Hey readers! (If there are any haha). This fic is inspired by mid season 2 good old-fashioned Cadmus kidnapping plots. I had an idea to have Kara get tortured by Lillian in front of Lena and kind of just took it from there. Towards the end, I got a little lazy and glossed over some speaking parts, but this one mostly focuses on the Supercorp relationship so there's plenty of moments between those 2. This one is pretty angsty (because that's what I like writing hehe) but I promise a fluffy ending. The plot of this one with Lena, Lillian, and Kara is kind of similar but not really similar to another fic I wrote (called Stay With Me - go read it if you haven't already!) but it is it's own story. Anyway, I hope whoever reads this enjoys it and please, if you have the time, leave a review! It can be positive, negative, questions, anything! I love any constructive criticism or ideas readers can give me for new stories. Thanks!

Lena hummed softly with her radio as she pulled to a stop at a red light. It was pitch black outside, save the 2 beams of light that shone from the headlights of Lena's car. While she would normally have her driver take her home, it was Friday and she sent him home early. Besides, she liked to drive herself every once in a while to clear her head. Lena allowed her thoughts to take over and she started to think about the person she spent most of her time thinking about:

Kara.

Her beautiful, Kryptonian, Super-wife.

The love of her life, her soulmate.

Lena smiled. She started to think about the first time Kara walked into her office, those glasses and that pink cardigan.

She never stood a chance in hell of not falling in love with Kara.

And then Kara Danvers had told her she was Supergirl. Lena was mad about it for a little bit, but as more time passed, she understood why Kara didn't tell her.

And a few weeks after that, Kara Zor-El had gone and kissed Lena, and Lena could do nothing but kiss back.

And now Kara Zor-El Danvers was her wife.

And Lena falls more in love with her every day.

Lena's so lost in her thoughts that she doesn't notice the van that has pulled up behind her, nor the one that is stopping in front of her until she's desperately slamming on the brakes, her tires squealing as she comes to a hard stop, hitting her head on the steering wheel. The last thing she sees through her hazy vision is a man dressed in black approaching her car, in step with him a woman wearing a long, caramel colored overcoat.

And then everything went dark.

-00-

Lena slowly comes back into awareness with a pounding headache. She closes her eyes to try and dull the pain.

A muffled sound filled her ears. It sounded like a mix between a cry and a shout.

She looked up and what she saw directly in front of her stole her breath away.

Not 20 feet away, was her beautiful wife.

Kara was dressed in her Supergirl suit, on her knees. She had a rag over her mouth and her wrists were being held in chains, pulling her arms out to either side, almost forming a y-shape. Other than the restraints, Kara seemed to be unharmed.

"Kara?" Lena said, tears filling in her eyes. She tried to get up and run to her wife when she felt something tug at her wrists. She too was chained up, just in a much less uncomfortable position. And she wasn't gagged either. Lena moved as close to Kara as she could get. Taking in their surroundings, they were being held in a dark room, the only light coming from 3 lamps, one in the middle of the room and one above her and above Kara.

The lamp above Kara produced a red glow.

Red Sunlight.

Kara's eyes were wide with fear. She looked at Lena with concern. Of course Kara was concerned about Lena when she was tied up and gagged herself.

"I'm alright, darling, I promise," Lena said, noticing Kara relax slightly. She wished she could run over to Kara, take the rag away from her face, unchain her, do something.

"No powers?" Lena asked. Kara strained against the chains, her arms barely moving under the weakness of the Red Sunlight when she finally relented, shaking her head in defeat.

"Ok, it's ok. We're going to be ok," Lena told her, keeping eye contact with the Kryptonian.

Lena was about to say something when her abductor entered the room.

She should have known.

"Mother," Lena spat in disgust, turning her attention to Lillian and failing to notice the henchmen making their way over to Kara from the other side of the room. "What is the meaning of this?"

"I have some...projects, per say, that need testing and improvements. I figured you were perfect for the job," Lillian said nonchalantly.

"Why would I ever help you?" Lena said bitterly, still not noticing the men next to Kara.

"Failure to comply will result in punishment," Lillian answered, pulling a gun out of her coat and aiming it at Lena.

Lena heard Kara's muffled cries and finally turned to look at her.

"Shut up, scum," one of the men growled as he connected his fist to Kara's head. The other one pulled a taser from his belt and brought it to Kara's ribcage, pushing it against the blue fabric.

