Hi everyone, really sorry for the long delay of getting this chapter up, I have been extremely busy this last few months. Here is the next chapter and thank you to everyone who has been reading it so far and I will hopefully not as long a wait for the next chapter :)
Chapter 45
It was getting late and everyone was heading back to their rooms for some sleep before the BBQ tomorrow.
"What's up with you?" Lorraine asked Sarah as they walked into their room, "your very quiet!"
"It's just I can't understand why Jake is being so nice to Jessica. Like he is my best friend and how could he do that to me after everything that Jessica has done to me," Sarah said to Lorraine. She needs someone to speak to and she knew Lorraine would give the best advice.
"But Jessica is his sister too," Lorraine stated. Lorraine knew that even though she didn't agree with what Jessica had done, she knew that Jessica was only young and she would learn from her mistakes. She would never desert Jessica and would be there for her if she needed her.
"Yeah but out of everyone in this family he is the one who is like being there for Jessica. Jessica left this evening to go to her room and Jake chased after her I went to the toilet and I seen him hugging her before he managed to convince her to come back. No one even cared that Jessica was leaving apart from Jake!" Sarah wouldn't have minded so much if it was Henry or Mark who was being there for Jessica but Sarah felt like Jake was betraying her by getting so close to Jessica. She couldn't even remember the last time she seen Jake hug Jessica apart from today.
"Maybe that's it then Sarah. No one else was bothered she left so Jake is too nice and he won't want Jessica to feel like she is alone so that is why he is there for her, he is her big brother so he won't want to see her upset," Lorraine explained. Sarah knew that Lorraine was right, Jake was one of the nicest people she knew and he wouldn't want to see Jessica upset even after everything she did. Even though Sarah was ten months older than Jake he still acted like her older brother and always looked out for Sarah so Sarah realised that he must do the same for his other sisters and well his brothers too.
"It just feels like she is taking everything from me. First my boyfriend and now Jake, everyone knows me and Jake are so close like the way she is with Kim!" Sarah couldn't help but feel like Jessica was almost trying to be like her and she was stealing everything that Sarah had from her.
"I'm sure it's not like that Sarah. Jake is the one who was there for Jessica, she didn't plot to take Jake away from you," Lorraine thought Sarah was looking into things too much.
"Well I just wish she hadn't ever got with Elliot and everything would be fine right now!" Sarah said as she began to get angry.
"Sarah just admit it you still love Elliot! Otherwise you would not be this upset and angry over the whole situation. If you were truly over Elliot then maybe you would support him and Jessica you would relaise they were happy and be happy for them. But you still love Elliot and you know that he still loves you too!" Lorraine had to say that she knew Sarah wouldn't want to talk about her feelings for Elliot but Lorraine knew that Sarah still loved him.
"Yeah but he loves Jessica too!" Sarah snapped. Sarah never denied that she loved Elliot so Lorraine knew that was about as much as a confession she would get from Sarah.
"I can tell by the way he looks at her, he looks at her the same way he use to look at me," Sarah said.
"He still looks at you that same way too," Lorraine said correcting Sarah saying he use to.
"Yeah well does things have to be so messed up! And there are other people in the equation too like Ryan who is also in love with Jessica and I think she loves him and Elliot. And then there is Ethan, I know things havn't been serious between us but I really like him and I know he would never hurt me the way that Elliot has. I mean first Sophie and now Jessica. I just know there will be somebody else after that if we got back together!" Sarah knew that things were way to complicated.
"I thought me and Nora had problems but not half as bad as this!" Lorraine commented trying to make light of the situation.
"Why does it all have to be so messed up Lorraine?" Sarah asked.
"I don't know Sarah but you just have to deal with it and everything will work out!" Lorraine said trying to be positive.
