were overdue to talk."

"Yeah." Liz told her. They weren't ever gonna be on perfect terms, but she was glad they could at least be like this.

"Oh shoot!" Sarah exclaimed on the other end. "I'm on call and the hospital is calling me...call you back?"

"Sure."

"Okay, bye Liz!" Sarah said, hanging up before Liz could even respond.

Oh well. At least she could get that nap. Or she thought once again before she heard a knock on the door. Thank god they didn't ring the loud doorbell. She got up and went over to open it, revealing her other sister, Hayden.

"Hey, hope you don't mind a no notice drop in, but in case you did I brought lunch! BLT's from Kelly's."

"Mmm, that does sound good." Liz agreed as she looked at the take out bag Hayden held up. "Come, in."

"How's that cute little niece of mine?" Hayden asked her, smiling at the thought of the cute little gir she'd been loving spending time with. Violet had also grown to love her baby cousin which only made her even sweeter to have around.

"Sleeping." Liz told her. "So you'll have to see her another time."

"Well that's okay, we can have some sister bonding time!" Hayden shrugged smiling and started to unpack the lunch she brought for them.

"Speaking of sisters, Sarah called me a minute ago." Liz told her as she grabbed some cups from the top cabinet to get them some drinks.

"Sarah, who?" Hayden asked confused.

"Uh, Sarah, our sister." Liz explained.

"Oh, right." Hayden realized. "It's not like i've ever met her or even talked to her though. I know you two barely talk."

"Yeah well she got attacked the other day and just said it kinda opened her eyes." Liz shrugged. She wasn't gonna pretend they were perfect. Her and Hayden were way better then them and considering their beginning that said a lot.

"That's horrible." Hayden sympathized. "I'm just glad everyone I love is safe."

"Me too." Liz said, comforted by the fact. If it could just stay that way forever she'd be good.
