Chapter 44

After eating their meal Jimmy had paid for a free bar at the hotel bar for the first hour.

"This man just loves to show off all his money doesn't he?" Tom said him and Kate and all the kids headed through to the bar.

The Murtaugh and Baker kids were all sitting together on a few sofas in the bar.

Henry went up to the bar to get all his siblings a soft drink, "Could I get Eight lemonades please," He asked.

"Eight?" the bar man asked.

"Yeah eight," Henry replied as Jake walked up to the bar to help Henry out.

"I know it's a free bar for an hour but I think ordering eight drinks might be taking advantage of Mr Murtaugh's generosity," The bar man replied, "I'm sure two will do you two fine".

"It's for all our us. It's for my brothers and sisters actually as well actually," Henry remarked.

"Your trying to tell me you parents had eight kids," The bar man asked not believing them.

"No twelve actually," Jake replied.

The bar man laughed, "Your parents obviously haven't heard of using contraception then".

"What did you just say!" Jake said raising his voice, "Don't disrespect my parents like that again you hear me!"

"Well come on twelve kids who in their right mind would have twelve kids that is just irresponsible," the bar man replied.

"I'll have you know my parents wanted a big family," Henry said as he got angry.

"Who do you think you are to judge my family! Because I tell you chose the wrong family to mess with," Jake threatened. Jake hated when people disrespected his family especially people who didn't even know them.

"What's going on over here?" Jimmy asked as he heard the shouting.

"This guy is disrespecting my family," Jake replied.

"Kate what is going on over there," Tom said as he noticed the situation that appeared to be going on with Jake and Henry as everyone else had now stopped what they were doing and were looking over at Jake, Henry the barman and now Jimmy.

"This kid was threatening me," The bar man claimed.

"Jake Henry! What is going on?" Kate asked.

"Apparently they were threatening this bar man here," Jimmy replied.

"No we weren't," Henry replied, "well only because he was disrespecting you and dad".

"You two get outside now," Tom ordered.

"This isn't fair it was him who started this. He shouldn't be allowed to work here if her going to talk to guests like that," Jake refused to go outside. He didn't see why he and Henry should be getting punished for this.

"Jake just go outside now" Kate told him again.

"What are you two playing at," Tom said as he raised his voice once they were outside, "We asked you to do one thing and that was to be on your best behaviour!"

"Do you two not have any manners," Kate added "you do not speak to people like that in a threatening manner,"

"Are you two not listening to me, that guy in there is one that doesn't know any manners. He was the one who was being disrespectful and insulting you guys for having twelve kids and claiming it was irresponsible and we're getting in trouble for this!" Jake was not happy as he didn't see what he did wrong.

"I want you to stay outside here until you have cooled down then come back in and apology to that guy!" Kate said as her and Tom walked back inside.

"Apologise! He is the one that needs to apologise to us!" Henry replied as his parents walked away.

"Kate maybe that guy did insult us so maybe we were a little bit harsh on them," Tom said as he sat down in the bar with Kate and he reflected on the situation.

"Maybe but he claims that he never said anything and that Jake and Henry were being threatening towards him," Kate said, "But that doesn't seem like them either".

"What exactly happened there?" Mark asked the other Baker and Murtaugh kids.

"I don't really know but what I do know is that Jake and Henry wouldn't lie about something like that which means that guy is a liar and has gotten Jake and Henry into trouble," Sarah replied. She knew that Jake and Henry would be telling the truth about this situation.

"They are telling the truth I heard the whole thing," Becky said as she sat down next to Sarah.

"You did?" Mike said.

"Yeah I went over to speak to my dad and then I was walking back over here to see you guys and as a I was walking over I seen the whole thing, I actually even stopped walking and just listened in and that bar man was out of order!" Becky explained.

"Becky come with me," Elliot said as he got up and walked towards the bar with Becky.

"We know you said to our friends and it is completely out of order and now you're lying about it," Elliot said.

"And what exactly are you going to do about it?" the guy replied.

"Well for starters our dad is the guy that is paying for all of this," Becky said.

"Your dad is Jimmy Murtaugh?" He asked.

"Yes he is," Becky replied, they could see the look of worry on the guys face.

