Hey people! So, this is going to be a long author's note, but only because there are a lot of things I want to say. First, I'm sorry for not updating for a month, but if you look outside, wow, it's summer! (Okay, maybe I lied, it's not summer everywhere but it's definitely summer here.) Because of this, updates are definitely going to be less frequent, but after summer, I will update more. The second thing is about a story I'm going to be doing! It's a partnership (sorta) with Silversky247 (She wrote Mortal Friendships) and it's going to be a two-shot. It's really funny, mostly about Frank and fanfiction, but I really want you guys to check it out... for a... reason I'm unable to disclose. There's another thing at the bottom of the chapter, so read on!
123Thomas321: Because... he's Max! Do you need any other explanation?
IAmTheUltimateFangirl: Well... you don't find that out in this chapter... but promise it will be next time!
1234booklover: Awww. So sweet! Max really has it out for Percy...
Silversky247: Ahem. My speaking points are none of your business. It doesn't matter if I was reviewing to your story or not. My reviews are just generally amazing, so deal with it. You should be happy! TBH though, I'm relieved I'm not Rick too. And yeah, that review was better than your normal ones. I'll start grading you... this was a B. Oh, and you got the hundreth review...
Absolute Theater Trash: I'm glad you hate Max! I don't know about you, but whenever I write about Max or read about him (In my own story, I'm that pathetic) not only do I cringe at the writing, but I laugh like a maniac.
Guest: ...Yeah...
DISCLAIMER:
My name is not Rick Riordan... that should be proof enough that I don't own these characters...
Chapter 12
I printed out the information from the Wiki page, making sure that it was unwrinkled and dry so I could use it as evidence and be all neat about it and stuff. Looking at it again, I noticed the author's name. Ethan Nakamura. I wasn't sure if this was his real name, because if I were writing about a creepy cult that was definitely one hundred percent real, I would use a fake name. So either he didn't know that Wikipedia records your username, he didn't really care, or that wasn't his real name. I assumed it was the last one.
Now, for the rest. I couldn't just go over to his apartment and tell his mom that Percy was part of a cult, could I. She would either look at me like I was crazy because her 'Poor little jellybean' would never do such a thing,' and then call the cops on me, or she would also be part of the 'Camp Half-Blood' cult. I could not let that happen. So, I googled 'Camp Half-Blood.' Nothing came up, except for something (by the same person) called 'Join the Army!' I clicked on it, assuming it was about fighting the Camp Something-Or-Other cult. It was, but not in the way I expected. It was from two years ago, and it promoted something called the Titan's Army. It looked like a video game ad, but it seemed to be more of an actual thing. I looked at it. If this was what it took to stop that crazy cult and get Annabeth back, this was what I would do. I googled 'Titan's Army'. Who knew that so many shady organizations connected to each other one way or another (in this case they were trying to kill the other group) were on the internet, ready for me to join their cause? Unfortunately, the only result was the same article I had found earlier.
Okay, so maybe I lied. It looked like 'The Titan's Army' was inactive, and possibly dead. But then I got a horrible, horrible, thought. What if Percy's group was the reason behind all of this? What if the 'Titan's Army' were the better people in all of this (because there was no way Percy could be on the good side of things) and they had been defeated by Percy and his comrades? What if… no, I had to stop this. It was the only way. Now it wasn't just about Annabeth, it was about the good of the world and how to save it.
I knew that the Camp was probably somewhere in New York, because Percy lived here and he would want to be as close as possible, but I didn't know where. Luckily, we were meeting at his apartment soon. I would be able to get more information then. For now, I would just grab one of my trusty maps and mark off where I knew the headquarters would not be. That means school, close to his building (because that would be too obvious) and big landmarks. New York has a lot of those, it's not like Wyoming with Yellowstone as their only big thing, so that was a good part of the city. They could still be upstate though, on like a farm or something.