Lena's eyes welled up at Kara's muffled cries of pain. "Stop it!" she screamed. "Leave her alone!" Lena could feel the tears leaving her eyes as Lillian finally nodded to the man and he took the taser away.

Kara's entire body went limp, her head hanging and her weight sagging against her chained wrists.

"I'll come back soon to see if you're more willing to comply," Lillian said, her and her men walking away.

"Wait!" Lena called after her. Lillian stopped in her tracks, turning to face the young CEO.

"Let me be with her. Let me be next to her," she said tearfully.

"Very well, you get one request and I shall grant it to you," Lillian said flatly, walking over to Lena and unlocking her chains.

Lena wasted no time in sprinting over to Kara, Lillian already gone.

Lena dropped down to her knees in front of Kara. "Kara," she cried, taking the rag off of her wife's face and throwing it to the side. She noticed blood dripping from Kara's temple from where the man had punched her. Lena took Kara's face in her hands, bringing it up to her own eye level. She thumbed away the tears of pain that had left Kara's eyes earlier and lightly tapped the side of Kara's face, hoping to wake her up.

"Kara, open your eyes, please. Open your eyes," she whispered softly, her voice breaking.

Kara's eyes fluttered open and those blue eyes were the most beautiful thing Lena had ever seen.

"Lena?" Kara rasped, trying to move, not remembering the current situation she was in.

When she felt her arms tug against the chains and the pain that radiated all over her body, she quickly remembered where she was.

"Hi," Lena said softly, stroking Kara's cheeks with her thumbs, just glad Kara was awake and talking to her.

"Rao, Lena no you have to get out of here. Why are you here? How did they get you?" Kara said, her blue eyes becoming full of panic and yet still lethargic at the same time. Lena could hear the way Kara's words slurred from the pain.

"Kara," Lena said, resting her forehead against the blonde's, hoping to calm her state of panic. "I'm not leaving you here. Not a chance in hell," she said resolutely, still keeping their foreheads touching.

"No, Lena, you can save yourself. You can get away from here," Kara said, more tears leaving her eyes.

Lena leaned back so she could look at Kara but still kept Kara's face in her hands. "I'm not leaving you," she said, "I would never leave you." She noticed blood was still dripping from the cut on Kara's temple and without a second thought she took off her sweater, leaving her in only a long sleeve tee, and pressed the fabric against Kara's head.

"I know, I'm sorry," Lena said gently when Kara hissed in pain. She kept the pressure against Kara's head and used her free hand to lightly trace the outline of Kara's face.

"How did they get you?" Kara said softly, causing Lena to look her in the eyes.

"They targeted my car when I was driving home, but I promise I wasn't hurt. Just knocked out, that's all," Lena answered, ignoring the slight ache that still resonated behind her head. She was about to ask how they got Kara but was pulled out of her thoughts by Kara's apologetic voice.

"I'm so sorry," Kara said. "I'm sorry you're here because of me and I should have been there-"

"-Kara," Lena interrupted her gently, "This is not your fault, ok? Please don't blame yourself."

Kara didn't say anything but still kept her gaze locked on Lena's.

Lena slowly took the sweater away from Kara's head, satisfied that at least the bleeding had stopped.

"I wish I could take you away from here, get you out of those chains," Lena said softly, changing the subject. She caressed Kara's face with one hand.

"Hey, I'm ok," Kara said. Even if entire body was on fire, she would never let Lena know that.

Lena brought her fingers under Kara's chin and slowly lifted her face, taking Kara's lips in a soft kiss. When the kiss broke, Lena leaned her head forward, touching her forehead to Kara's and closing her eyes.

Kara closed her own eyes, sighing softly and reveling in the feeling of Lena's soft, warm, gentle hands on her face.

"I love you," Kara whispers, still keeping her forehead against Lena's. Even slurred and tired, Kara's words still make Lena's heart leap out of her chest.

"I love you too, so much," Lena whispers back, caressing Kara's cheeks gently with her thumbs.

"Touching," a voice sounds behind them. Both Kara's and Lena's heads snap up, Lena looking over her shoulder to find that Lillian had come back, again accompanied by 2 henchmen.

"You want me and me only. Let Lena go," Kara said firmly, looking into Lillian's eyes.

"Kara no," Lena said, looking back at Kara. Kara didn't waver in her decision.

"While I would say I admire your bravery Ms. Danvers" - Lillian refused to acknowledge Kara or Lena as being married or related in any way - "My daughter possesses valuable information and I require both of you here." Lillian signaled to her men and they walked over to Lena, grabbing her by her arms and pulling her away from Kara.

