Monster Hunters

Synopsis: Uzumaki Naruto and Aono Tsukune are about to start their high school experience. After a hair-raising bus ride, the two new students arrive at the nightmarish looking Yōkai Academy. They soon discover the real secret of the Academy. With no way of escaping the school and the students getting rowdier and deadlier by the day, the two freshmen had to do something to survive.

Author's Note: I took Naruto's appearance from his high school DLC pack and combined it with the R+V uniform. Naruto has grown up in the USA. He will act a bit more differently since Jiraya had raised him. I'm trying to keep him in character, but that is kind of hard. I plan on both Naruto and Tsukune to the big centerpieces of this story.

Entry Title: Day 1 at Yōkai Academy

I stood in front of a bus stop with a bored, borderline disgruntled expression on my face. My hands were behind my head as I waited for this so-called school bus to finally show up. 'Almost like back Home,' I reminisced. The thought of taking a bus to school reminded me so much of the USA. My blue eyes narrowed at the thought of my old home. 'It had been too long since I've been back.' I thought, starting to daydream of my old home in Los Angeles, California.

The music blasting in my ears also helped with that too. I had my headphones in while I was listing to my iPod Classic sixth-gen. The song 'Spare Me the Details' by Offspring had popped up from my collection of music. It was a reasonably good song I had found on a journey that was youtube and punk rock. A sudden gust of wind blew at me. My blond spikey hair was caught and moved with the breeze as a strong gust blew by. It just so happened to be a little chilly outside. That was odd for Japan because it was usually hot and sticky during the summer months.

My outfit was doing a good job keeping me warm from the sudden cold air. My clothes consisted of a green blazer that I had left unbuttoned, a white dress shirt that was partially buttoned up to the fourth top button. A black tank-top or wife-beater was under that. My small golden cross was around my neck due to growing up in a Christian setting. 'Yet my guardian doesn't follow one of the commandments.' My khaki pants were the cleanest they were going to get as I don't care to remove the wrinkles they will receive eventually. My black loafers were tight in the toe area due to being new shoes that I was breaking in. There was a piece of blank cloth that was tied around my forehead in a bandana. The last article of clothing was a long black cloak that I could button but didn't. I didn't care to look tidy for this school! The uniforms were such a stupid idea to me. Yeah, some would say I looked and acted like a delinquent, so what? I thought I looked more like a badass and American. Not my fault their opinions suck. Normal is boring and simple.

I was neither of those things.

The fact that I had to go to high school in Japan angered me. This whole moving business is not something I wanted at all. No matter how much I tried to tell my guardian. I hated school with a bloody passion. School in Japan was much worse than anything I had ever experienced in America. Trust me on that one. I would have rathered, stayed up in the hills, and continued to learn to fight like I did when I was younger. Those were the days I could really enjoy myself and cut loose. I always liked physical activities and sports. I wasn't good at any of them when I first started. I was always picked last. Then after years of hard work, I finally became good at sports. I wasn't a natural at anything but fighting, protecting myself, and pranking. Oh, yeah. Pranking I was a master of the art.

I shook my head lightly, not wanting to think about the subject any longer. At least schools in the US would let me take summer school to get into high school. Here in Japan, I had to take an entrance exam to get into high school. 'What a load of crap that was!' Acting like high school was a prestigious college or something. I grunted at this thought. That and the school uniforms had to go as well! Being from public schools in America would make anyone hate wearing uniforms. Not to mention that the entrance exams were hard to boot, that it made me felt like I was applying to a college! It was like a mini-ACT or SAT! Either the US education system was far behind, or Japan was just crazy. It was probably both if I had to think about it.

I had been labeled as a rebel throughout my school years. Not conforming to the rules, getting into fights, and pranking. I probably did it if someone could name it. In the US, that might be considered cool. In Japan, it wasn't, and people would ostracize you for it. I was not also speaking for how hostile the culture was to foreigners. I mean, some restaurants would kick you out if they thought you were a foreigner.

'Ugh, Jiraiya, why do we have to go to Japan? Of all places.' Oh, yes, this was Jiraiya's fault. The guy wants to literally screw every kind of woman there was and still had the gall to call himself a Christian. It was still odd how he said Christianity was important to him but could blatantly break commandments. How the guy hadn't been damned thus far was beyond my understanding. The guy would leave me for long periods and would never tell me when he was coming back. It made me harder for all the trouble that caused. I learned to fend for myself and learn new skills too.