Saturday came. I had to tutor Clint in the morning, so I couldn't investigate more on Percy, but it would all pay up eventually. When it was finally time to go over, I grabbed my notebook (I could pretend it was for the assignment if I was asked) but not my map. It would just be weird, and who uses a paper map besides a stalker, a detective, or an old person without the knowledge of technology? No one! I was definitely not an old person without the knowledge of technology, and Percy would not think I was good at sleuthing, (Which shows how amazing I am at it) so he would think I was a stalker. Stalkers are creeps. I am not a creep, and therefore I am not a stalker.
As I walked over to my partner's building, I thought about surroundings. In an ideal world, the cult would want to be somewhere with no one around. That could either mean an abandoned warehouse in the city, or a farm out somewhere. I hadn't heard of a fight or anything around the city from any point in time, so it was probably a farm. I couldn't base it off of just my hypothesis, though. Besides, do you know how many farms there are in New York? No! Neither do I, and it would take hours just to go looking for one or two, not to mention the time it would take to investigate within those farms. But I could find out where the base probably was, and where it wasn't. I knocked on the door.
"Hello! You must be Max!" The woman who opened the door said with actual, genuine, cheeriness. I assumed this was Percy's mom. Smiling, I replied,
"Yup. I'm here to work on a school project!" I replied with the same amount of exclamation. Only, while hers was real, mine may have been a little faked. She smiled again and motioned for me to walk inside. I followed her to the kitchen, where there was FOOD waiting. Just what I wanted. Notice the sarcasm there. The food could be poisoned! And, some of it was oddly blue. Like, not all of it, but some of it. Who would eat blue food anyways? That's not even a thing! Percy's mom left to get him or something, and so I just sort of looked around with my hands. I opened drawers, holy cow they had a lot of knives, looked in the fridge, more blue food was there, and searched the cupboards. How I managed to do this all with Percy's mom not noticing was beyond me, but it happened. While doing this, I found out a few things that I wrote in my notebook.
One. Percy liked blue food. Sure, I may have noticed that he ate a lot of it before, but this was getting a little extreme. That may have something to do with this…
Two. There were a few pictures on the counter of him and a guy with curly hair, but I didn't know who he was, though he seemed familiar. I wrote down 'Mystery guy and Percy' in the notebook.
Three. There were a bunch of pots and pans and normal stuff. I investigated them all, but could not find anything out of the ordinary. Hmm. Maybe these people were more careful than I thought, or, more likely, Percy's mom had no idea about them. And then she walked in. Percy's mom.
"Okay, he's coming. I'm going to leave you guys alone… go to the store or something, you know? Don't want to intrude." Geez, Sally was shaping up to be a pretty good mom, but I knew this couldn't last. I smiled and Percy motioned for me to sit at the table, so I followed him. Should I make a move then? Right after Sally left? Or wait a while and grab some dirt on him? I chose the latter.
...Crappy ending, I know. But, you wanted an update, so you got an update. Anyways, should I make this into a series, or should it just be a really long story? I'm kind of leaning towards a long story... but tell me in a review!
Peeta0BreadAndHumus: Hey Cubs! Thanks so much for reviewing! (Even though I kind of asked you too...) I probably told you what I liked about this review in our Hangout, so I'm not going to repeat it...
Guest: Well, technically it started with Sally, and Poseidon... but I'm not going to get into gross birth logistics.
pup pup: That is... some very specific wording. Of course he suffers! Why wouldn't he? (That was a rhetorical question, don't respond to it unless you really, really, want to.)
poseidonsdaughter1001: Excuse me. Did you not just read the chapter? This story isn't abandoned! (I'm joking... please don't think I'm mad.) But I do enjoy cliffhangers. Writing them AND reading them.
Bdarwin85: I'm sorry? Well, here's your chapter. That you probably just read. And I agree... nothing could ever break them up, even getting your mind wiped and teleported across the country, not seeing your girlfriend for half a year (when your memory is still gone) and falling into Tartarus.
LivingTillTheEnd: Thanks! Honestly, I don't know... we'll just have to see!
Welp, that's all I have! Hope you enjoyed! Bye!
