Anyways on with the chapter!
In the Dark Zone...
Raimon's POV-
I couldn't believe it, those girls had yet again managed to defeat a shadow beast! I was beginning to see a pattern at this point... unfortunately I failed so this meant that Raible would be the one to handle the situation with the Magic Knights.
Thankfully it was Raible who was handling the situation and not... him. We may use our magic to its darkest extent but no one was as powerful as him... except for Lord Phantom.
That was besides the point however, before Raible headed out I was going to give him some advice and inform him of the pattern I was beginning to see.
"Raible, a word before you go." I say with a serious tone to my voice as I make it to the entrance to the Shadow Beast cages.
"I have some time, what do you require Raimon?" Raible says with a calm tone. If Raible was one thing, it was patient, that would do him good when going against the Magic Knights.
"I have noticed a pattern during the Shadow Beasts battles against the Magic Knights that may prove of value."
Raible nods "What is the pattern my friend?"
It was now that things may change to be in our favor against the Magic Knights "I have noticed that each time the Magic Knights have succeeded there has only been one Shadow Beast attacking them. However if more than 1, 2 or 3 of them at least were to be sent..."
He nods his head, understanding what I am saying " I can see your reasoning and will talk it over with Lord Phantom, but for now I will have to send another Level 2 Shadow Beast."
"Very well, just make sure you are the one to defeat those three. His suspension from active duty will only last 2 more months we do not want them to be defeated by his hands."
We both stop for a moment and shudder, we may be cruel but we know how to give a merciful end to our enemies, him on the other hand... He was put on suspended status for a reason.
" I must ask however, which Shadow Beast will you send after them?" I ask with a curious tone.
"I believe that Shadow Golem will do the trick."
I couldn't help but smirk a little bit, Shadow Golem only had one weak spot so that gave it an advantage, not to mention they'd be close to the Woods of Illusions.
" I must ask though, what are you going to do now that you're no longer the one hunting the Magic Knights?" He asks with a curious tone.
"I have been given the duty of getting the location of the Escudo ore from Mage Master Clef."
Raible nods his head in understanding "That is important, we must get the location of that ore.
I wish him luck and we both go our ways, one way or another the battle would be won and Lord Phantom's reign would be supreme.
It was only a matter of time
Star's POV-
Once we woke up we checked to make sure my leg had healed, which it had, ate some of the food that was in the supplies we had and made our way to the Woods of Illusion.
"Hey Star? Aqua? What do you think will happen when we go into the Woods of Illusions?"
I turn my head to Sky after she asks me that question. To be honest I didn't know, now that I thought about it I don't think we even asked!
Aqua and I look at each other in concern and I am the one to answer.
"I'm not sure Sky, we'll have to figure it out as we go."
Aqua nods her head in agreement
"We should've asked about that before we left Granite Village, but there's nothing we can do about that now." Aqua says with annoyance in her voice, mentally kicking herself for making such an obvious mistake, I was doing the same thing.
"There isn't much we can do though, we don't want to waste more supplies and if we end up running into another monster we'll be too exhausted to do anything."
"So we go into the woods?" Asks Sky.
"Yeah, we do."
"Okay, because we're at the entrance to the woods now."
We stop when she says that and see a hundreds of trees ahead of us, with a veil of fog covering them. It looked more like a forest than woods to be honest.
At the left we see a sign that reads: NOW ENTERING THE WOODS OF ILLUSIONS, BEWARE ANY DANGEROUS CREATURES AND THE ILLUSIONS IN THE DEEPER PARTS OF THE FOREST!
Sky and I look at the collection of fog veiled trees and gulp, we now knew why. they were called the Woods of Illusions.
Aqua however, looked a little less worried.
"Okay, that's not to bad, I have training in seeing through spells like that.
"You do?" I ask in surprise.
She nods her head in confirmation "Yes, Lagia may have strict rules, but all members of the royal family of Lagia are taught how to handle certain situations such Illusion Magic or how to give medical treatment."
I nod my head, that was good to know, even if Sky had her healing magic it would be good to have someone who knows how to give some form of medical help.
"But what if Illusions are some sort of creature that take the form of the thing you fear most?" Sky asks with worry.
"You mean like the boggarts from the Harry Potter series?" I ask with confusion.
She nods her head.
"I wouldn't worry about that, the sign makes it sound like the woods themselves are what cause them." I say with some optimism "So Aqua, and advice on how to handle illusion magic?"
