Arrival to Hyrule
It was about a month ago when the kingdom of Hyrule had received guests from a visiting country, the country of Nohr.
They knew very little of this foreign land, only that it was rich in power and wealth. These are things they wanted greatly.
And so, King Garon arrived in Hyrule, with his personal guard and two of his children.
Both of them were the eldest of his four surviving offspring, and the eldest were also his best warriors.
As such, with them and a few soldiers at his side, he felt confident about this.
"King of Hyrule?" King Garon asked, confident of his arrival to the throne room.
King Rhoam Bosphoramus Hyrule only glared at the old man standing in the middle of his tone room.
By his right is his only child, his daughter, Princess Zelda of Hyrule.
She sat here, in a blue dress with a gold crown, looking nervous at these strangers.
"Father… what shall we do?" She asked him in a whisper.
He huffed, not liking these men being in his castle home, with his daughter at his side.
He stood up, looking as unwelcoming as his regal status can allow him to be around foreign royalty.
"King Garon of Nohr, what interest do you have in declaring war with a country you have no past history with, good or bad?!" He questioned.
Garon only chuckled darkly as the person to his left, his daughter, observed Princess Zelda.
Even from this distance, he could tell she was shorter than her, at only 5 foot and 7 inches. Camilla herself stood 6 feet and 2 inches, 6 and 5 inches if one counted her high heels. Zelda was also skinnier, much slimmer, whereas Camilla was broader, with larger breasts and a more muscular build.
In short, Camilla thought this princess was weak, but also beautiful.
I bet I could break her into pieces, but she's so pretty that I'll go easy on her. Camilla thought with a smile.
"Well… the answer is simple. My country, Nohr, is in need of resources. You might have heard, my country lives in perpetual poverty. Food is scarce, the sun rarely shines, it is constantly cold…" Garon started.
"Then why seek enemies and not allies?" Rhoam questioned.
"Because that is not how Nohr functions." Garon stated.
However, Zelda stared at this man a moment too long.
Whether it was wisdom, her ancestral power speaking to her, or just a bad impression, she felt something about Garon wasn't right.
Something about him seems… wrong. She thought, a shiver went down her spine.
As this man kept going, she felt uncomfortable in her throne. It was not because of the throne itself, it was just that this man is all wrong.
She didn't even pay any attention to him, but she wanted to avoid looking at him as she darted her eyes to his children. Granted, they were both older than her, but she'd rather stare at them than him.
To the man's right was his son, Xander. He looked to be the eldest, as well as having the face of someone very serious.
To the king's left was his daughter, Camilla.
It was something in Camilla's stare that made Zelda shudder, somehow more than Garon did. It was that smile she had. It looked predatory, in more ways than one. And because of that, Zelda gulped loudly.
"... so, what say you?" Garon asked Rhoam.
Hearing that snapped Zelda out of her attempts to ignore him.
Rhoam turned his back, looking away from Garon.
"Allow me to discuss this with my council. Come, Zelda." He said as he began walking away.
"O-oh, yes!" She said, getting up. She followed him.
She took a brief glance at the people behind her.
Xander looked disinterested in their environment, Garon looked impatient, but Camilla still had that look in her eye that made Zelda shudder.
That woman terrifies me… She thought.
She shook a moment as she straightened herself and followed her father.
Now that they were alone, Garon took notice of their surroundings.
The Hyrulean soldiers were surrounding them. Although a conqueror, he knew better than to try an attempt at the king's life right now, especially since Hyrule is home to many powerful races and powerful magic. It was the reason he wanted it badly.
"Well, what say you regarding his daughter?" Garon asked.
"She's beautiful. A bit slim, but there's an appeal to that." Camilla said in a soft voice.
"I was talking to your brother." Garon scolded.
Camilla looked mildly surprised before signing and shrugging.
"Even so, she's so darling… almost as much as Corrin."
"Hmph…" A more dismissive Xander went. "She may be easy on the eyes, but you should know the kind of woman I desire."