"What's happening here," Jimmy asked as he walked over to speak to his kids.

"We were just telling this dude that we think what he said to Jake and Henry was totally uncalled for!" Elliot replied.

"Guys don't get involved we don't know what happened but from where I see it was Jake and Henry who was out of order!" Jimmy told his kids.

"No dad I heard the whole thing, Jake and Henry were telling the truth! Why do you always think so little of the Baker's I thought you had learnt your lesson dad!" Becky replied she was fed of her dad always thinking the worse of the Baker's.

Jimmy looked over at the bar man, "I think I will be having a word with your manager," Jimmy said.

"No please I need this job," The guy begged.

"Well you know where the boys parents are maybe you should apologise to them and then the boys," Jimmy said and then we'll see where to take it from there," Jimmy told the guy to see if Tom and Kate would want to take it any further.

The guy had apologised to Kate and Tom who then knew that as well as the bar man they also owed Jake and Henry an apology for not listening to them for when they tried to explain themselves. Tom and Kate had decided not to complain about the guy because they couldn't be bothered about the process of making a complaint and then the fact that the guy apologised they thought that he maybe had learnt his lesson.

Jake and Henry were still outside and were frustrated that their parents didn't believe them and were not even listening when they explained themselves.

"Henry, Jake," Tom said as he went outside with Kate, "We know that you guys were telling the truth and we want to apologise for not listening to you two".

"Even after we went inside we did think that it wasn't like you two to be threatening for no reason," Kate said.

"I told you we were telling the truth," Jake said, he was annoyed how even though his parents knew he probably was telling the truth they still told them to go outside and then apologise.

"I know but with the situation of Jimmy paying for everything and I knew he didn't believe you I didn't want to make the situation worse by then us arguing with this guy," Tom tried to explain. His kids were always causing trouble so he knew that Jimmy wouldn't believe them and he didn't want to ruin the night since Jimmy was paying for everything.

"It's not a good enough excuse for not believing us though," Henry said as him and Jake walked back inside and over towards the rest of the kids.

Once they had sat back down Sarah had explained the story to Jake of how that everyone now knew that they were telling the truth and how it was Becky who really solved the whole situation and how Elliot had helped her.

The bar man walked over towards them and asked to speak to Henry and Jake, "I just wanted to apologise what I said was totally out of order and I shouldn't have said it".

"I know you shouldn't have," Henry said, "But what's done is done and we aren't going to hold a grudge against it and I'm sure we'll forget about it," Henry replied to the guy. He knew he would probably never see the guy again so no point in dragging the situation out.

Jake sat next to Becky because he wanted to thank her for telling her dad how Jake and Henry were telling the truth.

"Becky I just wanted to say thank you for helping us out and proving that we were telling the truth," Jake smiled.

"It's okay, what that guy was saying was totally out of order so I couldn't just stand back and do nothing when I knew you were telling the truth," Becky replied, "Elliot helped out too".

"Yeah I already spoke to Elliot but he says it was all thanks to you," Jake said.

Tom came over to speak to his kids with one of the assistant coaches and there three kids.

"Hey guys this is Steve and his three kids, They were getting bored so I suggested they hang out with you guys," Tom said as he stood there with Steve and his two sons and one daughter.

"This is Tiffany," Tom said pointing to the girl, "And this is Rob and Brandon," as he then pointed to the three boys.

All of the Baker and Murtaugh kids then introduced themselves but it was unlikely that Tiffany, Rob and Brandon would be able to remember all of their names.

"So how old are you guys?" Kim asked them.

"I'm twelve," Said Tiffany, "And Rob is fifteen and Brandon is fourteen".

Mike was staring at Tiffany she was a very pretty girl, her hair was blond and it was long with lose curls, she had very green eyes and a few freckles around her cheek.

"Mike, Mike!" Jake shouted to get his attention, "Tiffany asked you a question!"

"Oh sorry," Mike replied.

"How old are you then?" she asked him.

"I'm twelve too," he replied.

"Looks like Mike may have a crush," Jake whispered to Sarah.

"I know it looks like it," Sarah replied as she noticed how nervous Mike was getting as he was speaking to Tiffany.

