Hi people or whatever you are! Kitten here again with another chapter of Impossible and Improbable. It's probably confusing why I named it that, but there IS a reason. It's Impossible because Max will never get Annabeth to be his girlfriend, (Duh), and Improbable because, well, you'll just have to wait and see!
DISCLAIMER:
I don't own the Riordanverse.
Chapter Three
"WHAT!" I practically screamed, "B-but I have a date to the fireworks and everything! Our swim team is going to make it to state this year!"
"Calm down, Max. You aren't missing anything. The fireworks are canceled this year, and you can join the swim team at your new school." Mr. Lifenset said. That just made me more confused.
"Why are the fireworks canceled?" I asked.
"Because we have realized how dangerous fireworks can be. Now, your mom will be here in an hour, so I suggest you spend that time saying goodbye with your friends and getting ready to go instead of arguing with me about fireworks you'll never get to see." I walked out of the office, feeling dejected.
"Hey man, what happened?" Rodney asked me when I got back to our dorm. "You look pretty miserable." I told him what had happened and his eyes widened. "Really? You're leaving? What about the fireworks?"
I answered simply, "What fireworks?"
"You know what fireworks, we saw them last year, when we were freshmen!" He looked really confused, so I decided to fill him in.
"Mr. Lifenset said that the fireworks were 'too dangerous to use and could really hurt someone,' so they're not doing them this year."
"But that's crazy! I mean, when have we never done them? Who cares if someone dies? Not me!" Rodney seemed very mad. "Well, goodbye!" I hightailed it out of there and checked my watch. 40 minutes left. Wow, I had used up 20 minutes talking to Rodney? I hurried over to the room James shared with this guy Sith. Who names their kid Sith? They were probably Star Wars fans. So, I knocked on the door and Sith answered.
"Hey man, heard you were leaving in half an hour,"
"How'd you know?" I asked him.
"Word gets around fast here at Germell," He answered me. So, Rodney told everybody. Figures.
"Well, you shouldn't know." I replied slightly snootily. He shrugged and muttered something that sounded suspiciously like "good riddance." "What did you say?" I had to make sure he didn't actually say good riddance.
"Nothing, just 'good luck at your new school,'"
"Oh, okay, then. Where's James?" Sith pointed towards the pool, so I headed there.
James was swimming laps and, I gotta admit, he was pretty good, but not as good as me. I ran into the changing room, put on my Speedo, and jumped into the water. "CANNONBALL!" I shouted, splashing water everywhere. James looked up from his Butterfly stroke and splashed me with water.
"What are you doing?!" He asked. "You have to get ready to go!" I laughed and shook the water out of my hair.
"I already said bye to everyone."
"Even Annabeth?" James questioned.
"Yep, even h- OH NO! I CAN'T BELIEVE I FORGOT MY GIRLFRIEND!" My heart started pounding. Our long distance relationship would be ruined if I forgot to say bye. But, I decided, I would wait until after I swam for a bit.
We swam for a while, until James said, "You better go, dude, you've only got ten minutes." I changed quickly and ran out the pool door to meet my mom. Annabeth was waiting for me.
"Hi Anna!" I said to her, "My mom's gonna pick me up soon, you wanna talk?" She sat down on a bench and signaled for me to sit beside her.
"I wanted to talk to you about something, but before that, I need to make sure of one thing. You'll write, right? Don't bother texting, because I never check my phone." Her face was dry and clear of tears, but Annabeth wasn't one to cry, like, ever.
"Don't worry about that. Our relationship will be fine. I'll still be in New York." I tried to comfort her the best I could. "There's my mom. I won't forget about you!" I gave her a quick peck on the lips, and strolled over to my mom's car, trying to act calm and secure, when in reality I was about to break down. The principal was talking to my mother through the window, and they both looked very pleased. Then they spotted me.
"Good luck at your new school, Mr. Vestron," Mr. Lifenset said. "You'll do just fine, as you're a bright young man, and you'll probably even become their new swim captain." I scoffed. I didn't need luck, just a captain's badge and a place on the honor roll. Oh, and my girlfriend, Annabeth. I thanked him anyways and got into the car.
"Bye, Mr. Lifenset," I waved to him and he walked back into the building. I was about to blow a kiss at Annabeth, but she was nowhere to be seen. I figured she had gone back into the building so she wouldn't have to see me go painfully. While we were driving, my mom tried to tell me about my new school.
"This school is known for its swim team, and I've heard it's going to state this year. Luckily for you, they host tryouts for new people every semester, which is why you're starting this year and not next. Your winter break will be full of registration and tours with a couple of other people who will be starting next semester, but I want you to spend all your free time training, so you don't let down your new team. Of course, I expect you to become the new captain, because you are one of the *cough* best *cough* swimmers I've seen. Does that sound good?" And then she snickered for some unknown reason.
I muttered a "Yeah, cool," and then she started talking about all the programs and clubs my new school had to offer.
When we got to our apartment building, my mom lit the bomb. "Oh, I forgot to tell you where you're going! It's this 'good' place called Goode." I widened my eyes.
"Oh no, Mom. That's the place that beat us!" My mom just laughed.
"Then they'll be doubly glad to have you as captain!" I smiled. Maybe this new school would be 'good'. My mom whistled the 'The Imperial March' to herself as she took my stuff out of the trunk. "Hon, would you grab some of your stuff and put it upstairs?" I dutifully grabbed my suitcase and stepped into the elevator.
The tour was boring, the teachers were all boring except one, Mr. Blofis, and the people who led the tours were likewise boring, too. That is, until we got to the pool. This pool was MASSIVE! No wonder we lost to them. Of course, even though they have a bigger pool, that doesn't mean that they're better. ) I would become captain, duh, and they would have to BOW DOWN TO ME! MWAH HA HA! Sorry, I got a little carried away there, but you get what I mean.
Cookies to everyone who reviewed! (::) (::) (::) These really made my day. They were just what I needed. Here are my responses:
Tbrucks: Sorry, maybe I'm the only one who knows what a QOTD is, and that's why no one answered it. To answer your question, a QOTD is a question of the day, and I WILL KEEP WRITING! Also, you are not stupid, I am for thinking people know what that is. Sorry for the confusion. I will keep continuing it! :)
JoeBob: I agree that Maxabeth is a terrible name, Gershwin-Mellendorf is a terrible name, and Germell, the abbreviation is pretty much the worst name ever! :p Thanks for telling me that I'm awesome, and the swim team only affected the mood in the cafeteria because Max has a big head (haha).
Anaklusmos: Annabeth is one in a million
A letter writer: Thanks for that! This was fun to write, too. :D
PixelJuice: Awww, that is so sweet. I really hope you enjoy it!
Theclassy1: Sorry that it's not what you like, but I can't please everyone! If you have anything you want me to change, like actually, then I'll try to make you happy while also keeping everyone else (including myself!) happy. :)
Oli/guest: You were my first reviewer! Yay! Hope you like the rest!
So, there you go, everyone! I'm sorry that Max has a really big head, but it was really fun to write this chapter and I hope it's fun to read! Please tell me if the people from PJO are OOC. Also, my offer from Chapter 1 still stands. Ya know? the one where I stick YOUR OC in here? Also, I will still answer any questions you have about this story or *shudder* Max. Uh... I was going to put something else in here but I forget now...
May the force be with you,
-Kitten :)
FUTURE ME: Edited for clarity and embarrassing stuffs.
