Author's Note:
Hope you are having a lovely day! I've got a new chapter for you!
Sorry if anyone is waiting for the five man band to be-you know-assembled, but I really want them to have ~characters~ which take a little to develop.
Once again, feel free to leave a review of what I'm doing both right, and horribly wrong.
Cheers!

Chapter 8:
A conch horn blew in the distance, startling Jo.
She had been sprawled on her bed with her feet in the air, and her head on the ground, reading a book Sara Lee had loaned her. At the sound of the conch, however, she jumped (as well as one can jump while upside down) causing her to slip off her new bunk.
Her five siblings all laughed. "It's just time for dinner." one of her brothers said, helping her up. "Come on. We need to pick up our other half-siblings from the basket ball court before we can head to the dining pavilion."
Everyone fell into line, in order of seniority, Jo soon found out, making her last in line, right behind Sara Lee. As they exited the cabin, they passed the basketball court, where six more of her half-siblings joined their line, making her even more deadlast.
As they walked to the dining pavilion, they passed several other lines. Some just as long as their own, some only a person long. She saw a lone demigod with short, dirty blonde, her armor glinting in the sun, walk out of the large cabin at the end. And the half-bloods weren't just coming from this U of cabins. Several others came from all the different groups of cabins."
She looked around for Caleb, and spotted him at the end of the longest line.
Caleb, for his part, still wasn't sure about this place. The old woman, Annabeth, had been kind and taught him all about the camp, and what it was like to be a half-blood.
That didn't make the stories she had told any less scary, though. She had reminisced about her adventures with her husband. How they had fought in the Titan War, sailed on the Argo II, taken on her mother's oldest opponent, rescued half-bloods in danger. The things she had said made it seem noble. And also terrifying.
As he followed his line from the Hermes cabin, he had to wonder who his godly parent could be. Jo had been claimed as soon as she saw the Apollo cabin, she'd had the feeling of belonging. Annabeth had shown him all the cabins, and none of them had given him any feeling of home, and no magical weaponry had appeared to claim him either. He sighed. This was ridiculous.
Cale glanced to the side, and saw a short, two person line leaving Cabin 12. Both had curly black hair, and dark eyes. The girl leading the line was pink from sunburn. The boy behind her had cocoa colored skin, and looked about as uncomfortable with being here as Caleb felt. The boy turned toward him, and Caleb offered him a 'we're both new here?' smile.
Ian turned to look at the line from Cabin 11. The boy in the back gave him a 'we're both new here?' smile, and Ian returned it, and added a nod. The Cabin 11 guy was a lot taller and bigger than Ian, with pale skin and dark hair. So Ian thought it was nice that he would bother to acknowledge him at all, when it was clear he would make it easier at this camp than Ian.
Out of the cabin she went, following her three half-brothers. Jess had learned pretty quickly that most children of Nemesis were just as good as picking out exploitable flaws as she was, and that they were unique among demigods for two reasons:
1. Their mother almost always told the mortal she had a child with of her identity, and that the child would need to go to Camp Half-Blood
2. They had no special powers
Which was a bit of a bummer. However, they had been nice enough, as far as children of a vengeance goddess went, offering to go and steal her some things from the camp store, and relishing in answering her questions about other campers, and most especially what weaknesses they had noticed.
At the sound of a conch horn, the three boys had stood up, and explained dinner to her, before marching out of the cabin. There wasn't exactly any familial love between the four, even the three that had been there before Jess. But there was something like...familial responsibility. They were going to look out for each other, and make sure no one embarrassed their cabin, and help each other take revenge on those wronged. But that didn't mean they were close.
Jess still wondered how Bri was. They had been curt, to the point, and offered no other conversation besides what a location was, and how and when Jess would be allowed to use it. It made her wonder if the older demigod would ever get over her victory.
Bri was considering it. Both their arm and their pride were seriously bruised. After dumping Jess with her brothers in the Nemesis cabin, they had gone straight to the infirmary, to get their arm checked, as it had been slowly driving them insane. As it turned out, it was just bruised, and the Apollo kids had just given them a swig of nectar, and told them not to put a lot of strain on it until the nectar had run its course, which wouldn't be until after the campfire.
So yes. Everything was just peachy. Here they were, the child of the king of the gods, and one little girl, the daughter of a minor goddess without a week of proper training, had just walloped them. Everything. Was. Fine.
They had been wallowing in the Zeus cabin, sitting in a cloud of self-pity and loathing, when they heard the conch horn, and knew they had to go to dinner.
So they had dragged themselves out the door, and to the dining pavilion, where they sat down first, not having to bother to look for any siblings who might have gotten into trouble. They looked at their goblet for a moment before saying, "Dr . Pepper," and watching the cup fill with a bubbly, caramel brown liquid.
Around them all the rest of the demigods were filing into the benches along the table. After sufficient chaos, everyone got into order, and were ready to load their plates.
"Campers!" came the voice of the centaur. "I know you are all ready to have your dinner, but first, some announcements!"
"As you all know, our camp director, Mr.D, was recently recalled to Olympus, completing his service to the camp. He left this note for me to read to you all...ah.." Chiron unfolded a small piece of paper, and began reading.
"Here we are-
'Dear campers:
None of you were dear to me. Thank you for making my service as miserable as possible. Because you managed to annoy me so much, I'm offering a little gift-there will be a chariot race in my honor. I'm hoping for fatalities.'
And he signed it with a wine stain." Chiron finished. "Well, I suppose we'll be having a chariot race...let's see-next Thursday. Teams of two from each cabin, have your participants selected and your chariot ready by then. In other announcements, Percy is holding the weekly sword fighting challenge open tomorrow, stop by to get some pointer and your butt whooped."
He looked up from his clipboard and at the head table. "Really, Percy, they are children." The son of the sea god only shrugged, and smiled.
"And finally, we have had four new campers join us today. Jess Tewers, daughter of Nemesis, Jo Lynk, daughter of Apollo, Ian Malark, son of Dionysus, and Caleb Lynk, undetermined."
Caleb cringed at how lame it sounded compared to the rest of the newbies, even his own little sister.
"As for that, we have no other announcements, so you may get your-" The old centaur stopped again, this time due to the sudden drop in temperature. A chilly wind darted through the pavilion, making campers shiver, until it came to its destination-Caleb Lynk. The wind itself seemed to have an agenda and a will, and it had flurries dancing around in it.
At the big table, Annabeth muttered to herself, "No, no, no, why did I have to be right?"
The wind exploded into snow, and fluttered around the young Lynk, before contorting itself into a twisted staff, and hardening into metal with a hand grip around the center.
Caleb did the only logical thing, and grabbed hold of it. Snowflakes fell from the ends of the staff, and Chiron finally spoke up.
"Caleb Lynk, I believe you have just been claimed. But...but I have never seen a claiming like this beforeā¦" he looked to Annabeth for help
"Khione." she spoke up. "Lady of snow, goddess of cold and manipulation. Hail, Caleb Lynk, the first child of Khione to ever arrive at camp."