Jiraiya wasn't a bad guy, but he was a very busy man. In fact, to this day, I still knew nothing about one of the man's jobs. He was an author, but there was something else he did that was still a mystery. Whatever the job was, it required moving around a lot. The man had a lot of good redeeming qualities. However, those were hidden under a very rough exterior and un-redeeming qualities.

That guy's perversions finally got to me after all the years of standing firm against him. I now found myself looking up skirts if the opportunity struck. Now, I wasn't going to go sneaking into a girl's locker room and take pictures. I liked not being called a prevent and being chased around by angry girls. However, that didn't mean that if a girl was standing above me and the angle was there…

It didn't really matter in the end. I had a suspicion that Jiraiya just wanted to dump me off somewhere that would keep me held down. Apparently, this place was like a boarding school. Thankfully, it wasn't an all-boys school. Jiraiya would never condemn me to a fate like that one. Who wanted to be stuck around with nothing but guys in a high school?

Thinking about the school…

Now the thing that got me was the name for this high school. Yōkai Academy. Seriously? What a weird name. The Hell was that name? It was odd for sure. The building looked like an old mansion from the eighteen hundreds on the front of the pamphlet. I read over it a couple of times, and the school did just seemed to be a random high school out somewhere in the countryside. Well, I did like the country compared to the cities even after living in La. I loved the forest more, though. I loved the trees and the feeling of Nature.

I stretched my hands over my head as I yawn out loud. 'Asshole, he kicked me out of the house too God damn early. I've been waiting for this God-forsaken bus for two hours!' Not soon after the thought popped up in my head, a small yellow and green bus pulled up to the bus stop. The sign on the top of the bus read 'Yōkai Academy.' I felt myself ease up at the sight of the bus. 'Thank you, God, for listening!' I pulled out my iPod and shut it off, putting my headphones away.

The bus's doors open for me to enter. I picked up my black bag and got ready to enter. I stopped when I saw the man driving the bus. The bus driver was wearing a blue uniform; complete was a bus cap on his head. He has a small mustache, a cigar hanging from his lips, but the one thing that stopped me from getting into the bus was his eyes.

They were glowing white. "You're going to Yōkai Academy?" Yep, that voice was also out of this world as well. I had seen some pretty weird stuff in my days, but this was on a whole other level. It sent a shiver down my back as those eyes pierced down at me. I was losing my nerves fast. Those eyes and the grin the man wore got wider.

"Yeah," I mustered the bravo I had lost seeing the man's eyes as they peered down at me. The bus driver gestured with his head, and I climbed up the stairs with newfound caution. When I got to the top of the stairs, I saw an almost empty bus. There was only one other student on the bus. He was looking at me with mild interest. 'Cool, I can make a friend before I even arrive at the place.'

Before I could do anything, the bus's doors closed, and I heard the man to the side of me speak up again with that creepy deep voice of his, "I'd watch my back if I were you. The academy can be a very frightening place."

I frowned at that but chose not to look at him, "Why's that?" I asked, not liking the mysterious tone the man was using. It reminds me of how Jiraiya talks to me when he's hiding something important from me. He was leaving out all the keys to why this place I was going to was so frightening.

The driver chuckled as he looked back to the street. "Trust me, you will see for yourself."

I scowled at the driver before storming off to sit by the other teen on the bus. 'At least he gave me a warning about the place.' I pondered angrily. I sat down in the seat on the opposite side of the aisle from the other student. I put my bag by the window seat and faced the other teen who was gazing at me.

The other Male teenager has black-brown hair, brown eyes and a relatively athletic and slender physique, and light-colored skin. He was wearing the same uniform as me, but his uniform was done up a lot more. His green blazer was buttoned with a white shirt and a red tie around his neck. He has brown loafers on his feet. He looks pretty much standard compared to the bus driver.

I grinned at the other teenager, "Yo, the names Uzumaki Naruto, you know."

The other teen looked a little nervous at me introducing myself to him. He was probably just worried about his introduction. I changed my grin for a smaller smile in the hopes of getting rid of any fear of me being aggressive towards him. I did look like what Japanese people would call a troublemaker after all. The brown-haired teenager got over his fear or worry. My good-natured attitude overrode any lingering fear he might have had with me. "Hello, Uzumaki-san," He smiled at me, "My name is Aono Tsukune." He paused to think of something to say to me. "Is this your first time at Yōkai academy?"

