Chapter 10:

The room dispersed, leaving only the five heroes of the prophecy, and the two most powerful demigods of the age.

"You...you want us to leave and fight...something? You don't even know what the something is?"

"Jo, I'll admit you have less to work with than many of us had for our quests, but we do have some ideas. We told you, that if you go to the Waystation you'll be likely to find the rest of the information you'll need. We can't help much further than that." the son of Poseidon said.

"The only other thing I can offer you is to outfit you with a weapon. Athena is pretty good at matching the right weapon to the right person." the daughter of Athena added.

Bri sighed. "Okay, Miss Annabeth. I'm going to go find us a route to Indianapolis and pack while you help the new guys get ready." They left the room in a hurry.

"I really appreciate it, Miss Annabeth, but when I was claimed I was given this bow-" Jo began, apologetically.

"Same, except I was given this staff." Caleb agreed.

"I'm going to take you two to the camp store and make sure you have the things you need for your quest." Percy said, smiling. "While Annabeth takes Jess and Ian to the armory."

"I want a dagger. Or a short sword. Something not too obvious, something that won't interfere with my fighting style." Jess stated matter-of-factly

"And what exactly is your fighting style?"

"Fisticuffs."

"Ah. Well here's our selection of knives. You can take a look while I help Ian."

She led him further into the shed. "Perhaps a spear? That's similar to what your father uses?"

Ian picked up a gold tipped spear, and moved it from hand to hand, experimenting with a few jabs and swipes. "I don't know. It doesn't feel right."

"Mmm. Let's try a sword for you then. Or do you want to look at the shotguns?"

"You guys use guns?"

"Some do use specially engineered ones. We got the idea from when my dad used them in his Sopwith Camel to save me and my friends from monsters on Mount Tam. Want to see them?"

"The plane?"

She laughed. "No, the guns." She turned around with a small pistol, which she handed to him.

He swallowed. He didn't like the way it felt in his hand. It reminded him of the way his parents had died. "This really isn't right for me. I...I don't want to use it."

"Sure. We can move onto other weapons. There are clubs and you can take a look at the knives with Jess if you want-"

"What about this?" he picked up a gladius from a rack of swords.

"Sure. Whatever feels most natural for you is the right weapon. It would be strange, because that's a Roman sword, but if it's here, it can be used."

"Found it!" Jess called from the knives. She held up twin daggers. They were bronze, with silver sheaths. The most unique thing about them was how long they were. They were very clearly knives, but they were about two inches from being considered a short sword.

"A formidable choice. They're able to be used to defend from swordsmen, or as a dagger would be. But you can't just take them out and expect to be able to use that sort of weapon with ease. Additionally, those sheaths are slightly sharpened. If on your travels you should run into werewolves, leave the sheaths on to fight them."

Jess knit her eyebrows together. "Sure, but why would we run into werewolves?"

"You shouldn't. The Hunters managed to disperse of those monsters, but a few made an escape and likely bit more. They aren't much of a threat anymore, but they are still around."

"Does this sword do anything cool?" Ian asked

"It kills monsters."

"I suppose that's pretty cool."

Annabeth smiled at the young heroes. "Go to the camp store. You'll need supplies to succeed at this quest, not just weapons." She climbed onto her pegasus, and watched as the two began toward their comrades.

"And may the gods be with you." she whispered. Her horse soared upwards and toward the Big House.

Author's Note:

Yeah, this is here because these two, yeah, really needed some weapons before they went out on a quest.

Saturday, upload day! Kinda late, but I still got it out on time! Also, for some reason I had a really hard time writing this chapter. I hope it's up to par despite my struggles.
