So I broke down and finally saw the remake Aladdin.
Verdict: I LOVE IT, I hesitate to say it's better than the original, but the remake just had this charm to it that made me want to watch it again and again. Honestly if someone were to say one was better than the other I wouldn't argue with either decision.
The arguement of whether Will Smith was a better genie than Robin Williams means nothing to me, I think Will did a wonderful job at making the character his own and I will always love Robin's Genie.
Also they totally stole my 'genie falls for the princess's handmaid' side plot from THIS STORY! I started this story back in 2015 that movie wasn't announced until late 2017.
DISNEY WHERE MY MONEY AT??!!!
Let's get back to it..
Final Wish
Nino closed his eyes and braced himself as Hawkmoth launched the sword directly at his chest, but it never came. When he opened his eyes he saw the waves of Auburn hair directly in front of him. The genie felt his heart stopped as the girl dropped to the floor clutched her stomach.
"Alya!" Nino screamed realizing what the girl has done. Alya wasn't aware that Nino couldn't be killed, so in an effort to save him, she jumped in the way of Hawkmoth sword and took the blow instead.
Hawkmoth released the genie from his bind of magic and laughed as he watched him crawl over to the girl on the floor. "Now you see exactly where your disobedience will get you!"
Nino held Alya in his arms bringing her closer to his chest. "Please be alright, Alya please!"
Alya looked up at the brunette with a pained smile on her face. "Are you alright?" She asked.
"Don't worry about me I'm fine...just...just stay with me." Nino felt his eyes burn with tears and he held on tighter.
Marinette screamed Alya's name from behind the glass, as she saw her best friend fall to the ground she began to punch and kick the glass with much more force than before. Adrien growled as fury took over his whole being, he grabbed one of the nearest swords and charged towards Hawkmoth.
"YOU MONSTER!!!" He yelled in a blind rage and swung his sword to attack. Hawkmoth disappeared and Adrien was suddenly surrounded by a circle of flames. "Come out and fight Hawkmoth or are you just a coward hiding behind a staff and some fancy tricks!!"
Hawkmoth chuckled at the boy. "I'm just getting ready for the main event!"
Suddenly Hawkmoth appeared within the ring of fire. His staff glowed and his whole body was engulfed in a cocoon. Before Adrien could figure out what was going on the cocoon cracked opened and out came a giant moth creature that was as big as a house. Adrien gulped, but stood his ground drawing his sword at the creature.
The giant moth swooped in and Adrien lunged to his right dodging the creatures attacks. At the next attack Adrien jumped onto the creature and climbed on it's back. The moth flew across the air in a frenzy, at an attempt to shake the boy off, but Adrien held on tight. He climbed to the top reaching the creatures head and swung his sword, slicing off one of it's antenna.
A loud shriek was heard from the beast and Adrien had lost his balance and fell towards the ground. He groaned in pain as the impact was enough to fracture his shoulder and he lied on the ground in pain. The blonde felt himself be picked up and tossed over to the nearest wall by Hawkmoth.
"Give up boy! You are NO match against me." The creature snarled. "This...This is what true power looks like! No one can ever rise against me!"
Adrien didn't know what to do, he felt completely helpless at this very moment. He looked over to Marinette who was now neck deep in the sand from the hourglass. Hawkmoth was right, he wasn't strong enough to fight this monster, he wasn't strong enough to save his princess, his friends, or anyone.
Adrien turned his attention to Nino who still held Alya in his arms and suddenly an idea occured within him.
"You're right Hawkmoth." Adrien spoke. "You are powerful, but your still not the most powerful being."
"What?" The moth growled.
"Nino was the one who gave you your power and he can take it back with a simple snap of his finger. Face it Hawkmoth, you'll never be as powerful as a genie!"
"We will see about that!" Hawkmoth spat and proceeded to glide towards the weeping being. "Slave! I am ready to make my final wish!"
"NO! I REFUSE!" Nino shouted at the monster. "You killed the one person I ever came to love! I rather die than grant you your wish!"
"Fool! You dare defy me?! You will suffer for your insolence!" Hawkmoth shouted.
Before Nino could retaliate he spotted Adrien in the corner the blonde gave him a look and mouthed the words 'Do it, Trust me'. Nino was unsure of what Adrien's intentions was, but it was more than clear to him that the boy had a plan. "Forgive me Master, what is your wish?"
"Much better, you finally learned some respect." Hawkmoth snarled. "Slave! I wish for you to make me an all powerful genie!"
Nino gulped, but complied and snapped his fingers granting the dark creatures wish. Hawkmoth grew in size as he morphed back into his human form, laughing as he felt the abundance of power flowing within him. "Finally, now I am the most powerful being in the world!"