"Lena!" Kara cried, struggling against the chains keeping her in place.

"Kara!" Lena cried, struggling the men pulling her away from her wife.

Irony is a cruel thing, isn't it?

"No let her go!" Kara yelled, still trying to pull her body upwards, fighting against the kryptonite in her system as her wife was dragged away by Lillian's lackeys.

"Kara!" Lena cried again as she was dragged out of the room.

Kara panted with her efforts, a mix of the adrenaline and rage she felt fueling her to keep trying to get free.

Lillian walked over to her, a glare on her face.

Kara tried to appear firm, though she probably looked like a mess. She could feel the dried blood that was caked on the side of her face and she knew her movements were uncoordinated.

Lillian stood in front of Kara. "You'll learn to hold your tongue in the presence of your superiors, alien scum," Lillian spat out at her, reaching for something in her coat pocket.

Kara's eyes widened in alarm as Lillian pulled a small metal pipe out of her pocket and before she had time to process, the pipe was brought down on the side of her face.

Hard.

Kara saw stars and had a new, painful ache where her left cheek was. She spit, tasting the familiar copper tinge of the crimson mixed with her saliva.

What she didn't expect was another blow to her opposite eye.

Well that would leave a mark.

This time the darkness overtook her before she could process the pain.

And she welcomed it.

"That ought to teach you some respect," Lillian said, pulling a rag from her coat and using it to wipe blood off the pipe. She squatted down in front of Kara, roughly grabbing the unconscious face and forcing it upwards, examining the blood and bruising she left there. "That's for corrupting my daughter," she spat, letting the head sag again and beginning to undo the chains around Kara's wrists as the 2 more henchmen came back and carried Kara out of the room.

-00-

Lena continued to struggle against the men as they dragged her down a narrow hallway, continuously looking behind her, in the direction of the room Kara was in. Finally, she was brought into a different room, and left alone, hearing the familiar click as she was locked inside.

Lena surveyed her surroundings. From what she could see, she was in some sort of makeshift lab. In front of her there were tables, each topped with different tools, beakers, and test tubes. She stepped forward, running her fingers along the edge of a beaker as she looked all around the room, looking for any way out.

She found nothing.

A light was switched on to her left and underneath it she saw her mother walking towards her. Lillian was no longer wearing her caramel overcoat, but rather a black shirt and a black apron. On her hands, thick black gloves and her hair was pulled back into a tight bun.

Lena looked her mother up and down.

"There's gear for you too, on the table," Lillian said, motioning to the table on Lena's right.

"What are we doing here mother?" Lena asked, crossing her arms over her chest. She pretended like she wasn't swallowing a mountain of concern for Kara, hoping to convince her mother that she wasn't afraid.

"As I told you earlier, I have some things that I've been working on and they need to be tested. I figured your brilliant mind was the right one to help me perfect them."

"What did you do to Kara?" Lena asked, hoping her mother didn't hear the slight tremble in her voice.

"I don't know why you care so much for the kryptonian, but I am your mother and I still love you, so as per your earlier request, I'll let you see her," Lillian said and as she finished her sentence, another light switched on, to reveal Kara across from them in this new room, all the way on the other side of the space.

Above her there was still red sunlight, only it seemed almost redder than before, more intense. Kara is chained up in the same way as before, her arms being pulled above her in her state of unconsciousness as the rest of her body sagged toward her knees on the floor. Even from a distance, Lena could see the bruises that bloomed across Kara's face.

"Kara…" Lena breathed, tears welling up in her eyes as she ran over to her wife, dropping to her knees in front of the blonde.

Lillian merely watched from behind, deciding to give her a daughter a minute to feed her strange indulgences.

"Oh god, baby, what did she do to you?" Lena whispered, tears flowing freely down her cheeks. She traced the bruise along Kara's eye while using the other hand to cup Kara's other cheek.

Lena whipped her head around, glaring daggers at her mother. "I'll never help you, never!" she cried, turning back to Kara, murmuring soothing words to her and hoping she could hear them.

Lena failed to notice her mother walking over to her, syringe in hand.

"I don't know where I went so wrong with you," she said, causing Lena to look up from Kara's body and notice her mother injecting something green into Kara's neck.

"No!" Lena cried, tackling her mother. But it was too late, the kryptonite had already been injected. Lena had managed to knock out Lillian but when she turned back to Kara, her blood ran cold.