"How though? People are going to get hurt. People are already getting hurt!" Sarah said correcting herself, "I can't even look at Jessica without feeling anger. I just never felt the to urge to want to hit somebody so much in my life and I already did get into a physical fight with her but I still feel cold when I see her I feel hurt and betrayed," Sarah said explain how angry Jessica made her. She knew she shouldn't feel that way but she couldn't help the way she felt. Would she ever be able to forgive and forget? Wouldn't she be a hypocrite to forgive Elliot but not Jessica?
"Sarah you know yourself that deep down you love Jessica!" Lorraine stated that she can't let herself think that she hates Jessica when even Lorraine knew that that could not be true because after all they did have a strong bond they were family, "You know the saying bloods thicker than water!"
"Exactly though and that is the exact reason why Jessica should never have done what she did!" Sarah replied, she knew Lorraine was meaning that Sarah should try and forget and forgive Jessica.
"It's getting really late I think we should get to bed!" Lorraine suggested. She had finally got Sarah to admit she loved Elliot she thought that was enough for one night before she tried to sort out the rest of the situation.
Morning soon came and Mark got up and went to feed Buttons. But then he noticed that Buttons cage was open and Buttons was not in his cage.
"Henry!" Mark shouted, "Henry get up!"
"What?" Henry asked as he woke up.
"Buttons, his cage was left open I need to find him," Mark said as her looked under the bed for him.
Henry slowly got up and thought he better look for the frog.
"Erm Mark did you open our door," Henry said as he noticed the door into their room was open.
"No I never," Mark replied.
"Well it's slightly open," Henry said as he noticed that the door must have been about ten centimetres open.
"What do you mean the doors open?" Mark said as he couldn't understand how it could be open.
"Your shoe it there and it has stopped the door from shutting!" Henry said as he walked over to the door and noticed that Mark's shoe had stopped the door from properly shutting, "We must have been so tired when we went to bed last night that we never noticed that it was open".
"NO!" Mark cried, "He could be anywhere then!"
"Mark calm down we'll never find him if you get all worked up!" Henry said as he tried to keep Mark calm.
"Anything could have happened to him, he could have been stood on, the staff might have found him and got him killed he might have got outside and be anywhere by now!" Mark said as he realised the chances of finding Buttons were slim.
"Well we're not going to find him in standing about in here," Henry said as he put his shoes on and got ready to go look for him.
"Yeah your right," Mark said as he followed him out the room.
"Right you look on this floor and I'll look on the top floor and then if we can't find him we'll work our way down," Henry instructed.
The two boys looked for an hour and they had looked on all the floor, looked the restaurant, the reception area, the bar and the pool and gym area. They had looked outside in the lake but still not sign of buttons anywhere.
"Look Mark dad told us all to be downstairs for breakfast we're going to have to go or else we'll get in trouble for not being there and then mom and dad will know that something is wrong," Henry said as he realised that they would raise suspicion by missing breakfast.
Mark looked devastated to have lost Buttons, Henry hadn't seen him this upset since Beans had died. Mark and Henry arrived downstairs for breakfast where Kate, Tom, Nora, Bud, Lorraine, Sarah, Jake, Mike, Nigel and Kyle were waiting for them and Jessica and Kim who still were not there.
"Mark smile you look miserable!" Lorraine said to Mark as he sat down.
"He's just tired," Henry said before Mark got more upset.
Eventually Jessica and Kim arrived for breakfast and also Charlie and Ann sat with the Bakers this morning since last night they sat with the Murtaugh's, which pleased Tom.
"Mark are you sure your ok?" Mike asked his brother.
Henry whispered to Jake and Mike to explain the situation so hopefully after breakfast they could help the search for Buttons.
"Kyle did you see that?" Nigel asked him.
"No what?" Kyle replied as he didn't know what his brother was talking about.
"I'm sure I just seen a frog jump out of that bowl of lettuce on that people's table, But I must be seeing things," Nigel said as he looked again and couldn't see anything.
"Did you just say you seen a frog?" Mark said trying to keep his voice down before Kate and Tom or anybody else heard.
"Yeah in that salad bowl," Nigel said as he pointed to it.