I nodded to the question, "Sure is," I shot the bus driver a glare, "Can't say the name of the place doesn't do it any favors." I leaned closer to Tsukune, "The bus driver doesn't help either." Tsukune gave an amused chuckle. I back away from him, "What about you? You a first year too?"

This meeting was how I made my first friend at Yōkai Academy. We continued to talk the whole trip, and I would occasionally catch the bus driver looking at us from his rearview mirror.

"What do you mean you have never heard of Dead Space!" I exclaimed rather loudly, "The game is literally coming out this October! I'm so excited! It looks so good for a third-person shooter."

Tsukune smiled at my enthusiasm, "I'll have to look it up, I've been playing a little too much Tale of Vesperia."

I looked at him with a questioning look, "How is that game?"

Tsukune's face brightened for a moment, "Oh, it's really-"

Our conversion was stopped when Tsukune's cell phone went off. Apparently, it was his cousin calling to let him know that she had done some research about the odd academic campus. I watched the conversation with eagerness as the rolling countryside was ended thanks to the help of a dark tunnel. It was a little too dark and long. 'The fuck is this, the 2nd Street Tunnel?'

"Well, that's odd," Tsukune spoke up, looking confused. I raised an eyebrow at him, and he looks at me. "I just lost my signal," he snapped his fingers, "like that."

I scratched the back of my head in confusion, "Maybe it's the tunnel?" I reasoned with my new friend.

Tsukune shook his head, "I don't really think-"

The bus came to a stop as they arrived at what was the supposed campus. "We're here." The spooky voice of the bus driver announced to them. I frowned as I watched Tsukune put his phone away. He grabbed his stuff; I moved my legs so the teen can get by, and he began walking down the aisle. I sighed to myself as I stood up, ready to follow after him. I reached over to grab my bag and glanced out the window. My eyes widened in shock, or was it horror? "The Fuck?!" I wondered out loud. I looked to see the bus driver grinning at me in the mirror. I felt a ping of fear spike up at that.

'Now this is freaky. No wonder the bus driver said this place was horrifying! Look at it!' I ranted to myself as I was completely caught off guard by the setting I found myself in. I was quick to follow after Tsukune, who still had yet to realize what I had. I caught up to Tsukune at the stairs leading down to the barren blown ground. I descended with the other teen.

When I reached the bottom of the stairs, I heard the bus driver once again. "I warned you two."

I gulped, still in awe by everything around me, "Yeah, you did." I looked away at my surroundings before looking back, "I wish I had done a better job listening, though."

The bus driver laughed darkly, "Don't worry too much about its appearance; everything else only gets worse after this. I hope you both survive this school." The doors closed but not before I heard the man cackling like a madman. The bus drove off, turned around, and went back through the tunnel. I eyed the bus the whole time until it was out of sight.

"Holy crap," Tsukune exclaimed. I looked over at my new friend to see him shaking as he finally noticed the world around us.

"I have been to a couple of different countries, and I can tell you right now that I have never seen anything like this," I said, still observing the area. I did not like it all. I was out of my comfort zone in this place. It looked like Hell.

It looked like something out of a horror movie—the kind where you get brought to this whole new world, and everything was trying to kill you. 'L-look at this place…, Dead trees all over, skulls, an ocean of blood, and then there was scarecrow by the tunnel.' I narrowed my eyes at the thing on a stick and started to walk over to it. Tsukune called after me seeing me leave his side. I had noticed him edging closer to myself. I didn't mind; conquer fear with numbers after all! "H-Hey, where are you going?"

"I wanna see what that paper around the scarecrow's neck says." I waved for the other teen to follow me. Tsukune jogged up to me, no doubt glad I waved him over. I couldn't blame him. This place was putting my nervousness on overdrive.

We both reached the scarecrow to see that the paper around its neck was a schedule, a bus schedule. Dread filled my stomach. "This sucks!" I raged seeing it.

"Next month? A monthly schedule?!" I could tell this put off Tsukune. I couldn't blame him; I was pissed.

'Next time I see Jiraiya, I am going to kill him.' I, well, us, literally can't leave at any time. We had to try again on the fifth of next month. "Great, just great! We are stuck in Halloween world! Look at this place! I mean, even the sky is completely dark and overcast. It's like it's stuck in a constant twilight! I would hate to see this place at night! Where are we?"

I saw Tsukune smile, unsure if he should say something. He decided to go ahead, "Well, obviously, we are at Yōkai Academy."

I Deadpanned at the teen, trying to lighten up the mood, "Good one."

"Uh, thanks." He rubbed the back of his neck.