As the evil being burst through the ceiling a harsh wind blew causing Nino to hold onto to Alya tighter. Adrien ran over to Marinette who was now buried within the sand in the hourglass, he grabbed a nearby wooden board and use it to smash the glass open letting the sand spill out along with Marinette. The blonde held Marinette in his arms while the princess desperately tried to catch her breath, coughing out the sand that managed to slip through. She looked Hawkmoth who was now a giant with all the mystical powers of a genie at hand.
"Adrien, what have you done?!" She yelled frantically.
"It's okay, I have a plan, trust me." Adrien looked around in the room and noticed a purple bronch that appeared on the floor once Hawkmoth transformed. He quickly ran over to retrieve the object.
"All the power in the universe is for me to control! No one will be able to stand in my way!" The dark being bellowed.
"You're forgetting something Hawkmoth!" Adrien yelled catching the man's attention. "You wanted to be a genie, now you get to be one aling with the full experience!"
"What?" In that instance, gold shackles appeared around Hawkmoth's wrist and he began to feel a burning pain from beneath. "What is the meaning of this?!"
"You got your wish, now it's time to go inside your new home!" The blonde presented the bronch to the large being and before he knew it Hawkmoth was being sucked into the small object.
"NO! THIS CANNOT BE!" Hawkmoth cried out in agony as he desperately began to grab onto everything around him, but it was all in vain. The force from the bronch continued to drag him in until he disappeared into the object completely.
"So long Hawkmoth." Adrien said glaring at the bronch.
"Alya!" He heard Marinettes voice and rushed over to her and the others. Nino was still gripping Alya in his arms who was now limp. Marinette was shaking her arm trying to coax her friend to say something, anything at all. "Alya wake up, please...wake up!"
Nino looked up at Adrien as tears fell from his eyes. "Dude...please, I'm begging you, make a wish for her wounds to be healed! We have to save her before it's too late and I won't be able to bring her back!"
"I understand Nino, but...what about your freedom?" Adrien responded.
"My freedom nothing if Alyas not there...just please make the wish!" Nino cried desperately.
"Okay, Nino I..I wish for Alya's wounds to be healed!" Nino snapped his fingers to grant the wish ..nothing happened, he snapped again and again, but his magic wasn't giving any response...it was too late.
"No...no!" Nino pulled Alya closer to him and cried harder than before. Marinette cried as well feeling her heart crumble to pieces, Adrien pulled the princess into his arms in an attempt to comfort her, but it only made her tears spill faster. Soon, the blonde felt his own tears falling as well.
Plagg and Tikki flew over saddened by their chosens despair. Tikki flew over and sat on Marinette's shoulder, touching the crying girls cheek. Once Adrien noticed the red kwami his eyes widened from a sudden thought.
"Marinette? Have you used the wish from your kwami?" Adrien asked.
The blunette looked up at the blonde confused. "Wish? What are you talking about?"
"I learned that every kwami is able to grant their chosen a single wish, its how I was able to get back here to you."
"I've never heard of this before, I've never wished for anything from Tikki."
"Then there's still a chance for us to save Alya! Every kwami is able to grant their chosen one wish."
"He's right.." Nino spoke with a glint of hope in his eyes. "Kwamis aren't limited by rules like I am, they will grant you any wish you want, but you have to truly want it." He stared at the princess. "Do you truly want to save Alya?"
"Of course!" Marinette spoke feeling somewhat offended but brushed the feeling aside. "I'd do anything to save Alya!"
"All you have to do is speak your kwamis name and make your wish." Adrien instructed.
"Tikki..." Marinette called for her kwami who responded enthusiastically. "I wish...I wish that Alya was with us again."
Tikki smiled as a bright pink light shined around her. It illuminated brighter and brighter until it touched the Auburn haired girl. Alya's form glowed the same color, the brightest part being right where her wound was. Suddenly the light dimmed until it disappeared completely and her wound was gone.
"Alya?" Nino spoke, but didn't get a response. "Alya...please...come back."
Marinette and Adrien drew closer to the sleeping girl as well and they all grew silent as they waited for some kind of response. Suddenly Alya's eyes shot open, she began gasping for air and shot up from the ground.
"What? How? Who?!" Alya was lost at words. "What's going on?!" She looked at her friends for answer who just jumped for joy at her return.
"Alya you're back!" Marinette shouted and pulled the Auburn haired girl in a tight hug.
"Mari I can't breath!" Alya said trying to catch her breath. "Nino help me!" She called for the grnie, but he simply responded by joining in the hug. "That's not helping!" Once she was finally released she glared at the two of them. "Can someone please tell me what's going on?"
"You don't remember?" Adrien asked.
