Olitz One Shot: Something Special

A/N: This is my first one shot. I have always admired those authors that could put a story together in "one shot". I would like to thank Nimah from our Scandal Facebook page for inspiring me to write this. I know it's not exactly what she asked for, but I hope it does justice. Happy reading everyone, and please tell me what you think. If I need to stop writing one shots, I will accept that criticism also. Love to all and thank you.

Fitz looked longingly at the pin Olivia gifted him so long ago on the night before his first Inauguration. Even though their relationship ended last night, with what seemed like for good this time, he would never stop wearing that pin. It was like his love for her, that would never stop either. He would never be over her. This pin, with just 48 stars was the piece of her he would always have with him. He deliberately places it as close to his heart as he possibly can. He owns the pin, but Olivia would always own his heart.

Abby snapped two pictures of Fitz preparing himself for the cameras. She was called in on Christmas Day, something she wasn't happy about, to set up a press briefing for Fitz. He wanted to wish the American People that celebrated the holiday a joyous one with whomever they got to share it with. When Abby entered the Residence to let him know they were ready, she saw him staring at the pin Liv had given to him. She didn't know when or the circumstances, she just knew it was a gift from Liv, Olivia showed it to her a few days before his first Inauguration. The way he stared at the pin right now, in this moment, told the whole story. Abby could feel it. He would never stop loving her, no matter if Liv was in his presence or not. Olivia owned his heart. So, Abby, with her cell phone in hand, snapped the picture of him staring at the pin, wondering what his thoughts were at that moment. She cleared her throat, breaking through his daydream, and he nodded and placed the pin on his lapel. What Abby did notice was he did it with such affection and gentleness, as if it would break. He treated it like it was a fragile piece of China. Abby would send Olivia the pictures in due time. She has a right to know that man would never stop loving her. "Sir, the press is ready for you."

When the press conference was over, Fitz sent his staff home for the holiday. He had no intention of spending the day with anyone, and he didn't want to bring anyone down with him. Just the agents assigned to his detail were there with him. To be honest, he wished he could send them home as well. He continued his thoughts from earlier when Abby had interrupted them. He was alone, and the last thing he wanted to do was think about their fight last night. He wanted the good times with Olivia, the times when they had only each other. The time like the night before the Inauguration.

Olivia arrived at the District Hotel well in advance of schedule. He knew this because the Front Desk had called to him to verify giving Olivia a room key. She told the Front Desk she had to leave some things for tomorrow's events in the room. Fitz, of course said it was fine. He now knew, she would be there waiting for him and he couldn't wait a minute longer. He was flying in from Santa Barbara and Mellie and the kids would arrive early tomorrow afternoon. This was going be Fitz's last time with Olivia before moving into the White House. Fitz wanted every part of her tonight before he stepped in front of the world and belonged to America.

As soon as Fitz entered the room, he could smell her scent. That hint of coconut in the air. It came from the lotion she used on her body and it did wonders to him inside. He immediately felt the tightness in his pants. As he moved further into the room, Olivia was sitting up in the bed. She had on a lace Teddy and nothing else. "Welcome to Washington DC President Elect." Fitz let his bag go and quickly undressed, leaving on just his boxers. He needed to taste her, all over. He needed her lips on his, his lips on her breasts, and to just go down and let her melt in his mouth as he worked his superpowers on her.

There were no words needed to be spoken as he approached the bed, erection in tow, and glided his fingers softly under the lace. She lifted her hips to meet the force of his fingers and pulled him down to her lips, as their tongues did all the talking for them. A deep moan came from the back of her throat and Fitz took his lips down her neck and removed the teddy, exposing her breasts for him to devour. "God, Livvie, how I have missed you." His mouth went over her left breast as she ran her fingers through his gorgeous curls and reached down to take off his boxers and wrap her hand around his erection. The feeling that ran through Fitz was of pure ecstasy. He worked his way further down, making her lose her grip of what was in her hand. He grasped her hips and pulled her to his mouth. Liv's body rose in the air as his tongue did things to her down there. She tried to hold on, but it was useless. She grabbed hold of his hair with one hand and the other made scratch marks on his shoulder as her orgasm hit her hard. "Fiiiiitz, mmmmmm" and her body shook. He didn't stop until she calmed down.