I shook my head, going along with Tsukune, "Well, now we know why they didn't have many pictures of the academy! I guess they never heard of location, location, location, you know!"

Tsukune snorted, "I think that only applies to movies, Uzumaki-san."

I frowned at him, "Hey, from now, just call me Naruto, we are friends, right Tsukune?"

The teen smiled brightly at me, which I returned, "Of course, Naruto-san!"

"Great!" I clapped my hands together, "Let's get a move on then. The faster we get off this cliffside, the sooner I don't have to look at a sea that reminds me all too much of blood. Hell, it smells like death too."

"Yeah, I couldn't agree more!" Tsukune agreed with a hurried nod as he fell in step with me. We followed the worn dirt path through the dead forest. My eyes were looking all over the place. There were even more skulls just lying around, tombstones, fallen trees, and dead grass. An idea came to me as I snapped my fingers, catching my friend's curious but fearful l gaze, "What is it?"

"Do you think they made this place look as creepy as possible to keep the students from leaving? If so, they are doing a great job." I said the theory to the other male on my right side.

Tsukune was still taking in his surroundings like something was going to jump out at him at any moment like they were in a horror film. "Don't you think that this is taking it to an extreme if that were the case?"

I shrugged my shoulders at his question, "I don't know, man, you know how us teenagers can sometimes be." The conversation lulled, and I still kept up my guard. I paused when the squeaking of bats erupted from the trees above us! I covered my head as they dived bombed us, "Shit!"

Tsukune jumped from sudden attack with a cry and hid behind me, which was odd because I was shorter than him! "Bats!"

"Oi!" I yelled at the other teen, I was shorter than him, and he was hiding behind me? The Hell? I watched the bats as they flew around. "Make it stop!" My call must have caused the bats to scatter. "Oh, good, it's over," I mumbled to myself, looking around holding a hand to my heart. "Man, what a creep-fest! What's next? A guy with a chainsaw coming after us?"

"Please keep those comments to yourself!" Tsukune whined at me. Don't tell me he actually believes in jinxes?

I waved off the teen's concern, "Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's keep moving before that does happen." I heard something, 'Pedaling?'

"Look out!"

I feminine cry let out. I grabbed Tsukune and dove out of the way of the incoming biker. 'Holy Hell! How fast is she going on that bike!' I wondered to myself as the girl with long straight pink hair zoomed by us. She was wearing the same uniform as us, minus her plaid khaki skirt. I felt a pang of anger as the girl didn't even apologize for almost running us over, "OI! Watch where you are going with that thing!" I roared after the girl as I shot up to my feet.

We heard a long sorry being called out from far ahead of us. Well, that happened.

Tsukune climbed up to stand as well but a lot slower than I. "Ugh, why would you be riding a bike that fast if you couldn't control it?" Tsukune shook his head as he rubbed his lower back.

"You alright?" I asked, looking him over. He seemed to be fine from what I could see. Maybe just a little dirty. Well, we both were having to dive down in the dirt like that.

"Besides smelling like dirt? Yeah." Tsukune grumbled.

I laughed at him, "I guess we smell the same now. We shouldn't be too far away from the school if we are already seeing other students."

He slammed a fist in his hands, "You're right. Wait, did you catch a look at that girl."

"Just the back of her head. She had long pink hair. That's all I got from an upwards glance." I told him. He frowned but didn't say more. We moved once again, heading in the direction the girl went. "Man, I can't wait to leave this dead forest."

"Yeah, it's pretty weird and dark in here. I think you might be right about them using this place to keep students here. Wait, did you say pink hair?" The taller male asked.

"Yeah, it was the damndest thing." I grinned at him feeling my inner strength coming back in a wave, "Ha, too bad their little tricks won't get to me. For I am the master prankster, Uzumaki Naruto!" I pointed to myself confidently. I just had to remind myself.

Tsukune seems to get over his nervousness when he saw me change my attitude. "You're a master prankster?"

I smiled even more extensively at the question, "Oh, but of course! It was the one thing I was always good at and never had to work for. Everything else I did took hard work and lots of time, you know."

After a while, we finally arrive at the school, and it looked just the same in the picture. However, it seems far older and scarier in person. Yes, this was definitely a Halloween school. "Sweet, we made it without losing our heads." I jested to Tsukune.

Tsukune was looking around at all the students walking around not really paying much attention to what I said. They all didn't seem to be bothered by the place. They seemed pretty cheerful. "Huh, I guess we should head over to where they are having orientation?" Tsukune asked more to himself rather than to me. I still decided to answer his question.

