Later on, everyone was sitting at the kitchen table. Dinner was a special time and this one was a rare occasion because not only did the other band mates came home early from their jobs, but Jacob, who was feeling a bit better, after having a nap, was with them and everyone was glad to see him again. Jacob, however had his own project in the works, as he sat down on the table next to Shamus who was sitting next to Alphonce, who was sitting between him and Kim. Alphonce moves close to her. She didn't noticed. Everyone noticed that Cyborg was a bit different, true her appearance was the same, just without the bullet holes, and she didn't seem so stiff or lifeless as Murdoc had once made her to appear, but now she was engaging more to them and acting more alive than she did before. Jacob was proud he could help her, but he was keeping his eye on Shamus. He decided to make his move in front of everyone to see how Shamus would react.

'So, nice to having everyone here. It's been a while. Shamus, did you know that they worked in a band together. Maybe you've heard of them, they're very famous.' Jacob starts a conversation with him.

Shamus nodded and answered, 'Yeah, Gorillaz. Might I add they're world famous, probably the greatest in the entire world, but that's just me saying it. Although it might be, clearly, very honestly, is true.'

'Right, but I'm interested on how well you know them? It's been a while since they've made a public appearance, after the event of my father's death, they haven't been seen for a while and most fans wouldn't notice how much they've changed besides their career. Russel's not a giant no more and 2D's wearing his pants up higher. Noodle came back from an intense mission from Japan and Cyborg's now a full time member of the group. A true fan would react to how big a change they each made. You don't seem to noticed it.' He implied.

'Well, what I mean is...I know the band and I didn't want to go overboard. I mean the last thing you would want is some fan screaming at you. Right?' Shamus smiled nervously.

'Well, we do kinda miff it. Although t'ings are too quiet now. Even wiffout Mu'doc's constant yelling, tings might be too quiet.' 2D confessed.

Jacob jumps in, 'I thought so too. Things were noisy even with dad, but he sometimes calms down after a few drinks. You've should have seen or rather heard how loud dad could be. Day and night he would get upset about something.'

'Yea' mainly someting I didn't even do or yew know forgot to put back,' 2D recalled.

The other band mates agreed. 'He'd always screaming over something.' Russel pointed out.

'Well I'm sure as a leader of the band he was probably stress or something. I mean he wasn't that bad.' Shamus argued, this made Jacob smile a bit.

'He often tried too many things at once. One time we were told by him to start practice and we waited for him for an hour. We found him lock in his room. He said he was finishing the song. Then he's busy planning our next public appearance or starting a new tour route, but then goes out to a pub to get drunk again.' Noodle added.

'True, that was the Murdoc we knew, ' Kim chimes in, 'But, he had change a lot and he was only less loud. I mean he mellowed out after he found Alphonce at Plastic Beach, where Paula left him.' She smiles at Alphonce who was happy to hear something nice about his dad.

Jacob added, 'Well mom you would say that now, but think back to how badly dad would act. You know well enough to how he would act towards you.'

'Oh, he was a huge pervert.' She told him bluntly. 'In fact I first thought he was just mean to me because I was so plain average and not up 'his' standards of what makes an attractive lady.'

'Well I'm sure, he was playing around. I mean may I remind you, he was your husband. It might make him cross for his spirit to hear you say that negative about him. Especially in front of his sons.' Shamus told her, sounding a bit irritated.

'But you still love him, don't you mommy?' Alphonce asked her.

Kim smiled, 'Of course sweetie. We're just talking about your daddy when he was young-ish before you were born. Even now we know he was a changed man and we often like to think of him that way.' Alphonce smiled at the response.

Shamus cleared his throat as he spoke, 'So, you will still love him if he ever does anything crazy? Maybe? What do you mean young-ish? He was what around his thirties, early? At best late twenties-ish.'

'True, but he was still a bit older than me. I was just in the middle of my college years when I started working for him. Still, maybe if he did something silly like he did in the past I might over look it, but now I think I would happy being with him again.' She answered. Shamus smiled at that answer.

'But mommy, I told you.' Alphonce reminded her.

'I know sweetie, but let's keep this quiet. Alright, so let's talk about something else.' Kim suggested.

'Great idea, Shamus you know a lot or less about us, but we never really got to know you better. Tell us about yourself.' Jacob directed his question to Shamus.