"Yes, while it is complex, the best thing you can do in a situation such as this is-!"
Before she could finish her sentence we are suddenly jumped by another monster! This monster looked like a person made of rocks and stones with glowing dark purple eyes.
"You have got to be kidding me!" I yell in annoyance as Aqua and I draw our swords and Sky draws her bow.
"How do these creatures keep finding us?" Asks Aqua in frustration.
" I don't know, but it looks like we have another fight on our hands." I answer with my hands firmly grasping my blade in preparation for an attack.
"I recognize that creature! It's a golem, we have to be careful. They only have one weak spot on them and it's usually in a random spot." Aqua informs us, keeping her eyes locked on the golem.
The golem then charges at us. We manage to dodge and start looking for a weak point.
"Fire Arrow!" I yell as I hit the golem with my attack knocking it away from us and causing it to land on its back I notice that it cried out in pain when it landed on its back.
"Sky! Aqua! I think the weak spot is on it's back!" I yell to my teammates and friends.
That was all we had to go on however since that gave us a problem, how were we going to get behind it?
"Star, Aqua, I'll distract it and you two attack it from behind alright?" She says quietly.
"What?" Sky and I whisper in shock if that thing managed to hit her it would probably break most the bones in her body!
"Sky you have a bow and arrows and Star, you have an attack that will do the most damage, my Water Dragon attack won't be any good against it. So I'll distract it" She says with a serious tone in her voice.
As much as I hated to admit it, she had to admit she had a point about that. Not to mention it was our only plan right now since I couldn't think of one myself.
"Alright." I reluctantly agreed "But after this we try to stick together in combat alright?" I ask her
"Deal." Aqua says, nodding her head in agreement.
With that the plan went into action. Aqua distracted the monster by casting her Water Dragon attack which didn't knock it back like my Fire Arrow attack did, but did stop from moving forward.
While it was distracted Sky and I managed to get behind it without it either noticing or being able to turn around and sure enough there was a soft looking spot in the rocks and stone where the spine would be on a person.
Now seeing the weak-spot Sky fired an arrow from her bow and I used my Fire Arrow attack to hit the spot.
Both attacks hit the spot and the golem cried out in pain once again. However, the creature wasn't destroyed yet.
What made it worst was that Aqua had collapsed from using her Water Dragon attack so many times.
The golem then turned it's attention towards Sky and myself.
"This isn't good." I say with a wince as was starting to look like we needed a new plan.
The golem then began to charge at the two of us.
I was seriously beginning to wish that there were more than three of us here.
Just as it was about to smash us with its stone fists it suddenly cried out as something hit it from behind.
It was Aqua's spear.
Aqua's POV-
This wasn't good.
I was exhausted, I had used my Water Dragon repeatedly and was facing exhaustion as a result.
What made it worst was that while Star and Sky had both managed to hit the weak point, it hadn't destroyed the golem.
The golem then turned to them and ran towards the two of them.
I may have been exhausted, but I wasn't done just yet. I needed to do something but what?
"My spear!" I quickly realize, I couldn't believe I had forgotten about it!
I quickly grab my spear and with focus and strength I throw it at the weak-spot on the golem.
I was worried however I may have been good with close ranged combat, but hitting an opponent with arrows or spears was one of my weak-points in my training.
I could only hope it would hit.
It seemed that luck was on my side as my spear had managed to hit the weak spot. This caused the golem to disappear in purple smoke as it was destroyed.
With that I lay down and try to catch my breath.
Sky's POV-
"Aqua! Are you alright!?" Star yells as she runs over to make sure she was alright.
I pick up her spear from where it had fallen after the golem had been destroyed and carry it over with me to where Aqua was.
"Yeah, I'm fine just exhausted. I'll be find after some rest." She informs us.
"That's a relief." I say as I giver her the spear.
We rest for about 45 minutes to eat some lunch since it was now looking to be around that time.
"Say Aqua, you never told us how to handle illusion magic." Star says after we finish eating.
"Oh." She says as she realizes the same thing. "Well the best way to handle illusion magic is to remind yourself that it isn't real. Though there is a more complex way to explain it."
We both nod our heads in understanding.
"So don't think about what is their. Got it." Says Star.
"So, you two ready to go into the Forest?" Asks Aqua once we finished packing everything.
Star and I look at each other and then back at Aqua and nod.
"Yeah, we're ready." I say.
With that we begin to enter the Forest of Illusions to get to Mana City.