Jessica felt very alone even though she was surrounded by people. Kim had been a lot more civil to her than she had been recently but it still wasn't the same and Sarah still wasn't speaking to her. She had also has minimal conversation with Elliot as well because she knew it was awkward since Sarah was there and she would be watching them like a hawk.

"I think I'm going to head off to my bed now I'm tired," Jessica said to Mark who was sitting next to her.

"Where is she going?" Jake asked Mark as Jessica got up and left.

"She said she was going to her bed," Mark replied. Jake felt bad for Jessica because he knew she felt left out and like she couldn't be herself because of the current situation but he didn't want her being alone in her room and missing out on all the fun all weekend.

"Jess, Wait!" Jake shouted as he caught up with her, "Where are you going?"

"I'm going to my bed, it's all to awkward I can't be myself because I need to stay out of Kim and Sarah's way before I cause them more problems and get on the nerves. I'm trying my best to stay out their way and let things still be civil between us," Jessica replied.

"Look you need to just forget about them. It's up to them if they want to forgive you or not but I think you should just be yourself and not be all quiet. Don't change yourself because you are scared you will upset them. What's done is done so just move on from it and forget about Elliot too," Jake advised Jessica.

Jessica knew that he was right. She was also really suprosed by how nice Jake had been to her considering what she has done. He was the one who sat with her that lunch time when everyone was insulting her, he was the one who offered to walk with her to school instead of her walking herself and he was always making sure she was okay.

"Jake I just want to say thank you. You have been so nice to me after everything that has happened and I don't actually know what I would do without you. You've been there when I've had no one else," Jessica said as she hugged Jake.

Jake didn't realise how much he had been there for Jessica but the more he thought about it he had been there for her a lot throughout this situation. He has even lied to Sarah and not told her about Jessica and Elliot when he found out a couple days before everyone else did.

"I love you Jake, you're an amazing big brother," Jessica said as she let go of him after giving him a hug.

"I love you too Jessica and I know that you are genially sorry for what you've done and I know Sarah will see that soon," Jake replied, "so are you coming back through with the rest of us then?"

Jessica looked unsure.

"I'll sit next to you so you won't feel left out," Jake offered.

"Okay then, thanks so much Jake," Jessica smiled as she followed Jake back through to the area where they were sitting.

Sarah was staring at them when they walked in and Jessica knew that Sarah would be annoyed at Jake for Speaking to her.

Sarah rolled her eyes as she seen that Jake was being nice to Jessica. Jake was her closest sibling in the family and she couldn't understand how he could be so nice to Jessica and stand up for her after everything she did to her.

"Everything okay?" Elliot asked Sarah as he noticed her roll her eyes.

"Yeah everything is just great," Sarah said sarcastically.

Elliot didn't really know what to say he knew that Sarah wouldn't exactly want to speak to him about anything after all he wasn't exactly Sarah's favourite person in the world right now.

Elliot noticed that Sarah was looking at Jessica and he could tell that her anger and upset was obviously caused by Jessica which meant that he was also to blame. He could tell by the way that Sarah was looking at Jessica that Sarah was very hurt and obviously felt betrayed by her own sister. But Elliot couldn't help but blame himself after all he was the cause behind Sarah and Jessica falling out.

"So what is your name?" Brandon asked Jessica.

"Jessica," Jessica smiled.

"Pretty name for a pretty girl," Brandon replied.

Jessica blushed, "I am really not," she replied to Brandon's comment.

"Well I think I'll be the judge of that and I would say that you were very pretty indeed," Brandon said. He was very confident and fancied himself as a bit of a ladies' man and usually was very persuasive at convening girls to date him. This was very similar to his older brother Rob.

Elliot felt jealous watching this Brandon boy flirt with Jessica. It was the same jealousy he felt when he seen Sarah with Ethan. He knew that he couldn't have it both ways he couldn't be with both girls but would he not always be jealous to watch either of them with another boy.

Jessica had knocked Brandon back as she had quickly ended the conversation, obviously she wasn't really in a position to be flirting with other boys because of her current circumstance and she especially couldn't do it while Sarah and Jessica were sitting watching.