Shamus just answered, 'Oh, well there's nothing much. I've been a fishing man for a few odd years.'

Jacob asked, 'Now you're not. So you're what now?'

Shamus answered, 'I'm looking around for some old friends of mine.'

Russel joined in, 'Yeah, you've mention it before. So you found them yet?'

Shamus quickly answered, 'Well, yes I found them at the old pub. We used to go there. It was one time thing. They live very far away.'

'Old pub, so yew live 'ere before?' 2D asked next.

Shamus growled. 'Yes, I did, but that was long time ago. I mean I've moved around when I was younger.'

'Oh, so yew're moving back t'en?' He asked another.

Shamus was getting annoyed, 'Look, I'm not moving back. I'm just finding a place to stay.'

2D answered, 'So yew're moving t'en?'

Shamus got up and slammed his fist on the table, 'Not another stupid question from you Facesss...I mean.' He stops himself and carefully sit back down, 'What I mean is I'm just here to settle a few things.' He excused himself from the table. The others looked at each other, confused over what they just witness, but didn't want to bother Shamus anymore except for Jacob. Jacob got up next, 'I'm going to check on him. Be right back.' He follows Shamus who was pacing in the living room far from their view.

Shamus sighs and stamps one of his feet on the hard floor, frustrated. 'Damn it.' He thought to himself, 'How could I get reckless?! Why?!'

'Shamus,' Jacob called out to him, scaring Shamus, 'You alright?'

Shamus just smiled and said, 'Yeah, sorry about that. My day isn't getting on so well and I got a bit irritated.' He laughed nervously.

Jacob eyed him. He wasn't so sure and kept going. He asks again, 'You sure? I mean it was my idea to turn our attention to you. I just want to know you too since I've been busy working on Cyborg. I thought it was fair to get to know new people that's been living in the flat for some time.'

'Well, now you know. I'm not a mysterious thing to know. Totally plain. Nothing good here.' He said nonchalantly.

Jacob sighed, he didn't want to play anymore, 'Who the hell are you?' He asked him.

Shamus just answered, 'What? You know, I'm Shamus, smelly fisher man.'

'No, I want to know who are you? Why are you even here?' Jacob asked him again.

Shamus gulped as he backs away, but soon stops to see Kim entering the room. 'Is everything alright?' She asked. Jacob just smiled and said, 'Fine, mom, we were just talking.'

'Oh, is that so? Well I need to talk to Shamus too, alone, in private.' She hinted to Jacob.

Jacob wasn't sure what they were going to talk about, but decided to back away and return back into the kitchen. He sits down next to Cyborg. He whispers, 'We're going to check this Shamus guy. You recorded what happened right?'

'Yes, the new upgrades you'd install into me worked flawless.' Cyborg answered.

Jacob smiled, 'Great. I'll need evidence in case things start to go wrong, but in case I'm right and there's something wrong with Shamus I got backup to show everyone.' He sees the fork Shamus left behind. He ordered Cyborg to scan it fast. She did as she was told. She was confused by the results of the scan, 'Strange.' She whispers to Jacob.

'What?' He asked.

Cyborg answered, 'This doesn't make sense. The data's old to compare but it matches to Murdoc.

'What?!' Jacob whispered surprised. He kept himself from raising his voice. The other didn't seem to noticed them whispering. They didn't even noticed when Shamus and Kim returned at the table. They both seem a bit happier as they took their seats. Alphonce, who was finished with his dinner, snuggled against Kim.

Later on in Jacob's old room, he was checking Cyborg's scans on his better laptop. He too was surprised by the results. 'You weren't kidding. Dad's scan you had stored is a bit faded and old but compare it to Shamus' scan and they could match.'

'At least a 97.999% chance.' Cyborg told him.

Jacob ran the video he asked Cyborg to record during dinner. He watched it a few times before he took some close images of Shamus. He ran it over to take a closer look at him.

'Well, for a shaggy and smelly fisher man, Shamus doesn't show much of his face to anyone. Even when reviewing this footage he doesn't make close eye-contact except to three people, mom, Alphonce, and 2D, but what I noticed is how harsh he made his direction to him.' Jacob checked. He showed Cyborg the scene where Shamus jumped at 2D.