I nodded my head, "You think we will have time to look around? I want to see all of this place before the day is over."

"I don't know if that is possible, Naruto. This place is huge. It's supposed to hold like four thousand students or more." Tsukune stated that fact to me.

I whistled at the number, "Damn, that a lot of teenagers. I wonder how the staff deals with it?" I asked myself. "Okay, Tsukune! Let's head to Orientation!" I cheered but stopped. "Where is orientation suppose to be?"

Tsukune shrugged, "Uhh," he pulled his school's schedule. "It says the gymnasium?"

"Cool, so all we got to do is head over there. It's by the track, right?" I asked, looking around at the other teens walking around. 'Man, I hate wearing this stuffy uniform, but it does look good on those girls over there.'

"Hey, we should see if we have classes together!" Tsukune called, getting my attention off of the girls in front of us.

I grinned, "Yeah, hold up, let me get mine out!" I said, looking through my disorganized backpack. "The fuck did I, oh! There it is!" I finished pulling out a wrinkled piece of paper. I heard the teen next to me chuckle; I raised an eyebrow at him, "What?"

"Man, you got to take care of your papers. Do you turn in your homework like that?" Tsukune asked with some mirth in his voice.

I frown at him and grumbled out ass under my breath. "Whatever, anyway, what is your first period?"

"Homeroom with Nekonome-sensei." Tsukune read aloud. I nodded along as he listed all the classes.

I whistled, "Man, we lucked out; we share all of our classes, you know!"

"No way! For real?"

I held out my own schedule so he could read it. "Yep, read it and rejoice."

He took it out of my hands and read it over, "Man, this is great! Besides the location, this hasn't been too bad!"

"I know, right?" I added, before I realized something and looked down at my phone's screen, "Wait, what time is Orientation?"

"It says nine o clock sharp."

"Ahh," I sounded, looking at the time on my phone. Tsukune turned his gaze at me. I put my phone away and took my schedule from him. I put my school plan away, and I smiled at him once I was done.

He raised his hands in the air in a questioning manner, "What's the verdict?"

I clapped my hands together, "About seven minutes from now!" I informed him.

"WHAT?!" He yelled in shock before running off to the back of the building.

My eyes widened as I hurried after, "Whoa, hey, wait up, Tsukune!"

He called to me, "We're going to be late!"

"So?" I called back to him.

"We will look like we are delinquents!"

"God forbid!" I shook my head, catching up to him. "We arrive fashionably late; now it looks like we are a bunch of losers going to miss class. Image my young Tsukune! It's the image!"

"I refuse to be late on the first day!"

I sighed, "Then make it look like a jog; a dead sprint will make you out of breath and it will look bad to the other kids. It will make you look like a weakling to the rest of the class." I told him informatively knowing how important our image is at school. He turn his head to look at me, "Slow it down; we will make it there. It's not that far away!"

"Fine." Tsukene sighed and slowed his pace.

"You make it sound like I'm pulling teeth!" I laughed. We slowed down, and we made it just in time. As we walked through the gymnasium's doors, I could help but note how big it was. "Damn, it's huge!" It looked pretty much like any gymnasium with hard brown wooden floors. A 'YA' was written on center court. There was also a stage at the front of the court too. There was even a skylight on the ceiling. I also noticed that the place was packed. There was a group of teachers standing by the stage but not moving too much. 'I don't think they would be using the stage to address the crowd there are too many students that will have to crane their neck to just see them,' I thought. "Whoa, there's got to be at least a thousand Freshmen."

"Man, there are no seats left!" Tsukune complained. I hemmed in thought as I tried to locate a spot too. "Are we gonna have to sit on the floor?"

"I ain't sitting on the floor where a thousand people have already walked on," I told him as I looked around. I found a seat at the very end of the bleacher's bottom row closest to where we were on our left. "Look there is a spot open right there at the end; I'll just lean against the bleachers next to you." I gestured with my thumb.

"Wait, you mean by that girl." Tsukune inquired. I looked at the spot I had pointed out then to the girl. There was indeed a girl there. She had long wavy blond hair with orange eyes and wore the standard uniform of the school. However, she looked very foreign much like me. She was either European or American. Then again there was a mix of nationalities here too from what I noticed. There were many cultures here.

"Yeah, I'm sure she won't bite your head off," I told him as I rolled my eyes started walking towards my spot. We made it to our places without a problem. We had to be the last of the class too.