"Even so… your tastes are not what matters." Garon said.
Xander sighed.
"I understand, Father." He said.
"Good." Garon said, his eyes darting way to look at his daughter. "Camilla, do you understand your role if they say yes?"
"Yes, Father." Camilla said with a small, somewhat sadistic smile on her face.
I do hope it is someone cute, like one of those Gerudo I heard of… Still, I hope to see Corrin soon. She thought fondly.
"WHAT?!" Zelda asked loudly.
Her father flinched at her volume, as did the council.
"You weren't paying attention, were you?" Rhoam asked.
Zelda, not seeing any way to avoid the topic, sighed.
"No… I was trying to ignore the man because… something about him seemed-"
"Wrong?" Impa, a member of the council and an old family friend, asked.
"Yes, wrong. I don't know if it was my ancestral power or… just intuition, but something about him seemed inhuman." Zelda said.
Rhoam let out a breath.
"So, it wasn't just me feeling that. Still though, you must know what he said. He says that his land is home to warriors, though few, still powerful enough to raze small villages. As the leaders of this country, we cannot abide such clear terrorism. So, his demands are to allow us to surrender our land… and… you." He said, straining a bit in saying that.
"I must wed the eldest son, the one he called Xander, correct?" Zelda asked, not liking it.
"I'm afraid so. However, we cannot let this happen. After last year, with Ganon and his Dark Forces, I cannot allow another who would try to take my land and my daughter from me." Rhoam said.
"So, we must conceive an idea to avoid war?" Zelda questioned.
"Why bother? We are powerful enough as is, more so than they!" Teba of the Rito, a member of the council, stated. "We should just defeat them, get as many people out of the villages as soon as possible and show these riffraffs they are not welcomed."
"I'm not against the idea… but I'm afraid that is too risky." Impa said.
"She's right… we don't know where or when they will attack." Yunobo of the Gorons, another of the council, added.
"That is the only reason I did not have him attacked, he warned if he did not return tonight, his troops would attack in a random village closest to where they docked." Rhoam stated.
Teba groaned.
"That is true, I take back what I said."
"Well, daughter?" Rhoam asked.
"Well what, father?" She asked.
"The women of the royal family are known for making wise decisions. Perhaps you, after what happened last year, can think of something."
Zelda breathed loudly in and out through her nose as she placed a hand on her forehead.
"How long do I have?" She asked.
"About one hour." He said.
Zelda groaned loudly.
She cupped her face and felt frustrated.
To go to war or to be wedded to someone I never met before today… What must I do to avoid this? I didn't do as much as people expected. Link was the one who dealt the blow, I just provided aid with my bow and helped destroy that monster… Wait!
Her eyes widened at that thought.
"That's it…" She said.
"What's it, daughter?" Rhoam asked.
Zelda looked up at her father and smiled.
"Perhaps there is indeed a way to avoid as much bloodshed as possible." She started.
Back in the throne room.
As Garon waited patiently with Xander maintaining his stature, Camilla yawned, looking very bored.
Why couldn't we do this after my darling Corrin was ready? This land is so far pretty thought.
She felt her stomach grumbling.
"May I be excused to find something to eat?" She asked.
Garon rolled his eyes at her.
"Fine, just hurry." He said in an annoyed tone.
Camilla smiled as she started walking away before two soldiers stood in her path.
"I'm afraid we cannot allow you to go." One said.
"You come to our land, declaring war unless our princess wed, and you think we can let you just walk around?" The other said.
Both of them aimed their spears at her, despite her tall size.
Camilla scoffed playfully at them.
So cute, but still not as cute as Corrin… She thought.
In response, she grabbed both spears and quickly showed why she wasn't afraid in the slightest.
She was able to pull the spears away with enough force to swing the men off the floor and knock them into each other.
As they grunted and hit the floor, the other guards aimed their weapons at her in response.
Camilla only chuckled at them as though they were little boys offering flowers to a girl they have crushes on.
