Fully morphed and ready for battle, the three Din Rangers moved cautiously through one of the abandoned quarries on the edge of the city. They had already searched three different quarries that afternoon for a mysterious signal that Chip had detected but so far they were drawing a blank, "Maybe this is one of Those Mystic Force lessons", Demi suggested, "like a test of our patience or something".
Rolling her eyes, Jessi responded, "We wouldn't be morphed without a good reason".
Ruby meanwhile was trying to sense any additional presences in the area. Sighing in frustration, she reached for her communicator, "Chip there's nothing out here", she began, "are you sure the signal's still in the area".
"I find you lack of faith in my computer disturbing", Chip snarked back, "the energy signature's still out there and its similar to the ones on your morphers".
"Other rangers?" Jessi asked.
"No everyone's currently accounted for", Chip replied, "the signal's getting stronger and it's moved to about 300 hundred meters to the north east".
"Fine", Ruby groaned, "we'll keep looking but if we don't find anything in the next ten minutes we're coming back", she abruptly cut off communications and pointed in the direction Chip had given them.
Looking down over the Dino Rangers, Hunter and Izzy were also morphed and ready to fight. The sibling rangers shook their heads as the fire squad continued their fruitless search, "Look at them", Hunter began, "two hours of searching and they haven't even thought to look up".
"As much fun as it is leading those guys on a wild goose chase", Izzy began, "shall we get this over with? I'd like to finish this off before dinner time".
Hunter nodded and drew his sword, "I'm thinking pizza at tonight", he joked and the pair jumped down to the floor below.
The Dino Rangers were startled when the two Sibling Rangers landed in front of them. For a few moments no one moved as a silent tension descended on the quarry. "No way", Demi broke the silence, "man you guys are dumb", he slowly began to approach the newcomers.
"Guys keep back", Ruby called out but it was too late. Demi reached out towards Izzy, "Look we don't want any trouble," Ruby added.
"What if we do?" Hunter sneered, he turned to the blue ranger and kicked him hard in the stomach. Demi was pushed back but he didn't fall down, instead he staggered into line with Ruby.
"Hey that wasn't called for", Jessi began.
Hunter swung his sword towards the unprepared pink ranger but fortunately for her, Ruby intercepted it with her own sword, "At least one of you isn't incompetent", he said to the red ranger.
"I don't want to hurt you", Ruby spat, "but you leaving me no choice".
"Trust me, you won't hurt us", Izzy chuckled and slashed the red ranger in the arm. Ruby dropped her stance which left her open to a stiff kick in the ribs from Hunter. The red ranger rolled across the ground and held her chest in pain, "This is your final warning", Izzy continued, "surrender now".
The three Dino Rangers froze for a moment but all it took was a silent look between them to decide on their next course of action. They quickly pulled out their swords and charged, attempting to confuse the Sibling Rangers. Hunter though just scoffed at the trick and pointed to spot above green's head. They both slashed, the renegade ranger's stopped the Dino Rangers in their tracks. The trio skidded across the dirt in a heap, "Using rangers tactics against us", the black ranger called out, "not going to work. Seriously did you morons fail ranger 101 or something".
"These guys are getting on my last nerve", Demi was quickly on his feet and unleashed a barrage of kicks against the arrogant black ranger. A couple of blows found their target but on the whole, Hunter was equal to the blue ranger, Hunter caught Demi's arm and twisted it behind his back. He pushed the blue ranger away and slashed his back. Demi cried out in pain and fell to the ground.
Izzy meanwhile was caught in a two on one battle against Ruby and Jessi. The Green Ranger leapt over the pink rangers sword and blocked her next attack, "I do like a feisty woman", Izzy chuckled as she grabbed the girl's wrist.
Jessi wrenched he arm free and kicked Izzy in the abdomen, perhaps a little further south than the Green Ranger was expecting, "Feisty enough for you", she spat back.
"Trust me sweetheart, we're just getting warmed up", Izzy groaned and dropped to the ground. The pair thought she was defeated but instead Izzy slashed at the back of their legs. Ruby and Jessi stumbled backwards, giving the green Ranger enough time to leap back to her feet. Her weapon crackled with dark green energy. She slashed the two rangers and it caught them across the chest. The extra energy charge knocked the pair into the air and they crashed back to earth with mighty thud.
"This is even more disappointing then I thought it would be", Hunter sighed. He surveyed the fallen ranger's but to his surprise, they were slowly getting to their feet, "They're a resilient bunch aren't they", he said.
"We have been going easy on them", Izzy added, "maybe it's time to show them the true power of the Dino's". The pair raised their sword, and charged them with purple and green energy. They waited for the rangers to get to their feet and unleashed the energy in a slash at the unsuspecting teens.
When the attack hit the Dino Rangers it felt like every single muscle in their body was crying out in pain. The surge felt like it was going on forever but it was their bodies that finally gave out. Their legs crumpled underneath them and they fell to the ground. Jessi coughed deeply and Ruby twitched involuntarily, residual energy still surging through his system. "Listen up Dino rangers", Hunter began, "there's no way your going to defeat us".
"Yea", Izzy added, "the choice is yours, stay out of our way or face the consequences".
"We'll be ready for round two", Hunter chuckled to himself, "will you?" The Sibling Rangers turned around and walked away. The Dino Rangers groaned in pain and their morphed failed, leaving them exposed in their normal clothes in the middle of the quarry.
Root core
"Man that sucked", Demi groaned. He held an ice pack to the back of head to reduce some bruising from Sibling rangers attack, "Look, my arm's still twitching", the finger's on his left hand spasmed periodically.
The Dino Rangers still weren't sure how they made it back to base. A mixture of resilience and self preservation had seen them arrive at the edge of City. Chip picked and teleported them the rest of the way as they were too exhausted to move another inch. None of them had suffered any serious injuries, the most damage they had sustained was to their egos, "I get the feeling they were holding back", Jessi added as she stretched a couple of stiff muscles in her neck.
"We were ambushed", Ruby hissed, "and they were toying with us", she shook her head, "fucking Rangers".
"Emotions are high on both sides", Chip interjected to their conversation but aimed his words at the whole group. "Both sides have lost some of them will not be returned to us". He paused to let that sink in, "They fight with passion and they believe their cause is the right one. Sadly that is a potentially dangerous mix for us. I would suggest extra vigilance because it seems they know us but we don't know them".
"That should be our first priority", Demi added, "we'll keep our eyes and ears open around the city, see if anyone fits their description".
"Yeah and once we know where they are...", Jessi began.
"We'll call it in and not face them alone", Ruby interrupted the pink ranger. "Clearly they're not afraid to use dangerous levels of force against us so don't rush into a fight".
"Don't worry they caught us out once", Demi said firmly, "that's not going to happen again". He looked at his watch, "I need sleep".
Chip sighed " I think you need a better mentor then me " he said " And i think i know who "
