Secrets
After talking to his mother, Jackson tries calling the foundation lawyers for a long time. He gets frustrated as the lockdown prevents him from getting anywhere with his investigation.
He ends up doing what he was hoping he wouldn't have to do, search his mothers' house and childhood home.
Having the keys to her and Richards' house now, Jackson lets himself in. He goes straight to the place he has seen her hide documents as a child, her workroom and safe, that is, disguised as a big pot plant with fake flowers and a little dirt on top.
He presses the safety button on the back, and a door opens on the front. The big pot is empty of any documents except for one. He takes it in his trembling hands. Thinking this could be it, not able to believe his luck.
Jackson opens the document slowly and what he finds leaves him feeling like he's still in bed, dreaming. He stands and drops it, stares at it again. Sure, that this is some kind of joke from his mother.
He walks out of the room, determined, to never investigate her, again, because if what he saw is true...
He looks for one secret only to find another. One that is not related to the one he is searching for. This secret has the potential to turn his world on its axis.
Not sure what he just saw and a little disorientated, he leaves the papers lying on the floor and is about to leave the house when his mother opens the door. She slowly walks in, wearing a tracksuit like she does when going for a run, but she isn't sweating to commemorate this.
Catherine slowly walks in, locks the door behind her, and puts her keys on the counter. She does this like a cat that has trapped her prey and isn't worried about its escape.
Jackson observes this all a little irritated and guilty for breaking in and mostly getting caught. Yet too weary to care too much in the face of what he thinks he found.
"Found what you were looking for?" Catherine says with a small smirk and eyebrow lift.