"Who has salad for breakfast!" Jake said as he looked over.
"Oh I think I see him," Henry said as he stood up o get a better look.
"Crap how are we going to get him back," Mike said as he realised that this would be difficult.
Mark was so relieved to know that Buttons was still alive, he had already prepared himself for the worse that something terrible had happened to him.
"I'm so happy Buttons is alive," Mark said.
"So that's buttons! I knew I seen a frog," Nigel said a bit too loud that Tom heard.
"You seen a frog?" Tom asked.
"Yeah me and Nigel seen a frog in the pond outside," Kyle said to stop his dad finding out the truth.
"Good one Kyle I think dad bought it," Henry whispered.
The boys sat nervously for a few minutes as they tried to come up with a plan to get Buttons back before someone ate out the salad bowl and noticed the frog.
Henry eventually came up with a plan which was that Nigel and Kyle would leave the table and pretend they were going to the toilet and then they would have a fake fight and Nigel would push Kyle towards that table where he would knock down the salad and then Mark would run to try and catch the frog before it ran off.
"Right go now!" Jake said to Kyle and Nigel.
Kyle and Nigel began to muck about and pretend they were fighting and then Nigel pushed Kyle into he table who then fell on top of the table and then with his hand pushed the salad bowl off the table.
Mark then dived off his chair and tried to catch Buttons but he missed him. Then Henry, Jake and Mike all tried to catch him but al missed so the four of them were chasing Buttons.
"Oh my gosh it's a frog!" A guest at the hotel shouted before everyone ran away screaming.
"You have got to be kidding me!" Tom said as he put two and two together and realised that the frog must be Buttons.
Tom then tried to help the boys before Mark had eventually managed to catch Buttons.
"Oh I am so glad you are alright I thought I lost you," Mark said happily as he was reunited with his frog.
They had left a trail of destruction behind them though trying to catch Buttons. Chair were knocked down, and food had gone flying off the tables and all over the floor and some other guests who had not run away when the frog appeared also had food and drink spilt on their clothes from the chaos that was caused trying to catch Buttons.
"Mark Baker you are in big trouble boy!" Tom said as he raised his voice.
Jimmy came over to see what had happened, "Tom I tell you this all the time but you need to be stricter with that kids of yours. You can't go anywhere without them causing chaos!"
"Jimmy I think you should have a look at your own kids before you judge mine. Your Elliot isn't exactly a saint himself, getting into fights at basketball games, falling for two of my daughters and lying about it and then leading to my daughters falling out!" Tom said as he did not think that Jimmy was in a position to judge him.
Tom could tell by Jimmy's face that he was not quite aware of the whole situation that was going on with Elliot and Sarah and Jessica.
Tom was trying his best to apologise to the hotel manager so that they did not get thrown out the hotel. When Jimmy negotiated a deal and agreed to pay for any expenses that were accrued.
"Thanks Jimmy but I could have paid that myself," Tom said as he felt that Jimmy was always there to show off his cash and it made Jimmy feel that he had one up on Tom.
"Tom that would have been like a week's wages for you but honestly I don't need all that money I won't even notice it's gone, I make about that much in an hour!" Jimmy said as he boasted about his wealth.
Tom and Kate had called Mark, Henry, Jake, Mike, Nigel and Kyle to their room.
"What did I tell you guys about behaving and not embarrassing me in front of my players and other members of staff! We can't take you anywhere!" Tom said with frustrating.
"Mark why did you take Buttons with you, you know that there would be a no pets rule?" Kate asked Mark but he didn't answer because he knew himself it was a stupid idea.
"Now Jimmy has negotiated that you six will clean up down stairs and he has also had to pay for any damages caused and he has also paid a fee so that Buttons can stay in the hotel tonight! Mark you better apologise and thank Jimmy," Tom explained.
"And I will probably have to too," Tom said to Kate as Tom had insulted Jimmy's parenting because of the Elliot situation but now Jimmy had helped him out by paying for all the troubles that Mark had caused.