Kara's veins became a sick shade of neon green. Blood began to drip from Kara's nose, mingling with the blood from when Lillian had attacked her earlier. Lena's eyes widened in panic and she noticed a key in Lillian's pocket. She quickly grabbed it, running back to Kara and unlocking the chains.

"No no no no no," Lena cried, cradling Kara's body in her lap. Kara's breathing became wheezy and the blood continued to drip out of her nose.

"You're ok, you're ok," Lena whispered, her voice raspy from the tears. She hugged Kara's body to her chest, rocking back and forth. She didn't know what to do. There was nothing for her to do. She was helpless.

Lena's own body shook with sobs as she hugged Kara's body tighter, looking down at her wife's face. Through tear blurred vision, Lena could make out the bruises on Kara's face, a deep purple that spread across her eye and cheek. Lena could also see the neon green veins bulging on Kara's face and the bright red crimson that leaked from Kara's nose. She gently touched Kara's face, tracing the bruise that stained Kara's cheek. Lena could barely make out Kara's labored breathing through her own sobs. She's not even sure Kara's still breathing.

Lena suddenly heard commotion from outside the room.

"Help me! Please somebody help me!" She screamed, her voice high pitched as she spoke between sobs, Kara still being cradled in her lap.

Lena sees 2 blurs, one of green, one of red and blue.

In a split second, J'onn carrying Agent Danvers and Superman carrying Eliza Danvers are flying into the room.

Eliza runs to where Kara is being held in Lena's lap and injects something into Kara's arm.

Alex takes a few hurried steps forward before surveying the scene in front of her.

Kara looks bad.

Really bad.

Her shoulders are being supported by Lena's arm as her head lolls against Lena's shoulder. Lena has one hand on Kara's cheek, keeping her head in place.

Alex takes that in before she notices how pale Kara is, the angry bruises on her face, the blood dripping from her little sister's nose. She feels tears sting in her eyes as she closes the distance between her and Kara, dropping down on her knees in front of where her sister-in-law is an emotional wreck.

Lena's looking around, frantic, not exactly sure what's happening. All she registers in that moment is that Kara is dying, dying, dying.

Eliza stands behind Alex, squeezing her shoulder. The older-woman feels tears prick in the back of her eyes as well. She wasn't even positive the serum she injected Kara with would work to bring her back. It was supposed to negate the kryptonite but it was untested and there's no guarantee it would work at all.

"Come on, Kara, fight," Alex murmurs, only loud enough for herself to hear, crying freely.

Eliza watches from behind Alex, tears now flowing down her cheeks as well.

Superman and Martian Manhunter watched from a distance, both of them shedding tears as well, Superman for his only blood relative and J'onn J'onzz for his earth daughter. They hang their heads in defeat.

The room falls to silence. Every second that ticks by feels like a lifetime.

Lena's sobs have subsided but silent tears still remain. She leans down, pressing her forehead against Kara's, her tears falling onto the pale, beautiful face of her wife.

"Come back to me, Kara," Lena whispers, still keeping her forehead against Kara's, gently caressing the bruised cheek. She closes her eyes, willing this to be a nightmare that she'll soon wake up from.

Kara's eyes shoot open and she heaves in a large breath, gasping and coughing.

Lena's eyes widen. "Kara, oh my god," Lena breathes, cupping Kara's face with her hands, looking into the unfocused eyes of her now breathing wife.

Superman and J'onn look up, they look at Kara and then at each other and smile, embracing each other in a hug.

Alex immediately scoots closer to Kara. "Kara, hey," Alex says smiling. "It's ok, you're ok," she says, holding Kara's arm to try and ease her state of panic.

"Lena?" Kara says hoarsely, finally getting her breathing under control, noticing the tear tracks on her face and the fact that she's being held in her lap. "Why...why is everyone crying?" she asks, looking around the room. Kara reaches up with one hand, thumbs tears off Lena's cheek.

Alex breaks out into laughter and allows herself to be taken into a one-armed hug by her mother as Eliza sits down on the floor, wiping tears from her eyes.

"God, I love you," Lena says, smiling through her tears, placing many kisses on Kara's forehead before finally claiming Kara's lips with her own.

"Are you guys ok?" Kara asks when the kiss breaks, still resting her head against Lena's shoulder, feeling drained.

"Are we ok?" Alex answers. "Are you kidding me right now Kara?" she says, still smiling fondly at her little sister.

"What happened?" she asks looking at Lena, who has a fresh set of tears in her eyes.

