Hosu City, Urban District- The area has been transformed as several carnival games line the streets, with people competing to win an assortment of prices. Crowds have also gathered to watch performers such as jugglers and fire breathers display their skills as well as at food stalls, picking up snacks such as popcorn, teriyaki and cotton candy.
However, at the centre of it all, in a nearby park is a large circus tent, with several people line up in front of a man behind a ticket booth before heading inside.
The people take their seats in the stands, filling the arena up. The lights dim, leaving everyone in darkness.
The Ringmaster walks into the centre of the arena, a spotlight illuminates him.
Ringmaster: Welcome ladies and gentlemen, to the show of a lifetime!
The crowd cheers and clap in applause.
Ringmaster: We have mesmerising performances, death defying acts and a display of Quirks like you have never seen before!
Another spotlight illuminates the top of a wooden platform. A young woman with cat-like features in a leopard-printed leotard waves to the people below.
Ringmaster: For our first act, witness the acrobatic prowess of Lady Neko as she performs her trapeze routine twenty meters above water! Remember boys and girls, cats always land on their feet, but they hate to get wet!
The Ringmaster gestures to the floor, a large pool of water emerges from underneath the arena. The crowd coo in awe.
The woman grabs hold of a trapeze bar and leaps off the platform. She swings in the air before letting go and grabbing hold of another bar suspended in the air. The audience watch with excited eyes, their breath taken away.
She lets go of the second bar and does a back flip, using her legs to hook onto a third bar on a second platform at the other side of the arena.
The woman continues to swing between the bars, occasionally doing an assortment of flips, twirls and poses in the air, much to the delight of the crowd.
Suddenly, as the woman swings from one of the trapeze bars, it disappears in a flash of blue light. The audience gasp in shock as the she falls down and lands into the water below.
SPLASH.
The Ringmaster, though shocked himself, attempts to calm down the crowd.
Ringmaster: It's alright everyone, Lady Neko's fine, I assure you. But for now we'll take a short intermission…
He is interrupted as another spotlight comes on, lighting the arena floor. A voice can be heard, though its origin is unclear.
?: Nonsense! The show must go on! We interrupt tonight's entertainment to bring the people of Hosu, for one night only, the amazing, the magical, the great showman, Mr Compress!
A puff of smoke erupts from the arena; the masked criminal emerges from it, holding his hands up to the crowd.
Mr Compress: Ta-Da!
The crowd screams in terror.
Mr Compress is taken aback by the response.
Compress: What's wrong? You're not supposed to be screaming yet. We haven't reached that part in the routine!
The Ringmaster bravely confronts Mr Compress.
Ringmaster: What the hell do you think you're doing, sir?! We won't be terrorised by-
Compress smacks him across the face, knocking him to the floor.
Compress: Oh hush you!
At that moment a circus strongman emerges from backstage and charges at the villain.
Strongman: That's it pal! You're out of here!
Mr Compress pulls out a marble from his waistcoat pocket. It transforms into a sledgehammer.
Grasping the handle, Mr Compress brings it down on the strongman's foot, crushing it. The strongman then yells in pain.
Strongman: Aarrgh!
Compress swings the hammer again, knocking the strongman down.
A posse of clowns then join the fight, surrounding Mr Compress.
The villain then tosses two marbles onto the floor. The marbles burst, and a pair of lions appear in the middle of the arena.
Compress: Allow me to introduce my assistants for the night, courtesy of the Kyushu African Lion Safari!
The lions attempt to climb their way into the stands, much to the horror of the audience members.
Compress: Don't worry ladies and gentlemen; they're just starved for attention… and food. The poor things haven't eaten all week!
One of the lions manages to climb over the wall and corners a young couple.
Compress: So please, feel free to feed them!
The second lion pounces on one of the clowns, pinning him to the floor as the others flee.
As the beasts continue on their rampage, the screaming audience flee from the tent.
Dazed, the Ringmaster begins to crawl away whilst struggling to pick himself off the ground
Mr Compress walks up to him and places a hand on his shoulder.
Compress: Why in such a rush friend?
He activates his Quirk, trapping the Ringmaster in a blue marble.
Compress: We can't have you missing out on the showstopper!
Mr Compress pulls out another marble from his pocket and it transforms into a large cannon.
He angles the weapon upwards and places the marble inside.
Outside, the tent, several police officers and pro heroes have gathered round, escorting civilians to safety and preparing to raid the arena.
There is suddenly a large explosion that tears through the roof of the tent.
KABOOM.
Everyone is taken aback as they see the Ringmaster fly through the air, screaming.
Mr Compress exits from his tent and takes an exaggerated bow.
Compress: Thank you! Thank you! Tonight has truly been wonderful!
The police aim their guns at him.
The villain drops a marble onto the floor. It explodes into a puff of smoke.
After it clears, it is revealed that Mr Compress has now disappeared.
Sometime later, Mr Compress returns to the League of Villain's hideout. He is approached by Twice, who looks at him curiously.
Twice: Hey Compress, where the hell have you been? Why'd you come back?!
Compress takes his mask off, exposing his face to Twice.
Compress: Didn't you hear friend?
He smiles wickedly.
Compress: The circus was in town.
End.
This idea came to me and I hope people enjoyed it as much as I did writing it.