'If there's anything I know about my dad, he can't stand being asked stupid questions and not to call 2D stupid or something. However the questions he just asked to Shamus was perfectly annoying to set him off.' He explained.

'So? It just shows he has a bad temper.' Cyborg pointed out.

Jacob explained, 'That's true, except let me replay this part where he was just about to insult him.'

Jacob rewinds the video and shows Cyborg the clip. There played Shamus getting up and yells at 2D but stutters and then stops himself. Jacob concluded, 'He was about to say 'Faceache'. That's the next clue to show that Shamus must have known dad because no one else in this band or family ever insults 2D using that word, no one, but dad.'

'So, this does answer that there's a possibility for Shamus and Murdoc have either encounter one time or he heard him using that word to call him out.' She answered.

'Exactly!' Jacob exclaimed. 'This must means that dad must have used that name to call out to someone or shouted at him before disappearing.

'But Jacob,' Cyborg added, 'Maybe it's just a coincidence.'

Jacob thought for a minute, he yawns, he was still very tired and was getting a headache. 'No, I don't know Cyborg, but I'm focus on finding dad right now. Shamus must know where he is.'

He watches more of the scene, even parts from the beginning and soon focus his attention on Shamus. He noticed something oddly familiar about Shamus' posture. He slouched a bit, but hung his hang in a bored way. In the video Shamus soon cheered up when Kim handed him a bottle of beer. Jacob gasped at what he missed earlier. Shamus hung his tongue out a bit, but it was unusually long. Jacob continues to watch this small clip as Shamus quickly drunk the entire the bottle down. It was amazing that no one else seemed to noticed it, but then again the band mates have been working long hours of work and get home feeling very tired to noticed anything unusual.

'Cyborg, I'm not ready for another all nighter, I need to confront Shamus, right now.' He told her.

Cyborg agreed. 'I should mention this, but Shamus been showing irregular heartbeats. Every time he spoke to anyone about himself his heart started to beat that pattern.'

'So he was lying to our faces!' Jacob shot up from his chair. 'That's it!'

Jacob leaves his room and hurries downstairs to see Shamus and Kim sitting together. He interrupted their conversation. Jacob looked nervous and exhausted.

'Mom, can I talk to Shamus too? I need his help on something, so can't he, please?' He asked Kim.

Kim turns to Shamus who just shrugs his shoulders and followed Jacob back up to his room. Shamus just asked what it was that Jacob needed, he only noticed that Cyborg was in the same room as Jacob shuts the door behind them and locks it. He looks at Shamus and asks him once again, 'Who do you think you are?'

Shamus, looking nervous for a bit, only answered, 'Well I just came here because you asked me too that's why.'

'That's not it.' Jacob told him, 'Look, you've been living here for a while and I haven't change how I felt about you when we first met. Now are you working for someone else? A spy or a nosy gossiper or maybe a die hard fan living some sort of crazy dream?'

'What things? There's nothing going on.' Shamus argued.

'Is that so? What don't you want to talk about?' Jacob asked.

'Listen, what are you going on about? I haven't done anything.' Shamus answered.

Jacob asked, 'Then why were you looking so nervous at my mom?'

Shamus was getting nervous, his throat started to sound raspy for a bit as he answers, 'It's private stuff. Stuff about last night. It's really complicated. I was trying to teach Alphonce his lessons, but he's still a kid and deserves some fun. Besides, I don't have to tell you everything.'

'Is that right? So tell me. I'm smart enough to know a few things.' Jacob answers back.

'Well, why should I say anything? It's not like you can't figure it. You think you're so smart, you tell me.' He asked.

Jacob got quiet for a minute, still very exhausted from his lack of sleep, but he gathers his thoughts, 'Well, I think you know something. Something like what happened a few years back in this flat.' He added, 'I think you know what really happened.'

'What happened? I haven't been here. I don't know what really happened.' Shamus quickly answered. He look at the door for a minute.

Jacob wasn't convinced, 'You don't know what happened or you don't know what really happened? Those are two very different questions and I'm just looking for one answers to solve both mysterious. You see, everyone here, thinks that my dad, Murdoc Niccals, is dead. The police tried everything but since he disappeared without a clue, there was no such luck, except for today when mom handed me these drawings, Alphonce drew last year, and suddenly things started to click.'