We waited a bit before a few teachers came to the front. "Good morning, Freshmen class of twenty-twelve! I am Kagome Ririko. I am the head mathematics teacher here for all first-year students. As well as homeroom Teacher for section B," My eyes widened at the look the teacher had on.

'Dah fuck is that?! That's a lot, a lot of skin teach.' The woman has light-colored hair with circular glasses over her eyes. She was wearing a white v-neck shirt with a wide collar that reveals some of her cleavage and a dark skirt. 'I might have to pay attention in math for once.'

"Today, you will have only one class, homeroom. Class A will meet in room one hundred with Nekonome Shizuka; Class B will meet in room one-o-five with me," I assumed the loud cheers from a small part of the male class were very happy to have her as a teacher. "Class C will meet in room one-ten with Endo Maki; Class D will-" I stopped listing to her as she kept listing classes off.

"This is going to take forever," I commented. It looked like there were at least a thousand students in the twenty-twelve group alone. Finally, the teacher stopped announcing the classes and homeroom teacher.

"Now, we shall talk about your textbooks. They have already been delivered to your dorms. You will receive your dorm key after orientation in your designated dormitory. The male dormitory is located on the right, and the female dormitory is on the left. Now I will allow the Physical Education instructor and coach of the baseball and soccer team to speak."

"My name is Kotsubo Okuto," The man was tall with blond hair, a small beard, and black eyes. He was wearing a white with green stripes track outfit with the symbol of Yōkai Academy on it. "Tryouts for the sports teams will be posted on the board by the athletic office. The fall season starts very soon, on the 24. On the 21 we have tryouts. If you are interested, take a look."

I rubbed my chin in thought. Playing soccer again would be fun. I could show everyone how good I was. "I might take him up on that."

Tsukune shot a glance at me. He gave me a hushed whisper, "What's up?"

"I might do the tryouts depending on what sports are played in the fall here," I told my friend.

"Now the class of twenty-twelve, you will have the rest of your orientation with your homeroom teacher. With that said, you are dismissed." The math teacher dismissed the crowd of students.

I stretched my hands over my head, "That wasn't as long as I thought it was going to be. Though, I guess it isn't over yet."

"Yeah, I thought it would be more informative." Tsukune join in, getting up from his seat. We watch as the girl that Tsukune was sitting next to got up left. "Wow."

"Hm, oh, looking at the girls, eh Tsukune?" I joked, watching the girl as well. "Yeah, she's hot."

"I mean, it's like all the girls here are good-looking. I haven't seen something like that before."

"Well, let's not just waste time watching skirts and get to class, or do you wanna be late?" I poked fun at his little panic attack he had earlier at almost being later to orientation.

"No, we can be late! We have to pick good spots in the classroom!" He declared already moving.

I sighed and shook my head at him, "I figured that would get you up. Let's go."

We managed to break away from the crowd of students and start room hunting. "Okay, this isn't all that hard. Just follow the numbers at they descend."

"I would have never guessed!"

"I was talking to myself, Naruto-san."

"Oh, I know that." I got the other teen to growl. "Calm down, look, the numbers are going down, there's room one-ten right there. We are not that far away."

"Right, I'm just nervous," Tsukune uttered loud enough for me to hear.

"You'll be fine!" I reassured my friend, "We already got past the creepiest part of the school. I'm sure it can't get any worse."

He rubbed the back of his neck and sighed, "Yeah, you're probably right."

We entered the room, and the seats were starting to fill up. There was a seat by the back window. I grinned, seeing a free seat in front of it. "Hey, what about back there by the window. Two seats, open."

"It's in the back, though. Won't it be hard for you to see?"

I frowned, detecting a short joking, "Was that a short joke, Tsukune?"

"I'm only joking, Naruto-san. Call it payback." The taller teen shrugged.

"Fine, let's just sit down," I grumbled with a scowl. We walked to the seats by the window and waited for the class to start. I started to look around at the rest of the class. Everybody was wearing the same uniform. However, some people had blue, green, purple, red, and even pink hair color. Yep, a diverse group of people. Some had piercings, some looked young, one looked like he should have already passed by now, and others wore the uniform differently, like some wore bow ties or even ribbons. I had noticed that some people were wearing gold sweaters.

'Wait, pink hair?' I looked to the front of the room. My eyes widen, 'That's the girl that almost ran over Tsukune and me! We have the same class- is that a choker?!' I was so dumbfounded by seeing a choker on the girl I had missed the teacher entering the classroom.

