"General." Poe walked towards Leia, Finn and Chewie walking behind him. "General, we had a few problems. We weren't able to retrieve the Wayfinder and Rey-"
"I know." She sighed, looking into the dense forest.
"She took Han with her, do you know where she might've gone?" Finn asked, standing in front of Leia.
"No," she replied not meeting his eyes. Suddenly, a voice sounded in her head. "Don't worry Leia, I will talk to her." "Luke." She sighed under her breath, when she looked up she noticed the three of them were gone. A small part of her was happy to hear her brother's voice, but the rest of her had given up. Without the Wayfinder how would they find Exegol.
The Empire had won and her son- she didn't know what had become of him. She tried to find him with the force, but the effort ate away at her energy and she gave up. To talk to her son now would take all the strength she had left. Instead she sent a message to the one she loved, the one she missed. Maybe he could talk to their son.
Kylo looked out at the dark waves, all alone. He could feel his mother trying to reach out to him, but he blocked her out. How could he face her, after everything he'd done? "Hey kid." A voice he thought he'd never hear again came from behind him. He turned around. "I miss you son."
"Your son is dead." His voice came out uneven even and tears formed behind Kylo's eye at the sight of his father, but he refused to left them be seen.
"No," Han replied confidentially and began trudging towards him. "Kylo Ren is dead. My son is alive."
Kylo shivered, from the cold, from the fear, from the confusion and from the guilt that seemed to grow in his chest. "You're just a memory."
"Your memory." There was silence. "Come home." Han spoke softly.
"It's too late. I had my chance to go home but now there's no one left..." He couldn't finish his sentence.
"Ben, there are still people who will fight for you. Leia, Rey... Han." The deceased pilot smirked at the name of Ben's son. "Ben."
"I know what I have to do but I don't know if I have the strength to do it." He replied, his voice still shaking. Han's hand rested on his son's cheek.
"You do."
Ben clutched his lightsaber. "D-dad." Tears feel down his cheeks and he had to take a few breaths to stop himself from breaking down completely.
"I know." His father responded and Ben's hand threw the lightsaber. It soared over the water before disappearing into its depths. When Ben turned around, his father was gone.
Rey hardly noticed Han watching from one of the village's huts. She threw wood onto the burning form of Kylo Ren's TIE. He yelled in frustration before her hand rested on Luke's lightsaber. She looked at it then threw it into the flames.
Then a hand reached out and caught it. Her eyes widened at the glowing form of the former Jedi Master, he former teacher. The galaxy's saviour. "A Jedi's weapon deserves more respect."
"Master Skywalker." Rey gasped.
"What are you doing?" Luke led Rey to a large rock which she sat down on.
"I saw myself on the dark throne," Rey began. "I won't let it happen. I'm never leaving this place, I'm doing what you did."
Luke smiled. "I was wrong. it was fear that kept me here. What are you afraid of?"
She paused before answering. "Myself."
"Because you're a Palpatine?" Rey looked back up at him in surprise. "Leia knew it to."
"She didn't tell me." Luke quietly sat beside her, his cape blowing slightly in the wind. "She still trained me?"
"Because she saw your spirit, your heart." Rey looked down when she felt Han hand on her leg. He'd crawled down towards them and was now holding his hands out for his mother. "Somethings are strong then blood." Luke smiled at Han, who was staring back at him. Rey wasn't surprised to see that Han could also see the ghost of the former Jedi.
"I don't want Han to get hurt, I don't wanna face Palpatine I- I'm afraid." Rey put her hand through her son's soft black hair.
"Confronting fear is the destiny of a Jedi, your destiny. If you don't face Palpatine, it will mean the end of the Jedi and the war will be lost." She didn't reply. Luke stood up and Han reached his hands towards the Jedi. "There's something my sister would want you to have." He led them to a small hut and pointed towards a stone. Rey placed down Han who stood on his feet. When he wobbled Luke bent down and held his hand for balance.
Behind the stone was a lightsaber. "Leia's saber!" She gasped.
"It was the last night of her training." Luke said and Rey could picture a young Leia training with her brother, using the very saber that now laid in her hands. "Leia told me that she had sensed the death of her son at the end of her Jedi path. She surrendered her saber to me and said that, one day it would be picked up again, by someone who would finish her journey."
Rey's hand traced the handle of the lightsaber, Luke's lightsaber had been reattached to her belt. "A thousand generations live in you now, but this is your fight. You'll take both sabers to Exegol."
She stood up facing Luke. "I can't get there. I don't have the Wayfinder, I destroyed Ren's ship."
"You have everything you need." He replied in a wise tone. Rey looked confused but then she noticed Han was gone. "Where's Han?" She said panicked and ran outside. "Han!" She called out before spotting his small figure waddling towards the remains of Ren's TIE.
The fire had almost stopped, but the ship was boiling hot. "Han!" She ran as fast as she could when he tried to climb inside. She picked him up. "Don't run off."
He made an annoyed noise and pointed to a small hatch in the ship. He seemed desperate to get to it and eventually Rey's curiosity got the better of her. She flipped open the hatch. Inside was a Wayfinder. "Two were made- Han you're a genius!" She hugged him tightly and picked up the Wayfinder.
Now there was only one thing missing, transport. There was a rumbling, the whole island seemed to be shaking and the sound of water filled the air. Luke stood by a cliff edge, his hand extended as something began to rise from the water.
Luke's old X-wing hovered above them and Rey glanced up at the ghost who flashed her a proud smirk. "Go, take Han with you."
"Exegol is no place for a child."
"Trust me, you will need him as much as he needs you." Rey hesitated, looking at Han before nodding slightly.
"Yes Master Skywalker."