"Remember?" Alya took a moment to think before her eyes widened. "Oh gosh...was...was I...?" Thinking that she might faint from shock, Nino held Alya by her back. "I...I thought it was just one big nightmare...wait..." She turned to face Nino and had pulled him into a hug. "Oh gods...I saw Hawkmoth come at you with a sword...I was so scared...that he was going to kill you!"
Nino returned Alya's embrace. "All that matters is that you're back." He tilted her chin up and wiped away her tears. "I love you Alya."
Alya's tears fell faster and she smiled. "I love you too Nino."
Nino leaned forward and gently pressed his lips against Alya's who returned his affection. Their friends smiled at the scene.
The doors burst open and they turned to see the King rushing in, he was almost out of breath as he had just managed to escape his prison and fought his way here. He noticed his daughter and rushed to her side.
"Marinette!" He scooped her up in his arms. "I was so worried! Are you alright?! Did Hawkmoth hurt you?! Where is he?!"
"Papa I'm fine." Marinette smiled to reassure him and he set her back on the ground "We're all fine, thanks to Adrien."
"Adrien?" The King looked over at the blonde. "Have we met before?"
"We have your majesty, however I was wearing a mask then. I'm Prince Chat Noir, but as you can see I'm...not exactly a real prince." Adrien gestured to the rags on his clothes.
"Prince or no prince, you saved this kingdom and my daughter. How can we ever repay you?"
"No payment necessary your highness, but I do ask for your forgiveness." Adrien's expression grew solemn and he turned to Marinette. "Princess...I'm sorry I lied to you, there's no excuse for it. I was just so afraid if you knew the truth about me, you would think I was pathetic. You are truly extraordinary and you deserve so much more than what I can offer. So...I guess this is goodbye."
"Adrien I don't care if you're not a prince, I never did." The princess pulled the boy in a hug. "I love you Adrien.."
Adrien held Marinette closer. "I love you too Marinette."
Nino's heart sank as he watched the couple in what seemed to be their final embrace. He sighed before coming to a decision and approached the two.
"Hey Dude?" He spoke getting Adrien's attention. "You still have one more wish you know? Just say the word and I'll make you a prince again."
Adrien looked at his friend in shock. "Nino...what about your freedom?"
"Don't sweat it dude, it's not important. What's important is that you found someone who you truly feel for man and believe me, I've been around long enough to know that it ain't easy to find that special someone." He reached his hand over to Alya and helped her off the ground. "I know how it feels to love someone and do anything to be with that person. Now that I have Alya on my side I know that we'll find a way. You deserve to be happy too Adrien."
Adrien smiled at the genie and turned to Marinette. "Mari...I love you...but...I have to stop pretending to be something that I'm not."
The blunette nodded. "I understand.."
"Nino..." Adrien spoke. "I wish for your freedom."
Nino blinked once, the twice. Words he never thought he would hear reached his ears and he had to ask for confirmation. "W..What?"
"You're free Nino." Adrien repeated.
The braces on Nino's wrist began to disappear and the magical hold he once felt was starting to lose his grip on him. His powers had faded away and he pressed his hand over his chest as he began to process what happened to him. He was mortal.
"I..I can't believe it." Nino chuckled in disbelief. "I'm...I'm human." He rushed over to Alya and picked her up in his arms. "I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! I'M ACTUALLY FREE!" Nino set the gorl down and ran over to Adrien and Marinette pulling the two in a hug. "This...this is real..right?"
The princess laughed and pat the boy's back. "It is Nino."
He let go of the two and looked over to the blonde who smiled at him. That's when Nino realized what Adrien had just given up. "Adrien..."
"You deserve this Nino." Adrien assured him. "Anything for my best friend."
Nino felt tears began to well up in his eyes. "D...Dude you can't just say stuff like that out of the blue, my emotions can't take it." Everyone laughed except for the King who held a serious expression.
Marinette noticed. "Is everything okay Papa?"
"Actually sweetie, no it isn't." Tom stated. "In all my years, I've never seen you so happy, not since..before your mother..." The King had a difficult time continuing. "All I wanted was to make sure you had someone by your side when the day came where I couldn't be here for you anymore. As a father, your happiness should be my number one priority and from where I'm standing the only thing keeping you from that is this terrible law."
"Papa, what are you saying?"
"Well I am the King and I say that the law no longer exist. From this day forth the princess shall marry whoever it is that she desires." Tom finished with a smile.
Marinette gasped and ran over to Adrien who caught her as she wrapped her arms around him. "I choose him!" She looked up at the boys bright green eyes. "I choose you, Adrien."
Adrien's felt his heart about to burst and on impulse he pulled the princess into a loving kiss. It seemed that from here on out everything was going to get better and everything would finally be perfect.
