When you think of destiny, you believe in getting famous, being rich, or ruling the world. That wasn't my dream. I didn't even know what I wanted yet.
Sighing, I forced myself to focus on the essay in front of me and wiped a black-and-white strand of hair from my face. I had been chewing the eraser nervously. The work would have been simple for anyone except for himself. But the concept of victory didn't fit.
"Kaekae! I've got the food done." A voice shouted from the ground floor. Sighing, he sat up in his chair and stretched before running out of his room. "My name isn't...that." He said blankly, sitting down at the round white table in the middle of the room.
He put one hand on his cheek and looked around the room. He wasn't that focused on the pretty white-and-brown aesthetic, though. The boy was drifting off, his mind somewhere else, as he kept thinking about the homework.
His thoughts were interrupted by a soft touch on his shoulder, and he jumped. "What have you thought of, cher garçon?" His boyfriend, Zinne, commented. He grumbled under his breath, bringing his legs up on the chair and wrapping his arms around them. "It can't be that bad."
Without any additional words spoken, Zinne smoothly placed a platter of bacon and toast in front of him, taking a seat as well with his plate. "It is kind of bad." He admitted, looking at his plate. Zinne proceeded to place the bacon on the toast, before replying "Remember that this assignment isn't about anyone else. You could also write about, for example, having children, Kame."
He pulled his chair back. "We are not adopting a kid, Zinne!" He cried. Zinne shrugged, taking a bite of his bacon toast and staring at him with green eyes. "I'm serious! We haven't even started college yet!" Kame fumed. Zinne gulped and said, "I know, silly."
The two finished eating, and Zinne washed the dishes. Kame hesitantly moved to the brown couch, and Zinne followed. "I still need help with the assignment." He said wearily.
"Tell you what- let's take a walk, okay? You can figure something out then, got it?" Zinne exclaimed, sitting up a moment later and dashing to put his shoes on. "Hey!" Zame cried, rushing to put his on first. By the time the black-and-white haired male finished putting on his coat, Zinne was heading out the door. With an angry shout, he followed, slamming the door shut and hurrying to lock it.
"You're dead to me." Zame retorted. Zinne just smiled cheekily and continued walking down the sidewalk. A while passed, and he stopped. "Do you want to go anywhere?" "What? Why would I?" "Just wondering." Zame scoffed at his boyfriend's reply before starting to run.
"Hey!" Zinne shouted, pounding after him. "You know I'm faster, boo!" Zame teased, looking back. Zinne stuck out his tongue, making him run even faster. "Okay, okay, geez! Just slow down." The other male panted, coming to a stop.
Zame was nearly about to slow as well, but suddenly he felt something catch his foot. He tripped face-forwards into the pavement. "Woah, are you okay?!" His boyfriend exclaimed, running up to him. Zame was a bit dizzy, but he lifted his hand to give him a thumbs-up. "Just a bit dizzy is all. What was that?"
Zinne looked behind him and felt his heart stop.