"What happened is we almost lost you, Kar," Lena says softly, her eyes full of love.

"Oh..." Kara says, yawning. She leans fully into Lena, feeling relaxed as Lena's fingers thread gently through her hair. "Is that...is that why I'm so tired?" Kara asks, her words heavy with exhaustion.

Everyone laughs, tear-laden, giddy laughter.

"That might have something to do with it," Alex says, rubbing Kara's arm softly.

"Wait...I remember...I remember Lillian. How did you guys find us?" Kara asks.

"I put a tracker in your suit," Alex answers with a smirk, still stroking Kara's arm.

"You...you did what?" Kara says.

"I believe you mean 'thank you for saving my butt with your overprotective big sister instincts, Alex,'" Alex remarks, still smiling.

Kara yawns. "I love you," she says, smiling.

"I love you too," Alex says, ruffling Kara's hair.

Kara smiles and yawns again, leaning into Lena's warmth, her head resting on Lena's shoulder as Lena's fingers gently scratch the top of her scalp. Lena presses a long kiss to Kara's forehead, closing her eyes and reveling in the warmth of Kara's skin.

"I love you my sleepy superhero," Lena whispers against Kara's forehead.

"I love you too my genius CEO," Kara says back, her words soft and tired.

Alex and Eliza wear twin-grins and Eliza rubs Alex's shoulder.

"We should get her back to the DEO," J'onn says behind them, him and Superman approaching the 4 women.

In the haste of recent events, everyone had forgotten about the fact that Kara was without her powers and that her face was still bruised and stained with blood.

"Yeah," Lena says.

"I can take her," Clark says, leaning down to pick up his cousin.

Lena places one last kiss on Kara's forehead before Superman picks her up bridal style.

Kara's practically falling asleep already. Superman nods to everyone before taking off, shooting into the sky.

"Take Lena and Alex, come back for me," Eliza says to J'onn, sensing the situation.

"But-" Lena starts, Kara is Eliza's daughter, after all.

"-I insist," Eliza interrupts her. "I'll be perfectly ok waiting here an extra few minutes," she says, smiling to Lena.

Lena runs over to her mother-in-law and wraps her in a hug.

"Thank you for saving her," Lena whispers into Eliza's shoulder. Eliza hugs her back, deciding nothing else needs to be said in that moment.

J'onn grabs Alex and Lena, nodding to Eliza, and takes off.

-00-

As soon as they land, Lena and Alex make their way to the sunlamp room while J'onn goes back for Eliza.

As they get closer to the sunlamp room, the 2 women notice that Clark is standing protectively in front of the door, arms crossed over his chest. Through the window, they can see that Kara has been changed out of her Supergirl attire into DEO sweats. The bruising on Kara's face is basically healed, the blood long since cleaned off. As soon as he sees Alex and Lena, Clark steps aside, letting the 2 most important people in his cousin's life into the room.

Kara appeared to be asleep but as Alex approached her sunlamp table, her eyes cracked open slightly. Lena stays back for a second, letting Alex have a much needed moment with her sister. Alex whispers something in Kara's ear and kisses her forehead before walking out of the room. On the way out she nods to Lena, who nods back.

Lena makes her way over to Kara, bringing a plastic chair over with her and sitting as close to Kara as she can get without physically getting on the table next to her.

"Hey," she hears Kara say softly. She looks over to find Kara's eyes open. She looks exhausted.

"Hey you," Lena says back, a smile on her lips.

Kara slowly reaches the hand closest to Lena out and Lena takes it, threading their fingers together. Kara brings Lena's hand to her mouth and kisses the back of it.

Neither of them notice Eliza, Alex, J'onn, or Clark watching from outside, all smiling.

"You know I love you right?" Kara says, giving Lena a tired smile and tilting her head slightly to look at her wife better.

Lena smiles. "I think I have some idea," she says, squeezing Kara's hand.

"Well I do love you," Kara says, her words heavy with exhaustion.

"Yeah?" Lena asks, smiling. She leans closer, using her free hand to brush back some strands of hair that have fallen into Kara's face.

"Yeah," Kara says softly, her eyes closing.

"I love you too. So so much," Lena says, softly stroking the hair on the top of Kara's head.

Kara sighs contently still keeping her head facing Lena.

"I know," she whispers, falling asleep with a small smile on her face.

Lena lifts their entwined hands and presses a kiss to Kara's knuckles

"Sweet dreams, my sleepy superhero. I love you," she whispers.