He then met her eyes. "Taste yourself, Livvie." He distracted her with a kiss as he slid right into her. She took all of him. He felt himself deep within her and his powerful thrusts had him moaning this time. "I will only love you Livvie, you are the love of my life.", Fitz said this with heavy breath and felt his climax start slowly. "Take all of me Livvie." Olivia guided him back down to her lips and in the moment shifted to be on top. She thrusted forward and back until Fitz held her in place and together, they climaxed. She fell, head to his shoulder, and he could feel her heart pound as she came down from her second orgasm.

They finally spoke about the events tomorrow and the start of Liv's new job in the White House. He continued to make plans for them to be together, but Liv just wanted to take it day by day. "Once you become President we have to stop, Fitz. We cannot keep doing this." For the remainder of the night, they continued their love making taking a break for room service, some small talk, and just laying quietly in each other's arms. As Olivia was drifting off to sleep in his arms, he said "I love you Livvie." And he hoped she dreamed of only him.

Fitz had finished dressing in his suit. He was going to meet Mellie at the White House. Liv stopped him and said she had something for him. He looked down as she reached for his lapel. "I bought this for you at auction. It's rare, only 48 stars on it, and it belonged to Eisenhower." Fitz looked down at the pin and then held Liv's shoulders. "You didn't have to."

"I know, I wanted you to have something special on your Day."

He leaned in to kiss her, "you are my something special."

She stopped him. She knew if she kissed him there would be no stopping another round, and he was dressed and had to go. "I will see you there Fitz." He left proudly looking at the pin.

The moment Abby had interrupted his thoughts, that is what he was thinking of. How he longed to be in that hotel room again. So much had changed, and nothing could be undone. Olivia left his ring, but her pin he would never give up. He would put that pin on every day in anticipation that each time he is on camera or in pictures, Olivia will see that he is faithful in wearing it. She will feel his love for her and one day they would be together. He knows that she will never fall out of love with him, they were meant to be, and he will wait for her.

Olivia's phone buzzed that Christmas afternoon with a text from Abby. Liv, you don't have to spend today alone, come over if you want, I have wine.

I am fine Abby, really, I could use the quiet, you could too, enjoy your day.

Fine, but I wanted you to see these. That's the pin you gave him that he is looking at and putting on. I hope you know Fitzgerald Grant will never be over you.

Olivia saw the pictures as they came through, and she felt a knot in her stomach. She remembered the time Fitz looked at her in the way he was looking at that pin. Now, she thought if she looked in his eyes, she would only see pain and sadness.

They had tried. She let him move her in to the White House, but the chains around her were too much to bear. She still loved him, God how she still loved him, but she couldn't be confined. She understood how alone he felt all the times he told her. He told her what that place did to him, and she found out the hard way. Now, on Christmas Day, she would have to ignore the pain in her heart and continue with her life.

She didn't want to give the ring back, but it was too painful to wear. He wanted her to wear that to know that she was happy. Well, she wasn't happy, not anymore. She would never be happy until he could be in her life. He had to know that was the reason she gave back the ring.

She turned on the TV hoping to catch "It's a Wonderful Life", instead every network was breaking in for a message from The President. She was just about to turn off the TV, why do this to herself, but there he was, in a pinstripe suit, and the shiny pin. She looked down at the phone and the pictures Abby had sent. She imagined him putting the pin on and what he was thinking about in the moments before he pinned it on. She had no doubt he was thinking about the night before she gave that pin to him. What she wouldn't do to be in his arms again, to feel him inside of her, and to hear him tell her he loves her.

She thought back to the time she found the pin full of blood on the hospital floor after Fitz was shot. She didn't know if he would live or die but holding the pin in her hand gave her hope that he would one day wear it again. That night standing in the hospital she thought back too. She thought back to when they saw the Constitution and she told him she loved him. Those words would forever be the truth, she would never fall out of love with Fitzgerald Grant.

