When the dragon in the shield manifests in a solid form, he kidnaps Naofumi, treating him like a treasure since he's his lifeline. Of course, Naofumi struggles, but the dragon pins him down.

"Let me go, you stupid dragon!"

They eventually settle in a cave on a high mountain.

The dragon tries to convince Naofumi to get revenge...in exchange, help him to kill the one who killed it aka Ren.

"While that would be good, I refuse!"

Naofumi was pinned by the dragon's tail. Panting, Naofumi tried to get out, but the dragon was stubborn.

The dragon tries to persuade him...and until he does, he'll just keep Naofumi here.

Once L'Arc heard, he went to rescue him. But by the time he arrived, the dragon was already subservient to Naofumi, letting him pet and scratch him.

"Uh... Kiddo?"

"Oh, hey L'Arc."

"Do you actually need rescuing or..."

"I did...but I tamed the dragon, so it's fine."

"Right..." L'Arc sweat-drops.

They then ride the dragon home before the manifestation went back into the shield.

Omake: When they ride the dragon

Naofumi smiles, "C'mon L'Arc!"

L'Arc yelps, "Woah!"

Naofumi laughs, enjoying himself as he had always wanted to ride a dragon.

L'Arc smiles at him.

Omake 2:

After absorbing the dragon's soul, it turns out that when he's not zombified and trying to kill you, he's actually really chill and he becomes the little angel/devil on his shoulder... except it's more like that friend that encourages you to do really dumb stuff for shits and giggles while occasionally breaking out into actually decent advice.

Naofumi finds the dragon as his Grandpa friend: always cranky, but he's there for random wisdom. However, it's awkward since every time he talks to the damn dragon, it looks like he's talking to himself to outsiders.

For example, when Naofumi looks at Raphtalia:

Dragon asks, 'Hey boy. Ya gonna hit that?'

Naofumi replies, "Mm nah."

Dragon sighs, 'Shame. Damn shame.'

At Myne's execution...

Naofumi thinks to himself, 'Is this really what I want? Is this the right thing? What do you think?'

Dragon answers, 'LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR.'

Naofumi shakes his head, 'I'm not even gonna ask how you know that song.'

At Cal Mira with L'Arc...

Naofumi worries, 'I think I actually really like him! But... can I really put myself out there again? After Myne? After everything, I've been through? Can I really trust people again?'

Dragon sighs, 'Listen to me boy; You gave your heart and trust to someone only for them to crush it and make you feel like you were ruined. It's understandable that you feel afraid of not just trusting someone, but also giving someone your heart again. But you're wiser now and you have people who love you. You're a strong boy and the bravest thing you can do is pursue the things that you think will make you happy. So trust in your friends to support you and start chasing your man!'

Naofumi smiles, 'Thanks, man...'

Dragon nods, 'No problem boy, now let's get that sexy redhead a rock!'

Naofumi pauses in shock before asking, 'A... rock?'

Dragon answers like it's obvious, 'Yeah, a rock! Bitches love rocks!'

Naofumi sighs, '...Is that a dragon thing? Because I don't think that applies to-'

Dragon yells, 'BITCHES. LOVE. ROCKS.'

Naofumi throws his hands up in metaphorical surrender, 'Alright! Jeez!'

Later, when L'Arc betrays them...

Naofumi frowns, clenching his fists, 'He's... Just like everyone else...'

Dragon yells angrily, 'THAT SLUT! HE DOESN'T DESERVE A ROCK!'