"You're all so sweet, but I promise to behave myself…" She said.
"What's going on here?" The voice of King Rhoam was heard shouting as he returned.
He came without Princess Zelda, who chose to remain in the council room to avoid Garon.
"Sire! Garon's female guard attempted to leave, and she caused these two men to fall!" One of the closest guards called out.
"This is my daughter, Camilla." Garon corrected him before continuing. "And she was going off to find something to eat."
Hearing that first part got the men surprised.
Two huddled closer.
"Did he just say that scary yet attractive giant is his daughter?" One whispered.
"Maybe the royal family of Nohr has the best food of their country…" The other responded.
Rhoam glared at these people before groaning.
"You, what is your name, Princess of Nohr?" He asked.
She looked over shoulder, giving a smile.
"Camilla…" She said in a somewhat sultry tone.
"Do you, Camilla, agree to not harm anyone so long as you're here in my castle as your father and I negotiate?" He asked.
Although it goes against her favorite way to kill time, Camilla knew she had to be a princess first and a warrior second.
"You have my word." She said, giving an innocent nod.
"Very well…" Rhoam said.
With a satisfied smile, Camilla turned and walked away.
Once she was out of the room, Garon redirected his attention to Rhoam.
"Now… you wish to negotiate?" Garon said.
"My daughter has a proposition for you…" Rhoam began.
She found the mess hall and took a roasted drumstick, an apple, a loaf of bread and a meat skewer. She ate them fast.
"So far, the best thing about this land is the food." She admitted as she finished the drumstick and started eating the skewer. "Truthfully though, it's at least more beautiful to look at… especially from here."
As she ate fast, she observed the kingdom of Hyrule. She saw the vast green beneath a blue sky.
She smiled at the sight. She never saw so much green before. She felt the breeze and smelled the fresh air. The breeze wasn't anywhere near as cold as in Nohr, it was the right amount of coolness. The kind wanted on a Summer day. The sun also felt amazing on her skin, it felt so warm and comforting. Not getting enough sun back home, Camilla felt it was welcoming, something wanted to get used to.
Okay… I was wrong… there's more to this place. She thought as she started eating the bread loaf.
It was then she heard shouting. It got her to look in the direction. She heard it again.
"Hmm… what is this?" She asked, following the sounds.
The shouting got louder as she got closer as she looked down.
She saw a group of soldiers in armor, swinging their swords in practice.
"Again!" The captain ordered.
They shouted as they swung their swords downward.
"Hmm… so they're training." She said as she finished the bread loaf.
As she took a bite of her apple, she thought back to someone else.
Someone she had on her mind very often.
Her adopted brother, Corrin.
I hope my darling Corrin is okay. He's training, but I can't wait for him to join us in trips like these.
As she thought of him with a smile, she sighed.
"If only father would approve of marrying adopted siblings…" She said to herself.
It was against Nohrian law for such a thing, so she could never get that chance. Even though she's not unattracted to men, she had always doted on Corrin the most. There was something about his fair skin, pointed ears, shorter size and slim physique that drew her to him.
There's nobody like my Corrin… She thought fondly.
"HIYAH!" A new voice went as her thoughts were interrupted.
Though annoyed, Camilla saw the source of the voice as someone in a soldier's armor slicing a practice dummy.
"Huh?" She went.
Two soldiers walked up to the swordsman, who sliced the dummy right down to the center with ease, both of them not wearing helmets, exposing their pointed ears.
Camilla blinked.
Hmm… so the major class of humans known as Hylians have pointy ears? Maybe Corrin has ancestors from here? Camilla thought.
"Yo, Link!" One of the older looking men said, we brought something you should see.
The soldier, Link, smiled as he took his helmet off.
"Okay then…" He said.
Camilla gasped at what she saw.
A young, fair skin man with pointed ears, who appeared slimmer and shorter than her.
The start of a Zelda x Fire Emblem fanfic that I will try to add more to as time progresses.