"Good morning, class!" The teacher announced cheerfully. The teacher has sandy blond hair shaped like cat ears while wearing a white blouse, orange skirt, low heel sandals, and light blue eyes. She put a book and a clipboard on her table. "Welcome to your first day at Yōkai Academy! I'm your homeroom teacher, Nekonome Shizuka." She welcomed her classed and introduced herself. She moved behind her desk as she wrote her name on the chalkboard. "Today, we are going to go over the history of the school, its purpose, and its rules. We will take a lunch break at eleven. We will return at noon, and at fourteen hundred, you will be dismissed to explore the school or your dorms! With that out of the way, let us go over the history of Yōkai Academy, or I should say the Japan branch."

'Man, she is so cheerful that her eyes are always smiling!' I thought with a smile of my own. 'Cute too!'

"But first, let's start with rollcall!" She announced, pulling out a clipboard from the desk. Rollcall was over longer than expected as there were forty students and all the students were here.

"Yōkai Academy, the original one, was built in the Dual Monarchy of Austria-Hungary in eighteen-seventy-four close to the first capital of Vienna. The three dark lords created the school to best help monsters fit in with humans."

My mouth dropped a bit and formed an 'o'. I tapped Tsukune on the back. The boy flinched but slowly turned towards me. "Did she just say monsters?" I whispered to him.

"Hey, I'm just as lost as you," He admitted whispering back to me.

"I don't know what the Hell that means, but I think we should keep quiet and see where this goes," I told him carefully.

"Yeah, good idea," Tsukune replied become more relieved. If I had to guess that Tsukune was happy that he wasn't the only one thinking something was up. He turning around to face the teacher.

I frowned to myself. 'It couldn't get creeper, ay Naruto?!' I screamed at myself. 'Tsukune was right! I jinxed us fucking hard if this isn't a joke!'

"After the first successful graduating class, more branches were open. The Japan branch was opened in nineteen-o-two. Our first successful class graduated in nineteen-o-six! The core mission behind Yōkai Academy is coexistences between monsters and humans. Our job here is to help prepare students for the world outside the portals and separate dimensions. With time you should be able to fit in with Humans without problems!"

"Come on teach; I say we just kill and eat all the males and take all of their women for ourselves. That's all they're good for. I mean, we are strong than them, faster than them, we should just dominate them. Not like they could fight back with how weak they are." Some teen with piercings said. He had one below his right bottom lip. Three hopped ear-rings in his ears two in his left one in his right. He had messy brown hair and was tall. He was leaning back in his seat totally causal like what he said was crazy or fucking wild.

My eyes widened at the absolute craziness of the monster; a long tongue shot out of his mouth. I looked away from the…, thing. I could see my friend in the window. I looked to see Tsukune quite literally shaking in his desk. His journal covering the front of his face. 'Shit, I know how he feels but shit some of the other students are looking this way!'

I glance away from Tsukune to see the teacher's blue eyes for a single second; two black slits were there where the circular pupils should have been. "Well," she looked down at her clipboard and smiled at him, "Komiya Saizou, that was the opinion of many monsters before you. They had caused almost every single species of monster to become extinct during the dark ages. Humans outnumber us by well over six billion."

"Whatever, six billion, eight billion, they are just scum. They smell bad too. I think I smelt one this morning." He sniffed, looking around the room.

The teacher shook her head, "That's impossible; no human can get inside the barrier. Even if they did, they would be publicly executed in front of the student body!"

My eyes widened at that. 'How could she say that so cheerfully!' I wondered. 'That a big fucking Hmm! If Tsukune and I are both humans, then two got in under your noses! This had to be what the bus driver was talking about! Wait, did he know we were humans?! Why did he let us get through?! Unreal?!' I grabbed my hand to stop it from shaking any more, 'Something is afoot here. I don't like it!'

"I don't like humans much." That got the whole class's attention, "They can be so cruel, mean, and hateful. I can't see how we can peacefully coexist." That came from the pink-haired girl. The teacher frowned as multiple other students called out in agreement with the other two.

The sheer audacity to say that after a monster literally said he wanted to rape, kill, and eat my kind?! Man, this really is some backwards Holloween world! The class was cheering, 'So much for coexistence! They are definitely for filling their namesakes!'

"Humans suck!"

"Yeah, kill them!"

The teacher looked utterly out of her element, seeing that the class had taken over momentarily. "Okay, quiet down, class! We still have to go over school rules." The class hadn't calmed down.