'What? What drawings?.' Shamus quickly asked.

'These drawings,' Jacob showed the drawings to him. Shamus looks at the drawings, he didn't looked worried, but still he wasn't happy either. 'So the boy drew some interesting pictures.'

'Then let me finish telling you, that what you're seeing is a figure my foster father, Murdoc Niccals tried to hide from during Plastic Beach and it's that same creature Alphonce saw on the same night our dad went missing. That thing you see is the boogieman.' Jacob told him.

'Wait, so you think I have something to do with this boogie thing taking your dad? Shamus asked and added, 'You've gone nuts spending all of your time in that bloody basement working on your 'project'.' He then commented, 'Although I doubt you could improve something your dad worked very hard on, so there. I mean anyone could follow a few notes and blueprints.' He plain-fully spoke out.

'Ah, ha!' Jacob jumps in, 'How would you know my dad work hard on building Cyborg. He's not much a genius as I am. I'm adopted, so even if my dad could build a working Cyborg, he would asked me first about robotics. I even send him early rough drafts and a blueprint of a working bot so he can use it.'

Shamus gulped. Jacob started to pressure him, 'Alright, tell me. Who are you, really?'

Shamus tried to back away but Cyborg stood her ground, ready to stop him, 'Come on fess up!' Jacob ordered.

'There's nothing to say,' Shamus argued. 'You're just tired from working too hard.'

'Are you working for the Boogieman? Are you the reason why my dad's missing?! Talk! Where is he?!' Jacob exclaims.

Shamus was sweating, his throat was getting dry, and he was getting nervous. He wipes the swear off from his forehead with the back of his jacket sleeve. Suddenly, Shamus pushes Cyborg to the side, but felt a tight grip on his arm. Cyborg was clinging to his arm. Jacob jumps onto his back. They fought and struggled to hold Shamus down, but Shamus kept fighting back.

'Let go of me!' He shouted. 'You don't understand!'

'Try me!' Jacob exclaims.

Shamus tried to fight them off, but he couldn't. He shook hard to get Jacob off him, but Jacob held on, even though he was still very tired. He held on as best as he could. Cyborg kept pulling Shamus' arm. Shamus was struggled fighting them both. Although he didn't throw a punch or tried kicking, he didn't want to hurt them, but he still can't stay to answer anymore questions. He pries Jacob's grip off him. Jacob fell down but got up and grabs his other arm.

'I said let go of me!' Shamus shouted. 'I'm not trying to cause any trouble! I just can't talk right now!'

Jacob and Cyborg both struggled and Shamus was struggling to pull away from them. They kept this tug of war action until there began a slight ripping sound. Neither of them heard it of stop, but in a final tug the sleeve off Shamus' arm rip off. There Jacob stop pulling and saw it. He stared at it in surprise. Shamus stops to notice the missing sleeve and his exposed tattoo. He looks at Jacob. Jacob looks at him. He didn't know if he was dreaming or it was a hallucination, but there it was, the tattoo he'd seen often as a child with his dad, the iron cross that sat on his shoulder. Cyborg, who also stop pulling, scans the mark. 'It's real', she spoke.

'Jacob?' She turns to him.

Jacob didn't say anything. His hands were starting to shake. He felt his whole body shaking, trying to contain everything he was feeling inside. He didn't know what to do. He didn't think this was going to happen. Shamus, sighs, 'I didn't know how to explain this.'

Jacob bit his lips. He stares hard at the floor. Shamus moves to him, but Jacob quickly backs away. 'How?' He spoke, his voice starting to shake, 'Why?'

'I really tried to find the right moment to explain all of this, not just to you, but with everyone. I just figure I hide out here for a bit to see if anyone was ready.' He told him.

'You could have come home!' Jacob shouted. 'Everyone needed you! Why are you hurting us?! Why now!?'

'You're right, I was being a coward. I just thought maybe there would be something waiting here for me, but right now things aren't how I imagine.' Shamus describes. 'I'm sorry. I'm sorry for being a coward and not telling anyone, not to tell you the truth.'

Suddenly Jacob hugs him, warmly, and cries. 'I'm still mad at you, but I'm just too happy right now. I miss you dad.' He whispers. Murdoc smiles and hugs Jacob back. 'I missed you too.'