For the final time, she looked down at the picture again. Mellie had given the pin back to her after Fitz thought he lost it at the Archives. Mellie placed it in Liv's hands justifying she knew about the affair. Honestly, it was a weight off Liv's shoulders, and she was happy Mellie found out the way she did. The only reason she responded with tears in her eyes was the happiness that she found the pin. She didn't want to return it to Fitz the way she did, by resigning, but it was best for both of them at the time.

Liv turned her phone off. She didn't want any more messages, she didn't want to look at the pictures, she just wanted to watch the glimmering lights of the Christmas Tree. She wanted to begin her new life and leave Fitzgerald Grant in the back of her heart.

ONE YEAR LATER

Fitz was entering his final term as President. He had accomplished so much in the past year and his only regret was not having Olivia by his side. He though of her every day. He longed to call her, to hear her voice. He missed every piece of her he once had. The times he did see her it was brief, and rarely any talking.

Fitz felt if she looked in his eyes, it would be her undoing, so he continued to wait. When the time came, he would call her, and he would get her back in his life. He was determined to do that. He wanted her by his side, the same way he began his presidency, he wanted to end it, with Liv as his lover.

At the Capitol now meeting with Senator Thompson, Fitz was finishing up some final tweaks in a bill he needed passed his last year in office. Senator Thompson was the creator of the bill, so the meeting was with him. On Fitz's way out, walking up the hallway towards him was Olivia. She hadn't noticed him yet, and he used that moment to take in how beautiful her body still was, as he eyed her up and down.

The moment she saw him, he noticed a freeze in her step, and that made his heart jump. There was no avoiding one another, and they stopped to talk.

"Hi", Fitz said first.

"Hi", Liv said, and looked at his lapel. Her heart sank a bit as she noticed he wasn't wearing the pin.

"You look good, Liv, really good. I miss you."

Liv felt tears fill her eyes. She looked directly into his eyes and for that moment, it was just them in the hallway. "I miss you too, Fitz."

"Liv come to dinner tonight at the Residence. We can just talk. I would love to have the company."

"It's a date Fitz. I will see you 7? Is that a good time?"

"Perfect, and I will have the chef prepare some popcorn for dessert." He smiled as he rubbed her shoulder and walked quickly away.

Liv was meeting with Senator Thompson also. His daughter was involved in a party with heavy drinking that resulted in a fellow classmate getting injured. He hired her to fix this. When Liv entered his office, she noticed him staring down at the floor. He was just about to bend to pick something up, but Liv did it for him. She looked at Fitz's flag pin.

"That must belong to President Grant. He just left my office. It must have fallen off his jacket. I will give his secretary a call to let him know."

"No," Liv stopped him. "I have to stop by the White House later to pick up a few things from the Press Secretary, I will be more than happy to make sure he gets it back."

Senator Thompson nodded and they proceeded on with the meeting.

As the elevator to the Residence opened, Liv was hit with so many memories. They were both happy and sad memories, but she was eager to make the best of this night and get her man back.

Fitz approached the elevator and reached out his hand for Liv to take. She did and they walked to the table, as they did so many times before. This time, it was different. They both wanted each other, missed each other, and would soon let each other know.

As they began talking, it was hard to stop. They spoke about their lives, being apart, and most of all how much they still loved one another.

"Fitz, every time I saw you on TV or in pictures, you had your pin on. That really meant something to me. I liked how you kept it close to your heart. I felt you were holding me there each time I saw it."

"Liv, I always thought of you, every morning I put that pin on, you were the first thought. Today, I must have lost the pin at the Capitol. I noticed it gone when I was changing before."

Liv reached in her Prada bag and took out the shiny object. "It fell in Senator Thompson's office, with whom I met with after you."

Fitz took the pin and looked down at it. It was a replica of the picture that Liv kept as a screen saver on her phone. He then pinned it to his lapel, again a déjà vu of the picture Abby had sent her. He looked down at Liv. He cupped her cheeks and pulled her close into a soft, passionate kiss.

As they pulled away, Liv looked down, and he lifted her face back up by her chin. She looked at the pin and straightened it out a bit. He looked down at the pin, and then at her. "I have my something special back, don't I?"

"Yes, you do Mr. President." Liv said as she was lifted off her feet and they entered the bedroom kissing and to duplicate the night before his first Inauguration so many years ago.