"Tsukune, Tsukune!" I managed to get his attention to realize just how fearful he was. I was too, but I couldn't allow to show it. There was a time to show fear, but now wasn't an excellent time to do so. Being in the middle of a class full of monsters was not a good time to show fear. The moment I saw what these monsters looked like, that was a time I really feared for. "We need to talk after class; this is some horror movie bullshit, you know."

"R-R-Right, You're like me, r-right?" He asked, his voice was shaky. "I-I mean those w-w-whiskers on your cheeks."

"Yeah, we're the same, I was born with them. My guardian said they are birthmarks." I told him. He seemed to light up only a bit. "Let's just not draw any attention to us. You shaking up a storm has only been getting you looks from the other students." I informed seriously. "We'll be alright, but you got to calm down!"

"R-Right, b-b-but you heard them!"

"I did," I started, but after a few minutes to the teacher finally got her class under control.

"Now then," Her cheerfulness was replaced with seriousness, "I shall go over the school rules. Rule one: you are to stay in your Human forms at all times. This school promotes human and monster coexistence. Rule Two: you are not allowed to tell each other your monster forms. They are meant to be a secret. Rule three: you need to stay on school grounds inside the barrier unless given leave or approval by the Headmaster. Rule four: there is no smoking in the-"

*ring*ring*ring*ring*ring*ring*ring*ring*

The bell rang, letting us know the class was over for now. "After lunch, we will meet back here at noon! You are dismissed." The class got up and left, leaving only me and Tsukune to get up slowly.

I looked over at the teacher; I gestured to the door for Tsukune as I walked up to her. Tsukune moved with me not taking my advice. He looked terrified that I was approaching the teacher. I had a good feeling about her. She obviously cared about her job. "Don't worry, teach! They will change their minds eventually; I'm sure you will bring them around." I told the woman who had plopped down into her seat once class left. She smiled at Tsukune and me.

"Oh, that's wonderful—are you in the same camp as Uzumaki-san, Aono-san?" She got a swift nod from the teen that wanted to flee. "Two open-minded students! I can't wait to see your performance."

I rubbed the back of my head, "Yeah, class performance. We'll see you later, teach!" I told her, waving her good-bye. She did not want to see what my homework was going to look like.

Tsukune and I moved through the empty hallway. These monsters were fast, they didn't play when it came to food. We left the main building and stood under some trees far from sight. "So that happened." I frowned, watching the way we came as I slid down the tree's trunk.

"Yeah, what are we gonna do?" Tsukune asked, looking down at me.

"Survive."

Tsukune blinked, "No, we should leave!"

"We can't leave Tsukune! You saw the bus schedule with me! It isn't coming back until next month! We have no idea how this place works or anything. The best thing for us to do right now is to keep our heads low, you know." I told him from my place on the ground.

"Man, we are so doomed." The taller teen whined.

"Possibly," I sighed.

"How could be so calm about this, Naruto-san?!"

"I'm not!" I yelled back at him. "You think I'm not scared. I'm just better at hiding it." I shook my head to clear it, "Well, if we are stuck here, we need to learn what we are dealing with. We need to research the types of monsters there are, their weaknesses, their strengths, that sort of thing." I finished laying down a start of a plan.

Tsukune gave a nod of his head to that, "That's a pretty good idea. Maybe we could also learn more about the surrounding area?"

"Yes, that's a good idea too." I agreed with him. "All right Tsukune, you will look through the library to see what you can find. I don't think you will any problems in the library since no one is going to be checking out books on the first day. Since I am the 'fearless one'" I air quoted that, " I will explore the school grounds to see what I can find. Maybe I will find a map of some sort. I think I'll ask teacher Nekonome if there is a map I can have or something." I brainstormed.

"That sounds like a plan, Naruto-san. Right, let's go get something to eat."

"That sounds good. You think they got normal food here?" I asked him, and he shrugged.

"I'm sure that they do. It's a school that teaches monsters to fit in with Humans. They have to have human foods." Tsukune explained and guessed at the same time.

I grinned, rubbing my belly, "I hope they got some ramen. I could go for a bowl or two, you know."

Author's notes: I hope you all enjoyed it. If this does well, I'll update it again. Side note, Naruto says you know in English. I spoke English first. Japanese second. It makes no sense for him to say it in Japanese or say dattebayo. Also, I went in on 1/27/2021 to fix some small issues I found with the chapter.

Enjoy it? Needs work? Got Comments? Let me know by writing a review!
